Man Utd top Europe for net spend on transfers over past 10 seasons; 14 Premier League clubs rank in top 20; Current top-flight teams in England have spent six times more than Serie A, 10 times more than La Liga and 12 times more than Bundesliga; Ligue 1 clubs register surplus over decade. United have recorded an eye-watering £903m net spend during the past 10 seasons - spending £1.3 billion and recouping £395m from player sales, according to a new study published by the Football Observatory. In terms of net expenditure, United have outspent fellow powerhouse clubs Manchester City (£826.6m), Paris Saint-Germain (£790.4m) and Barcelona (£546m) - all of whom have won five or more league titles during that period, compared with United's sole title in 2012/13. Interestingly, Arsenal rank fifth on the list, ahead of European giants Juventus (£471.2m) and AC Milan (£362.9m), while Premier League trio Everton (£360.4m), Aston Villa (£356.2m) and Chelsea (£346.9m) complete the top 10. West Ham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Brighton and Wolves also make the top 20 - reflecting the stark disparity in spending between English sides and their European counterparts. At the other end of the scale, Ligue 1 sides Lille (-£293.2m) and Lyon (-£207.5m) registered chart-topping surpluses over the decade - with the former pipping PSG to the domestic title last term. In fact, 46 of the 98 clubs returned accounts in the black, with Genoa, Udinese, Atalanta, Montpellier and Athletic Bilbao among the most profitable. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11095/12535322/transfers-man-utd-top-man-city-psg-barcelona-and-arsenal-for-net-spend-over-decade&ved=2ahUKEwjL3sHq0e71AhVbi_0HHVGUCA8Q0PADKAB6BAgDEAE&usg=AOvVaw3QM3q9eKJGzFgV5xHvKvZT |

President Muhammadu has vowed never to release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. In his latest interview with Channels Buhari said he would not interfere with the Judiciary. Recall that some Igbo leaders had met with Mr President to request for the unconditional release of Kanu. In his response, Buhari said its a heavy decision to take but will consider. However, when asked if he would release KANU, Mr President said: “We cannot release Nnamdi Kanu. There is no political solution to it. His case is for the judiciary. One of the things I promised myself is never to interfere with the jobs of the judiciary. I have given him the opportunity to defend himself. Kanu has been insulting us. He has been given incorrect figures and comments against us. He needs to account for what he did. Recalled that Kanu, the Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, is standing trail of treasonable charges preferred against him by the federal government. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/01/we-cannot-release-nnamdi-kanu-buhari-vows/ |

Nigeria’s airline, Air Peace, begins scheduled flights into Anambra on Tuesday. Its spokesman, Mr Stanley Olisa, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday. Olisa stated that the commencement followed approval of the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. He added that the consistent route expansion by the airline was a reflection of its “no-city-left-behind’’ initiative. Olisa stated also that the initiative had seen the airline expand its footprints both in Nigeria and beyond, while easing the transportation burden of Nigerians. He said the airline would begin with four flights per week and that passengers could now fly directly from Lagos and Abuja into the Anambra Airport located at Umueri. “This is great news for the people of Anambra as we are launching four flights weekly into the new airport on Tuesday. “For a start, we shall be operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and as operations gather momentum, we shall increase frequencies to daily flights,’’ he stated. Olisa said passengers could start booking on Air Peace’s website: www.flyairpeace.com or on its mobile app, stressing that the airline planned to connect Anambra with other cities outside Lagos and Abuja. He noted that by the end of January 2022, the airline would have started flying Anambra-Kano-Anambra, Anambra-Ibadan-Anambra and Anambra-Port Harcourt-Anambra routes. He added that Air Peace was unwaveringly determined to interconnect Nigeria, providing connections which facilitate seamless economic exchanges and foster unity. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Air Peace currently services 19 domestic routes, six regional routes and two international destinations. The airline operates an increasing modern fleet of 32 aircraft, including four new Embraer 195-E2 jets and two Airbus 320s.
