The questions that keep nabbing me are; where is the money for this lovely project? What happened along the line and why had this project lain abandoned for years? From a very reliable source, we were privy to the information that 25 Billion Naira was sourced from the capital market for this project. Permit me to repeat the figure again, 25 Billion Naira! I am of the opinion that if this amount will not complete this (huge) project, it would have at least gone a long way! What saddened me most was the fact that Phase One of this project has been considered satisfactory by the World Bank. My people the project runs through Uwelu, Evbuotubu, Ekenwan and Ogida, which of these environmental hazards can be considered satisfactory? Edo State has been turned into turmoil by the actions of the state government led by former labour leader, Comrade Adams Oshiomole.

The Government had recently ordered a total demolition of buildings belonging to University of Benin at the Government Reserved Area, GRA.

However, the University authority dragged the government to court, which ought to stall the process, pending the determination of the case by the Appeal Court of Justice.

The governor in his usual manner went ahead, by-passed court injunction and sent bulldozers, including thugs smoking Marijuana which has formed a major part of his government to bring down the houses, while staffs where at work performing their official duties.

The home of the former University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Osayuki Godwin Oshodin was raised now. The house has been reportedly occupied by the ex VC for 34 years only for it to be brought down by Oshiomole.

Yesterday, students and staff barricaded the Lagos-Benin express road for 6-hours, demanding the governor go down on his kneel and tender an unreserved apology to the University authority and Edo people.

Controversial Nigerian televangelist and pastor of the Household of God Church International Ministries, Chris Okotie who one time claimed had a clear message from God to govern Nigeria appears to have ignored that divine message. His name was obviously missing from the list of presidential candidates for the 2015 elections released by INEC.

Nigeria’s anti-ga!y laws may have backfired as it emerged the country had the third highest number of searches for gay nudity in the world.

According to Google, people in East, South and West African nations have enjoyed looking for unclad images of LGBT people more than any other country in the world. PinkNews reports that African countries who are traditionally anti-ga!y people surprising-ling took top spots in Google trends list that showed the people mainly searched for “ga!y porn pics” and “ga!y sex pics” while the United Kingdom and United States came further below, in seventh and eight positions respectively. The reason of this, is because they have better internet infrastructure, so they prefer watching video clips than browsing through images.

According to International Business Times, there was drama in Kogi State when men, heavily harmed to teeth, suspected to members of the Islamic terror group Boko Haram stormed stormed the state prison, and blew the place with dynamites.

An eyewitness, who pleaded for anonymity, confirmed there was heavy gun fire on Sunday, November 2, during the attack that lasted several hours.

Casualties have also been reported, while multiple sources believe the total prisoners freed during the attack was 132, others suggest the figure is nothing less than 144.

Mr Mbam, 32, was accused and tortured by villagers for allegedly stealing N1000 from a shop in the market. He was made to confess to the crime under duress, and in other to free himself from the shame and stigma, he decided to end his life by plunging into a river, where he got drowed and gave up the ghost. The deceased, according to report is from Ebonyi State.

Eyewitness account suggest that, Mr Mbam and his friends had been drinking when the owner of the shop raised an alarm over a missing N1,000 in his carton of drinks. The alarm raised by the shop owner attracted villagers who stormed the scene and gave the suspects until the following day to return the money or face the consequences.

In 1999, residents of the eastern part of Congo were in total shock after news of a tragedy alleged to be caused by witchcraft spread like wild-fire.

An entire Football team of 11 men were struck dead by lightning, but the bizarre part of the event was that nothing happened to the opposing team.

The body of Oyoms Alamieyeseigha, one of the sons of former Bayelsa State Governor, Diepriye Alamieyesegha, was flown into Abuja yesterday October 28th from Dubai via Arik Air, on transit to Port Harcourt, as the family prepare to bury him.

The 30 year old man, who was schooling in Dubai, was found murdered on October. 11th.

Police initially said it was suicide but that has since been ruled out. Hopefully, the people behind his death will be captured.

The 15-year old boy cannot be named due to his age, has been convicted of manslaughter and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life. He shot his girlfriend, Shereka Fab-Ann Marsh, 15, on his birthday. She was shot at the back of the neck by a single bullet from a fake 1930’s Italian Beretta pistol which the boy was looking after in a mire of Violent Gang Confrontation.

The court sentenced the teen to a nine-year jail term, after he was cleared of murder. The teen loved Shereka and fired the gun by accident, the Jurors concluded.

The judge told the boy: ‘Having come into possession of the gun and ammunition plainly in the context of being asked to look after it … you then got it out.

“I have no doubt at all you pointed it at Shereka and pulled the trigger to frighten her and you shot her dead,” He continued.

Immediately after the boy pulled the trigger that killed Shereka, he phoned 999. She was later pronounced dead.

On his arrest at the house, the boy told officers it was ‘an accident’ and exclaimed: “Am I going to hell?”

Later he said, “my girl died on my birthday.”

Nigerian hip-hop sensation Wizkid got a taste of the laws in Nairobi, when he was arrested for smoking in a non-smoking hotel, where he reportedly lodged, in prepartaion to shoot a video and perform in a live concert.

Wizkid who is known to be a heavy marijuana-addict, was accosted by the hotel manager, who discovered the Nigerian celebrity had taken high concentration of marijuana, popular called weed in Nigeria. They both engaged in hot argument which later forced the hotel management into inviting the police.

The First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan has reacted to Gov. Amaechi's statement through her media assistant, Mr. Ayo Adewuyi. She describes Amechi's allegation as a lie meant to rubble the presidency.

Nigeria isn’t doing as bad as many would assume, the country ranks only the 31st most corrupt nation in the world, according to Transparency International.

177 countries were ranked globally in the Corruption Perceptions Index 2013, from the most corrupt countries (index 0) to the least corrupt (index 100). Nigeria received 25 scores.

Countries with the best result were Denmark, New Zealand, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Singapore, Switzerland, Netherlands, Australia, and Canada. They all score above 80.

African countries dominated the “worse top” top; no African country was visible in the “best top” 17.

Best results go to Denmark, New Zealand, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Singapore, Switzerland, Netherlands, Australia, Canada (all above 80).

Reports reaching us says Nollywood superstar, Jim Iyke has joined politics. The actor isn’t currently contesting for any political position, but has become a member of newly registered Young Democratic Party, in the capacity of Director General in the Diaspora.

Jim Iyke explained the vision of the party; He said:

Founder of Synagogue Church of all Nations T.B Joshua, is reportedly making plans to compensate families of victims who died in the building collapse, with N750,000 (R50 000) each.

"We have done a full audit of each family's financial needs and assisted with various household expenses as many of the deceased were breadwinners," spokesperson Kirsten Nematandani said in a statement.

It is believed 85 people from South Africa were among those killed when a multi-storey guesthouse attached to the church, run by Nigerian tele-evangelist TB Joshua, collapsed in Lagos on 12 September.

On Thursday, Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe announced that DNA samples of the 116 victims had arrived at a laboratory in South Africa for analysis.

The DNA process was in the hands of the Nigerian authorities, who had appointed a laboratory in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, to do the analysis.

Nematandani said the church had travelled to all provinces in the past few weeks to visit, counsel and assess families' financial needs and assist where possible.

"The church has pleaded with the Nigerian government to expedite the repatriation process in order for families to bury the deceased with dignity and receive closure," Nematandani said.
