The Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan has been ordered to appear before a Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday so as to testify as a witness in defence of Chief Olisa Metuh, Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party.

According to a court source, Metuh’s legal team files subpoena before Justice Okon Abang shortly after Monday’s proceeding, which the judge later signed it after retiring to his chambers at the end of the proceeding.

The source said, “I can authoritatively tell you that Metuh’s legal team filed the subpoena before the judge on Monday and the judge signed the subpoena promptly after the proceedings on Monday.

“The judge indicated in the subpoena that the former President should appear in court on Wednesday.

“But whether or not the former President would appear in court on Wednesday would be dependent on if the court bailiff will be able to serve him at his home in Abuja between Monday and the end of Tuesday.”

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has alleged that the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari is characterised by lies and propaganda.

Jonathan spoke in Abuja on Thursday when he received one of the national chairmanship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prof. Tunde Adeniran and members of his campaign team in his office.

The Ex-President said the party will hold its national convention in Abuja on December 9 to elect its national officers and solidarity being enjoyed by the party even though it lost election at the centre in 2015 showed that “there is something in the PDP.”

While pledging to speak up some day on the achievements of the PDP in its 16 years in power, the former President took a swipe at the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), who as a state governor reportedly said that a serious government at the centre must be able to fix power within six months.

Captain Maidawa noted the location of the destroyed camp to be in Ajakurama in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state, followed by another in Obaogolo creek off the Ovia River and Ekenhuan.

He dismissed claims by one Mr Esuene Peres that troops of the brigade invaded and sacked the Ajakurama community, describing it as malicious and unfounded.

A Businessman has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s court in Lagos state for defrauding Union Bank of Nigeria.

According to reports, the 47-year-old business man fraudulently doped a Union Bank branch at marina station Plaza, Lagos state the sum of N335m.

Ekuase was arraigned on Monday on three count charge bordering on false pretence and fraud to which he pleaded not guity, bu the police prosecutor, Inspector N. Peter said that the offence was committed sometime in November last year.

The Police inspector also said that the offence was contrary to and punishable under sections 285, 314(1)(a)(b)(2) and 322(3) of the criminal law of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2015.

An overnight protest has been carried out across the Catalonia district and more is expected to take place today, due to the detention of the freedom fighters.

They are being investigated over a protest on 20 September in which a crowd blocked Civil Guard officers inside a building in Barcelona, Catalonia’s regional capital.

Over 27 persons have been killed while asleep in Nkiedonwhro community, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State by unknown gunmen suspected Fulani militants, just 48 hours after government imposed curfew in the L.G.A.

The Fresh attack was about the third in the LGA since Friday when the governor imposed the indefinite dusk-to-dawn curfew.

According to reports, the gunmen stormed the village in the early hours of Monday, shooting indiscriminately.

While one account said 20 persons were killed in a classroom where they ran into for safety, an eyewitness said the villagers were killed in a classroom where they were evacuated to by security operatives.

A resident, who did not want to be quoted, said while some of the people killed had been given a mass burial, those injured were being treated at various hospitals in the Bassa LGA.

Reacting to the allegation of soldiers’ involvement in the killing, the Special Military Special Task Force, codenamed, Operation Safe Haven, deployed to restore law and order in Plateau State, promised to investigate the alleged involvement of soldiers in the killings

The Commander of OPSH, Maj. Gen. Anthony Atolagbe, made the pledge on Monday evening when he went for an on-the-spot assessment of the attack in the village.

He said, “Soldiers have been sent to the headquarters of the OPSH for a proper investigation on how the attack took place in the village under their watch, especially when curfew was imposed in the village and there was supposed to be restriction on movement.”

Somalis Government buries 165 unidentified bodies on Monday after a massive truck bomb attack on Saturday in the Somali capital Mogadishu.

At least 276 people have died and the government news agency, Sonna says only 111 of them have been identified as Turkish military plane takes 40 of the injured to Turkey for medical treatment.

It is the deadliest terror attack in Somalia since the Islamist al-Shabab group launched its insurgency in 2007.

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong imposed curfew in the state capital and others for security reasons and safety of its residence.

Barely 24 hours of imposition, Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Saturday after attacking residence in Taagbe village near Kent Academy in Bassa Local Government Areas of Plateau State, killed no fewer than six persons, houses burnt down.

According to punch report, the attacks followed reported threats of attacks in a community close to Jos Wild Life Park, just five kilometres away from the Village.

A community leader said that “the attacks was deadly, God should intervene and save us from these Fulani boys.

The Fulani herdsmen attacked the villagers at midnight in there large number and struck heavily, killing six persons.

He had also ordered a search and security enforcement operation in the hotbeds of ethnic and religious crises in the state.

The decision was contained in a statement issued in Jos on Friday by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Samuel Nanle.

The government had also directed traditional rulers to ensure strict compliance with the curfew which was reportedly meant to guarantee the peace and security of the residents of the Bassa LGA.

Former President of President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has condemned impression made by the media that his administration is under probe, despite the current trial of his wife Patience Jonathan.

He therefore faulted the impression being created in the media that his administration would be probed by the committee set up by the House of Representatives to look into how the budget allocated to the state House Media Centre since 2015 was spent.

Mr Jonathan added that he had nothing to do with the 2015 budget before handing it over to the incoming administration, President Muhammadi Buhari on May 29 of the same year.
