I thought you deserved my attention chief until I saw your name. I only wish your Political Godfathers and the future of your unborn children well. The issue is that, People in this part of the world are so self centered that they forget the Destinies of their unborn children in a hurry. Guess what? It is not your fault. I blame it on our Socalled Heros. So That is what they has reduced us to. And I wish I can tell you, it's intentional. So you don't ask for what belongs to you. Which is the number one reason Education is a rare commodity in your country sir |

Raphael Ede, Punch Newspaper South-East governors have said they are ready to engage in dialogue with the Indigenous People of Biafra to resolve their differences. IPOB had threatened to attack South-East governors and other Igbo leaders outside the country after beating former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, in Germany for allegedly working their interest. The Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum, Chief David Umahi, told our correspondent on Thursday that they never proscribed IPOB, but rather they banned their activities in the region. The Ebonyi State governor, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Emma Uzo, asked IPOB to convene a meeting and invite the governors for discussions. He said, “IPOB are our children. They are our brothers and sisters. They fight for their fight on the pages of newspapers and social media, and it does not help. The best thing is for all of us to sit down and talk. The governors are ready to speak with them. “They should have a way of coming home or convene a meeting and the governors will attend anywhere they want. Let us sit down and discuss it. And they should know that the governors did not proscribed them, they lack constitutional powers to proscribed them. They only banned their activities in the region where they have jurisdiction.” IPOB on Wednesday through Aloy Ejimakor, counsel for Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB, wrote to the governors, giving conditions for peace to reign. The outlawed group in the letter, titled ‘Operation Python Dance: An Open Letter To South-East Governors’, demanded “immediate and unconditional de-proscription of IPOB and delisting it as a terrorist organisation. A truth and reconciliation commission on the Python Dance lethal military operations of September 2017.” The separatist group added, “A public apology for the extrajudicial killing of IPOB members and desecration of the palace of an Igbo traditional ruler at Afaraukwu, Abia State. A genuine dialogue with IPOB on its referendum demand for the restoration of Biafra and discontinuance of the ongoing prosecution of IPOB members and forbearance of any future arrests and prosecutions.” But the governors said the group were channelling their demands to the wrong people. Umahi said, “Why can’t they channel their grievances straight to the Federal Government? So, that demand is dead on arrival. It is not the governors that will apologise to them but rather they should apologise to the governors and Ndigbo.” On whether they will lift the ban on IPOB activities in the zone, Umahi said the issue would be discussed at the meeting (convened by IPOB). https://punchng.com/were-ready-for-dialogue-seast-govs-tell-ipob/amp/ |

https://i1.wp.com/zimnews.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/murozvi-burial-mugabe.jpg?fit=800%2C450&ssl=1 The late former President Robert Mugabe’s body is expected in the country on Wednesday and burial is slated for Sunday at the National Heroes Acre. This was revealed by Presidential spokesperson, George Charamba who claimed that there was never any differences in opinion between the Government and family on where Mugabe would be buried. He said: It is the timeline that we are working with, but subject to confirmation with the leadership. The major decisions will be taken tomorrow in the context of the proposed programme. According to the proposed programme, Mugabe’s body is expected to be received at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the Mugabe and Marufu family members and chiefs from Zvimba. It will then be taken to his rural home in Zvimba. The body is expected to be placed in the National Sports Stadium where mourners from the country’s 10 provinces would have an opportunity to bid him farewell. Meanwhile, a team of government officials alongside the Mugabe and Marufu family members and Zanu-PF party representatives is expected to leave for Singapore shortly to assist Mrs Grace Mugabe in repatriating the body. |

https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/raji-tinubu-1024x800.jpeg A national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has reacted to the death of Alhaji Rafiu Babatunde Tinubu, son of Dr. Abdul Hameed Saka Tinubu. DAILY POST reported ealier that a former Head of Service in Lagos State, Alhaji Rafiu Tinubu died in Abuja on Wednesday at the age of 75, after a brief illness. In a statement he personally signed and made available to DAILY POST on Thursday, Bola Tinubu said, “It was with a heavy heart that I received the news of the passing away on, Wednesday, September 4, 2019, of my first cousin and eminent member of our highly-respected family, Alhaji Rafiu Babatunde Tinubu, son of Dr. Abdul Hameed Saka Tinubu. “The memory of this distinguished public servant, passionate Lagosian and patriotic Nigerian popularly known simply as RAB by all and sundry will ever remain fresh in my mind particularly because of the critical role he played in helping to lay a firm foundation for the success of my administration during my two-term tenure as governor of Lagos State between 1999 and 2007. “Coming into office as governor from the private sector, I knew that I needed a Head of the State Civil Service who I could trust and who would help forge a harmonious relationship between my administration and the public service on which the success of any government depends to a significant extent. Nobody at that time could fit the bill as perfectly as Alhaji Rafiu Babatunde Tinubu. “As a family member, he would understandably desire nothing but the success of my administration. But much more than that, he had the requisite intellectual grounding as well as public service managerial experience, rising from the lower rungs to the upper echelon of the Lagos State Public Service between 1978 and 1999. “With a Bachelor’s (B.A) and Master’s (M.A) degrees in Political Science from the prestigious Howard University, Washington, D.C., USA, he joined the Lagos State Public Service in June 1978 after a teaching stint at the Department of Political Science of the then University of Ife between 1974 and 1978. “Before his appointment as my administration’s first Head of Service (HOS) in 1999, Alhaji Rafiu Tinubu had served with dedication and distinction in various administrative positions both in the State Civil Service and Local Government Service over a period of two decades. “His experience and dexterity in the complex politics of the public service was of tremendous value to my administration and helped to gradually build and sustain a cordial working relationship between the political class and the bureaucratic machinery of the public service. “I recall that at the inception of my administration, there was a protracted labour crisis between the government and the public service as a result of the new minimum wage of N7, 500.00, which the state was unable to pay at the time due to the near insolvent state of its finances. “Alhaji Tinubu’s experience and wise counsel played a crucial role in enabling us go through that difficult period and forge a relationship of mutual trust, confidence and respect by both parties especially as the capacity of our administration to meet our welfare obligations to workers systematically grew as a result of our far-reaching reforms. “His advice helped us greatly in appointing a team of highly capable, experienced and dedicated Permanent Secretaries who played indelible roles in our administration’s success in laying a solid foundation for the continuing transformation of Lagos. “At the same time, we commenced during his tenure as HOS, the reorganization, reequipping and transformation of the Lagos State Public Service to the pride of place it occupies in Nigeria’s public administration today. “Alhaji Rafiu Tinubu was particularly passionate about recruiting new, talented hands into the Service, which commenced with the employment of 5000 fresh graduates into the civil service in Y2000 popularly known as the millennium staff. It is gratifying that these have today risen to critical managerial positions in the Service. “The late Rafiu Tinubu came, saw and gave his very best to the development of the Lagos State Civil Service, Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole. I condole with his wives, his children, the extended Tinubu family, all his loved ones as well as the government and people of Lagos State on this sad loss. “I pray that his soul rest in perfect peace with his creator (Amin).” |
