https://www.ijmbcentres.com/2019/08/21/very-important-things-you-should-know-before-you-enrol-for-ijmb-programme/
IJMB as it is popularly known stands for Interim Joint Matriculation Board; it’s an A’Level Programme just like Cambridge A’Level and it’s being regulated by Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. Students who have passed the IJMB examination with the required points can use the result to apply for 200 Level admission into any University in Nigeria via Direct Entry.

You might have it in mind to enrol for IJMB Programme or you are probably still planning; whichever way, there are some very vital things you need to know about Interim Joint Matriculation Board as an A’Level Programme.

As of the time of writing this article, IJMB A’Level Programme has been accredited by Nigeria University Commission (NUC) as an alternative means of gaining admission into Nigerian Universities; admission is into 200 Level so far you meet the required points for the course you have chosen.
The Programme is for a duration of nine (9) months. This means for this period, you will be receiving intensive lectures so as to prepare you for the final exam which is conducted by ABU at the end of the programme.
You are required to pick three (3) subjects that best suit the course you intend to study at the University. These subject combination must be relevant to the course.

At any of our study centres, IJMBE lectures run from Monday to Friday of every week. While practicals for the science students are on Saturday of every week. Note that lectures generally can hold on Saturday and Sunday if need be especially for those who registered late and are required to take make-up classes.

Do you know that the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) examination is one of the best kept open secrets to get admission to a Nigerian university? Or that IJMBCENTRES is the most recognized and accredited IJMB study centre in the country with an excellent pedigree of helping students gain admission to a university spanning over a decade?

Every year, hundreds of thousands of students have to endure the frustration of missing out on university admission. For many of those students, that failure has little to do with their performance at the yearly Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) organized by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

A candidate could pass the UTME with flying colours and still miss out on admission. The latest figures from JAMB indicate that over 1.6 million candidates sat for the UTME. But only 30% are likely to get admission to a university of their choice.

Comparatively, the statistics for the number of candidates who are admitted to Universities through IJMB (IJAMB) is literally more than the JAMB admission stats.

For instance, of the about 30,000+ IJMB applicants annually:

There is a 93% pass rate
81% successful admission rate to a university
75% of those admitted get to read their first choice course
The gulf between students seeking admission in Nigerian tertiary institutions and the actual number admitted through the UTME would continue to grow in the coming years.

In other words, unless an alternative is found, many more candidates would keep seeing their dreams of becoming a university student crash.

For many years now, that alternative is IJMB and many students studying in universities today owe their good fortune to the comprehensive guidance they got through IJMBCentres.

What is Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB)?
The Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) was established in 1976 by the Interim Common Services Agency of the old Northern Regional Government of Nigeria.

IJMB at inception had two basic functions: to provide social services and educational opportunities to people of the Northern region of the country. Now though, it has grown to encompass the whole country providing the best pathway to university education in the country.

Since the beginning, IJMB has been moderated and coordinated by one of Nigeria’s premier tertiary universities, the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. The program also has coordinating bodies in various tertiary institutions around the country.

To make it accessible to as many Nigerians as possible, there are accredited IJMB centres across the country of which IJMBCENTRES is one of the foremost.

Eligibility
The program is open to all Nigerians with the requisite ‘O’ Level qualifications. Candidates who are also awaiting their ‘O’ Level result are eligible to apply for the programme.

Courses/subjects categories
There are no restrictions in the categories of subjects in IJMB. Science, Arts and Social Science students are eligible to apply as long as they fulfil the eligibility criteria.

Candidates who enrol for the program are required to choose three ‘A’ Level subjects for the IJMB examination.

These subjects, one of which must be English Language, should be related to the candidate’s intended course of study at the university.

Candidates are then expected to receive lectures at the study centres of their choice to prepare them for the exams.

That is why it is imperative for candidates to select the best study centres available to ensure they come out of the program with excellent results.

Duration of program
Officially, IJMB is a 9 months program. Lectures start between March and April and run through to the whole year. The exams proper start sometime in January or the first week of February the following year.

It is a three weeks exams with the results expected to be released by the end of April.

At IJMBCENTRES, candidates are encouraged to enrol at the centre early as we believe getting excellent results are directly linked to early preparation.

For that reason, registration starts in November and end in April of the following year. Lectures are scheduled to start between March and April.

So it’s best to get the registration sorted out early so we can all get down to preparing for the examination without distractions.

Why IJMB is important
It is now clear that the IJMB pathway is the best alternative to getting admission to Nigerian universities outside of the JAMB-organized UTME. With IJMB, candidates are placed in a highly organized and structured environment to aid them to excel in the IJMB examination.

Apart from that, going through IJMB in an accredited study centre like IJMBCENTRES ensures that candidates are given a peep into how lectures and studies are done in a real university in Nigeria.

This is important as many new students find it hard to cope with the university environment after secondary school where everything is organized for the student.

Other reasons why IJMB is the way to go include:

It is recognized by the National Universities Commission (NUC) as a program leading to an advanced level certification in the chosen subjects.
Successful candidates gain admission to the university via Direct Entry. That means they get into 200 level, skipping the first year of university since the IJMB program is equivalent to the first year of university.
The IJMB ‘A’ level result is recognized around the world as a valid ‘A’ Level certification.
Unlike JAMB, successful IJMB candidates don’t have to repeat the examination. It is a lifetime certificate that would always remain valid to be used at any time in the future.
How to use the IJMB Result to gain admission
The IJMB can be used to gain admission into the 200 level in any approved Nigerian University.

A candidate wishing to use to result in her admission into the University must follow these steps:

1. Visit the nearest JAMB office to get the Direct Entry (DE) form. Alternatively, you can visit the JAMB website and click on the DE link to get to the required portal.

2. Fill the form on the website or the hardcopy you bought from the JAMB office.

Make sure the details you provided match your IJMB result.

3. In the form, you have the option of choosing your preferred university (first option) and an alternate choice (second option). You are allowed to make up to six choices

The course you chose would be directly related to how well you perform in the IJMB examination. That is why it is important to choose a quality study centre.

A good IJMB study centre combined with hard work and diligent study would surely guarantee your IJMB result would get you any course you desire.

(insert link): Check here to see the courses and points requirements for various universities

Universities that accept IJMB Candidates
While filling out the Direct Entry form, make sure your choice of university accepts IJMB result for entry into 200 level.

All the universities in Northern Nigeria accept students with IJMB result. In the south, over 75% of the universities, whether federal, state or private, accept successful IJMB candidates into various courses in the respective universities.

However, even though the poll of Universities for IJMB candidates to choose from is wide, there are some universities that are considered the best vis-a-vis:

The number of IJMB intakes yearly
The number of courses on offer for IJMB candidates
The following are the list of some of the top federal and state universities that admit IJMB candidates:

University of Ilorin, Ilorin
University of Benin, Benin City
Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
Delta State University, Abraka
University of Abuja, FCT
Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta
Federal University of Technology, Minna

Romance / Women Now Pay £147 To Allow A Stranger Rub Their Vaginas? by NewsINigeria(m): 11:31am On Mar 09, 2016
A new sex trend gaining grounds in the U.S and Britain now sees women who have non-fulfilling sex lives pay a whooping £147 per session for a stranger to rub their clitoris as they undergo 'orgasmic' classes. The practice involves group masturbation classes which promise “larger state of consciousness, improving intimacy in relationships and generally increasing your orgasm skills”.

A typical orgasmic meditation session involves a woman undressing from the waist down while a practitioner strokes her clitoris for 15 minutes.

Before the male practitioner strokes her on the clit, he first of all tells her about the uses and benefits of the vagina and the functions of the different sections of the clitoris. Such hilarity!

Orgasmic meditation has been growing in popularity since it was founded in 2001 by Nicole Daedone and her San Francisco-based organisation OneTaste .

There are more than 10,000 practitioners and 2,000 already in the UK alone. Nicole Daedone said "The female orgasm is vital for every single woman on the planet."

The advice is contained in the university’s official bulletin, a copy of which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

It noted that while deserving female members of staff of the institution had been proceeding on maternity leave, their male counterparts were yet to enjoy it.

“The university authority hereby reminds members of staff (male) of the existing Lagos State Maternity and Paternity Leave approved for employees in the state’s civil service.

“It would be recalled that the university authority at its meeting on Sept. 8, 2014, considered and approved the implementation of the new Lagos State maternity and paternity leave for officials in the state’s public service,’’ it said.

According to the bulletin, the male members of staff ‎who wish to make official request for paternity leave are to do so on the first day of delivery of the baby.

“In addition, for deliveries that fall on weekends, application should be forwarded to the establishment on the first day of work.

“Please, note that paternity leave is for the first 10 days in relation to and at the time of the first two deliveries of a male staff’s spouse,” the publication said.

24-yr-old Nigerian Software Engineer Builds Artificial Intelligence Robot At Sri Lankan University
A Nigerian Software Engineering student,Bobai Ephraim Kato, has built a functional Artificial Intelligence robot as his final year project at the International College of Business and Technology (ICBT), Sri Lanka.

Kato, a 24-year old from the Atyap tribe in Kaduna State, personally built the robot and developed the algorithm that enabled it solved the famous Rubik cube puzzle in a manner of minutes. But it was not an easy journey to success because he had to deal with an unimpressed supervisor and a lot of failures in the course of the project.

An early love for computing
I’m a self-directed learner willing to experiment with new things; with a high level of contextual and technological insight. I was a science student who loved computing and technology, I represented my school in computer competitions but I was never successful in any, and that discouraged me.

I knew I was really doing well in Chemistry, Physics and Biology, so I thought I will do well if I went after a medical career. In my final year in secondary school I became the health prefect and that confirmed to me that I was going to be a doctor.

I have received awards in sports including Athletics, Basketball, and Chess and I also won the best singer for a music competition here in Sri Lanka in 2014.
Rejected by Nigerian universities
After completing my secondary school in 2009, I wrote JAMB exams twice applying for Medicine Course in Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, but I never got admitted. I also tried the university’s remedial school and still wasn’t admitted. I then decided to change my choice of university and applied to the Kaduna State University (KASU) where I was granted the admission to study medicine. Unfortunately, on the day of my course registration I wasn’t allowed to register because I had not passed English in WAEC. So I moved on to the KASU remedial school.

It was during my remedial that I decided to try NIIT (National Institute of Information Technology) scholarship exams in which I emerged the second highest. The scholarship granted me a chance to return to computing. I then decided to leave the remedial school to register with NIIT to study software Engineering. After completing a year in NIIT my cousin decided to get me an admission in Sri Lanka Institute of Technology (SLIIT).
Going overseas and starting over
I left NIIT and travelled down to Sri Lanka. When I got to Sri Lanka in 2012, I started University all over again. I completed my first semester in SLIIT but I wasn’t happy in the school because they focused more on IT (Information Tech) while I wanted software Engineering. I then decided to leave SLIIT to Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) which was affiliated to University of Westminster UK.

So I then started university over again, I stayed in IIT for 2 years and I completed my diploma and advance diploma. My third year at IIT required that I take an internship for a year before I complete the fourth year. But I couldn’t take an internship because of my visa status which clearly stated that I’m not allowed to work, paid or unpaid job.

I then left IIT in 2014 to ICBT to complete my degree in software Engineering (2015 September 20th).
Accidental Project?
To be honest I didn’t plan to make the project this great. I didn’t know it will happen. I guess it’s safe to say that I randomly chose the idea for my final year project, it has nothing to do with my passion and future plans. Though I took a module called Artificial Intelligent System while studying in the university and that module was just so interesting, I learnt some few AI languages and I was able to do a mini project called WINE QUALITY TEST software which uses and Artificial Intelligence to determine the quality of a wine drink. This software used some data set for its prediction. I enjoyed the whole development process.

Coming to my final year project we was all asked to do a software that uses AI (artificial intelligence) for predictions and solutions; that got me worried because I barely came up with an idea. So I decide to spend time making research and I came up with something. I proposed to do a robot that solves puzzles, I wasn’t sure what puzzles as I had a lot in mind but I final choose the Rubik cube puzzle.

I then decide to make further research on what tools to use and I found out that there are many tools out there that I can use for a robotic design.
Building the Robot in the midst of disappointment
I then started developing the algorithm to solve the Rubik cube. My supervisor was never impressed with the progress all he cared about was to see a robot working. I spent most of the time researching and he thought I wasn’t going to make it happen.

I was able to create the algorithms that solves the puzzle. I created 16 different algorithms which served as set of skills for the robot. With these sets of skills, I used an artificial intelligence language called ‘R’ to develop a pattern for the robot to choose the best skills to solve the puzzle. So basically R was the AI part of my robot. It’s very easy to use. I also had a database where the new skills are saved. So the more the robot solves the cube the more intelligent it becomes.

I spent two nights building the robot and after completing the construction, I installed the software which serves as the brain into a memory card for testing.

My first 5 tests were a failure. The robot always shot a scanning error, and this was a week to my final submission. All I could do was pray. I didn’t know what to do again. I was confused and restless. I kept grinding and it finally started working. At that stage, the robot wasn’t intelligent enough and I had to train it to solve many puzzles to get more skills to save in the database.

It was very hard for me because I can’t even solve the Rubik cube myself. The robot is smarter than me in that aspect.
Coming back to save Nigeria
My focus now is on Forensic computing, Cyber Security and Digital Investigation. This is the path I will love to follow for my career and education. I’m happy to return back to Nigeria as a Cyber Security and Digital forensic Tech. If anything, that’s what Nigeria needs more. We need people who are savvy and sincere in Digital Investigation, Cyber Security and Forensic computing. The world today is bent on technology, the corruption in the world today is bent on it too.

I don’t get how a country will say they can’t locate the terrorist living in the country, and I don’t get how a country will say they don’t know the sponsors on this terrorist group. They make calls, they send emails, they use the internet for many reasons, they upload videos etc. Just one amongst this list is enough to get whoever is responsible. We only need savvy and honest people to do this.

Many Nigerians have useful skills, but money determines how, where and what we use it for. My heart is to return home. To be honest I don’t have a dream of staying in a foreign country. I must tell you something I hate the fact that my current status in my life is being a foreigner. I hate the feeling that I’m not in my own country.

So I’m on a fast track back to Nigeria. Many tell me that there isn’t opportunity in Nigeria. That’s very true but I will deal with it.
