Men of the Plateau State Police Command have arrested a 40-year-old man, Surulere Raphael, for cutting off his daughter’s finger on allegation that she stole his money.
Mr Raphael was paraded on Friday at the police headquarters alongside one Ponjue Domsing, who was alleged to have killed his father, Mr. Domsing, for not buying him a motorcycle as promised.
Raphael said he cut off his daughter’s finger because she stole his N1,500 and meat from her mother’s pot of soup. The girl’s severed finger has, however, been recovered as an exhibit, while the girl is being treated in the hospital.
The state Commissioner of Police, Nasiru Oki, said the suspects would be charged to court for culpable homicide and criminal conspiracy.
He said:
“The Plateau State Police Command, in its resolve to rid the state of crime and criminal activities, has arrested some murder suspects and other individuals for various offences ranging from criminal conspiracy to armed robbery and car snatching.
May 2, 2015, at Doruwa Vwang village in Shendam Local Government Area of the state, one Ponjue Domsing killed his father, Mr. Domsing, for refusing to buy a motorcycle for him as promised. The investigation has been completed and the suspect will soon appear in court when court resumes from strike.
Also on May 4, 2015, there was a report from Bukuru Division that one Christopher Vincent was stabbed to death by Mondam Pam and dumped his body by the roadside along Zawan Road. Detectives arrested the deceased’s girlfriend, Magdaline Fidelis, and upon interrogation, she confessed that the deceased was killed by Monday Pam over misunderstanding between them in her house.”

Stop Offering Excuses PDP Replies Buhari

Read the PDP press statement below...

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described as evasive, diversionary and preemptive, the present government’s pile up of excuses for possible failure in delivering on its campaign promises to Nigerians.

The PDP said it is unfortunate that President Mohammadu Buhari and the APC, who were privy to the nation’s dwindling economy occasioned by global economic downturn and fall in international oil price, even before the start of the campaigns, chose to deceive Nigerians with bogus promises, only to now resort to excuses after using the promises to secure power at the center.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh in a statement on Tuesday said the party notes with dismay, President Buhari’s statement on Monday that Nigerians should not expect much from his first 100 days in office on claims that he met “virtually an empty treasury and huge debts”, noting that such only underlines the fact that the present administration is really not equipped to face the challenges of governance.

“While we restate our resolve to engage only in credible and issue based opposition, we want the President and the APC to note that their plea for patience from Nigerians does not arise, because ab-initio, there has not been any indication that they are actually serious and determined to deliver on their campaign promises upon which they rode to power.

“Of course Nigerians are willing to support and cooperate with the President, but we are worried that the pictures emerging from his presidency and his party do not in any way inspire hope in the citizenry, especially as they have continued to show that theirs is ostensibly a matter of obtaining power by false pretenses.

“President Buhari and the APC must know that Nigerians did not give them the mandate to engage in frivolous excuses and pleas but to hit the ground running with solutions and quick fixes they promised during the campaigns.

We ask, is President Buhari’s statement an admission of poor knowledge of national and international economic affairs or does it underscore the lack of capacity and skills by the administration to effectively harness and galvanize resources and potential inherent in Nigeria which has already been nurtured as Africa’s largest economy and one of the fasted growing in the world.

“Even if Nigerians decide to wait endlessly, we wonder how much the President can achieve amidst the flip-flops from his presidency and cacophony of interests from his party leaders struggling to enlarge their selfish political and economic frontiers.

“How can one reconcile President Buhari’s statement with the recent ridiculous and misleading claim by APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed that this administration has achieved in three weeks what the immediate past administration did not achieve in five years?

“Since after their electoral victory, the APC and the President have continued to expose their lack of commitment towards their campaign promises.

“We recall that on May 5, 2015, twenty-four days before his inauguration, President Buhari at a meeting with APC leaders in Abuja opened the excuse galore when he expressed his nervousness to deliver in office, adducing that ‘Rome was not built in a day’.

“We also recall that in their attempt to find an escape route in one of their bogus campaign promises, the APC denied that the President ever promised Nigerians that they will end insurgency two months after inauguration but had to swallow their words after the PDP confronted them with the April 22, 2015 CNN interview where Buhari made that promise.

“Indeed, we empathize with the President knowing that the confusion and clear lack of direction in his party have not helped matters, but we urge him to rise up to the challenge, take urgent steps and disentangle himself from the selfish and unpatriotic tendencies of APC leaders, especially given the fact that Nigerians gave him a mandate for which they will continue to hold him accountable.

“Finally, the PDP restates that it is eager to see the APC and the President unveil their economic roadmap and blueprint for governance so as to enable us through robust opposition, provide credible alternatives and options for their policies and programmes in the overall interest of our dear nation”.

Signed:

Chief Olisa Metuh

National Publicity Secretary

This is a sad story of Nollywood actress, Yetunde Akilapa who has been branded a thief due to a strange voice she claims pushes her to steal. I think this is when we need a prolific pastor to step out and help this young lady. Just months after she was almost beaten to death by a mob in Magodo for finding a way into a man’s flat with the help of a master key, Yetunde has once again been disgraced at Yaba where she has decided to go and learn makeup to put body and soul together.
The young lady who is popular for the bad name-thief, decided to steal from her boss, the lady who teaches her makeup, who just stocked her shop with iphones, laptops and other gadgets she newly brought into the country. At the close of day, everybody went home, but Yetunde came back later at night with a master key. She gained entrance into the store and took away some iphones, ipads and laptops before someone spotted her. She was accosted and later arrested but as usual, she blamed it on the devil and the strange voice she usually hears. Continue…
The shop owner who was called and later rushed to the scene, called in the police who whisked her away. But two days after, Yetunde was released and that made the lady upset and called in another set of police men who have now arrested her and waiting to charge her to court.
Her sister, Bose Akilapa who is so upset about the dilemma her sister has found herself, said their mother is behind Yetunde’s misfortune because she once cursed her. Angry bose is said to have gone to call her mother names and asking her to reverse the curse and in-between the argument she tore her mother’s clothes. We pray God takes away whatever it is from her. Yetunde only recently bought a Toyota Matrix car.

Politics / I Remain Loyal To President Buhari – Says Atiku by NewsINigeria(m): 10:31am On Jun 22, 2015

I Remain Loyal To President Buhari – says Atiku

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has pledged his loyalty and support to President Muhammadu Buhari. Atiku’s pledge is contained in a statement on Sunday by his media office.

“Make no mistake about it Atiku Abubakar holds Buhari in the highest esteem, and would always remain loyal to him, and support him in every endeavour to succeed as president,” the statement signed by the head of the media team, Paul Ibe, said.

Atiku's open pledge of loyalty to the President comes amidst widespread rumours that he was a mastermind of the emergence of Bukola Saraki as Senate President to frustrate Buhari.

Saraki, who like Atiku, is a member of President Buhari’s All Progressives Congress, APC, emerged senate president when some APC senators were absent due to a scheduled meeting with Buhari.
Since his emergence, which was initially rejected by the APC, Saraki has been making efforts to reconcile with the president.

Atiku, who like Saraki, decamped from the PDP to APC before the general elections, described the politics of the emergence of Saraki as a product "of interplay of politics which is itself in constant motion."

Many Northerners are angry with Atiku for his "obvious" support for Saraki's insubordination.
