Politics / (opinion) Prof Ahmad Isah Haruna Explodes: TY Danjuma Is A Defense Expert, And S by newslinkngr: 8:52am On Mar 31, 2018
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/opinion-prof-ahmad-isah-haruna-explodes.html
First of all before one insults anyone based on his opinion or courage to speak the obvious, one must assess himself objectively whether he is human or subhuman. General T Y Danjuma openly express the complicity of military in handling crises and because of the rot in the security system, he categorically said in a convocation lecture that everybody should defend himself using all means. Is the convocation lecture meant for his tribe or the university and all people attending from different parts of Nigeria? It was an avenue to say his words to the hearing of every Nigerian and world over.

If his statement were meant for his tribe, he has other ways of telling them and not during a convocation ceremony. Is there anything wrong with what he said or is it new? No, it is a common problem that all people in crises areas could tell, for example, the only time the people of Maiduguri stopped the military from breaking their houses, arbitrarily arresting and killing their youths under the pretext of fighting boko haram was when they initiated the concept of civilian JTF to defend themselves.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/opinion-prof-ahmad-isah-haruna-explodes.html
Was it not the same military that killed over 1000 civilians (men, women (young and old), children and even infants in Zaria in December, 2015 under the watch and approval of the president? Amongst all the people criticising TY Danjuma today, how many of them did not celebrate Zaria genocide?where were the journalists, pressmen and big degrees in the north then? They were all praising the Zaria genocide and fabricating lies to defend it. So since you all justify the crimes committed by the military in your domain, do you expect General T Y Danjuma to behave like you? So where exactly did T Y Danjuma went wrong? If you are directly or indirectly an accomplice to genocide, what credentials and moral quality do you have to criticise the one who came out to say the truth.. If you are good in telling lies and defending it, truth is a secondary issue to you.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/opinion-prof-ahmad-isah-haruna-explodes.html
In Nigeria of today, when someone speaks, people consider your tribe and religion before they answer you but not the weight of your message because they put their sentiments first before anything else. Who can deny the fact that a military General in the position of TY Danjuma is a defence expert, and so if a person of his caliber loose confidence in the security system, then there is a big problem that is worth investigating because experience is the best teacher. You don't expect everyone to be silent on pressing national issues because the project Nigeria is beyond the ambition of anybody. Nigeria is meant for all and therefore everyone has a say in building and maintaining the country

Politics / Arewa: Nothing Is Wrong With President Buhari Granting Amnesty To Repentant Boko by newslinkngr: 4:42pm On Mar 25, 2018
National Publicity Secretary of ACF, Alhaji Muhammad Biu, reacting to report of President Buhari granting Amnesty to repetant Boko Haram members, told reporters on Saturday evening that nothing was wrong with the decision.

Northern socio-political group, Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has backed President Muhammadu Buhari’s plan to grant unconditional amnesty to repentant Boko Haram members.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/arewa-nothing-is-wrong-with-president.html

According to the ACF, such measure was adopted by the previous government to curb the restiveness in the Niger Delta region.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/arewa-nothing-is-wrong-with-president.html
The ACF said, “The offer of unconditional amnesty by the Federal Government to Boko Haram terrorists or any other groups who surrender their arms, denounce their militancy and then pledge their loyalty to the government is a welcome development, considering the insecurity posed by insurgency in the last nine years.

“It will be recalled that the Biafran rebels and Niger Delta militants, who denounced their rebellion and militancy against the state, were not only granted amnesty but also empowered with skills and re-integrated into society to contribute to its socio-economic development.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/arewa-nothing-is-wrong-with-president.html
“The ACF, therefore, urges the insurgents and other militia groups to lay down their arms and embrace the Federal Government’s offer of amnesty as the only means to peaceful coexistence and development.

“This will also pave the way for Nigeria to pursue order, justice, liberty, peace and prosperity for all.”

The four IPOB members includes Bright Chimezie, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, are facing charges alongside the elusive IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/nnamdi-kanu-federal-government-resume.html
The Justice Binta Nyako-led court had in 2017 granted Kanu bail but ordered that the four other IPOB members be remanded in Kuje prison.

However, the Nigerian Government had on March 20, 2018 re-arraigned the four IPOB members on an amended three-count charge.

Speaking during Thursday’s trial, the witness, simply identified as Mr AB, gave his testimony behind a barricade, where only the judge, the defendants and the counsel could see him as he was shielded from the public.

Led in evidence by Shuaibu Labaran, counsel to the Department of State Security Services, (DSS), AB told the Justice Nyako led court that he met Chimezie in 2016 when he was brought to DSS office for interrogation.

According to AB, “My boss asked me to interview him and in the process, he told me why and where he was arrested. He also told me that he is a member of IPOB and that he joined while in Port Harcourt.

“He also said that he took a delivery imported by the group containing a container from Lagos to Ihiala, Anambra, to the compound of Benjamin Madubugwu, the second defendant.

“It was also revealed that Chimezie, in 2016 was in-charge of the welfare of the members of the group and he collected money from some of the group’s sponsors based abroad for the members.”

Politics / Biafra: It Is Time To Make Use Of Biafrans Ideas, For Nigeria To Be Better - Shi by newslinkngr: 12:52pm On Mar 22, 2018
The Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, adviced the Nigerian Government to trace innovators of the defunct Biafra who are still alive for them to deploy their technological know-how towards the nation’s drive for industrialisation.

Adebayo Shittu was unhappy as the nation has failed recognize the great innovations propelled by the three-year war, which ended in 1970, by making use of those he described as great minds that sustained the then Biafra army.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/biafra-it-is-time-to-make-use-of.html

Shittu, who spoke at the commissioning of Technology Orientation Centre, built by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), at Idu, Abuja, yesterday, urged the agency to go beyond the elite environment and trace those innovators, most of whom did not even have university education.

“I recall that during the civil war, we had so many innovators from Nnewi and other parts of eastern region then. So many people, who didn’t have university education, developed so many technological infrastructure in the East”, Sun quoted him as saying.

“But it looks like after the war, they were forgotten. I think Nigeria should look for these great minds that may not have had university education but in terms of innovativeness, they sustained to a great deal the then Biafra Republic Army.

“I think that NASENI should move beyond the elite environment and look for these people who I believe are going to add great value to what NASENI has been doing.http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/biafra-it-is-time-to-make-use-of.html

“Again, there is need for us to start challenging ourselves. Number one, up till today, toothpicks are still imported; serviette papers are still being imported. Up till today, so many small things are still imported into Nigeria.

“It’s not enough for us to look for the big targets in terms of engineering infrastructure. I think we should not leave behind those small items that we need on daily basis.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/biafra-it-is-time-to-make-use-of.html
“These are things that ordinarily if we have them produced locally, will be patronised by virtually every Nigerian. I will suggest that our immediate target like the President has always said, is that we should produce what we eat,” he stated.

President Muhammadu Buhari Speaks on the release of Dopchi school girls, compare his administration with that of former government, Jonathans government. He said the former President, Goodluck Jonathan’s administration was slow in response to a similar abduction in Chibok, Borno State.

According to Buhari, while his government swung into action immediately after the abduction, the last administration looked the other way when the Chibok girls were abducted in 2014.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/dopchi-school-girls-my-regime-is-fast.html
This, the President said at a town hall meeting with traditional/community leaders and other stakeholders in Damaturu, Yobe State as part of activities lined up for his official visit to the state.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/dopchi-school-girls-my-regime-is-fast.html
Buhari said, “The Federal Government’s response to the unfortunate abduction of the school girls is a clear departure from the insensitivity of the past administration which looked the other way while the Chibok girls were taken away in 2014 and held in captivity for over three years.

“Due to our commitment, over 100 Chibok girls have been rescued and reunited with their families, sent back to school and empowered with requisite skills.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/dopchi-school-girls-my-regime-is-fast.html
“You may recall that recently, our negotiation efforts led to the release of abducted University of Maiduguri lecturers, some women police personnel, students and even an NYSC member.

“We, therefore, have no doubt that the Dapchi girls will be rescued or released. I can reassure parents, Nigerians and the International Community that we will do all that is within our power to make sure that the girls are brought back safely to their families.”

Politics / Ndigbo Will Produce Nigeria President In 2023 If They Adopt ‘political Diplomacy by newslinkngr: 3:08pm On Mar 18, 2018
The Buhari Support Organisation, BSO, on Sunday appealed to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to adopt political diplomacy rather than get confrontational.

BSO urged the group to carefully listen to the elderly and candid advice of Chief John Nnia Nwodo, President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo and by extension Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide.
This appeal was contained in a statement by the Public Secretary of BSO, Enugu State Chapter, Mr. Eze Chibueze in Enugu.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/ndigbo-will-produce-nigeria-president.html

Chibueze said he didn’t see anything wrong with the candid advice proffered by Chief Nwodo that those agitating for the restoration of Biafra as a sovereign nation should adopt political diplomacy, instead of name calling, fighting, quarreling or insulting other ethnic groups.

Nwodo was quoted as saying,

“We cannot get Biafra by fighting and insulting people. We cannot get restructuring by shouting, we can get it by political diplomacy. I must tell you the truth.”
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/ndigbo-will-produce-nigeria-president.html
Reacting in a statement by its spokesman, Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB took a swipe on Chief Nwodo for allegedly profiling IPOB as a militant organization and conveying erroneous impression about the activities of the organisation.

But, Chibueze stated that BSO Enugu State shared the same opinion with Chief Nwodo.

He recalled that after the 2nd World War, in spite of thousands of human casualty claimed by the callous atomic bomb of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States of America, the Japanese resorted to political diplomacy and became friends with the United States to regain their enviable status on the global stage, so also the Germans, and therefore, Ndigbo cannot be different.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/ndigbo-will-produce-nigeria-president.html
Chibueze said BSO was appalled that IPOB and co seemed to be toying with the fate of Ndigbo who remained one of the ethnic nationalities, which would benefit most from President Muhammadu Buhari’s Roads, Rails, Agriculture and Power (RRAP) projects, as well as Foreign Direct Investment and other critical infrastructural projects flowing with the RRAP.

Soyinka, while speaking at the Ripples Nigeria Dialogue in Lagos, on Thursday, charged the president to declare herdsmen terrorists

“We expect the president to have the courage to declare such monsters as terrorists and enemies of humanity with the same dispatch in which he declared the far less violent, albeit, disruptive IPOB terrorists. We expect a culture of even-handedness”, he said.

“I have always refrained from labelling the herdsmen as Fulani but since they have publicly come out to admit they are responsible for the killings, we can say they are Fulani herdsmen.

“An organisation has been rampaging the nation armed to the teeth and descending on innocent people. Their spokesman appeared on TV, unrepentant, distorting history, calling on a state government to rescind their laws and proceeding to defy such laws.

“They went ahead and threatened continuation of the same acts of degradation. The nation has been placed on the defensive simply because of the failing of governance.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/wole-soyinka-blast-buhari-declare.html
“Have you ever encountered a more cynical rendition of the sequence of events when spokesmen of this same organisation came out to say the killings were taking place because of the laws which was made to stop the killings in the first place?

“I have not heard that the leaders of that group have been summoned the way those who do far less things would have been summoned. Nigeria is not the first country to experience natural disasters but this is not an excuse to take guns to destabilise other peace-loving people in their communities.

“While addressing the victims of the rampage of Fulani herdsmen, the minister of defence asked the victims what they wanted the herdsmen to do when the grazing routes for their cattle were being blocked and that minister is still in Buhari’s cabinet.

“I get impatient when I hear people say that Buhari failed to sympathise with victims in Benue and Taraba. Who needs presidential sympathy? Is it sympathy that will re-order their broken lives? We are talking about security of lives and property and bringing perpetrators to book.

“We expect the government to respond with massive punitive action when the fundamental security of a people is violated. We expect the president to immediately show up at the scene of these disasters and order his troops into action against these arrogant and blood thirsty people.http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/wole-soyinka-blast-buhari-declare.html

“When stung by the criticism that the president rather chose to attend a wedding in Kano instead of being present in Dapchi, presidential apologists said the wedding was a needed therapy for the trauma caused by the abduction of the schoolgirls in Dapchi. That statement is blasphemous.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/wole-soyinka-blast-buhari-declare.html
“There were so many formula that would have been adopted to ensure that the couple had their wedding without the accompanying exhibition of lavishness so soon after a national tragedy. The nation was in mourning and Buhari would have told the couple that he was not obliged to be there,” Soyinka said.

The StandPoint Church, together with the families of the Iyawe’s and Obaseki’s, soberly announce to the public the passing of Mrs. Omamen Iyawe, a profoundly treasured mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. Oma, the wife of Pastor Idahosa Iyawe, Assistant Pastor of The StandPoint Church.

She was called to glory on the 4th of March 2018. It was a glorious exit. As Oma, deeply and intensely lost in worship , lifted up her hands, she was called to a higher place of praise and worship.

Oma was a beautiful soul, an admirable shining example, and a source of inspiration to many people in and outside The StandPoint Church.
Oma will surely and terribly be missed by many. We cry and we grieve, but we also rejoice in this glorious translation because we know that Omamen Iyawe is not in our past, but alive in our future. “And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died, so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.

For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died”. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 (NLT)

Politics / Dapchi Schoolgirls: My Administration Is Better Than Jonathan’s, Jonathan's Gove by newslinkngr: 6:58am On Mar 15, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday compare his administration with that of former government, Jonathans government. He said thus my government is better than the immediate past government to the February 19 abduction of 110 students of Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State.

He said the former President, Goodluck Jonathan’s administration was slow in response to a similar abduction in Chibok, Borno State.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/dapchi-schoolgirls-this-is-why-my.html

According to Buhari, while his government swung into action immediately after the abduction, the last administration looked the other way when the Chibok girls were abducted in 2014.

This, the President said at a town hall meeting with traditional/community leaders and other stakeholders in Damaturu, Yobe State as part of activities lined up for his official visit to the state.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/dapchi-schoolgirls-this-is-why-my.html
Buhari said, “The Federal Government’s response to the unfortunate abduction of the school girls is a clear departure from the insensitivity of the past administration which looked the other way while the Chibok girls were taken away in 2014 and held in captivity for over three years.

“Due to our commitment, over 100 Chibok girls have been rescued and reunited with their families, sent back to school and empowered with requisite skills.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/dapchi-schoolgirls-this-is-why-my.html
“You may recall that recently, our negotiation efforts led to the release of abducted University of Maiduguri lecturers, some women police personnel, students and even an NYSC member.

“We, therefore, have no doubt that the Dapchi girls will be rescued or released. I can reassure parents, Nigerians and the International Community that we will do all that is within our power to make sure that the girls are brought back safely to their families.”

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has described the killing of innocent Nigerians by suspected Fulani herdsmen as senseless.

The Governor led him straight to the graveside of the Benue 73 who were massacred by herdsmen on New Year Day in Logo and Guma local government areas of the state located at Genabe village.

The former President said he was in the state to pay a condolence visit and to express his sorrow over the killings.

Obasanjo said, “It is sad beyond description and that is why I have taken it upon myself, having been to Maiduguri where we had a meeting of Zero Hunger Forum. If circumstances were normal, the Benue governor would have been with us.

“Hearing that aside the 73 buried here, more than 80 others have been killed in different parts of Benue is even more shocking to I believe it will be more shocking to all Nigerians who will be hearing that. There is no doubt that we haven’t got it right. We haven’t got it right because whatever is behind this, normally in any civilized society we must get to the root of it.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/obasanjo-wept-at-grave-side-of-73.html
“And until we get to the root of this we will be burying victims. We will be assuming what is not assumable, because we must know why is this happening and who we must put and end to it. And somebody must accept the responsibility to put an end to this. If it has to be a collective responsibility, then so be it. But there must be an end to it.”

“We cannot talk of a free country, a secure country, a country where we will want development to take place, where we will want to invite investors from outside and from inside and we are suffering this type of senselessness.

“I do hope that there would be an end to this. Gorvernor, please accept my condolence and do not give up trying to work with men and women that have the interest of this state and the interest of Nigeria at heart to find a permanent solution.

“This to me goes beyond what is on the surface. And we need to find out what is at the bottom of it. And that is the responsibilities of leaders and of course, they must leave no stone unturned to find what the root cause of this and put a stop to it.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/obasanjo-wept-at-grave-side-of-73.html
“We must know why it is happening and we must put an end to it, someone must take responsibility to put an end to it. We cannot talk of a free, secure country where we will want development to take place and investors to come to be suffering this type of senselessness.
http://www.newslinknaija.com/2018/03/obasanjo-wept-at-grave-side-of-73.html
“Nothing can be worse than what we have seen here; graveside of innocent people who should not have died that have died. The living still have hope, but those who have died are gone forever. Those who lost their loved ones, what do we say to them? Since I have taken time to come here, I will try to see anything that is worth seeing but finding solution is paramount,” Obasanjo said.

If anyone tell you the reason Buhari is not working is because he inherited corruption, tell them great leaders don't blame people and events for their failures. They simply accept responsibility and move on. Ask them, what has Buhari done
after all the fake promise of fixing power in 6wks, reducing pump price to #45 naira, making N1 equal to a $ 1, stopping Boko Haram etc. It's a shame.

“The Igbos do not deserve any appointment, having rigged themselves out of contention in the present administration”, Sagay said.

Describing the Igbos as die-hard loyalists of former President, Goodluck Jonathan, he pointed out that the Igbos who occupied 50 percent of Federal positions in the country under the Jonathan administration, resorted to rigging for the PDP in the last general elections.

Despite his failed attempt at seceding from the country, Ojukwu later contested for presidency but failed.

However, Uchechi, in an interview with BBC Igbo, said the people of the South East deserved more than they were getting from the country.
