A Lagos High Court, Igbosere, on Wednesday sentenced an armed robber, Onyekachi Abazu, to death by hanging for stealing the sum of N9000 and a BMW car from his victim, one Obiom Obiekwe, at gun point.

He committed the offence with others at large on June 13, 2007 at Gowon Estate, Ipaja‎.

Abazu was arraigned by the Lagos State Government on January 9, 2008, before Justice ‎Morenike Obadina on two- count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery under Sections 403 (A) and 402(2)(A) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos, 2003.

Justice Obadina said, while delivering her judgement, that the prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

She found the defendant guilty as charged and thereby sentenced him to death by hanging as prescribed by the law under which he was charged. The said sentence will be carried out on the 31st of October, 2014.

I'm currently in Milan Italy for a training(job related). All the while I had been getting along with all my colleagues from other countries around the world.

On wednesday, I got called out while in the middle of a group work presentation.
The lady 'politely' announced to the whole class I had to be excused for a few minutes for 'ebola awareness'.

By the time I came back to class 20minutes later....i had no friend again.

I later complained to the training organisers and the lady came back next day to explain to the class, it was nothing serious, just a little. Chit chat required with all 'ebola countries' participants, but for wier, the harm had already been done.....everybody avoided me, except the Angola and Ghana participants.

The Ebola stigma for Nigeria, is still very much out there.

He claims to have disclosed the potential of his herbal cures to the President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma, whose country is ravaged by the disease and who was recently the recipient of a $500,000 donation from the idiosyncratic Gambian dictator.
According to WHO, the disease in Sierra Leone “continues to deteriorate” blaming the sharp increase in the number of new cases in the capital city of Freetown.
The international community must be worried, especially at a time when the outbreak of the Ebola virus seems to be out of control in the three countries most affected i.e. Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.
Yaya Jammeh’s mental state has always been a subject of discussion behind closed doors. With this preposterous announcement, it is probably time for the mental and psychological state of the Gambian dictator to be questioned openly.
Meanwhile, every effort must be made to ensure that Jammeh does not interfere in any way with the international effort led by the United States and the Center for Communicable Disease (CDC), an effort characterized by the American president as the “largest international response in the history of the CDC.”
