Ibime: From Napoli through Benfica through Barcelona to Bayern, your man was a nonentity. Congratulations to him for few assists in group stage 5-0 win against Genk, but unfortunately he won't be remembered as being important to our UCL win. These are the facts. Only JT red card or Malouda substitute appearance prevented him being the worst player on the pitch in the key games.
A nonentity that bodied your Lampard throughout his stay in Chelsea.
A nonentity that took freekick role from him.
A nonentity that won Chelsea best player that season.
A nonentity that had higher total rating than Lampard that season.
A nonentity that had 32 G/A that season without penalties, more than Lampard.
A nonentity that made Lampard so useless that all his stats that season were penalty-dependent.
Even Lampard as a Chelsea coach has lost more games to Mata.
Mata >>>> Lampard throughout his[Mata] stay at Chelsea.
Ibime: Sorry, we won't use Genk group stage match to rate contribution to our UCL win. Below are the matches that won the UCL and Mata was useless. Go and choke on it.
Firstly, you are not suppose to post selective stats because it's a thing of teenagers to post stats, according to you.
Secondly, we must count all the games we played because without Genk, we wouldn't have gotten the points that helped boosted us.
The fact that you keep typing about Genk without even talking about Leverkusen and Valencia games further proved my earlier stance that they were tough games.
kushercain: Guy lock up jare, how can you claim Lampard was a fraud in our Ucl win. Seriously?? You messed up big time with that assertion, of the dome I can recall Lampard corner assist for Terry header + his penalty against Napoli, his assist to Ramirez against barca at the stroke of halftime which gave us small hope cos we were dead and buried before that. Mata's only highlight would be the corner in the final. overall Mata might have had a better season than Frank, but you can't come here and tell us he was our most important midfielder IN THE UCL. That agenda will not fly sir. Kolework
Make we hear word abeg! You counted his corner assist against Napoli, but gave no fvck about Mata's corner assist that saved our asss in the finals.
And which penalty abeg? Lol, Did Lampard even score upto 2 open play goals in that tournament? Did he even score one?
Lampard had 6 G/A [With penalties] Mata had 5 G/A [Without any penalty]
There are levels to performances.
The most important midfielder indeed. Someone that can't even stand Ramires's performance that season.
Exonerate1: This wasn't needed. The argument was about Mata's importance in our UCL win (especially in the big games)
Barcelona and Bayern were the biggest games we played, big games aren't sometimes equivalent to tough games. Maybe we'll use just 3 matches out of 13 games to cancel Mata and then hype an overrated Lampard of 2012.
Maybe we'll count off all the other tough games we played just because Mata performed.
If it was easy going for him, he would have posted total UCL 12 rating and stats between them, but he had to chicken out because the stat and rating didn't favor him, all for him to selectively post Bayern and Barcelona games to prove a point. Same point he said ancestors don't use while arguing football, but teenagers.
Mata had 5 G/A in that tournament, no Chelsea midfielder had more without penalties. If lying down and rolling on the floor in box 18 against Barcelona is what you'all call impact, then I'm sorry as I won't be buying that.
Ibime: Then you are very myopic and talking absolute nonsense of kpoli grade
Mikel, Lampard, Meireles worked their socks off while Mata couldn't cope and was being dragged off for Kalou early in games.
Vs Barcelona first leg, Lampard robbed Messi on a dribble in midfield and played a visionary ball to Ramires on the left wing to cross for Drogba. This is what made the goal, a combination of hustle and vision. Men remember these details while children just reel off nonsense stats vs Genk from Wikipedia. Watch it.
2nd leg, he did not just assist Ramires cos someone gave him ball, he robbed Xavi on a dribble to play in Ramires. That's the combination of work and vision these guys were putting in while Mata was causing dangerous overloads and weakness on his side and was a nonentity both attacking and defensive wise.
Both those goals which took us through vs Barca were made by Lampards hustle and vision.
Lampard missed the whole group stage cos he was fighting with AVB, otherwise you won't be bringing Matas inconsequential stats racked up against Genk here
Just keep quiet about Mata in that UCL run. He was a nonentity, and you are just exposing either your age or cluelessness by continuing to push his importance. Someone we celebrated when Kalou was being readied to replace him cos he couldn't cope.
Shiit upon shiit! Nothing new, just rinsing and repeating.
Out of all UCL games, this is the best rubbish you could bring, Lampard dispossessing Messi? What an achievement!
Mata statistically bodied Lampard in the UCL that season, in the Epl, Fa Cup and won the best player of the season.
Feel free to brag about being 75 years, the fact remains that Mata your nightmare bodied Lampard in all competitions that season. It's a fact your hate for Mata can't change.
And for your info, Ramirez and Drogba's attacking prowess helped qualified us against Barcelona, not Lampard. Mikel, Ramirez and Mata were all better midfielders than that fraud you call Lampard. Him and Terry were just overrated that season due to past glories. Bye!!!
raumdeuter: What is the importance of the Leverkusen game you lost? Will it stop you from qualifying?. You lost yet topped the group
Leverkusen loss had us in trouble into the last game which was against Valencia.
We lost in the extra time and had only an option which was to win Valencia to qualify. The game was very important to ease the stress and tension for us but we lost it, which made us hope on winning that last game.
If you watched that game, you go know say Benfica's game na beans.
Ibime: Good. Since you know that it was bus parking from start to finish, tell me what Mata has to contribute to that?
I'm not here to argue about Matas the player. His career speaks for itself, but you will not come and tell us nonsense about who was important in our UCL victory. We were parking bus, and Mara couldn't cope, nor did he have the legs or speed to make any attacking impact from a deep position. Even the passes to Ramires for both goals we scored on counterattack vs Barca came from Lampard. Of what use is a Mata in a team that kept 20% possession?
Simple fact, he was useless in that UCL campaign. Go and celebrate his assists in Group stage against Genk elsewhere. We are here to talk about who was consequential in the UCL victory not who assisted in a 5-0 win vs Genk.
I said immediately after Benfica's game.
Immediately after that game, all Chelsea midfielders became very useless in their primary duties and resorted to defending.
Mata had an assist in the finals. Lampard got one against Barca Ramirez got a goal and an asist against Barcelona.
Where was the rest midfielders?
Aside Ramirez, the rest aforementioned midfielders were even defensively useless.
Remove penalties and you'll see that Lampard was the most useless midfielder in that tournament. 3 goals, 3 assists, 2 penalties, if not 3 sef. How well did he defend?
I might pick Ramirez over Mata in that tournament, aside him, no other midfielder comes close.
Ibime: We were dead and buried in UCL after Napoli first leg which is when AVB got the sack.
Anything else you want to say is for children and Wikipedia revisionists
We grown men know that when we talk about that UCL campaign, we are talking from Napoli 2nd leg when RDM came in onward. We don't even need to count Benfica. Napoli 2nd leg, both legs against Barca and Bayern is what counts and Mata was a liability throughout. You have to have been a MAN to observe that, not a child.
Mad talk. Meireles was more important than Mata before we even come to Ramires, Mikel and Lampard. Bodied ke, with half his goal contribution coming in 5-0 win over Genk in group stage and being a liability when it was time to face men.
I repeat. The reason you have to have been a man to speak with any authority about 2012 is because it was a bus parking exercise throughout and children will not appreciate that every second of those matches carry tactical and defensive responsibility which Mata wasn't meeting. Children only remember attacking highlights. Men take cognisance of everytime someone is beaten, overpowered or overloaded on their wing, couldn't press quick enough etc which led to dangerous situations and Mata was guilty throughout which is why RDM had to haul him off early for Kalou who could cope better.
I watched that very tournament from the scratch and there's nothing you can gist me about.
Absolutely nothing.
Immediately after Benfica, Chelsea parked the bus till the last minute of that tournament.
No creativity, no good football, nothing nothing.
Just gbao voom kpuaa all through. Because Mata wasn't your typical Chelsea kind of player who's too physical shouldn't give you a reason to count him off. Stats had it that without penalties, no midfielder contributed more than him.
Group games were very tough, very very tough. From Valencia to Leverkusen. I watched them all, no dey count those games off ffs.
Only Barcelona games were tougher and more tasking which Chelsea won by kpoom kpoom kpoom konja way!
Even that Napoli's second leg came as unexpected, nobody alive believed we'll come out of that game.
What and how many attacking impact did the rest midfielders contribute after the Napoli's game. Aside the careless assist Lampard gave Ramirez, what did they do against Barcelona and Bayern? Lying flat in box 18 to defend?
Smh! Na Mou dey cause all these, any midfielder wey no dey play like Sissoko Na flop for una eyes. Stat no even matter for una.
Ibime: Nobody is talking about best midfielder that season. We are talking about who was important to our UCL victory and Wikipedia teenagers had the gall to mention Mata's name.
If you want to talk about Matas season specifically, fine. Just remember we finished 6th that year. That's what happens when you pad stats against small teams you would have defeated anyway but disappear when big boys are playing. That's why he was shunted off to Manure and became a perennial substitute. A man in the body of a 12 year old boy who only thrives when the going is easy and becomes a liability when the games are tough.
This is actually coming from your personal hate for Mata which I understand because it's not easy to withstand seeing a player you hate win best player for a team you support.
Mata got the stat in that tournament.
Okay fine, you ain't a fan of stat but other contributions which is okay, that one no do you.
Then you resorted into saying we should judge our UCL victory from Napoli's second leg? Like, wtf! We should count off 7 games just to suit you?
How tough was our QF games against Benfica that we should count off our group's games before judging players? Was is tougher than the game Leverkusen won Chelsea with a late strike?
How many games did we even win in the group for you to think it was easy for Chelsea then?
Mata is good, he bodied all our midfielders in that Ucl. Whatever happened or still happening with him and ManU isn't my business.
Ibime: Wikipedia talk for those who were teenagers then.
Our UCL campaign started from Napoli 2nd leg after we were dead and buried in the first leg, and Mata was useless from that point on when the real men showed themselves.
Simple question, you can't answer.
Name midfielders that performed better than Mata in that tournament with proof, you can't answer.
All of a sudden, Wikipedia and stat links Na for teenagers because it brings fact, but if it's about bringing links to backup BTC, Eth and BLM arguments up, you'll bring them, but because this one is chocking you, you can't provide proof and links to back up your point which came as a result of your hate for Mata.
Mata produced 32 G/A in 11/12, more than any Chelsea midfielder, if not player. Provided 5 G/A in 12 appearances more than any Chelsea's midfielder[without penalty] in that UCL.
He was our best player of the season, provided an asist in the finals.
Hate it or not, he was our best midfielder that season.
If you were too young or not a Chelsea fan, let those who watched tell you who was consequential. Of all 11 players, he was the biggest passenger whose wing was always leaking. Taking a corner in the final doesn't change that. Even Bosingwa and Meireles will hold their head high compared to Mata in that competition, and in games where Kalou came on for him, we saw instant improvement.
Vs Napoli 4-1, he was benched as Drogba and Lampard each got a goal and assist
Vs Benfica 1-0, he did nothing as Kalou scored. 2nd leg 2-1, he did nothing and was substituted for Meireles who scored
Vs Barcelona first leg, his wing was leaking all game and was dragged off for Kalou who shored up his wing. Vs Barcelona 2-2, his wing was leaking and was dragged off early after 50 something minutes for Kalou who secured his wing.
Vs Bayern his wing was leaking all game and his only contribution was swinging in an average corner and Drogba did all the work with a bullet header.
Leave the story for those who watched every minute as fans and as grown men. Mata was our most useless starting player in the UCL run from Napoli 2nd leg onward. Bosingwa, Meireles and Kalou contributed more than him, not to talk of Cech, Drogba, Lampard, Ramires and Mikel who were the main protagonists. If it's bullying small teams in Group stage or league, we know Mata for that, but when playing tough games against strong men with backs are to the wall, Mata was the weak link.
Any little thing, y'all will start yapping about folk's age as at when some matches were played, like it's some sort of Olympic debate of ancestral prowess.
I watched the game and that's why I'm authoritatively asking you a simple, straightforward and precise question.
Name 3 Chelsea midfielders that statistically bodied our 2012 best player MATA without penalties in that UCL tournament.
CapitalCee: Lol. Mourinho and Pep are leagues and by far have greater managerial careers than Klopp. Klopp won just 5 major trophies Mourinho won 20 plus small small ones wey i no wan count.
You are right.
Even fact has it that Klopp is beneath Emery in terms of achievements.
raumdeuter: Klopp is better than you are giving him credit for.
Allegri, Emery even the court jester Cuntay cannot be compared to Klopp abeg. Klopp has played 3 CL finals, Cuntay has not even played a semi in his career despite coaching Chelsea Juventus and Inter Milan
Step by step, how's Klopp better than Emery?
When we are done with that, we'll move to Allegri, then Conte.
How's he better than Emery, considering their achievements and how many years they've managed.
Amoto94: Klopp teams usually decline in a manner unexpected them. Guardiola's influence is evident in Spain and Germany's world cup wins. Where Klopp edge it is his friendly relationship with players as for technical and tactical improvements Pep edges him. I have read books detailing their careers so far and I have watch them at their peak (Pep's peak was at Barcelona and Klopp's peak was at Dortmund forget the UCL and EPL) so my decision is based on that
You even had to give Klopp accolades in some areas against Pep.
Pep and Klopp no be mate for anything.
Klopp will have to boss the likes of Ancelotti, Emery, Zidane, Allegri, Heynckes, Enrique and Conte before being compared to the likes of Mou and Pep.
In terms of Achievements, he's nowhere near any of the the aforementioned managers.
A coach who has managed for 2 decades with less than 10 trophies, less than 5 major trophies.
