US backed the secession of Kosovo from Serbia right? So what wrong with Russia and South Ossetia

The 2 situation are similar

Super power Case 1 US Case 2 Russia

A State Case 1 Georgia Case 2 Serbia

Secessionist Case 1 South Ossetia Case 2 Kosovo

What is good for case 1 should be good for case 2

Moscow has stated emphatically that Russia has no imperialistic plans. They just want peace in countries bordering them.

Russia is a peaceful nation compared to America that has invaded or attempted to invade nearly all her neighbors and beyond! From Cuba to Nicaragua to Panama to Grenada to Honduras to El Salvador, the list is too long!

For a more complete list of the misguided invasions (or attempted invasions) of other sovereign nations as a result of the toddler-driven foreign policy of the United States, see: http://academic.evergreen.edu/g/grossmaz/interventions.html

You're begining to sound like a neocon! One of their main characteristics is that they seek world domination AND THINK every other person/leader thinks like them. How pathetic! They suspect any body that does not look like them or behave like them.

*Iran says "we're not seeking nuclear weapons". A neocon says "it's a lie" because a neocon believes everybody has the same stupid thoughts they have.
*Russia says she does not seek an empire. A neocon says "it's a lie".
*Saddam said "we have no weapons of mass destruction". What does a neocon say?

As regards the list you put up there, you've exhibited one other characteristic of the typical neocon: an inability to tell the difference between the Soviet Union and Russia. To all neocons the Soviet Union still exists and Russia is a communist state! The neocon's love of war has made him reluctant to believe that the Cold War has long been over. No neocon wants peace or believes there should be peace because peace will spell doom for their industry of death.

Furthermore, when counting invasions within the scope of this discussion, only peace time invasions count. Only a true balloon head will assert that the US invaded France because she landed soldiers in Normandy, France!

Hence, the Soviet Union (not Russia - neocons know thy geopolitics!) invaded Manchuria (China) to kick out the Japanese, just like the Americans invaded France to kick out the Germans. And I did not put France on my list of countries invaded by the US; it makes no sense to do that.

In conclusion, the Soviet Union has never invaded Japan. Stop writing gibberish!

the soviet union was a union based on Russian dictatorship, the wars against japan, finland, and china were fought under the name of Russia, Russian troops were involved in the invasion of hungary or even the supression of the czechoslovakian reform movement

russia and japan have fought over territory, u might want to read up on something called the russo-japanese wars. why don't i add the russo-turkish war. how do u explain the russia occupation of a chinese province called ili in the nineteenth century. your bias is clouding you again.

Hey everybody is here. amazing. davidylan, how've you been? Tayo-D it's been a while. I tried to hook up with you on facebook but my search was futile.

Seun actually banned me from Nairaland, so I decided to ban myself too and journeyed off to more democratic cyberspace. You can look me up on facebook. I'm Nejeeb Bello. Couldn't do much about the Home Video rights I was meant to secure due to the shambolic nature of the industry at that time but their cleaning up their act now and things are bound to get better. Hope you're doing well.

i have no more political comments.

What do you mean you don't support Russia on this? Has RichyBlack the militant gone soft ? . . . . . lol. . .

It was Georgia who made the first move in this chess game. The day they invaded South Osettia, I told my friend that they have finished themselves because Russia will retaliate. What, did they think Russia was going to stand by and let that happen? Russia don't play that. The West have just proved that they do not back their allies. They were the ones who told Georgia to invade South Ossetia because Georgia cannot take such a decision independently. Yet when qwatar start, they turned their back on Georgia. 80% of Europe's gas comes from Russia, that is why they didn't back Georgia - because they don't want to freeze this winter. lol.

The people of South Ossetia all own Russian passports, therefore Russia did not break any law by moving in. They've wanted to leave Georgia for a long time but Georgia would not let them go. Now they are seeing that Russsian passport is more profitable than Shengen passport. All of them are celebrating in the streets today - and that is all that matters, not all this nonsense diplomatic arguments about who owns what.

This is a test case for other places like Azerbaijan and Ukraine who have adopted pro-Western and anti-Russian stances. Will the West really back them against Russia or will they chicken out at the last minute as they did with Georgia? This could even also be a test case for seperatist movements in Africa, such as Biafra. . . . .

This is relevant right now.
