Good thread. I've nailed pas7ku, Astra2b, w4/w6, sirius/w3, nss7 but I've never laid my hands on big dish but I was so confident that I told somebody I could install Nilesat. I went to test the 3.2m dish and lnb. I was only able to get w4. I even tried in vain to nail nss7, sirius. Pls house, help me with the lnb skew, and any tip.

Hi twinstaye i have been trying to have your contact , but thank God cause i am new to this site pls is it possible for me to track nilesat in ivory coast and if possible what types Ku band LNB to be use.
And once again what types c-band lnb is very powerful apart from strong the one we have in the satellite market for now which is very weak to receive weak signals on W2a 10 degree east;

@George-D,any
hope of
nailing nile sat or Badr 4 on 2.4 m mesh dish ?
Re: All About Nilesat Installations by GeorgeD1(m): 1:32pm On Apr 05, 2010
ikeduru,
forget about mesh for nilesat. your best bet is to use solid dish-either pan or fibre. 2.4m and above.
Re: All About Nilesat Installations by Kcbenjamin(m): 1:49pm On Apr 05, 2010

Re: All About Nilesat Installations by GeorgeD1(m): 2:25pm On Apr 05, 2010
kcbenjamin,

Re: All About Nilesat Installations by Kcbenjamin(m): 4:15pm On Apr 05, 2010
@George_D, since Atlantic Bird 3 is in 5 degree west is there a possibility that by lifting your dish a little bit higher will make the Nilesat tp to turn green on what really does the trick ?
Re: All About Nilesat Installations by GeorgeD1(m): 4:49pm On Apr 05, 2010
kcben,
it's very possible to nail ab3 with the right frequency. to nail multiple birds you need a motorized dish not just lifting with the hands.
Re: All About Nilesat Installations by Kcbenjamin(m): 8:31pm On Apr 05, 2010
@ George, you're not getting me right. All i want to know is if AB 3 and nilesat are in the same vertical position. That is after trackin AB 3 can you reduce your dish by two degree to get nilesat or shift or what else.
Re: All About Nilesat Installations by Nobody: 9:37pm On Apr 05, 2010
Some days ago I gave a detailed description on how to go about installing Nilesat, this is a first hand information and not what i study from someone else doing, but some minutes after that post has been made, it disappeared off the this thread, and i dont think I can go through that stress of putting that up again for the time being, maybe later I will reconsider doing that.
Re: All About Nilesat Installations by GeorgeD1(m): 10:00am On Apr 06, 2010
@Kcbenjamin,
I got you right and like I explained above, yes, you can get ab3 with the right frequency using your nilesat dish. Only you must be ready to motorize it.
Re: All About Nilesat Installations by Kcbenjamin(m): 4:57pm On Apr 06, 2010
@ George i am only asking of the best point of reference to track nilesat knowing fully well that nss 7 and nilesat are not in the same vertical point.
Re: All About Nilesat Installations by Kcbenjamin(m): 5:02pm On Apr 06, 2010
Read of guy in another fta forum who tracked nilesat under five minutes using atlantic bird 2 which @ 8 degree west before moving to 7 degree west to get nilesat.
Re: All About Nilesat Installations by GeorgeD1(m): 8:46am On Apr 07, 2010
kcbenjamin,
you can use any point of reference when it come to nilesat tracking. i have used sirius 4 before to track. the most important thing is to be sure your lnb and dish are in perfect condition and that signal is coming in as required.

also whatever point you start from, you must know its position relative to nilesat. if you start from above like sirius 4, etc then you know you must bring the dish down and to your left when tracking nilesat. if you start from below like nss7 then you know you must raise the dish up and to your right to track nilesat. it all comes from knowing your clarke belt and a little experience too.

@ all the esteemed member of this great forum, who either has installed nilesat or witnessed it, would by now drop their experience as a way of makin this thread a library for any who wish to be informed. Those little details you think we already know might be the missing link towards a successful installation. Please i am calling on all great minds to please drop what ever theory or practical there is to it. Images and diagrams will still be an added advantage. I am but a humble student who speaks for those whose voice could not be heard.

He that cries out loud, his voice shall surely be heard.

Though, i have an already installed nilesat dish, i will be carrying out a maintenance activity on it this sunday, I will come later to furnish this thread what it needs in being detailed enough so as to be able to be of great benefits for everyone that comes visiting

@twinskenny,
Yes, u can. but to get maximum channels. u'll need at least 4m - 4.4m fibre dish.
Do you live at ibafo? If yes, let hook up one of these day, holla me on 08038032393.
Enjoy
