Well, why the outcry here is because the offender here is a man. Had it been that it was the man that committed the offence, women and men on nairaland here will support for the guy to be killed. Yes, she killed, we all are pleading that since the death was something known to her, they should keep her in jail and the creator God Almighty will reward her accordingly. She acted maybe out of jealousy, let God judge her if what she did is right. If she repents, God will forgive her.

Our acceptance or non acceptance of the judgement given, in my opinion is not what is germane, i think what we should be concerned with is if she is truly guilty as charged. If she is not: which i doubt, considering d caliber of personality on the bench - though human error can not be completely ignored, then i pity her because jugement have been given and let her God fight for her because very concrete evidences must have been presented in all the court against her. Afterall the judges and even the prosecuting officers have no personal scores to settle with her. And if she is truly guilty; anybody pleading for leniency is not doing humanity anygood because any person(s) who can deprive another his/her life intentionally does not fit/deserve to continue to live on d surface of this earth. As for capital purnishment given 4 some crimes i think it is the best because even with such law still intact people still indulge in them intentionaly without thinking it over, what will now happen when such laws and penalties are abolished? I guess this earth or even the world (other planets inclusive) would not be save 4 the good people 2 live in. What we should stand up and speak out against is the use of turture in extracting statement from suspect because with it's use, anybody can give false confession against one,s self just 2 have relief from such turture. I REST MY CASE.Our acceptance or non acceptance of the judgement given, in my opinion is not what is germane, i think what we should be concerned with is if she is truly guilty as charged. Convicted Actress Rabi Ismail Escapes From Prison

January 2nd, 2012 by Editor

On the run - Rabi Ismail

Following several unconfirmed reports by different news outlets, we can now confirm that convicted actress Rabi Ismail is indeed on the run, having escaped from Hadejia prison in Jigawa State.

The popular actress mostly known for Hausa roles in the Kano film industry known as Kannywood (Hausa-language version of Nollywood), as reported earlier in July 2011 was sentenced to death by the Court of Appeal for killing a male friend.

Reports say Ismail was ‘found missing’  days before she was to be executed, and that the State Prison Service has issued a search order for her capture.

‘The escapee was accused of murder and a high court in Kano ruled that she was guilty and sentenced her accordingly, six people including three female wardens have been arrested and are being investigated for the mysterious disappearance of the convict’, the state’s comptroller of prisons disclosed.

The incident has sparked off an investigation, which has already consumed at least six prison officials.

‘I’m just getting to hear the news, it’s unfortunate, I hope she doesn’t complicate her matter’, President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Segun Arinze told NET in a telephone conversation.
Who has more info on this? Did they found her? Was she hanged?

sharap ur mouth ! Why do u guys always discriminate ? So u feel dat it is only men who commit murder and women are too "soft" to commit murder. If it was a man y'all will vote 4 death penlty but if was a woman, everybody will start bringing sentiments. See una face. Mtcheewww

Temper justice with mercy, actors beg govt
on JULY 8, 2011 · in NEWS

BY BENJAMIN NJOKU
Following the Supreme Court’s approval of Miss Rabi Ismail’s death sentence in Abuja, Nollywood stars have described the death penalty as ‘ barbaric and outdated” and therefore appealed to the government to temper justice with mercy.

Reacting to the judgment, Mr. Segun Arinze, the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria(AGN) said, “in this present age, death penalty should be the last option of punishment for anyone who is found guilty of committing a crime that merits death sentence”. He therefore appealed to the federal government to temper justice with mercy.

“ We have passed this age. I sincerely appeal to the government to temper justice with mercy. Rather than sentencing her to death by hanging, they can commute it to life imprisonment. If actually she is guilty of the offence she has been accused of, let her live with it throughout the rest of her life.” Arinze appealed.

Also reacting to the judgment, actress Kate Henshaw-Nuttal described it as “barbaric and unacceptable in this 21st century.” Expressing shock, she muted ,”it’s terrible and I don’t subscribe to it. It’s barbaric in this 21st century. We shouldn’t be asking government to temper mercy with justice. ”

Government should tamper justice with mercy. We are not in the medieval age.”
For AMP president, Paul Obazele who was dumbfounded upon hearing the news, death penalty should be unthinkable.
Rabi Ismaila, an actress based in Kano has been standing trial since 2002, after she allegedly administered sedative drugs on her boyfriend, Mr. Ibrahim Auwalu ailas Zazu. She was sentenced to death in 2005.

Ismail had gone to the Supreme Court, to challenge the judgment of the Court of Appeal Kano Division that convicted and sentenced her to death by hanging.
