I was in Warri a few days ago and I was dismayed at what I witnessed. I could not find a single reasonable project being executed by the State government. Worse still, all the roads that were constructed in time past have become every driver's nightmare. Name the road; is it Airport road? That one has huge potholes well positioned at strategic points. Or are we talking about Refinery road that has become a permanent construction site with every wrong feature you can think of existing on it. What about Okere - Ugborikoko, NNPC complex road, etc? Those who live in Warri can testify. The sheer size of the potholes makes one wonder if there is any form of government there because one would expect at least a temporary measure to be put in place if the rains will not allow for asphalt works.
What makes the issue even more mind buggling is the fact that Delta is home to some of the largest companies/ revenue generators in Nigeria. Name it; Shell, Chevron, Total, etc. These companies remit billions to the state in taxes. Ughelli and other oil producing areas are dotted with oil & gas wells and facilities of all sorts. This is not to mention the multitude of companies that service these giants. Billions of naira make their way though Delta's water, air and land spaces daily yet there is nothing to show for it in terms of basic infrastructure.

Ironically, a few meters to the NNPC quarters or the roundabout to the Shell gate, or even directly in front of NNPC staff club at Bendel Estate, there exist some of the most terrible potholes imaginable.

As I sat down to enjoy a bowl of pepper soup with a few friends on the evening of my arrival, I was drenched with tales of kidnaps, assassinations and daylight robberies happening daily in Warri. What began as a cool evening quickly turned into a sour night. There was every reason for me to conclude: There's neither a governor in Delta State nor any form of government in Warri!

Efisher, Uduaghan is easily one of the worst Governors in Nigeria. Many knew he had nothing to offer. This is why I personally protested against the actions of GEJ in acting as the de-facto campaign manager for the re-election efforts of Uduaghan when everyone knows that the man is a highly corrupt and misruling Governor who is simply not capable of doing anything good for Delta State.

Very sad but very true without an iota of exaggeration. Warri has become a pretty depressing city with nothing going for it but without attempting to hold brief for Uduaghan and the hopeless LG Chairmen around the city, i have to say the government seem to be at a loss as to how to treat the City. It no doubt deserves to be treated and catered for like a state capital, but the problem is; There's already one! With so much attention usually paid to the seat of govt, it is really no surprise that a governor who's got his priorities all wrong is paying little attention to the city.

If Warri were to be treated fairly, it would have easily become one of the best cities in Nigeria. It is currently one of the worst. They used to say "Warri no dey carry last" but in this case, Warri is dangerously wallowing in the last position due to the neglect it is suffering. This reminds me of Lucky's 8 year misrule in Edo state. Delta urgently needs an Oshiomhole to liberate it from the shackles of retrogession. Warri people what are u doing about this?

Uduaghan is the problem of Delta State. The painful aspect is, the guy is going to stick around for a while, 3 years no be moi-moi ooo.

I fervently prayed Great Ogboru got the mandate but, that ain't gonna happen either. Goodluck badluck for Deltans.

^^^ when you talk about delta state, the first city that comes to mind is WARRI - no apologies but that's just reality. BENDEL was made up of two provinces/districts - Benin then Warri but that evil genius of a man did his worst.

@ Franko, Warri is to Delta as Lagos is to Nigeria. We know there are lots of other places in Delta but if Warri is neglected, Delta is also neglected. It is that important.

@ efisher, u're very right, i've been in warri for about three weeks now and i must say it can easily be mistaken for the capital of the state with all the Multinational and international oil/non-oil companies here, however the town is so so dirty, insecure, bad roads everywhere with very deep potholes that in some instances cut across the width of the road, an example is the road that links effurun round about and PTI junction, also, Airport Road, it's very terrible

Either Uduaghan is on holiday or he focused all his attention on the development of the state capital at Asaba. Seems as if Ibori is a saint when compared to this Uduaghan guy. But come to think of it, Delta state with the huge allocation they get from the FG monthly and their IGR is supposed to be among the 3 most developed states in Nigeria in all aspect of development.

Don't even mention Asaba, it is worse off. Yes, i stay there. Nothing, absolutely nothing to write home about.
The only major road, Nnebisi road is simply impassable attimes, while all the adjoining roads like Jesus Saves, DLA are death traps.
Writing about this is nauseating, with all the money available to Uduaghan, all he does is mark one Birthday party for his family members
or gallivant round the world doing nothing.

It sickens me any time i'm in warri, the whole state is in disarray, is it udu or orhuwhorun or ugheli, or even agbor, bomadi, every where u go in the state you are faced with bad roads, insecurity at it's peak, fear of the unknown,etc. Frankly i dn't know if the governor derives pleasure 4rm seeing deltans suffer. It is really shameful, I live in Warri in the Udu axis. I want to say we are disconnected from Delta State, some elders from region met him of recent and he told them he has no business with udu people, they should go meet who they voted for forgetting some of his loyalist are living in that area. My brother when bad leaders rules, the people suffers but this would not last forever.

My brother, in a way I am glad you got to experience things first hand. We have had people come here and defend emmanuel for no reason.

Lets get things into pespective, Nothing is happening in Warri, not because uduaghan is focusing on anywhere else. Asaba is equally as bad, if not worse. The simple fact remains that Eweta is a failure. The man hasnt got a clue.

@Wesley80, my brother, you and I have fought on here several times about this uduaghan matter, really are you begining to see the light now? I dont accept that Warri is a difficult case. Any smart thinking governor with half a decent will to perform would know what to do with Warri, especailly with the sort of money he gets for the state monthly. Uduaghan is just steeped neck deep in roguery. There is nothing else that clouds that evil mind of his, than to defraud the state until we start eating ourselves. There is just no desire in the man to do good
