I've seen Things Fall Apart as the Arrows of God didnt spare this A Man of the People. Things may be No Longer at Ease if The Anthills of the Savannah should eat up the body of Achebe. Nonetheless, generations will know that There was A Countryman. RIP, Achebe...... *sad* |
manmustwac: Wrong analogy & its so obvious by yourwrite up that you fall in the category of Mister B. Am I not right? You're as totally wrong as your comment also is... |
MacDaddy01: Fail.ow really? That's an analogy, haven't you ever been to a Literary class? Your comments portrays you as an embittered saddist.... |
Mr A does not believe that dreams exist because he has never had one before (or perhaps because he has always forgotten them at waking up). But Mr B dream dreams (though occassionally and with no effects), so he believes that although dreams exist but they are not potent. While Mr C who usually has dreams that are effective believes in the existence of dreams and their potency. Doesn't the above illustration above apply to the atheists (Mr A), the agnostic (Mr B), and the believers (Mr C)? |
Congrats, sister! You are a pride to the country. But how do Nigeria take hold of these bests lest some so called super power grab them from us. And for those whose ears or skin are pinged for the name combination. I sku in Ondo and know what queer names they bear cos they are a multitribal people: Ondo is composed of all sorts of tribes, evn their Yoruba sounds out of place. Could you ever Take someone bears Ekpetuku Taiwo as a Yoruba? Those names are common there. Nonetheless it's no ethnic achievement, it's a national honour for us all. Hurray In Love And Honesty To Grow... |
Does that mean we've got a kind of HERMAPHRODITEOUS-ANDROGYNOUS ASEXUAL APE around here in Naija? Trust Abati himself, isn't he a man of the word (a journalist)? He'll coin a new word to modify and qualify Barr Kay. I love March, things go fummy. Naija no dey dull at all!!!!! |
The land is full of fictions, or is it really real? |
Mr Ogaze, my Drama lecturer is fond of saying: You laugh with the comic actor, not at him/her. You might as well be in their position. Stop this messy joke around here please, at least for the sake of the innocent children of the man. I should believe it's either a mistake or some repercussion. For I heard the man is an alumnus of UNILAG, LASU and UI. |
Great Nigerian Students! Please I need the help of you students and graduates of English. I'd like you to share the list of books that you have used or you are still using that benefit you. Thank you for doing so. |
Gboliwe: what is scotting?I meant 'hostel squatting' - living in a school hostel while you have no permission to do so. (10Q) |
Great Nigerian Students! I'm a student in a higher institution. I'm a fan of anyting that's got fun. 'It's fun to squat', I've usually heard peeps say,; and I'm about to make myself experience of the fun in squatting. I want to give squatting a chance come next session, but the school authority has always promised hell for the squatters (I've not seen them catch or deal with anyone yet, though). So, I want to know what squatting costs in your school and how you've got on with its fun (if ever it has any, or you've had any). Need its funny and otherwise part.... |
Ẹjẹ́ lọ fi ẹṣẹ ilé tọ ọ. Go by the way of African trado-medical healing. Or are there no herbalists in the UK. A Queen in a King's hospital, how logical? Better bring her over to UCH or LUTH here over in Naija. |
It's a great feat the boy has achieved and at such a tender age! The way Nigerian Children soar excellently high these days is just supra-natural. And such kids are almost always from private schools. The government should please make a better do for our public schools -I'm sure the boy woulnt have performed such a deed if he were a public school student. Stop killing the talents in these Kids.;(;( And for the jealous-minded, all-mouth-no-nothing guys here, are you even able to switch on a black-and-white tv set when you were at his age? Honour to whoever deserves it |
After putting the students (and I'm one of them) into 2 or more weeks of suspense, our great great school now releases the school fees for the 2012/2013 Academic Session. We've thought the fees were going to be unbearable, especially considering how the value-added Provost, Prof Idowu, works endlessly for the betterment of the school (you've got to come and take a look to really know what I'm talking about). Now, here is the list for the school fees - for both Fresh and Returning 'Arbicans' (that's what ACE students are called). It marvelled me when I read the portion of the Scriptures that narrates how Isaac blessed his sons before he died. This very part shows us that Isaac had foreseen his deathday which then prompted him to praying for his children before dying. I think Abraham did something near that too: he found a wife for Isaac before he died. And such similar issues occur and recur in the Bible. While growing up in the village, I used to hear such stories as well; when an old, dying parent would call their children and share a word of prayers with them because they knew they would soon die. Infact, some died just after they had finished the prayers. But nowadays, I don't think such thing still happens -- or it may be that I am only assuming it does not. Please have you witnessed or heard of such experience just of recent? Just curious to know... |

In that regard I can offer some help, even without any monetary compliments. But it will have to be through the Internet because I am still in school. I have always been interested in anything that has to do with my culture. You may contact me through this email: Nigeriakan@gmail.com |
I'd advise you to rather search for your choice book on http://m.gutenberg.org and then move to Google such a book whether it is available on http://manybooks.net . If it is, get it downloaded from Manybooks, this is because java ebooks from Gutenberg take a long time to load, whereas those of Manybooks load quite easily. ALSO: Download The Holy Bible, various versions in jar format at http://takerhozana.wapgem.com/ I'll as well like you to download THE FOOLISH DICTIONARY by Wurdz and THE DEVIL'S DICTIONARY by Bierce (both are on Manybooks). Get them and you will laugh at words. These dics have been everssince yet if you check up the definition of the word 'police' you'll see that it applies to some.... POLICE: the unpresent help in time of need (hahaha) |
Great Nigerians! I'm happy how this site, or should I say this section (LitWrit), arouses the reading passion in some people. http://www.umnet.com is got many books you may be looking for. http://mnybks.net (mobile) or http://www.manybooks.net (pc) is the sister to http://www.gutenberg.org (pc) or http://www.m.gutenberg.org which has the largest collection of books online, I think. Other than jar books, Gutenberg and Manybooks have numerous other ebook versions like: epub, mobi, kindle, etc.. |
CRY, THE BELOVED COUNTRY by Alan Paton. This novel is simply more than a book--- good grammar, fine arrangement, amazing storyline, etc. South Africa's Apartheid in its dramatic scope. I wish we had such a book that will also be of good influence on our country like CTBC did in the Apartheid SA. |
Hello all Nigerians. Please, I'm in dare need of an old book. The book is out of print though, but I need it for an urgent reason. You may send me an email to: Nigeriakan@gmail.com Thank you and God bless. |
classics? what makes them classics? It's sure you've never read any of them. How many of your foreign authored 'errovels' (error novels) beat this man's imaginative satire? Learn to appreciate any work of own. Won't this man have been a J. Swift, C. Dickens or Stevenson if he were an Englishman?... |
It's the day of fate, mee; The world is ending soon, mee. Tied down I've been for days with no hope, With deathophobia I've had to cope- I've seen the Alfa gone to Yildee in a white coat, And I know it's soon up to me, his he-goat. With his prayers, will he never be slow; For quickly the festive spirit should take its flow. Farewell to Amina, Bastira, Rukayat, and co they made an he-goat of me, those she-goats. I wish I had one here to console With her lovely mee going to my soul. It's too late, oh the Alfa come with a new knife brandishing That, sure, is meant for my slaughtering. Indeed all deaths are brutal, But compared with Augustine who died by a Boko Haram bomb, this sure is less brutal. And what Alfa starts on my neck with a Bismilahi, I'll be gone before he concludes in an Al Am dulilah. While you eat me in the almighty name of Allah, I wish you, however, Barka de Sarla |
