Politics / Re: Citizens Groan As Rice Hits N77,000 Per Bag by Nigeriakan: 10:13am On Feb 11 |
Tinubu is just plain wicked and heartless. A leader who cares would have opened borders months ago. Let rice and other foodstuffs be loaded into the country. |

What stops Tinubu from opening the country's borders for importing food such as rice, beans, etc. Open the borders for the next two years. Let plenty food come into the country. That resolves the hunger wahala. 1 Like |

Earthquakes: Yes, they won't send no cent back home to Nigeria. They will choose to abandon their building projects. They will choose to make their parents and siblings go wretched. They will choose to abandon their businesses back home. They will prefer to use the unofficial platforms which may eventually scam them of their dollars. That's what they will do. 1 Like |

seguno2: Shebí the other tribes with considerable numbers of slaves sold theirs for mansions and other luxuries, àbí? Yorùbá sold most of her people into slavery? Have you ever considered setting the stats straight? Yorùbá may be the Nigerian tribe with the highest number of Trans-Atlantic slaves, and to be sincere, we must not justify the wicked act of selling people into slavery. However, if you convert the numbers into percentages, would we still have the Yorùbá as the people who sold most of her children into slavery?! What's the estimated Yorùbá population as at then and what's the estimated number of Yorùbá slaves? And do same to the other tribes. Sure, the SW governments have been a disappointment, and their poor performance is part of the reasons why many Yorùbá citizens migrated (and are still migrating) overseas. But prior to the japa epidemic, the Yorùbá, especially the Òǹdó, Ògùn and Èkìtì, had loved to travel out of the country. Besides, the professionals such as doctors, nurses, and programmers that are in huge demands abroad, which people have majority of those experts? That gives you a clue to why most of the japa guys are Yorùbá. And that's a huge loss to the Yorùbá nation and Nigeria at large. [/quote] |

Nigeria policing system is the worse. Imagine a Yorùbá man serving as the CP in Akwa Ibom. CP in a state he may know next to nothing about. CP in a state he may have no relatives. CP in a state whose languages he may not speak or understand. Imagine if the CP of any state is an indigene who speaks a native language of the state, who has parents, siblings, cousins, wife and children living there. He will be more serious about the security of the state because he'd be afraid that his kith and kins may fall victim of criminals. Make police local. Post policemen and women to their villages or local government. Then see how crime will reduce. |

It's called mọ̀nímọ̀ní in the Òkè Ògùn area of Oyo State. That's a variety of Yorùbá known as Òǹkò. It's seasonal. It's usually got from igi ẹmi (shea butter trees) when the trees produce fruit for the year. |

Tolu181: It depends on whether your own Tolu is a full name or a short form of a longer name. 1. As a full name in its own right, Tólú is a merge of the verb 'tó' (to become) and the noun 'olú' (the head or a prominent person). Tólú in this sense is a prayer that means may you 'Become the Head/a Prominent Person' or 'Someone who will become the Head or a Prominent Person' 2. Tolu can also be a short form of several names such as a. Tolúlọpẹ̀ (Praise is God's) b. Tolúwani or Tolúwanimí (I am God's Own) c. Tolúlayọ̀ or Tolúlayọ̀mi (My Joy is Sourced from God). 'olú' In those names is a short form of 'Olúwa' (Lord or God) |

Politics / Re: What Boko Haram Leaders Told Me - Obasanjo by Nigeriakan: 8:48pm On Jun 17, 2023 |
No we can't blame Boko Haram for wanting a better life. BUT WE CAN BLAME THEM FOR KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE WHO WERE ALSO LOOKING FOR BETTER LIVES. Is the better life of Boko Haram in the hands of those innocent victims? WHY DIDN'T THEY CONFRONT THE ACTUAL PEOPLE THAT DENY THEM THEIR BETTER LIVES? No matter how you paint it, Boko Haram is not justifiable. Do not justify a terrorist group. |
Politics / Re: Stop Payment To MDA's Till Further Notice, Tinubu Orders CBN by Nigeriakan: 10:16am On Jun 17, 2023 |
lexy2014: What is special about it is that it's the first time a Nigerian President detects salary padding in a major MDA in less than a month after assuming office. That this happens quite quickly should give you a signal that PBAT must have had loyalists giving him intelligence about all MDAs. Governors would have set up a committee to investigate the padding, and before you know it, nothing fruitful comes out of it eventually. This is taking a quick action. It's in no way the same as freezing a state government accounts. FYI, I won't give you a further response. So no need quoting me any longer. I hope you see this in no sentimental view 6 Likes 2 Shares |

lexy2014: How does stopping contracts relate to stopping salary payments due to salary padding? You think everyone on Nairaland think with emotional blackmail? Would you have preferred salary padding to go on unchecked? No be everything you go dey condemn. Criticisms are good. But constructive ones are better 4 Likes 1 Share |
