Members of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN and League of Imams of Lagos West Senatorial District stormed the senatorial office of Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Lagos West) to throw their weight behind his aspiration for re-election based on his effective representation and empowerment of constituents.


Reverend Dele Ashaju, chairman of Alimosho CAN, speaking on behalf of 28 other chairmen of CAN of the district stated that it was indeed Senator Adeola’s tenure that first opened their eyes to the benefits derivable from praying for and supporting their representatives stressing that his empowerment programmes for constituents and goodwill gestures during festive periods are of good report for him relative to other politicians.

“I must confess that it was our Senator who first opened our eyes to the fact that elected office holders are meant to report back to their constituents with dividends of democracy instead of pretending” the CAN Chairman said.

While thanking the Senator for the donation of a Toyota bus, Rev. Ashaju stated that it was the Senator that was instrumental to the cordial and close relations between Christian and Muslim groups in Lagos West adding that he should continue to effectively represent the district.

Also speaking on behalf of the League of Imams in Lagos West, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulaziz, the Chairman of the League of Imams in Ikeja commended the Senator for the donation of a Toyota bus for the group in his first year in office stressing that the bus is a testimony for his identification with the Muslim clergy in the state.

“We are happy with your representation. If the people are happy with you then God is happy with you and we will continue to pray and support you for identifying with us in our areas of need” he stated.

Senator Adeola who was elated at the outpouring of love and support said he will always do his best in spite of the vastness of the senatorial district as the largest in the country adding that he always publicize empowerments and other activities so that people will not have the impression that he is not doing anything in the vast district.

He urged them to know that in spite of the challenges facing the nation only APC meant well for them and their future generations with its programmes stressing that voting for PDP is to return the nation to the path where some Nigerians will just loot the resources of the nation in such a magnitude with deleterious effects on future generations of Nigeria.

The Ogun State Police Command said it shot dead a member of a robbery gang on Wednesday on the Sagamu-Benin Expressway. The command said the gang blocked a section of the expressway in the Ogbere area and attempted to rob a luxury bus belonging to Young Shall Grow Motors.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said a distress call was made to the police at the Ogbere division.
“This prompted the Divisional Police Officer, John Okon, to lead the anti-robbery squad in the division to the scene, where they engaged the bandits in a gun duel.

“At the end of the encounter, one of the suspects was shot dead, while others fled,” he said.

Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, added that items recovered from the gang were a locally-made gun, a toy pistol and some charms

He said the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, expressed satisfaction over the performance of his men and ordered a manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang.
“The CP assures members of the public that their security is guaranteed all the time,” Abimbola said.

Tragedy struck in Bauchi on Sunday when a speeding truck driver reportedly crushed a motorcyclist and his daughter to death while the deceased’s wife was critically injured at Bakin Kura Junction in the Bauchi metropolis.
An eyewitness, who refused to mention her name, blamed the truck driver for speeding without considering the motorcyclist who was riding ahead of him.

She said,
“The driver of the truck was speeding dangerously when he was approaching the junction and instead of slowing down for the motorcyclist, who was carrying his wife and a child, to pass, he rammed into them and in the process, hit another man riding a motorcycle. The second motorcyclist was lucky as he only sustained injuries.

“The first motorcyclist man died on the spot along with his baby daughter while his wife was seriously injured. The scene of the crash was horrible, because the man’s skull was shattered on the main road with his brain spilled out.”

The Head of Operations, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Paul Gua, confirmed the incident, a truck with registration number 810503 ADJ and two motorcycles were involved.

A middle aged man has died after he slumped at Orile Iganmu bus stop in Lagos Earlier Today. According to an Eyewitness Yinus Olayiwola, the deceased was a passerby who suddenly slumped and died after he took ill in the early hours of Tuesday.

He added that the man was seen shivering on the spot at about 6:30 a.m.

The deceased’s situation was worsened by an early morning drizzle, he said.

“It seems the deceased was asthmatic. Though, the early drizzle worsened his condition, his life may have been saved if he got prompt medical assistance,” he said.

Another resident, Bamidele Adejoke, said that the deceased was not a mad man but normal passerby and urged individuals to take their health seriously to avert sudden death of that nature.
