Yeah, it's quite difficult for me. I hear like only 70% whenever a Briton speaks & I have to ask them to repeat what they said. funniest part is that they hear me perfectly.
I find the American accent relatively easier & I'm already used to it.
I would be studying in England in few months time & I can't afford to pass off as being slow. I've been downloading a lot of British films & I have been chatting with some Britons on Skype that i met via Facebook. All to ensure my auditory & otic gets accustomed to the accent.
is there anything to boost this process? or probably a better method? some sorta enzyme to catalyse the process? ..

I feel your pain, I have 4 British roomies and most of the time we talk I ask them to repeat, the British accent is quite difficult to understand especially to Nigerians who grew up used to the American accents via hollywood, Scottish accent is even worse and Aussie too (deep Aussie accent)

I think what you should do is learn the way the British folks pronounce words, my roomies can say a word like 4 times and it sound like 4 different things, once u know how they pronounce words the British way you'll find it better to understand them, watching their movies wont help...much

Getting a job that can pay your school fees might require all of your time or lots of it, then you might not have much time for classes, school fees here nobi small tin oo, but I heard that nurses and doctors make good money in OZ, that was all I heard, didn't ask further questions.

Well I don't know what MBA is, I'm 'freshman' which means I haven't even started year 1 yet, I'm doing what is called 'Foundation' as required for all international students, expect you're from an English(maybe also non English) speaking Western countries, it last for a year.

While still in Foundation we are not allowed to work since its almost like high school but from what I've heard there are loads of 'summer' jobs here, if you got your cert you might nail a good job

2nd, outside my uni campus, the 1st building on the right are only for international students starting as 'freshmen' before fully getting admitted to the uni, 99% of students there are Asians lol
