There are disadvantages especially if the married couple do not study each others cultures and values before settling down. There are diverse cultures in Africa, and some of them requires certain practices especially in the event of death of a spouse or some other misfortune. Some parts are even too diabolical.
Bottom line,look before you leap.

in my own opinion, the happiness or the duration of a marriage should not be based on whether a couple has children or not. Children themselves are blessings from God, and an extension of the love of God and of the parents. Part of the wedding vows includes 'for better, for worst' promising to love and cherish each other till the end, despite ALL odds. That's why am really of an opinion that marriage is not for babies. It means more.

I really think love, tolerance and maturity should be the key in this type of union. The couple should understand what they are about to do,and agree on their own terms before getting married.on a personal note, I still think people should marry based on their religious backgrounds-marriage has a lot of work and responsibilities.
