Well, the quote makes sense to me now. Meanwhile, If you check my posts, you’ll see that I am not for selling 10 players at once. I just wanted to be sure that Rauf was not yapping as usual.

A manager is confirming that at least 10 out of about 30 registered players will be with the club next season and people are wondering why all 30 are not being sent packing. Because we can just go and pick up 30 players at Agboju market na.

But the question is valid. How can you be talking about an overhaul and 10 out of starting 11 will stay? It does not make sense to me.

New thing I heard today, Rauf helped us to get ETH!

Tbh, I don’t know what we want. Full package? AWB is physical and good defensively, not good attacking-wise, Telles does put in good crosses, not very good defensively. Trent is not a good defender, but the manager’s style has ensured that he is useful going forward to mask his deficiencies.

Very few perfect/full package players are out there. Managers should be ready to find ways to make a team of average and some superstars play good football, not be looking for 11 superstars!

That does not mean that you just use default setting and assume they are all good. You have to assess on a case by case basis to find out why each player struggled. Some have just been the wrong buys.

Telles for example has no pace to overlap and no recovery pace to stay with attackers. He is not physically strong and gets pushed around easily thereby losing 1v1 tussles. Better coaching can indeed get his crossing back to his Porto days but that is about it. His physical limitations that have nothing to do with tactics makes me believe he won't be a success at the club.

Physicality is not needed in every team. Some of Pep’s players are not physical. Some good/successful EPL players are technical but not physical.

Afrodoc, I remember we had discussed the level of debt at Utd vs Chelsea at some point, and I said that some clubs have more debt vs Utd, but we don’t see it because of the structures they’ve adopted.

Utd’s debt today is less than 500m while Chelsea is owing over 1.5 billion pounds……and apparently, Abramovich wants his money. This is delaying the takeover transaction.

The Glaziers are not in charge of day to day running of the club, they have released money for transfers when ask to. Put the blame of the rubbish signing on Woodward and his team, Liverpool signing are having massive impact cos they have a good structure on ground. This is what Woodward should have put in place as Executive Vice Chairman, not the Glaziers. I have blamed them where they didn't do well, but certainly not with spending a mind blowing $1bn plus on players signing alone....

This guy gets it. It does not make sense for fans to come here and say that the glaziers have not spent on player acquisitions, squad development etc. Investors don’t run a company, they invest and get dividends in return. If you don’t gerrit, then forget about it.
