We bought jambody Fellaini from Everton to come and comtrol our midfield.
Morgan Schneiderlin no get liver to play for top club.
Bastian was practically finished when we bought him.
Chelsea fans were already calling Nemanja bag of beans before we splashed 40m on him. And he wasn’t that bad sef.
Casemiro was an expensive signing that only had 2 years left at the top level.
The less spoken about Amrabat, the better.

Of these lot, Pogba and Bruno are the only ones worthy to start in Man Utd at the moment they were bought.

You even listed Scott McTom as if he was a good passer of the ball. His best atttibutr was crashing the box and that’s it. And what does key modern starter mean? 😭 😭 The same Kobbie we saw today and against Grimsby? The best for that kid is to keep getting sub minutes until he’s up to speed. He should not be a starter I’m sorry.

In a team requiring competent starters, we’re parading squad options. And we want to compete with top teams.
Lol, when we signed those players, they were the best in their respective teams, and you all celebrated their signing. We no fit forget, if you’ve forgotten.

Sign the 5 players first. Not every player signed by other teams end up meeting expectations. You bin them after a season or two if they don't meet expectations.
Did they not sign 4-5 players last summer for Amorim? What about the transfer window before that? Abegi, we can use this squad to get European football. No let Amorim confuse una with the 15th position finish last season.

We're on course to achieving top 6 already. All we needed to do was to stop conceding some of those easily avoidable goals that were against the run of play. Those goals that stopped us from winning against the likes of Wolves, Burnley etc
But that’s my point no, we don’t need to change players to qualify for European football. And we can build from there in the summer. This team needs ginger. If you like, sign 5 more players this month, they will come here and become ‘dross’.

When we were playing CL and had CL money, how may players did we buy per season? Is it not the same 2/3 major incomings heavy laden with hype and a tad overpaid for?
See the list above. So until we sign 5 midfielders at once?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 8:58pm On Jan 11
Leyqute:
Have you plugged the hole in midfield since SAF left?
See list of midfielders (including attacking) we have bought since Ferguson retired. Most of these guys were the best in their respective clubs.

• Casemiro
• Sofyan Amrabat (loan → later permanent context-dependent)

• Paul Pogba
• Fred
• Mason Mount
• Marcel Sabitzer (loan)

Attacking / Creative

• James Garner – defensive / deep-lying
• Hannibal Mejbri – box-to-box
• Zidane Iqbal – central midfielder

Top 4-6 this season, same next season and one of the cups.

Have we spent over the years or not?

We don't have that many players that are better than some of the players in these teams. I can easily list 5-7 of our players that are not all that. There's a reason why top teams want to have the best players possible in every position.

There's also the matter of mentality, fitness, strength and determination to fight for every ball and cover a lot of ground
So, are you saying that we won’t achieve anything with this set of players, even if we get a better manager?

Comparing us with CL teams with UEFA money to spend?
We dey even try sef. We competitively sign players despite no major trophies and inconsistent UCL participations.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 8:34pm On Jan 11
At this rate, our fans would only be happy if we swap squads with other performing teams every year.

Leyqute:
Will you take Zubimendi and Rice over Ugarte and Mainoo—yes or no?

Are they superstars?

What about Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali? Are they superstars?
Well. Hindsight is great, we sabi Rice now. No Dey whine us for here. If Rice was here, he would have been another useless British player.

Rice and the players you mentioned are average players that are performing well because of their managers.

Meanwhile, should we go back to the mercenary model?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 8:26pm On Jan 11

He’ll also tell him to “play the yoots.”

As if other teams are relying heavily on their academy to win games.
Can you bring up any post where I said we should play the yooots? Also, remind me how you guys were against signing expensive mercenaries and just buying players that will grow with the team. I remember when Utd was buying the big boys, you guys were saying we needed to build a squad with potentials. Now, we should revert to the mercenary model.

Chai, Una get plenty mouths for here o.

We still need a midfielder pass all these ones wey you dey talk.

Arsenal had Rice and bought Zubimendi the next TW. This is in addition to Merino and Odegaard.

Chelsea bought Enzo and added Lavia and Caicedo the next year. Dem get 2 heads?

I don’t want to mention City who bought 2 GKs in a window. If na Man Utd buy that Trafford and it doesn’t look like it will work out, instead of buying Donnarumma, they will demand Pep to make magic with Trafford.

Fire and hire will only work when you back it up with a quality squad.
I guess we take one and discard the other. Arsenal is performing because they have above average players not because Arteta seems to know how to make the squad work. Zubimendi and Rice are now superstars?

Walai it's true but no need to dwell on that.

We could get a win or a draw and everyone will think we're back. Then we lose or draw the next small team we face. That's why I'm never particular or interested in the results against big teams. They don't tell the true story. I'll know we're back when we start destroying the smaller teams
Quick question for you? Is our squad worse than those of Wolves, Burnley and Nottingham Forest? Why are we not beating the small clubs?

The imminent change in formation and tactics might also necessitate slight changes in focus during the next TW.

It appears the addition of a LWF is now a priority rather than a luxury.

Till then, we just have to make do with the resources on ground.

Amad on the LW might not be the best of tactical decisions. However, i feel it cant be worse than the dross we've seen from Cunha as a LWF and LAMF.

Dorgu also needs some time off. He might have more stamina and energy but I think Shaw's superior football brain as a LB would benefit us more at this point.
This is the point. We use what we have and upgrade as we go, hopefully with a manager that works. Although, on average, unless we are lucky to get a Pep, we should be ready to let go of any manager we sign after 3-4 years. Gone are the days of having a manager stick around for long, unless we are ready to go without trophies for some seasons, with the same manager.

The people who know should do their job.

Because I know nothing about making phones means I should accept any defaults that came with the phone. I bought?
Na you buy the players? You are just a fan that probably uses free to air / iptv to watch football. Leave the job for people that their livelihoods depend on the club’s performances.

This, and hopefully we are lucky with manager appointment to ensure we can use well whatever resources we have or acquire. This is key. A bad McTom was a beast under Mou and is doing well under Conte.

Have Ugarte performed better than any of our past Mids?

We lost Fred, McTom, Pogba midfield and got Casemiro, Ugarte, Gbamrabat🤣🤣 Can even mention Mount cos I no know where him dey play now.
Who do you want us to sign to replace McFred?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 7:51pm On Jan 11
Jamiuokolaa:
Cunha seems to be so bad, he doesnt appear to be an upgrade on Garnacho if we are to be honest with ourselves.

Mount was one of the poorest players on the pitch in that 1st half and was rightly substituted.

The team performance in that 2nd half was dreadful.

Aside Dorgu’s technical limitations, it also appears his Football IQ is quite low.

Shaw should be starting at LB IMO, while we try Maz at RB again.

Fletcher looked confused on that touchline...lol.
Lol, again, I remember when people celebrated the sale of Garnacho and were happy when Cunha was signed. Where the bad belle reach ehn, they were monitoring Garnacho’s performances at Chelsea and dropping posts here to celebrate whenever he had stinkers. Someone that has left us o. Very toxic fans!

We never had it worse with those 3 guys in our team. Every coach dumbs them after they are initially but always go back to them, most especially Mctominay.

Since, we sold both of them, have Man Utd improve
And many were celebrating when they were sold. No more McFred, thank God! Now they are blaming the replacements to make their MCM look good.

This is what the benefit of hindsight can do...When McFred was here, we all said they were not good enough for the club. I'd like for people to give their honest opinion when a player is bought and not come here months later to lament when in all honesty, they celebrated the purchase of the player when he arrived.
That’s why I never really focus on the players. Most of them were doing well in their former clubs and so many people celebrated when we signed them. Now they are crap.

Ugarte the destroyer, just pair him with a visionary midfielder and see wonders, bla bla bla. Now he’s a very bad player.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 7:37pm On Jan 11
Don’t forget that the so called new structure is responsible for more than half of this squad. Household names in football management. All of a sudden, McFred is now the real deal.
