Since he played the character, Jesus, in the 1977 movie, Jesus of Nazareth, Robert Powell’s photos are hung in churches, homes, cars, schools, offices and many holy grottos all over the world to drive off evil forces and attract good fortunes.

However, Powell has cried out in the social media that he is not Jesus and that people should stop worshiping him. Rather, they should respect the true Jesus and worship God. His is among the most trending stories on social media in January 2016.

In his words: “I never cease to say and I repeat it to the world since 1977. I am not Jesus Christ, I am just an actor and British comedian. I am tired of seeing my photos displayed in places of worship and other places for worship. I just make a film for a living. Burn my picture and worship the only God in truth ! I am just an actor… Jesus is Lord!”

Another actor who played Jesus is Jim Caviezel. According to clipd.com, “Jim is arguably one of the most famous portrayals of Jesus in acting history. He played Jesus in Mel Gibson’s ‘The Passion Of The Christ,’ which is the greatest selling Christian movie of all time. Jim won one award for his portrayal as Jesus, and several other nominations.” He too may soon beg people to stop worshipping him like Powell.

He had a small role in the original film version of The Italian Job (1969) playing one of the gang, but had to wait a few years for his first success, playing scientist Toby Wren in the BBC’s science fiction series, Doomwatch in 1970. Having been killed off in the last episode of the original series, at his request, Powell became a pin-up and a household name, following up with starring roles in several BBC serials, including television adaptations of the novels Sentimental Education (1970) and Jude the Obscure (1971). He also appeared in the 1975 series Looking for Clancy, based on the Frederic Mullally novel Clancy.

For several years Powell continued as a television regular, with occasional forays into film, as the Austrian composer Gustav Mahler in the Ken Russell biopic Mahler (1974) and Captain Walker in Russell’s film version of Tommy (1975). His role in Tommy had no lines at all and apart from a few early scenes during the overture with Ann-Margret, he is primarily seen through the mind of his son as played by Barry Winch (Young Tommy) and Roger Daltrey. In one of those scenes Captain Walker is shown in a crucifixion pose.

He then played Jesus Christ in Jesus of Nazareth (1977) following a successful second audition with Franco Zeffirelli. The two-part television film had an all-star cast, including Laurence Olivier, Ernest Borgnine and Stacey Keach, Christopher Plummer, Rod Steiger and James Mason. For this role, Powell was nominated for a BAFTA award, and collected the TVTimes Best Actor award for the same performance.

In 1975, Powell married his girlfriend, the Pan’s People dancer Babs Lord, shortly before he was due to start filming for Jesus of Nazareth on location in Morocco. On 23 November 1977, they had their son, Barney, followed in 1979 by a daughter, Kate.

In 1978, Powell took the leading role of Richard Hannay in the third film version of The Thirty Nine Steps. It met with modest success, and critics compared Powell’s portrayal of John Buchan’s character favourably with his predecessors. His characterisation proved to be enduring, as almost ten years later a television series entitled simply Hannay appeared with Powell back in the role, (although the Buchan short stories on which the series was based were set in an earlier period than The Thirty-Nine Steps). Hannay ran for two seasons.

In 1980, Powell appeared in the film Harlequin, playing the Harlequin of the title who seems to have the power to cure the son of a powerful politician. For this performance, he won the Best Actor Award at the Paris Film Festival. In 1982, he won Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival for his role in Imperativ.

Powell then agreed to a request from his old friend and golf partner, comedian Jasper Carrott, taking the part of an incompetent detective in a succession of sketches that formed part of Carrott’s television series. The Detectives was so popular that it was turned into a sitcom, Powell’s first and only venture into this genre.

In 1984, Powell made his U.S. film debut in What Waits Below (as known as Secrets of the Phantom Caverns).

In 1986, Powell narrated and co-starred in William C. Faure’s popular miniseries Shaka Zulu, with football legend Henry Cele in the title role. In 1992, he starred in the New Zealand World War I film Chunuk Bair, as Sgt Maj Frank Smith. In 1993-1995, he was the voice actor of Dr Livesey in The Legends of Treasure Island.

Nowadays Powell appears in person less often, but his distinctive voice is frequently heard on voice-overs, advertisements and as a narrator of television programmes such as Great Crimes and Trials and The Century of Warfare and World War II in HD Colour. He read the novel Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez for BBC Radio 4’s Book at Bedtime, and has also narrated many audio books including The Thirty Nine Steps, abridged versions of many of Alan Garner’s books, and several abridged novels for ‘The Talking Classics Collection’. Powell has also lent his voice to musical works, such as David Bedford’s album The Rime of the Ancient Mariner,[4] or the 2002 rock opera The Hound of the Baskervilles, by Clive Nolan and Oliver Wakeman, where he played the role of John Watson. He also narrated on two rock albums by Rick Wakeman called Cost of Living and The Gospels (1987).

On 29 October 2001, a state-of-the-art theatre named after him was opened at the University of Salford.[5] He became a patron of 24:7 Theatre Festival in 2004, and continues to operate in this capacity as of 2014. I’m often asked: what is the best way to finance a new business venture. This question is usually followed by "So, do you ever invest in new business ventures?"

The answers, respectively, are:
1. there is no "best" way to fund a new business; and
2. I do invest in new business ventures,

The truth is there are a variety of ways to finance a new business and which way is best for you depends totally on your product, your market, your financial requirements, your burn rate, and most importantly, your personal and financial situation.


So with that in mind, here are a few of the most common ways to finance a new business without hitting old Tim up for a loan. Keep in mind that all methods have pros and cons and some (or most) may not work for your specific situation.


No matter what financing method you choose thoroughly investigate the ups and downs and don’t jump in with both feet until you’re sure you’ll land on solid ground.


#1: Savings and Investments

The first source you should consider tapping is your savings and investments. I’m a huge fan of self-financing when it comes to business because it doesn’t make you responsible to others should the business fail.

The bad thing is that if things do go unplanned, it will be your money that goes down with the ship. If you’re not willing to risk your capital, you certainly shouldn’t be willing to risk anyone else’s.


#2: Friends and Family

After tapping their savings and investments, many entrepreneurs turn to friends and family for help. This works well for some, but here’s the creed I live by

NEVER borrow money from anyone you have to eat Thanksgiving dinner with. Nothing causes tension in a family like lending money that is never paid back. And notice I say "lending money" rather than investing money.

Venture capitalists invest money. Your relatives lend you money. They will expect it back someday even if they say they won’t. Remember, when a loved one invests in your business they are emotionally investing in you.

It would be tough to tell mom and dad that their favorite son lost their life savings because his business went down the drain.


#3: Credit Cards
I financed my second application known as Pass At Once CBT on credit cards, which was an incredibly stupid thing to do given the fact that my business could have failed and left me with thousands of Naira in credit debt that would have taken long for me to pay off.
It worked out in the end for me, but if you decide to finance your business on Credit keep in mind that you will be paying extremely high-interest rates on the money you’ve borrowed and unless you hit it big you will be paying for that money for many years to come.


#4: Mortgage The Farm
Bank loans are next to impossible to get if you don’t have collateral and a track record of business success, which is why many entrepreneurs use the equity in their homes to finance their business after being turned down for a bank loan.

While this makes more sense than building a business on a deck of credit cards, the financial risks are no less abundant.

You must pay this money back whether your business succeeds or not, but it is a good source of low-interest money to get you started, and the interest may be tax deductible (check with your accountant to make sure).


#5: Angel Investors
An angel investor is typically a wealthy individual who invests in start-up ventures for a share of the ownership. Angel investors are usually the first formal investors in a business and provide the seed money to get the business up and running.

Some angel investors will write you a check and leave you alone to run your business while others consider their investment a license to "help you" manage and make decisions.

If you do accept angel money make sure the terms are clearly defined on both sides. Angel money always comes with strings.

Make sure you know whether those strings come in the form of a bow or a noose before you accept an angel’s check.


#6: Venture Capitalists
Venture capitalists are angel investors as pit bulls are to Chihuahuas. That’s not to say all VC is big, bad dogs, but they do have powerful jaws that can chew up your business and spit it out if things don’t go their way. VC money doesn’t come with strings; it comes with chains and locks and lots of legal documents. VC always have the upper hand in any deal they invest in. That’s just how it works, and that’s the price you pay to get access to VC money.

If your business gets to the level that VC money becomes a viable option, don’t jump at the first bone a VC dangles before your eyes. If one VC likes your idea, others will, too. Present to multiple VC and carefully consider each offer before you accept the check.

Just remember, no matter how you finance your business, use the money wisely. Should be used with care... you don't grow financially without understanding real investment. And Have a very clear plan of how the money will be used and how it will be paid back.

And remember this, the more you can shoestring the business, but more of the business you will own in the end.

for Npower Nigeria physical verification.

Needed for Npower Physical Verification.
They are;


1. A valid identity card,
2. Your education credentials,
3. Your BVN card,
4. Residential permit of your Local Government
area,
5. Your passport photograph,
6 Your NYSC discharge certificate(for only
graduates),
7. Lastly your N-power 2017 online print out


with your Reference number.
Why Npower Nigeria physical verification?
The Npower physical verification is carried out
to fetch out the shaft from the grains, that is is
just it. Npower physical verification is done in
other to ensure that only qualified persons are
employed. There is nothing like bias in Npower
physical verification. Every person has equal
chance of being selected. During the Npower
physical verification, all fake persons will be
disqualified totally.
Here are some questions you will be required to
fill by the Npower personnel.


The questions are;
• You will be asked to fill your full names as
recorded in your BVN.
• Your address information.
• Follow your state of origin and LGA.
• The local government area (LGA) of State of
residence
• You will also be asked for your mother’s
maiden name.
• The year and month you finished your NYSC
service.
• Lastly your NYSC PPA (place of primary
assignment) and state.


Important Update to NCE or OND Applicant
This category is for NCE or OND. Please and
please, if you an NCE or OND applicant, make
sure you have the original certificate or
statement of the result to be presented on your
physical verification day which is almost near.
If you are a Degree or higher national diploma
(HND) applicant, ensure your NYSC discharge
certificate is ready on or before the physical
verification day, the reason is that you will be
asked to be presented on the day of your
physical verification, failure to do so, you know
the opposite? If you are the one who appears
with results but without NYSC certificate, then
you will automatically be disqualified without an
option of grace.The reason we are carrying out
physical verification before final shortlisting of
candidates to be employed is to fetch out such
applicants who will increase the shortlisted
number without making it in the end.
Therefore, if you are there and you have not
met the conditions stated above, am begin you
not to lose this opportunity. Kindly try in to get
those document before the physical verification
day. And if you think am saying my own, then
give yourself the pains of wasting money for all

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned during my career path is to do something you love to do. Why is this important? I feel that if you enjoy what you make a living at, you end up being happy in more ways than one.

Life itself becomes much more interesting and fun. You find yourself speaking passionately to others about your work. The experiences you have along the way become much more rewarding, and enrich your life in many ways.


You meet fascinating people. I know people who have turned favorite hobbies into small businesses and have succeeded. Sure, they may have had to sacrifice a steady paycheck for their happiness, but not one of them either turned back or gave up. Their passion carried them through to success.


While no job or business is perfect, the important thing is to enjoy it, even learn from it. If you are unhappy with your current situation, why not take steps now to change it?

Somewhere out there is a job or business that is perfect for you. If you are already there, I applaud you. If not, realize that it may take some time to figure out what you want to do, and even more, time to get there.
