The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited has suspended self-collection gantry sales of petroleum products at its facility with effect from Thursday, September 18, 2025.
This was contained in a mail correspondence obtained by our correspondent on Friday, which was signed by the Group Commercial Operations Department of the company.
The directive aims to promote wider adoption of the refinery’s free delivery scheme for retail outlets and to halt sales to unregistered marketers, whether they buy directly from its depot or indirectly through other marketers.
Dangote explained that the move was an operational adjustment aimed at improving efficiency. The company urged marketers to adopt its Free Delivery Scheme, which provides direct shipments to retail outlets.
It also warned that any payments made after the effective date would be rejected.
The communication, addressed to its marketing partners, read in part, “We wish to inform you that, effective 18th September 2025, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has placed all self-collection gantry sales on hold until further notice. In light of this development, we kindly request that all payments related to active PFIs for self-collection are also placed on hold until further notice. Please note that any payment made after this date will not be honoured.”
The company, however, assured that its Free Delivery Scheme remains operational for both active and newly onboarded customers.
“We encourage all active and newly onboarded customers to register for the DPRP Free Delivery Scheme, which remains fully operational and offers a seamless delivery experience to your station,” the mail stated.
The management also apologised for the inconveniences the decision might cause, adding, “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we implement this operational adjustment.”
The development comes against the backdrop of a lingering row between the refinery, the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, and the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria.
While NUPENG has accused the refinery of resisting unionisation of its truck drivers despite a government-brokered agreement, DAPPMAN has faulted the company’s controversial “free delivery scheme,” alleging that marketers are compelled to rely on Dangote’s fleet at commercial rates.
The refinery, on its part, insists the scheme is meant to stabilise supply and cut costs, accusing marketers of seeking subsidies and fuelling diversion. The standoff has heightened concerns over pricing, labour rights, and competition in the downstream oil sector.
The decision is expected to have implications for independent petroleum marketers and retail owners who have not registered for the free delivery scheme and have relied on direct self-collection from the refinery’s gantry.

The Nigeria Customs Service has issued detailed guidelines to shortlisted candidates ahead of its computer-based test for the ongoing recruitment exercise.

The service emphasised that the CBT would be strictly monitored and advised candidates to take note of all instructions to avoid disqualification.
According to the NCS, here are 10 key things applicants must know:
1. Test will be online The service explained that the CBT would be conducted virtually, allowing candidates to write the exam from any location as long as there is reliable internet access. It added that those without personal devices could make use of internet-enabled computer centres.
2. Mobile phones not allowed Applicants were warned against attempting to use mobile phones for the exam, as the platform does not support such devices. Only laptops and desktops that have webcam capability and allow full-screen display will be accepted.
3. Facial verification required The NCS stated that a mandatory facial recognition process would be carried out during login. Candidates were urged to prepare accordingly, as their faces must match the details already provided during registration.
4. Avoid untidy appearance The mail advised applicants to ensure their facial presentation is clear and uncluttered, stressing that “clumsy facial looks” might hinder the smooth operation of the verification system.
5. Sensitive to noise and movement The CBT application is programmed to detect unusual behaviour. Candidates were cautioned to sit still and maintain focus throughout the test. The system, it warned, could log out those who make excessive body movements or create noise.
6. No distractions allowed Beyond movements, the service also warned against writing the exam in noisy environments. It explained that whispering or background disturbances may be picked up by the system and interpreted as malpractice.
7. One window at a time Applicants must remain on a single screen throughout the exam. Switching from one window to another, even briefly, could be flagged by the application as an attempt to cheat.
8. Pre-test before main exam To familiarise candidates with the system, the service said there would be a compulsory practice session two days before the actual test. This, it added, would enable applicants to understand how the application works and reduce errors on the exam day.
9. Two links for candidates The NCS explained that applicants would receive two separate links: one to access the pre-test and another for the main CBT on a different date. It urged candidates to use the correct link on the assigned day.
10. Extra test for Superintendent cadre The mail noted that those who applied for the Superintendent cadre (Level would undertake an additional CBT in the next phase of the recruitment. However, this requirement does not apply to candidates seeking positions in the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres.
The service said that applicants who scale through all stages would be invited for a final screening.
Air Peace has announced delays on some of its flights across the country following heavy rainfall in Lagos on Tuesday morning.
The airline disclosed this in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, on Tuesday.

Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited has highlighted the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and productivity across its vast gas infrastructure.
The Deputy Managing Director, NLNG, Mr Olakunle Osobu, disclosed this while addressing a global audience of more than 50,000 participants from 150 countries in a panel session at the ongoing Gastech Exhibition and Conference in Milan, Italy.
The session was themed, “Operational Excellence Through the Application of Artificial Intelligence Technologies.”
Osobu explained that NLNG’s adoption of AI was not just strategic but essential, driven by the scale and complexity of its operations, as well as the company’s push to boost domestic supply and exports.
“With over 10,000 operators and technicians working simultaneously towards a common goal, the use of AI is not only imperative but compulsory,” he said.
He noted that NLNG’s culture of continuous improvement and its zero-incident policy demanded intelligent systems capable of guiding operations, boosting safety, and simplifying decision-making.
“We have embedded AI into every aspect of our operations – from safety protocols to machine performance. It has made us more efficient, nimbler, and more productive.
“Our standard is to improve everything we do, every day,” Osobu said.
Highlighting a breakthrough in workforce training, he said that AI and visual technologies had significantly reduced the time required to train plant operators.
According to him, previously, it took six to 12 months to train an operator to expertise level. With AI, we now achieve this in just two to three months.
He explained that the reduction translated directly into improved productivity and lower costs.
Osobu said that AI had also transformed equipment management, enabling machines to function faster and more efficiently, while providing actionable insights that simplify complex decisions.
He said that the deployment of the technology had assisted in making smarter decisions, using data to deliver actionable insights.
“It is like using a breeze instead of a hammer – smart work over hard work.
“Wherever AI can be applied, we use it. It is the future of our industry, and we are fully invested in it,” he said.
He, however, explained that NLNG’s technology team regularly reviews usage to ensure demand-driven deployment, avoiding waste and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Also speaking, Mr Jude Ohanyere, Senior Mechanical Engineer for Static Equipment at NLNG, said the company was carrying out a life-extension assessment for critical assets such as the Main Cryogenic Heat Exchanger (MCHE).
“We’ve partnered with Honeywell, the OEM, to ensure that the MCHE can operate safely and reliably for the next 10 to 25 years.
“Reliable assets mean fewer outages and stronger supply commitments,” he said.
Ohanyere, who presented a technical paper on LNG Operations, added that NLNG’s reliability also benefits upstream partners by reducing gas flaring and improving the country’s energy mix.

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors has issued the Federal Government a fresh 24-hour ultimatum to meet its outstanding demands, following the expiration of its earlier 10-day deadline on September 10.
The decision followed a six-hour meeting of the association’s National Executive Council, held virtually on Wednesday.
The President of NARD, Dr. Tope Osundara, said the association acknowledged the government’s promise to address their concerns but insisted on immediate action.
In a communiqué issued on September 1, 2025, and signed by NARD President, Dr. Tope Osundara; General Secretary, Dr. Oluwasola Odunbaku; and Publicity and Social Secretary, Dr. Omoha Amobi, the doctors demanded immediate payment of the outstanding 2025 Medical Residency Training Fund, settlement of five months’ arrears from the 25–35 per cent Consolidated Medical Salary Structure review, and other long-standing salary backlogs.
They also demanded the payment of the 2024 accoutrement allowance arrears, prompt disbursement of specialist allowances, and restoration of the recognition of the West African postgraduate membership certificates by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
In addition, they called on the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria to issue membership certificates to all deserving candidates, implement the 2024 Consolidated Medical Salary Structure, resolve outstanding welfare issues in Kaduna State, and address the plight of resident doctors at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.
Resident doctors form the backbone of Nigeria’s public health system, providing a large share of clinical services in federal and state hospitals. Any strike action by the association often paralyses healthcare delivery, leaving patients stranded and hospitals overstretched.
Speaking with our correspondent on Thursday, Dr. Osundara said, “The Federal Government called us yesterday (Wednesday) and promised to address our concerns.
“After a six-hour deliberation, we decided to give the government the next 24 hours to ensure the disbursement of the Medical Residency Training Fund to beneficiaries, for the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria to upgrade our membership certificates, and to attend to our other demands.
“If there is no payment by today (Thursday), then tomorrow (Friday), we will start the strike immediately.”
According to him, more than 2,000 resident doctors across the country are still awaiting payment of the MRTF.
