Politics › This Is Not The Time For Holidaying - Peter Obi Tells President Tinubu by nlfpmod(mod): 7:06pm On Jun 28, 2025 |
No, Mr President, this is not the Time for Holidaying.
Dear Nigerians, I am struggling with my senses to understand what is happening to governance in this country.
What I have seen and witnessed in the last two years has left me in shock about poor governance delivery and apparent channelling of energy into politics and satisfaction of the elites, while the masses in our midst are languishing in want.
In the past two years, Nigeria has lost more people to all sorts of criminality than a country that is officially at war. Without any twilight, Nigeria ranks among the most insecure places in the world. Nigerians are hungrier, and most people do not know where their next meal will come from.
With such a gory picture of one’s country, you can imagine my bewilderment when I saw a news release from the Presidency announcing that President Bola Tinubu is departing Nigeria today for a visit to Saint Lucia in the Caribbean.
The Presidency release merely confirmed an earlier news report since last week where the Prime Minister of the Caribbean Philip J. Pierre announced at a pre-cabinet press briefing on Monday, last week that President Bola Tinubu is expected to depart Nigeria on Saturday, June 28, 2025, for Saint Lucia for official engagements and private leisure time.
According to the Prime Minister’s announcement “two of these days, June 30 and July 1, will be dedicated to an official visit, with the remainder of the trip set aside as a personal vacation.
I told the person who drew my attention to the Caribbean story that it cannot be true and that the President is just coming back from a holiday in Lagos. I didn’t want to believe that anybody in the position of authority, more so the President, on whose table the buck stops in this country, with all the myriad problems in virtually all areas of governance, would contemplate a leisure trip at this time.
This is a President going for leisure when he couldn’t visit Minna, Niger state where over two hundred lives were lost and over 700 persons still missing in a flood natural disaster. I wonder which type of incident will happen before a President is attracted to show physical sympathy to the distressed citizens.
The other state in crisis where over two hundred lives were murdered, the President yielded to public pressure and visited Makurdi the state capital for what turned out to be a political jamboree than condolence as public holiday was declared and children made to line up to receive the President who couldn’t even reach the village, the scene of the brutal attack.
In terms of land size, Makurdi is 937.4 Km², which is over 59% bigger than St Lucia, which is 617 km², and Minna is 6789 square kilometres, which is ten times bigger than St Lucia. St Lucia, with a population of 180,000, is less than half of Makurdi’s 489 839 and Minna, with 532, 000 is almost three times the population of St Lucia.
I don't think the situation in this country today calls for leisure for anybody in a position of authority, more so the President, on whose desk the buck stops. This regime has repeatedly shown its insensitivity and lack of passion for the populace, going by the way it prioritises the rich and shows indifference to the poor.
This very obvious indifference of the federal government to the suffering of the Nigerian poor should urgently be reversed. One had expected the President to be asking God for extra hours in a day for the challenges, but what we see is a concentration of efforts in the 2027 election and on satisfying the wealthy while the mass poor continues to multiply in number.
Finally, I like to let our leaders know one thing that the God given resources of this country belong to all, not to a few. The time has come to put a stop to this drift before it consumes all and focus on pulling people out of poverty. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO https://x.com/PeterObi/status/1938970181021114851?t=pTgn3NC3iditA9dDFKg6Xg&s=08

Celebrities › Portable Dressed As A Crossdresser, Kemi Olunloyo Knocks Him (photos) by nlfpmod(mod): 11:28am On Jun 21, 2025 |
Kemi Olunloyo has slammed Portable for dressing like a woman - as a crossdresser. I’ve already told Nigerians for 20 years that I have no issues with homosexuals and trans people as I lived in North America 3 decades and interacted with many🇺🇸🇨🇦
However I dislike CROSS DRESSERS. This caused a fight earlier this year between me and the Igala people of Kogi state on Facebook regarding their comedians always dressing like women to make us laugh. While some of you are laughing at Aloma’s skits others like me are irritated. You hate gays but happy about crossdressers.
You do NOT have to dress like a woman to make us laugh!
You do NOT have to dress like a woman to make us laugh!
You do NOT have to dress like a woman to make us laugh!
Now this! Portable is just irritating me right now. I have dealt with the issue of Bobrisky and James Brown on protecting young African kids. You scream that being gay is not our culture yet you subscribe to this.
Talk to your children about crossdressing. It is NOT acceptable!

Education › ABU, Zaria Bans Kissing, Hugging, Bushy Hair, Beard, Tattoo, Dreadlocks, Sagging by nlfpmod(mod): 4:57pm On Jun 18, 2025 |
Ahmadu Bello University Bans 'Bushy Hair, Beards, Kissing, Hugging' Others Among Students In New Controversial Dress Code
Nigeria's Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has introduced a controversial dress code policy for both students and staff, claiming it would promote a professional and modest environment on campus.
The dress code policy which is contained in a University's Special Bulletin issued on June 16, SaharaReporters' obtained on Wednesday, said it prohibits a range of clothing items and styles, including shorts, skimpy dresses, body-hugging outfits, and transparent or see-through clothing.
The Bulletin signed by the University Management is titled: "Ahmadu Bello University Dress Code".
The code also discourages unkempt appearances, such as bushy hair and beards, and prohibits specific items like earrings for male students and ankle chains for female students.
According to the policy, students and staff who fail to comply with the dress code will face sanctions.
The bulletin partly read: "The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Dress Code Implementation Committee, reconstituted by the Management, has revised the provisions of the ABU Dress Code that is applicable to both staff and students.
"The following descriptions and elements henceforth constitute indecent and offensive dressing as well as unacceptable appearance in public spaces in the university, and are considered as acts of misconduct:
"Wearing shorts and skimpy dresses e.g., body hugs, show-me-your-chest, spaghetti wears and dresses exposing sensitive parts.
"Wearing tights, shorts and skirts that are above the knees (except for sporting purposes). Wearing Tattered jeans with holes. Transparent and see through dresses.
"Wearing tight fittings e.g. jeans skirts, hip star, patra, lakra etc. that reveal the contour of the body.
"Under-clothing, such as singlets worn publicly. Unkempt appearance, such as bushy hair and beards. Dresses that make it impossible to wear laboratory coat during practicals or participate actively in practicals.
"Long and tight skirts which are opened in front, back or at the sides which reveal sensitive parts as the wearer moves on. Wearing of t-shirts with obscene captions.
"Wearing shirts without buttons or not properly buttoned, leaving the wearer bare chested. Wearing of earrings by male students."
Additionally, "Plaiting or weaving of hair by male students. Wearing of coloured eye glasses, not on medical grounds in the classrooms. Wearing of bathroom slippers to classrooms (not on medical grounds).
"Wearing of trousers that stop between knee and ankle. Having multi-colour braid for female. Having coloured hair styling. Having dreadlocks by male or female. Spangle hair style for male.
"Tattoo, piercing of body parts for lip plug/dic, mouth plate, nose ring and eyelet. Wearing of ankle chain by female. Wearing of long eyelashes by female. Wearing of Sagging/ass-down by both male and female. Engaging in intimate open embrace (hugging/kissing). Openly sitting on each other's lap by opposite sex, and Unconventional wearing of face cap," it partly read.
The policy has sparked debate among students and staff, with some arguing that it infringes on their rights and freedoms.
The university administration claimed that the policy is necessary to maintain a professional and respectful environment on campus. https://saharareporters.com/2025/06/18/ahmadu-bello-university-bans-bushy-hair-beards-kissing-hugging-others-among-students-new
