The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has sanctioned 17 out of the 1,712 corps members for the 2018 Batch B (Stream I) deployed to Ondo for NYSC. Grace Akpabio NYSC Coordinator in the State made the disclosure while presenting certificates to the corps members who had completed their one-year mandatory service. Mrs. Akpabio said out of the 17, ten corps member would repeat their service year for abscondment while the remaining seven will have their service year extended. According to her, the erring corps members were found wanting and engaged in the acts of indiscipline which is against the NYSC code and ethics. Akpabio noted that the NYSC has invested in the future of the corps members with the various skills and vocations learnt during their service year. "Your service year has provided you with a lifetime opportunity to make a decent living from your sweat and stay away from sharp practices. "So, you are leaving behind legacies that will stand the test of time and I am confident that fitting into the society will not pose any challenge or threat to you," she said. https://i0.wp.com/nyscinfo.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/PSX_20190616_160309.jpg Nyscinfo.com formerly reported on June 16th 2019, that an NYSC 2018 Batch B Stream 1 Corps Member currently serving in Oyo state committed suicide. It has been revealed that he left a suicide note stating he was fed up with life and pleaded with his parents to forgive him for all the troubles they went through to see him through school. Onyilo, a graduate of University of Jos, Plateau State, from the Department of Accounting, was reportedly serving in Ibadan North-West Local Government Area of the state, when he chose to take his own life. A close check at our NYSC facebook group "NYSC Batch A,B&C Group", revealed that due to depression, he has once attempted suicide in the past. In his revelation on February 28 2019, while reacting to a suicide post on our facebook group, he wrote "Don't be surprise that I ones attempted the same thing. let forget about money aspect, depression is truly a disease that can lure someone into suicide. Thank God I was able to encourage myself." https://i2.wp.com/nyscinfo.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/PSX_20190620_141858.jpg It was further gathered that the suicide victim, lived with his sister during his service year, as confirmed by Jeffery Josboy Daniel, a member of our facebook group. The Public Relations Officer of NYSC in the state, Mrs Christy Olatoye, confirmed the incident, praying that “God protects our youths from the rampant cases of suicide.” The remains of the young man are to be taken to Benue State later this week for burial. He was said to have been posted to Oyo State with the code number OY/18B/2337. JOS/2018/055264. https://i0.wp.com/nyscinfo.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/20190616_221512.png The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has sworn in the 2019 Batch B Stream 1 PCMs into the National service as bona fide corps members. MESSAGE OF THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL TO THE 2019 BATCH 'B' STREAM ONE CORPS MEMBERS Dear Compatriots in National Service I feel highly gratified to address you as you commence another phase in your lives as members of the National Youth Service Corps, an elite Scheme that parades a pool of enlightened and sophisticated class of Nigerian youths, pulled together from diverse socio-cultural and religious backgrounds, with a united purpose of building a strong, indivisible and egalitarian entity. On behalf of NYSC family, I most heartily welcome you aboard the ship of nation building. At this juncture, it will be most appropriate to congratulate you on the success that you achieved in your various qualifying examinations which gave you the ticket to be called up by the Nation for service. The success, no doubt, was borne out of hard work, perseverance, discipline and focus. It is my earnest expectation that you will bring these sterling qualities to bear in the course of the twelve-month mandatory service to your fatherland. The National Youth Service Corps has four cardinal programmes which every Corps Member must successfully pass through to qualify for demobilization at the end of twelve months. The first is Orientation Course, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service also known as Secondary Assignment and Winding Up/Passing-Out Ceremony. As the name connotes, Orientation programme is designed to equip Corps Members adequately for the task of nation building, the challenges that lie within and ahead of the Service Year. Primarily, the course contents involve skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme, training in physical fitness; series of lectures, social activities, games and sports - all geared towards imbuing you with the spirit of discipline and patriotism, and getting you prepared for the leadership roles that you will assume in future in the polity. In the three weeks that you will be encamped, there will be observance of strict regimentation in all your activities. Therefore, you will not have absolute freedom as that will be curtailed. You are expected to conform to the rules and regulations guiding the Orientation camp. On this premise my dear children, I charge you to ensure active participation in all the camp activities, I am equally encouraging you to join the different camp committees such as Social, Sports, Cultural, Security and Sanitation Committees among others, so as to be fully involved and abreast with camp administration. Quite tellingly, membership of these Committes is a sure way of learning the rudiments of leadership and administration, a rare opportunity I have no doubt you will grab with both hands. At the end of the Service Year, deserving Corps Members will be bestowed with some awards in the form of Chairman's Award, State Honours Award and the highest - NYSC President's Honours Award. Details of these recognitions shall be unveiled to you by the State Coordinator. However, it is pertinent to state that grading of recipients starts from the camp which makes it incumbent on you to distinguish yourself in whatever role that shall be assigned you in the course of the Orientation programme and indeed the other cardinal points of the Scheme which I had earlier enumerated. Dear patriotic Corps Members, NYSC in the last few years recorded a paradigm shift in the Orientation course content, aligning it with the prevailing security and economic realities. The precarious state of national security and shrinkage of white collar jobs made this phenomenal change germane and very compelling. This shift witnessed the introduction of Martial Arts training into the course content so as to equip Corps Members with basic self defense skills. It will be wise to take this training seriously in order to enhance your personal security. That notwithstanding, the Scheme is always in constant touch with the various security agencies to ensure that your security is not compromised. A corollary to the above is the issue of financial security. It is quite worrisome to note that a lot of ex-Corps Members who got demobilized from service as far as ten years back are yet to be gainfully employed. This sorry state of affairs has brought about despondency and dejection on the part of some serving Corps Members. It equally fans the embers of criminality and depravity such as robbery, advance fee fraud, prostitution, drug peddling and abuse to mention but a few. In an attempt to stem this tide, the Scheme introduced Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme into the Orientation course content. Prior to this intervention, the Scheme had been in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as well as Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on MDGs, now SDGs. These collaborations bordered on impartation of entrepreneurial skills to Corps Members for self reliance. NYSC is desirous of raising a crop of youths that will be employers of labour, rather than an army of restive job seekers, trudging the streets of Nigeria in search of scarcely available white collar jobs. My dear virile youths, your sojourn in the ship of nation building is a life-time opportunity, I implore you to utilize it maximally. Some of your predecessors who heeded this counsel are today business owners, doing very well in their various businesses and contributing positively to the growth of Nigerian economy. At the end of the three-week programme, you will be posted to all the nooks and crannies of the state to commence the second, third and final phases of the service. Posting to areas of primary assignment will be to four key sectors; Education, Health, Agriculture and Rural Infrastructure. For those of you seeking for relocation on the basis of marriage or serious health challenge, I want to assure you that each case will be treated based on its merit. My dear youths, the Nation that has called you up for service expects so much from you and you must never disappoint the people of Nigeria. The motto of NYSC remains: Service and Humility. Let this be your guiding principle all through the duration of the programme. I charge you to love and coexist harmoniously with members of your host community. As much as possible, try and make positive impact in the community by leaving it better than you met it. Get integrated into the community - learning the language and culture of the people, knowing their norms and avoiding their taboos. Please, never get involved in their local politics or show partisanship in national politics. Involvement in partisan politics is only permissible after your demobilization from service. I hasten to add that you should avoid embarking on frivolous journeys whether within or outside the state. Many have gone through such gratuitous journeys thereby putting their families in grief. If there is need for you to travel outside the state, permission must be obtained from the State Coordinator, using the right channel. This also will be explained to you in detail by the State Coordinator. Remember, the Nation and your family need you alive to complete the service. Finally, I welcome you once again aboard the ship of nation building. As you sail for the next twelve calendar months, you are wished a resoundingly successful voyage. God bless you. So many PCMs are intentionally skipping the 2019 Batch B Stream one orientation camp exercise starting today, 18th June 2019 for one reason or the other. Some are afraid of where they’re posted to, and hoping to join the 2019 Batch B stream 2, because, they’re not yet prepared to face it. The rest are still occupied and will not be able to make it to camp at the moment in time. For whatever reason you’d have not to join the stream one today, Nyscinfo.com is telling you not to worry, you’ll successfully join the stream two if you so desire to. Whether you’ve printed your call-up letter or not and never wanted to join the stream one again, you shouldn’t worry, the printing won’t affect you. The only way to be ELIGIBLE to join the stream 2 is for you to easily re-print your call-up letter as soon as stream 2 starts printing theirs and you’re good to go. About your current state of deployment changing, it’s not static. It may change or may not change. Don’t listen to anyone talking about revalidation, because, there’s no need for revalidation, NYSC only offers remobilization and revalidation between batches and not streams. The date for stream 2 orientation camp exercise is still from Tuesday, 16th July to Monday, 5th August, 2019. Be properly guided. -Comrade Nnadi Goodluck Donhacklord- Source- https://nyscinfo.com/what-to-do-if-you-skip-2019-batch-b-stream-1-to-join-stream-2/ CC: Lalasticlala Mynd44 Yokiti Ogbeche77 Crazyman Dominique |

Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, Shuaibu Ibrahim, has said the scheme will communicate to corps members when the payment of N30,000 new allowance would take off. The DG stated this on Friday at a workshop/training on Freedom of Information Act for Desk Officers of the NYSC in Abuja. When he was asked when the payment of N30,000 allowance for corps members would take-off, the DG said: “They will be communicated accordingly, please.” The DG said the workshop is aimed at consolidating on the successes recorded by the scheme regarding the use of the FOIA. Ibrahim said that the scheme had grappled with challenges, which were occasioned by “apparent lack of knowledge of our policies and operations by a section of the public.” He urged Nigerians to familiarise themselves with the NYSC Act so as to understand better, the operations of the scheme and its role. Ibrahim said: “Since the enactment of the Freedom of Information Act in 2011, the NYSC has been in the forefront of ensuring total compliance with the provisions of the Act.” The NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, noted that the scheme had FOI community development service groups for corps members who assist in sensitising members of the public on the FOI Act. The Assistant Secretary, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Damagum branch, Samaila Isa thanked the corps member for initiating “the long awaited project“ in the area. “We have been looking for this project for quite a long time from the government or non-governmental organisation. Please note that for you to be eligible to receive this allowance in the states that pay, you must be serving in a public establishment. Those serving in private establishments can also be paid, only with negotiations with their employer. 1. ANAMBRA: This state is the highest paying state in Nigeria, they pay ₦8,500 monthly to corpers serving in public establishments as explained above. 2. AKWA IBOM: This state is paying ₦5,000 monthly to corps members deployed to their state. 3. JIGAWA: This state pays ₦5,000 monthly. 4. DELTA: This state pays ₦5,000 monthly. 5. ZAMFARA: This state pays ₦5,000 monthly. 6. NASARAWA: This state currently pay ₦5,000 monthly via table payment. 7. BAYELSA: This state pays ₦3,000 every month to those in town and ₦5,000 to those close to water. 8. OSUN: This state pays ₦5,000 monthly. They receive ₦20,000 every four months. The last time they received such allowance was in February 2019. But, the 2018 Batch C Stream 1 and 2 has not received any dime from the state government. Written by Comrade Nnadi Goodluck Donhacklord for nyscinfo.com 9. KATSINA: This state pays ₦4,000 monthly. 10. OYO: This state pays ₦4,000 monthly and it's very regular. 11. SOKOTO: This state pays ₦3,750 monthly, but you'll only be able to receive it at the end of your service year. A total of ₦45,000 will be paid. 12. ENUGU: This state pays ₦1,000 every month to corpers in the town (Enugu North, Enugu East, Enugu South) and ₦3,500 to those serving in villages. 13. KEBBI: This state pays ₦2,000 monthly. 14. LAGOS: This state pays allowance to the first 100 lucky corpers to be registered; i.e ₦15,000 monthly to some lucky ones serving in public schools and ₦10,000 monthly to some lucky ones serving in the secretariat. To be eligible to be among the 100 lucky corpers, immediately you're given your ppa letter, rush to Alausa Secretariat, at the ministry of special duties to have your number, cause it's slot and it's strictly on first to come, first to serve basis. You might be wondering why we didn't say that Lagos state is the highest state, it's because they don't pay allowance to all the corps members deployed to their state, unlike Anambra state that pays everyone serving in public establishments. 15. TARABA: This state pays ₦6,000 monthly, they select some few NYSC corps members serving in public establishments in their state and pay them. They started paying from December 2018. 16. ADAMAWA: This state pays ₦20,000 to NYSC corps members deployed to their state during POP. 17. EBONYI: The state government paid NYSC corps members deployed to their state ₦9,757 from October 2018 - February 2019, but since then, they've never received a dime. Most people are saying that the all of sudden state allowance was politically motivated, because, the state governor stopped paying immediately he was re-elected for second term in office. 18. ABUJA: The FCT does not pay corps members any allowance, even thou, it's the capital of the country. But, it's easier to earn money in Abuja, since there are lot's of big companies that you can serve in and those big companies pay huge amount of allowances to the corps members serving there. 19. KWARA, BAUCHI, KOGI, NIGER, KADUNA, EKITI, PLATEAU, RIVERS, BENUE, KANO, IMO, ONDO, OGUN, YOBE, CROSS RIVER, BORNO, ABIA, GOMBE and EDO do not pay anything to corps members deployed to their states.
