But what about paying before delivery and then one rubbish that is different from what was advertised is delivered to you? Then you complain and seek a refund but it takes eternity. Because the company has your money, they feel they have the luxury of doing shakara for you. These are the fears many Nigerians have, and these are very valid fears.

Valid fears, I agree, however the big guys (Jumia and Konga) take these issues seriously, refunds or replacements are guaranteed withing 7 days Except the customer's claims are not valid.


As long as these kinds of issues remain rife, then pay before delivery would never work. Simple.

It's just like how you try to withdraw your money at an ATM, you're debited, but the money doesn't come out. And then it takes weeks or even months in some cases to get your money back. That's a bitter experience that nobody can tolerate. So yeah, it's really a two way thing. A systemic problem in Nigeria where nothing works.
