Weah96: The OT, which coincides with the Jewish Torah, says absolutely nothing about any virgin giving birth to their messiah. Show me a verse in Jewish scriptures, or the old testament, where Yahweh promised to send himself as messiah. Or where the messiah would be born of a virgin.

Note, the bible is not a story book. and messages are not passed like your reader Edet lives in calabar.

King David is the
man after God's heart and God made a
promise to him. CHRONICLE 17:11-14
11 And it shall come to pass, when thy
days be expired that thou must go to be
with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed
after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I
will establish his kingdom.
12 He shall build me an house, and I will
stablish his throne for ever.
13 I will be his father, and he shall be my
son: and I will not take my mercy away
from him, as I took it from him that was
before thee:
14 But I will settle him in mine house and in
my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall
be established for evermore.

and this God fulfilled by sending Jesus whoes lineage could be traced back to David through Mary. for more information go to this thread

OLAADEGBU: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour, for He has been mindful of the humble state of His servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me — holy is His name" (Luke 1:46-49).

This is the prayer Mary prayed. She said God my Saviour, meaning that she was a sinner saved by God. Do you see why we are not to worship her?

it is so shameful of u still saying Catholics worship her after u have been told several time that Catholics don't worship her, sorry o is ur IQ dis low.

so if u are being told that God will allow his son to have the flesh and blood of a sinner u will agree. see where lack of knowledge is dragging u into. even Muslims knows that Mary was born without the touch of satan. shame on u.

Mention in Islamic scripture

The birth of Mary is narrated in the Quran
with references to her father, after whom
the chapter is named ('The Family of
Imran') as well as her mother. The wife of
Imran prayed to God to fulfil her desire [8]
and vowed, if her prayer was accepted,
that her child would be dedicated to the
service of God. She prayed for her child to
remain protected from Satan ( Shayṭān) and
Muslim tradition records a hadith , which
states that the only children born without
the "touch of Satan," were Mary and Jesus.

Your innocence is just making me to laugh.
in what ways are you honoring mary if i may ask?

funny one though. we honour her by loving and accepting her as the mother of our lord Jesus Christ and not as a mere vessel like many protestant will say.

for more read this.

Why do
Catholics Honor
& Love Mary ?

A1. She brought the Savior into the
World.
Mary said Yes! In Luke 1:26-35 The Angel
Gabriel appeared to the young Mary and
said that she would conceive a child and
he will be called “The Son of the Most
High.” Now Mary has free will, like all of
us, she could have said no. She could
have said find someone else, but what did
she say? In Luke 1:38 Mary answered
“Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord;
let it be to me according to your word.”
By her consent, by her free will Mary
united her will to the will of the Father
and brought the salvation of the human
race into the world in the person of Jesus
Christ. Think about it, without Jesus
Christ there would be no salvation for
mankind. Mary carried the God-Man, the
creator of time and space himself in her
womb. She agreed to provide him with
flesh and blood, carried him for 9 months
and nurtured him throughout his life.

A2. “Hail, full of Grace, the Lord is
with you!”

When the Angel Gabriel came to Mary
she was greeted with a royal greeting.
Luke 1:28 recounts Gabriel greeting Mary
by proclaiming “Hail, full of Grace, the
Lord is with you!” The Greek word for
Hail that is used here is a word that is
used to address royalty. Think of it, an
Angel, a being far superior to a human,
greeting a young girl with such respect
and awe; in other cases when an angel
approaches a human this is not the case.
This would imply that Mary is no normal
human being; God created her and
prepared her to carry his son, to be a
living tabernacle of the Lord.
“Full of Grace”, this is said by Gabriel to
Mary in Luke 1:38 before she even said
yes to be the Mother of God. This would
imply that she was full of Grace (God’s
own life and love) even before she had
Jesus in her womb. Like the pure and
untouchable Ark of the Covenant in the
Old Testament that held symbols of God,
Mary was made pure and full of grace in
order to hold the Word of God made
flesh, Jesus Christ
Mary was even given the grace she
needed for the encounter with the Angel
Gabriel. In Revelation 19 and 22 when an
Angel appears to John, he is confused and
mistakes him for God and begins to
worship him. When Gabriel appears to
Mary in Luke 1 something very different
happens. Mary has the grace to recognize
that this Angel isn’t God and Gabriel
acknowledges that Mary isn’t just some
ordinary girl but a girl that has been
prepared by God from her conception to
be the Mother of the God-Man, Jesus
Christ.

A3. “Blessed among women”

After the Angel Gabriel left Mary she
went to see her cousin Elizabeth who in
her old age was pregnant with John the
Baptist. In Luke 1:41 after Mary greeted
Elizabeth, Elizabeth was filled with the
Holy Spirit and John the Baptist leaped in
her womb in joy at the sound of Mary’s
voice. The Holy Spirit talking through
Elizabeth said to Mary “Blessed are you
among women, and blessed is the fruit of
your womb!” Wow, the third person of
the blessed Trinity inspired Elizabeth to
deem Mary blessed amongst all women;
Mary isn’t just some ordinary woman.
These words of the Holy Spirit talking
through Elizabeth make up the middle of
the Hail Mary “blessed are you amongst
women and blessed is the fruit of they
womb, Jesus”

A4. She is the Mother of the Lord

Jesus wasn’t created, as the Nicene Creed
proclaims “He was begotten, not made,
one in being with the Father, through
him all things were made.” So how is
Mary, a creation of God, the mother of
God? This answer is intertwined with the
mystery of the Trinity and the
Incarnation. The Father, Son and Holy
Spirit are of the same substance but are
unique. The 2nd person of the trinity,
Jesus Christ, entered time and space and
took on Mary’s flesh in the incarnation;
when this happened Mary became the
mother of Jesus. Since Mary is the mother
of Jesus that makes her the mother of
God. Mary is not the mother of the
trinity, she did not exist before the
trinity; she is the mother of the 2nd
person of the trinity in the flesh, Jesus
Christ.
Many protestant Christians today say that
Mary was not the mother of God but just
the mother of Jesus. If Mary is not the
mother of God but just the mother of
Jesus then this assumes that Jesus is not
God. This ideology reapeats a 1600 year
old heresy that was disputed and resolved
at the Council of Ephesus in 431AD. The
heretic Nestorius claimed that Jesus Christ
wasn’t divine and that Mary should be
called the Christotokos (Christ bearer)
instead of the Theotokos (God-bearer)
since Jesus isn’t God. The Church at this
council reaffirmed that Jesus is divine
and since he is divine that makes Mary
the Mother of God so rightfully so she
was to be called the Theotokos, God-
bearer.

A5. My soul magnifies the Lord, my
spirit rejoices in God my Savior”

After Elizabeth declares that Mary is
blessed amongst women, Mary sings what
is known as the Canticle of Mary (Luke
1:46-55). In verse 46 Mary sings that her
soul magnifies the Lord. Think about
that. The beauty and purity of Mary’s
soul magnifies or intensifies the presence
of the Lord. It has been said that Jesus is
like the sun; the source of light and Mary
is like the moon, reflecting that light of
God. Mary is not just a vessel that held
Christ, Mary’s body and soul was created
particularly by God to be a living
tabernacle of the Word of God, Jesus
Christ. To say that Mary was just a mere
vessel is undermining that majesty of God
by undermining the greatness of his
creation.
Mary then says in verse 47 that her
“spirit rejoices in God my savior” Mary is
rejoicing in God because he has created
her and destined her to the Mother of his
Son. God has granted Mary particular
graces that no other human has….the
graces needed to be the Mother of God.
The Catholic’s honor and love for Mary
reflects the deep love of God who made
her who she is.

A6. The Blessed Mother

In Luke 1:48 Mary proclaims that “All
generations will call me blessed..” God
created Mary as such a pure, graced filled
creation that from then on until all
eternity she will be called blessed. This is
where Catholics get the title of “The
Blessed Mother”; it’s straight out of the
Bible.

A7. She is the Mother of Humanity

Mary was chosen to be the mother of
Jesus but she is also our Mother. In John
19:26-27 when Jesus is on the Cross he
looks at his mother and says “Woman,
behold your son!” and then he looks at
John and says “Behold, your mother!”
Since early in the history of the Church
this has been interpreted as Jesus
extending Mary’s motherhood to all of
humanity. This can be better understood
in relation to the Father and the Son.
God the Father has one son, Jesus Christ,
but by extension of our baptism Jesus’
son ship is extended to all Christians so
we truly become sons and daughters of
God. In a similar yet different situation
by Jesus’ words on the cross Mary’s
Motherhood is extended to all of us.
Although Mary is human and the Father
is divine we have a mother in heaven
who loves and prays for us.

A8. She suffered with Christ

Mary suffered with Jesus as only a
mother could when seeing her child being
mocked, humiliated, beaten and put to
death in the most demeaning form of the
day. Mary’s suffering was foreshadowed
by Simeon when he said to her after she
presented the baby Jesus in the temple
“Behold, this child is destined for the fall
and rise of many in Israel, and to be a
sign that will be contradicted (and you
yourself a sword will pierce) so that the
thoughts of many hearts may be
revealed.” (Luke 1:34-35).
Mary is considered a co-redeemer with
Christ due to the most personal role she
played in salvation history by saying yes
to taking on the role of the Mother of
God and accepting all the joy and
suffering which came with that. In fact
every baptized Christian is called to offer
up their suffering with that of Christ for
the salvation of souls. Paul supports this
in Colossians 1:24 where he writes “Now
I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake,
and in my flesh I am filling up what is
lacking in the afflictions of Christ on
behalf of his body, which is the church.”
Since we are members of the Body of
Christ we share in the life and mission of
Christ. Mary has a particularly important
share in this due to her unique and
intimate role as the Mother of God.

Even though Jesus did what Mary said but this was not after He had somewhat rebuked her by saying that His mission was not to do temporary ephemeral things but to save His people from their sins. Apart from this place, Mary is never shown in Scripture to demand or request anything from Jesus.

this is too lame, my bro u still have not made any clear point.

well u have made up ur mind not to honour her,my bro it's ur headache o, but for me I will honour her and be glad like Elizabeth that said in
Luke 1:39-45 New International
Version (NIV)
Mary Visits Elizabeth
At that time Mary got ready and
hurried to a town in the hill country
of Judea, where she entered
Zechariah’s home and greeted
Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard
Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in
her womb, and Elizabeth was filled
with the Holy Spirit. In a loud
voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are
you among women, and blessed is
the child you will bear! But why
am I so favored, that the mother of
my Lord should come to me? As
soon as the sound of your greeting
reached my ears, the baby in my
womb leaped for joy. Blessed is
she who has believed that the Lord
would fulfill his promises to her!”

Note this

Elizabeth was filled
with the Holy Spirit. In a loud
voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are
you among women, and blessed is
the child you will bear! But why
am I so favored, that the mother of
my Lord should come to me?

and I say why am I so favored to love and cherish the mother of my lord. oh thank you JESUS.

Do not be nescient. If you had read and understood the OP you would have realised the point given in the excerpt below:

u have made no point, the Op talks about mediate which I have shown u the meaning.

this where Mary interceded in the bible,
john 2:1-8 and this is also known as the first miracle of Christ.

On the third day a wedding took
place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’
mother was there, and Jesus and
his disciples had also been invited
to the wedding. When the wine
was gone, Jesus’ mother said to
him, “They have no more wine.”
“Woman, why do you involve
me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has
not yet come.”
His mother said to the servants,
“Do whatever he tells you.”
Nearby stood six stone water jars,
the kind used by the Jews for
ceremonial washing, each holding
from twenty to thirty gallons.
Jesus said to the servants, “Fill
the jars with water”; so they filled
them to the brim.
Then he told them, “Now draw
some out and take it to the master
of the banquet.”

I repeat Mary do not mediate she intercede pls don't miss the words. that part of Luke u quoted she also said " Henceforth, all generations shall call me blessed.

What does the Bible say?

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5).

I know you have a problem understanding English language.

catholic says Mary intercede for them and u are missing it up with mediator. yes Christ is the only mediator between God and man. but Mary intercede,i.e plead on our behalf.

dictionary meaning of mediator and intercede

To intercede is to go or come between two
parties, to plead before one of them on behalf
of the other. "Mediation"
means a standing in the midst between two
(contending) parties, for the purpose of
bringing them together.

The deeper truth about not worshipping or bowing down for graven image, mortal or a dead person.

That God is a jealous God

that Mary already got her reward on earth for being the path the Saviour came through

That God does not share his glory with mere mortal, if he had issues sharing his glory with Lucifer, who then is mary?

Lastly, that the images catholics worship are that of pagan gods and can be termed idol worshipping..

find out the truth about these images, who they really are and why they were shipped into catholism.

That you should not just sit and swallow what you are told when it comes to spiritual things, go out there, explore, read wide, compare and contrast, pray real prayers, ask God through his Son Jesus and not mary to show you the truth, invite the holy spirit into your heart for interpretation.

These are my points.

So the Berom christians that always went home to compare and contrast Paul's teachings were doing wrong by studying the bible personally? hehehe, brother being spoonfed in Christianity is the lowest low in spiritual growth. this is why it's hard for you to actually discern the truth from the untruth.

When you say personal interpretation is wrong, then I shiver at your understanding of the word of God.. it's the spirit of God that gives understanding and there is a difference between carnal understanding and the one given by the Holy Spirit.

deeper truth comes when you study the word of God with the help of the holy spirit.

what exactly do you think the holy spirit is there for? those you line behind, where did their interpretation come from? was it not also through personal studies?

Bro, seek the truth so you shall know the truth.

Lastly, Jesus used woman multiple times to address Mary not because of Gen 3:15, he also used son of man multiple times for himself, was Jesus also son of man when SCRIPTURES says he came into Mary's womb via the holy spirit and not through any man.

The word of God should not be interpreted carnally bro, it has deeper meaning, make use of the holy spirit, ask and also read wide, not just within your catholic box, read outside your catholic box, you just might find out the deeper truth.

May God show you the light and understanding

make use of the holy spirit, ask and also read wide, not just within your catholic box, read outside your catholic box, you just might find out the deeper truth.
the deeper truth dat Mary should not be hornored or that Catholics don't worship christ.

Austindark: Pope Francis has suggested that he might one
day resign the papacy like his predecessor,
Pope Benedict XVI did last year, which would
make him the second consecutive Pope to do
so after almost 600 years. He said this
on Aug. 18th while speaking with
reporters on his way back to Rome after his
state visit to South Korea.
Asked about his immense popularity, the
Pope, 77, joked that he would probably die in
the next 2/3 years so should not get too
proud:

“Some theologians may say this
is not right, but I think this
way. Let us think about what
[Benedict XVI] said, “I have
gotten old, I do not have the
strength”, it was a beautiful
gesture of nobility, of humility
and courage. But you could say
to me, if you at some time felt
you could not go forward, I
would do the same.”

“I know this will last a short
time, two or three years, and
then to the house of the
Father.” francis said

If God would have wanted u 2 honour ur so-called moda of God, it should be written in d Bible clearly 4 every1 2 see nd practice, bt as 4 CATHOLICS,,, I jus dnt knw wat 2 say....

Pls stop living on d illusion dat u're honouring mary, u r purely worshipping d her.

Btw i am an ex-catholic, a very devouted block rosarian at dat, so u cant tell me anything abt d catholic faith.

so bowing means worship now. so Pple who bow to their fellow man worship them. see my brother you might be an ex-catholic and a block rosarian does not mean you understand it's teaches u know. no be every body we go school come back with knowledge u know. same might have happened to you.

look at you, now u are angry because he called your mother into this wht more of Christ.

any way this is not wht this thread is meant for.
