sinkhole:
Flags are symbols and as such dont have to be "cloth of many colours". Many countries have similar flag as Nigeria and it makes meaning to them.
If you are looking for beauty and complexity then check our coat of arm!
Ugly coat of arms.

Some nairalanders don't know the effect of Nigeria disintegration. Big companies that has investment in Nigeria like Uniliver,Mtn,spdc etc.would not want Nigeria to breakup because they are the stakeholders. I don't blame this Biafra freedom fighters it all boils down to unemployment.
So if they are unemployed why would they care about Unilever?

Has GEJ ever come out and described himself as a "bonafide Igbo man" or described Otuoke as Igbo land?

The Director of Legal Services, Niger Delta Human and Environmental, Rescue Organization (ND-HERO) and the President of the Ikwerre Youths,Barrister Okwukwu (2000) on this issue explains,

"Well the truth is that because the greater Igbo nation lost the
Nigerian civil war and if you must be a true Nigerian back then, you
must be anti-Igbo. That entered the psyche of all Igbos (sic)
everywhere ... The truth is that the Ikwerre people are part and
parcel of the greater Igbo nation and they share a lot in common

"It is morally wrong for any anybody to say that Igbo cluster should produce the next governor in 2015. I am an Igbo man also, by virtue of my origin, and so I am not against the Ikwerre people or against the Igbo. I repeat, I am an Igbo man; I can narrow it down: I have Ikwerre blood flowing in my veins."

"As far as we all know, there are three ethnic clusters in Rivers State: the Ijaws, the Igbos (Ikwerre is part of the Igbo cluster) and the Ogonis. After Bayelsa was excised from Rivers State, the Igbos have ruled for many years. Odili was an Idoni Igbo; he ruled for eight years. Omehia/Amaechi, who are also Ikwerres, by 2015 would have ruled for more than eight years, making over 16 years"

because he needs their votes...don't sound like u dnt know political theatrics..

Amaechi was called an Osun state indigene by politicians in Rivers sometime last year..things like dat makes politics look dirty-clean. grin
So an Ikwerre person will forget their "hard fought battles" to be "independent" for a vote? He called himself a 'bona-fide Igbo man' because of his name and where he comes from and nobody rebutted him, but jokers like you will come and say the Igbo names and origin have no bearing on their ethnicity. Even Dokubo said he is Igbo via Ikwerre ancestry and many Ijaw see the rulership of Odili (Ndoni) Amaechi and co as Igbo hegemony meaning "Rivers people" see Ikwerre as Igbo, everybody sees Ikwerre as Igbo apart from Ikwerre according to you, except for the fact that a high ranking Ikwerre man called himself a 'bona-fide Igbo man', something an Ijaw or Ogoni would never do even with all the Igbo they may be able to speak.

Simply keep joking.
PoliticsRe: My Trip To The Proposed Seaport Site In Abia State by NnaXmas: 11:56am On Dec 10, 2015
omonnakoda:
Before people talk rubbish about dredging the Niger River they must understand its geography and politics. The water in the Niger is fresh water not sea water. It has its origin in Guinea and passes through several countries before reaching Nigeria. Nigeria does not own the River Niger

When Nigeria decided to dam the Niger in the 60s we had to extract a concession from Niger that they too will not dam. In fact it is possible that if any of the countries upstream dams there will be No River Niger entering Nigeria at all or just a stream. We would do well to study what is going on with the Nile currently being dammed in Ethiopia for a 6000MW plant a project that made some countries to threaten military action. So to a large extent whether the River Niger is in existence in 100 years time does not lie entirely in Nigerian hands
Even an independent Biafra will not be allowed to dredge

From the environmental impact perspective ,dredging hundred miles upstream through Rivers state and Delta state will expose these delta states to flooding of unpredictable dimensions. 2012 flooding is still fresh in our minds

They are expected to keep still and silent for the appeasement of Ibo interests.Hmm

The final issue is that of precedent. If it is acceptable to dredge up to Abia why not dredge to Lokoja Jebba Niger Republic or all the way up to Guinea or are the people of Kogi and Kwara spectators. When people become so blinded by what they think is good for them that they forget that there are sundry competing and conflicting interests in the River Niger then all they think is dredge dredge dredge.
Dredging is not logical. What needs to happen is to enhance the sea access in Rivers,Delta,Ondo,Akwa Ibom and Cross River States. These all have problems compared to Lagos but can be fixed with capital . The dredging idea is a crazy one just like the endless prospecting for oil in the North
This actually makes sense.

Same Amaechi that asked "are we biafrans"..all Na politics nau..if i wanted to contest presidential election 2mao, i will come to Enugu and speak flawless Igbo...but if you come to an Ikwerre meeting and say "Igbo Kwenu", you go chop hot slap.
What does Biafra have to do with this? Have you seen any south east politician that has openly supported Biafra? So will you go to Enugu and call yourself Igbo since you're supposedly Ikwerre?

Why would a high ranking Ikwerre person that has nothing to gain from being called Igbo identify himself as Igbo despite Ikwerre people "fighting hard to be a distinct ethnic group" as you've suggested?

You don't want to start this one oh!
