On the new immigrant struggle;
Before moving I already set my mind on doing survival jobs knowing it was going to take quite a while before getting licensed in my profession. What I was not prepared for was the struggle in getting a menial job, and no! I wasn't doing anything wrong. For a full month I was only able to get 2-days job through an agency ( I registered in ALL i could find), finally what seemed like a breakthrough came during the last week of another month. I was sent to this warehouse for a seasonal job, the work was damn excruciating, but I didn't mind. I found out from another temp who was a regular at the company that the job would last for 6 months, I was happy I found something doing. Just 2 weeks after, the agency left a voicemail they got another job for me, lol! I already knew what that meant. I don't know if it's supposed to be painful, but I was hurt momentarily.
The downside of everything was the website of my profession was updated a week before I landed of which I wasn't aware of, and the new changes makes it almost impossible for foreign trained graduates to practice. I never considered a post graduate program in my field because it was not going to be helpful. I have other options to explore and by God's grace will succeed.

Thank you for sharing this with us. I pray it ends in praise for you. If you don't mind me asking, what is your profession and what changes was made regarding practicing in your province?

Please if I want to apply for police certificate, do I use my current passport number or the old one that has the country's visa stamped on it? I have also changed my surname due to marriage since i left the country so do i use my maiden name in the application or my current name?
