He stylishly crossed his legs over and whinced in pain as he had to subject his monster to a tight position. The monster continued to nod its way forward making him uncomfortable. "Ehmmmm! I'm Inspector Timi and i got into the force when i was seven".
"Huh?"
"No! I got into the force when i was 10! as you can see, i am a full blown bachelor even at my age. I'm looking for a potential lady, a lady with timber and caliber, you know the kind of timber i mean right?" He sized Lydia with his eyes and smacked his lips. He scrutinized the ladies critically and continually nodded his head. He actually made a mental comparison of all the ladies.
"Inspector! What do you think you are doing ?" Praise snapped.
"What do you think I'm doing?" He asked in the same vein.
"I doubt you came here to stare at us all day" Veronica eyed him.
"I tender my sincere apologies for the break in transmission. Of the truth I've never been in the midst of pretty ladies in my life, can you believe that I'm a virgin at 42?".
"God forbid" Praise snapped.
"What will God forbid?" Timi fired at her.
"So why are you telling us?" Lydia said, staring at him circumspectly.
"I think that I'm cursed" Timi said thoughtfully.
"Then go see a pastor!" Lydia snapped at him.
"Can you recommend one for me?" Timi said.
"Just google! I beleive you'll find one" Praise said and made for the door.
"Ehmmm, come back let's move into serious business!" Timi made a light cough and sat erect.
Praise sighed and moved relunctantly to her seat.
"Let's observe a moment of silence , this moment is dedicated to all the beautiful ladies across the globe!" Timi said.
"Huh?"
"Don't argue!" Timi deadpanned.
Silence!!!!
"Let's pray!" Timi said.
"Officer!" Praise protested.
"Ok, I'm sorry, please let's meditate on the lord's prayer! Please pay great attention to the verse that says 'deliver us not into temptations' because i can feel temptation looming around" Timi said. He had a presage.
The ladies felt preposterous.
"Officer I'll just leave here" Praise muttered.
"I am with a gun and I'll send a bullet to your sacred region!".
"Which is?" Praise stiffened.
"Never mind! before we proceed, I'm inspector Timi from Ekiti State. But don't be offended, i have a question for all of you and i expect detailed and comprehensive answers". He said and tilted forward.
"Why are girls expert in the act of seduction?".
"Huh?"
"Which part are you 'huhing' i said and i repeat why...".
"Officer, is this part of the investigation?" Veronica cut him short.
"No, it is part of the catisvestigation!" Timi fired.
"Hmmmmm!".
"Officer i can't answer such question!" Lydia said and crossed her legs.
"Please switch on the fan, there is power supply" Lydia beckoned at Praise.
"Yes I'm waiting for the answer!" Timi said.
The fan roared in a high speed and soon parted the light material which Lydia wore. Timi stylishly lowered his gaze and it settled on Lydia's busty laps. He traced further and he had a little view of her panties.
"The lord is my sherphed, i shall not want!" He muttered with the sign of the cross. He tilted a bit and scrutinised again. He traced the path and this time, the vision was clear.
His eyes almost popped out from his socket. The impact of the fan shifted the material again and this time, the vision was clearer. His brain immediately switched off.
The girls chuckled. "I held you in high respect! Who even made you an inspector sef!" Lydia deadpanned.
"Hey watch your tongue, i do my investigation in a different way" Timi said, even with the fan he perspired real hard.
His concupiscence was obvious in his demeanor.
"Please i wish to ask for a favour ?" Timi breathed still struggling with the emotional torture.
"Ask?"
"It is not a favour but an order! I want to question each of you privately" Timi said and retrieved his notepad.
The ladies regarded his order for a while.
"But make sure nothing sinister happens!" Lydia said and made to leave.
Hey! Come back, you are my first victim" Timi beckoned on Lydia.
"Victim?"
"Yes! the rest should please hang around" Timi said.

"I need a bottle of chilled water, I've been talking for over an hour now" Timi demanded.
He was served, he took a gulp and sighed in relief.
"Have you ever tried to imagine the world without water?" He asked.
"No, and if the world was without water our system would have been programmed to survive without water" Lydia breathed.
"Happy new year!" Timi waved.
"Huh?"
"Happy...."
"In the middle of a conversation!" Lydia gasped.
"Do you mean that I'm stupid?" Timi asked.
"No one said so!" Lydia sniggered.
"You ladies are joking with me, you are trying to play on my intelligence. Are you aware of the fact that i have singlehandedly brought down hardened criminals. I'm a prodigy in the force and i know my job" Timi rapped.
The door opened on its own accord.
"I told you people to wait outside!" Timi said without looking at the door.
The door was closed.
"Stubborn ladies, so how did you get to know Victoria?" He asked and clicked on his recording device.
A chair dragged itself towards the window.
Timi and Lydia gasped in shock.
"Is the chair computerized?" Timi asked.
"No!"
"Hello dear, sorry for the disturbance!" a voice said.
Timi sensed something sinister and his detective instinct won. "Someone is here with us!" His hands reached out for his gun.
"Easy there man! I mean no harm" the voice said.
Timi pulled out his gun and cocked it.
Lydia gasped in shock. "Sir what's happe......"
"Shhhh" Timi placed his finger on his lips.
He listened carefully and moved towards the bathroom, fingers on the trigger. He peeped and saw no one.
"I know you can hear me, surrender yourself to the police now" Timi roared.
"Officer noone is in except both of us" Lydia screamed in fear.

★Uyo, Akwaibomstate★

Tears and sorrow filled the atmosphere as Victoria's remains was being taken into the morgue.
Her body was discovered by incinerating-officials. Though her body swelled and was filled with well- fed maggot, one of the incinerating officials who had a mad crush on her recognised her and alerted his team members.
Her remains was taken to the police station and after due investigation by the police and the state coroner, the cause of her death was being figured out.
The deceased's mum wept and wept till her tears dried off. She had a sanguinary feeling towards the killer of her only daughter. Her pains was unimaginable.
"Ma, we promise to try our best, we'll nab the killers" Timi offered succor.
"No, that is what you corrupt officers always say" Victoria's mum screamed. Timi was taken aback.
"Ma...i ...we are not corrupt" Timi tried to defend.
"If you are not corrupt then what are you?" Mrs Preye(Vicky's mum screamed).
Inspector Timi clearly understood her situation and was aware of the fact that she was trying to transfer the aggression towards him so he left her quietly.
"Abasi mi oooo My enemies will laugh at me, God you have failed. People will attribute her death to my failure of not being able to raise her well as a single mother. God why!!!" Mrs Preye screamed and threw herself to the ground.
"My only daughter!" She cried, her siblings tried to console but instead her cries accelerated.

"Momma! I'm here with you" a voice said.
Mrs Preye jerked and turned round.
"Adiaha mi" She said in shock pointing at an imaginary creature. She ran forward and made to hug the person she saw, but she fell down.
"Preye, we are all in pains, don't do this to your self" her elder brother moved towards her.
"I saw my daughter" She said and stared around.

Victoria wobbled round the morgue premises in tears, as she stared at her mum in pity.
"Sorry momma" She said.
"Adiaha can you hear your mother, who killed you and why are you not at rest?" Mrs Preye asked.
She was being carried into a waiting van.
"I can't still believe that vicky is gone" Lydia sobbed.
"Yea! It look like a nightmare" Praise whimpered.
"I'm still with you girls and there is nothing to fear" a voice said.
"Vicky!" Veronica gasped. "I just heard her voice in the wind".
"You are scaring me!!!" Praise gasped.
"I know what i heard" Veronica said.
"Something tells me that Vera knows a thing or two concerning Victoria" Lydia said.
"How dare you make such malicious accusation" Veronica gasped.
"Listen to her speeches and her composure, something isn't right somewhere" Lydia argued.
"Composure?? She is just tensed like every one of us" Veronica said.
"I know what I'm saying, Vera's hands are not clean..."
"I strongly believe you know what you've just uttered" Timi interrupted.
The ladies turned in fear towards the inspector.
"Good day sir" they greeted.
"Now you tell me, what is good about today" Timi said staring at them.
"Today is a new year!" Veronica said.
"One of you is missing!" Timi said and regarded them thoughtfully.
"Huh!You mean Vera?" Praise asked.
"Yea, why isn't she here?" Timi folded his hands.
"She is in the hospital" They replied.
"What's the issue this time around?" Timi asked.
"She is kinda having a mental relapse" Praise said and wiped her nose.
"Sorry for the loss, from my investigations the deceased was a very good friend to you people" Timi said.
The tears began flowing again.
Timi breathed "like i said earlier, I'm sorry but I'll be coming over to question each and everyone of you. Your faces looks suspicious!" Timi said with a twisted look.
"You mean our faces looks suspicious?" Lydia asked.
"Somehow, you know somethings which might interest the police"
"I know nothing" Lydia gasped in fear.
"Mellow! I'm not accusing you..."
"Inspector, can i speak with you?" Someone interrupted his speech and Timi turned and sighed.
"Ladies, I'll take my leave expect me tomorrow" Timi said.

"I'm Mr.Ekpenyong, the elder brother to Mrs Preye". The man introduced.
"I'm inspec...."
"No need! I wish to know when my nephew's corpse will be ready for the burial rites" Mr. Ekpenyong said.
"Very soon, when we are done with the investigations." Timi replied.
"How soon, cuz I'm aware of the ineffectiveness of the police in this cases" the man said.
"Excuse me!" Timi gasped.
"I was once in the force, when the real criminals pays you guys..."
"Don't let me do something rash! because you're corrupt doesn't make me same" Timi roared.
"Calm down Inspector, you are not the only person who can do something rash" Mr. Ekpeyong sniggered.
"I'm an Inspector" Timi said and fixed his eyes on the man.
"There is no difference between you guys and yahoo boys, yahoo boys press while the police oppress" Mr.Ekpeyong said. "Make sure you and your yeye boys get those coldblooded killers, who knows who they will kill next, you might be the next" Ekpeyong said and left the stunned Timi.
"Savage!" Timi muttered under his breath.

★Smart lodge★

"I didn't even know when i killed her" Smart said. He was completely befuddled.
"You be baba! If to say i get the kind liver wey you get i for happy!" Philip said and sniffed a pipe of barbiturate.
"I kill am with my bare hands, i be devil and the worst thing be say, dem parambus don discover her corpse" Smart said.
"Guy your life deh much complicated asat now we don cast!" Philip mumbled.
"Ah swear, i don fuckup big time" Smart sighed.
"Why you kill the girl?" Philip asked and coughed lightly.
"The girl na big ass, everly she no deh give me ten yards" Smart said.
"Omoh, we deh equal!" Philip sniggered.
"You say?"
"That your 'Yoruba' na me been down the babe but i come see say she get nine lives" Philip said.

"How many deh?" Philip fired. "You sabi say you deh betray brotherhood and howwoman pussy deh take sweet you?" Philip asked obviously disgusted.
"Philopa, days and days are not the same, i fit the gyrate with non entities today and you fit deh gyrate with non entities tomorrow!" Smart capped.
"Na me been down Vera!" Philip said and watched Smart reaction keenly.
Smart made no visible reaction.
"Ah know say na you do am" Smart replied and clenched his fist.
"And darkness wan see you" Philip added.
"Do you believe in love?" Smart stood.
"What do you mean?" Philip asked.
"I love Vera Paul and there is nothing sugarboys can do, i will protect her" Smart roared.

"How will you be able to protect her when you need protection yourself from the police" a voice said.
The door lock twisted on its own accord.
"Who be dat?" They screamed in alert as they scrambled off from their chairs.
A blurr figure moved round the room.
"Na who get that shadow!" Philip pointed on a shadow formed on the wall.
"Na woman shadow, you no see hips" Smart gasped.
"Woman deh this room?" Philip asked.
"No!"
A chair moved on its own accord.
"Nooo! Blood of angels in heaven, Smart wetin move that chair" Philip recoiled in fear.
"Smart i never knew you smoked! but i have a question for you, why did you kill me?" The voice asked.
Philip retrieved his phone and pointed his flashlight towards the chair. He screamed in shock as he saw a lady sitted on the chair.
He held unto Smart in deep fear.
"Leave me na!" Smart struggled.
"Spirit deh sit down for that chair!" Philip gasped. "You get bible?" Philip asked.
"Wetin you wan carry bible do?" Smart asked, he couldn't comprehend the reason for Philip strange behaviour. Not untill he felt a force tugging at his shirt.
"Jesus, Philip leave my cloth" Smart cried.
"You deh mad! Make thunder fire you, na me deh hold your cloth?" Philip screamed and raced to the door, he tried to open it but couldn't .
"Philip no run leave me na" Smart begged.
"Where your key?" Philip screamed.

"Smart i loved you with all my heart, but you repaid me by killing me" the voice screamed.
Smart struggled with the imaginary figure and was able to free himself. He grabbed the torchlight and switched it on.
He screamed in horror as he saw a naked Victoria in his room.
"Were is my bible?" Smart screamed and grabbed a textbook.
"I stand in the name of Christ Jehovah who is responsible for the occurence, i rebuke you, i receive jerrycan of fuel from heaven, i receive matches, i burn you, die by fire, the God of 'Judasiscarrot' and the God of 'judasismango' is my God" Smart screamed.
"Holyghost come down, fada i know i am a sinner please temper justice with mercy, i prefer to die by bokoharam not ghost, I'm sorry fada" Philip prayed his eyes were closed.
Smart pointed the torch round the room and couldn't see anyone except Philip who was still sweating and struggling with the door lock.
He rushed towards the door but couldn't open it.
Smart shrieked in deep horror when he saw his towel on the mid air 'holding' tight to an imaginary figure.
"See ya towel for air, the thing deh walka" Philip gasped and held the wall for support.
"Vicky abeg na" Smart said and dropped to the floor.

"I came to take my shower" the voice said.
The bathroom door opened on its own accord and the towel dangled to the floor and flipped higher towards a standing pole and remained still.
The sight was too much for Philip to bear, he passed out.
The shower was turned on.
Five minutes later, a blurr figure emerged from the bathroom.
PHCN restored power, and Smart was deeply terrified, he never felt terrified in his life.
The room was brightly illuminated and Smart saw Victoria sitting on his bed, creaming herself.
"Noooo! Vicky don't kill me" Smart muttered.
"Why did you kill me!" The voice roared.
Smart stared confused, he saw her lips moving but couldn't hear the sound.
He urinated on himself as the naked Victoria approached him.
"Do you have any female pant here?"
Smart fainted!!!

"James why my bedsheet deh smell" Okon screamed.
"Na so you give me na!" James defended.
He had made a quick calculation of all the electronics he borrowed and inquired the prices from the owners and it sumed up to a hundred and sixty thousand.
"I been Bleep mirriam" James said.
"Sharrap! Go bring my tv come give me"
"I don tell una say i ko pay for those things abi i been ask una price of those things" James argued.
"Money ko deh this week?" Okon asked.
"I ko try!" James replied.
"Keep quiet! You be triangle" Harry fired.
"Chillax! I ko give una money for the electronics. Mirriam been fall for my apartment asin eh, the girl die see as she deh admire my AC" James bragged.
"AC wey you borrow! God punish you" Okon cursed.
"You been use condom?" Harry asked.

"You are owing me two years house rent and you still have the guts, the impetus to furnish your apartment abi, God will judge both of us today" the landlord roared and adjusted his wrapper.
"Oga..."
"Don't oga me. Idiot, sycophant, armed criminal, you are a bumbling fool, a nincompoop. You even have a girlfriend. Even with the money you are owing, you still have the guts" the landlord broke down in tears. "You brought a girl to my house and wasted my money on her. Small time my soakaway will soon full because of the size of her ikebe. When she shit, the size of her shit will be like beer bottle and before one month my soakaway will full" Landlord ranted.
"Land abeg.." Harry tried to plead.
"Don't land me you, did you pay your rent of las year" landlord roared at Harry.
"Oga today is 1st na, i ko pay..."
"Shattap your smelly mouth, God punish ya fada" landlord roared.
"Where is James, where is that god-forsaken- bastart, were is the bastart?" Landlord roared.
James had escaped without the notice of the landlord.
"James if you don't arrive this arena, I'll kill you" the landlord roared and grabbed Harry's trouser.
"Oga land, i no be James" Harry pleaded.
"If you are not James, then who are you?"
"Which kin wahala be this??" Harry asked confused.
"You are speaking pidgin with me, I'll lock you up in krikri".
"Ogaland, why you wan lock me up?" Harry said.
"You've committed two offence, the first one is speaking pidgin with me, the second one is making friends with a criminal. James is a hardened criminal. Wat i don't know is whether he is armed or unarmed" landlord ranted.
"Na old age deh worry you, free me na" Harry said.
"You think you can fight me, infact I'll give you and your uneducated friends quit notice. No uneducated person will stay in my compound again. If you don't have at least NCE i won't give you my house again!".
"I hear you sir" Harry scoffed.
"Let me go and find cane, I'll trash you today" landlord dragged Harry towards the bush.
"No try am, i ko kill you throway your body for river jordan" Harry struggled.
"Look at your catfish mouth, my grand children will kill you. By the way, where is river jordan?" Landlord asked.
"God will punish you!" Harry mumbled inaudibly.
"What did you just say?"
"I didn't say anything" Harry denied.
"It is you that God will punish because you're living my house today".
"I yaff die! James!! James!!! Na your cross i deh carry" Harry cried.

Chapter 15

★Nightmares★

It is over a week since Victoria's body was dumped in an abadoned incinerator. Victoria had been declared missing by the police and Vera had been unable to sleep.
After a tiring lecture session, she returned to her lodge, the weather was approaching dusk and non of her roommates arrived. She heaved a sigh and laid on the bed. Suddenly, the room became cool and the hairs on her skin stood still, she felt a presence in the room but ignored the feeling. She felt a slight movement on the bed and suddenly a luggage began moving on its own accord.
Vera's eyes popped out in horror.
"Jesus christ" She screamed but couldn't get off the bed, it seems her body had been glued to the bed.
The box stopped at the doorpost
and she heard footsteps approaching her.
"Please i need the key to the door?"
"I rebuke you in the name of Jesus christ, a name that is greater than all names" Vera mumbled, she was loosing her vocals.
"Please don't rebuff my spirit, i need to go dress up. You guys stripped me naked and i also have a party to attend" the voice said.
"I can't move!" Vera said.
"Just tell me where the key is"
"Over there" Vera pointed upwards.
"Thanks, i attended lectures today but no one could see me, i took the test but couldn't submit"
"Who are you?" Vera asked terrified.
Silence!!!
"Greet Smart for me, tell him that killing me won't stop my love for him, tell him that I'll be with him till death parts him from the earth, tell him i won't return to the land beyond untill i have him by my side".
"Noooo! Victoria" Vera screamed and awoke, she shivered in great fear and grabbed her bible.
It was all a dream!!!
Her eyes popped out in horror when she noticed the door wide open and Victoria's luggage missing.
That wasn't a dream, was it?
She grabbed her bible and raced out of the room.
Out of great fear, Vera waited outside for her roommates to arrive.

"Babe, why you deh sit like say you see ghost" Lydia tapped at Vera continuously.
Vera jerked in fear and quickly try to regain her composure.
"Babes, you guys are late, what kept you people ?" Vera asked.
"We told you yesterday na, Chucks party was the bomb" Veronica voiced excitedly and they headed towards their room.
"Why is the door wide opened?" Praise asked.
"Gosh! Mosquito will kill someone today, Vera why did you open the door this wide?" Lydia asked.
But Vera's mind was occupied.
"Blood of Jesus christ! Why is the room in disarray" Lydia gasped.
"Vera are you sure this room wasn't robbed" Veronica asked.
"Sorry i had to scatter the room i couldn't find my makeup kits, i saw you guys at the party" a voice spoke.
"Someone just whispered!" Veronica gasped.
"You mean?" Lydia asked.
"I just heard someone's voice" Veronica said and closed the door.
"Whose voice, we are only four in here" Vera gasped.
"We are not alone!" Veronica gasped.
The girls gasped in fear and were suddenly terrified.
They all rushed outside and alerted the males that lived around.
Their room was properly searched by armed guys but nothing was found.
The girls breathed a sigh of relief.
"I thought we were with armed robbers" Veronica gasped.
They arranged the room and soon noticed something was amiss.
"Where is Vicky's luggage?" Lydia asked.
"Blood of Christ! Vicky came here and took her luggages" Praise said in suprise.
"Victoria has always been an ingrate, no one knows where she is and instead of her to show up and keep everyone she decides to pick her luggages and abscond" Veronica rattled.
"Don't dare call me an ingrate, I'm right here with you guys and the luggage is outside the door, i couldn't attend the party again" a voice said.
"Vera, what's wrong with you and why are you shivering?" Lydia asked.
"Leave the bitch alone, she and Smart connived and killed me, oya babes cut the discussion short prepare food I'm hungry" a voice said.
"God! Someone has just whispered again" Veronica gasped and scanned the room in fear.
"What is your problem? and who is whispering?" Vera asked in fear of the unknown.
"When you guys are through with your saga, meet me at the kitchen" Praise said and walked past them to the kitchen.
"That's my girl, let's go prepare food, I'm famished" a voice said.



"How was lectures today?" Vera asked with mouthful of rice, she was very certain of the fact that her friends had begun to nurse suspicions about her. So she resolved to brighten up her countenance.
"Yea stressful as usual!" Veronica said.
"Mr.Badmus is just out to frustrate student, can you imagine he failed my test because i didn't get his handout" Lydia said.
"We had a test in my department, i wrote it but couldn't submit" a voice said.
Veronica's spoon dropped in shock.
"Victoria is here with us!"
"What do you mean?" Vera gasped in horror.
"She just said something and I'm sure of her shrill tone of regret" Veronica stood still.
"What's this joke all about! Victoria no one is ready for your tantrums, just show your sorry ass if you are hiding" Praise muttered.
"I'm here, sitted with you people watching in frustration as you all are eating but i can't because i feel too light to do anything in this realm" the voice sobbed.
"Nooo! Vicky is in this room, I'm certain of it" Veronica scanned round the room.
"But this room had been searched, and I'm certain that no one is in this room," Lydia said and sat down to eat.
Vera knees buckled in fear and she began to shiver in fright as she just saw a spoon dangling its way to the kitchen.
"Vera you're hiding something sinister from us and it's killing you" Lydia said as she scrutinised Vera critically.
But Vera stood still and continued staring at a particular spot. She saw a blurr shadow of someone trying to stripp off and then NEPA restored power. She gave a deafening scream as she recognised Victoria's back view moving into the bathroom.
Victoria turned and smiled at her.
Vera collapsed.
★Medical centre Uyo★

#The next day

Vera's friends were confused and they wondered what could be Vera's problem. Vera had recovered and refused to speak with anybody, the doctor had assured them that her inability to speak is as the result of the shock, and she should be given ample time to recover her senses.

#One hour later#

Vera's friends moved solemnly into the private ward in which Vera lay.
"Don't hurt me" Vera said and recoiled on the bed in fear.
"Vera are you okay?" Lydia asked and moved closer to Vera.
"Don't you dare haunt me, i have no hand in your death!" Vera struggled with imaginary figures.
"Vera speak out! what is the problem?" Lydia asked in fear.
Vera struggled and laid still.
"Vera!" they gasped in fear.
"I'm okay" Vera breathed.
The ladies breathed in relief. "You scared the hell out of us" Veronica said.
They all sat with her.
Vera shrieked in horror as a chair dragged itself forward and a blurr shadow was formed.

He also transfered his 1930 version of okpolo canvas outside and borrowed flashy ones from Udoh. His changed his bedspray which he had been sleeping on for years. He also transfered all his plastic and stainless plates and borrowed ceramic plates and glasses from the neighbourhood, all to impress Mirriam. Infact he had to rent a GOTV decorder and a soundsystem.

"What are you doing here?" Vera asked as she dropped her bag.
"Am at my man's place, do you have any problem with that?" Victoria asked.
"Iffa hear 'fip' I'll kill you! Vera pls i invited this your good for nothing friend to help me in preparing some food but she prepared cow shit for me" Smart said.
Vera chuckled, she knew Victoria could not even prepare a pot of noodles successfully and she also knew Smart was lying.
"This is what you wanted huh?" Vera moved closer to Victoria.
Victoria gave a brief laughter.
"Smart is my man and there is nothing anyone can do about it" Victoria growled.
"I am not your man!" Smart said.
"No problem!" Vera said and made for the door.

"Hands off me, i made enormous sacrifices for us to spend this day happily but you choose to pay me back" Vera sobbed.

Victoria grabbed the pot of stew and emptied it on Smart.
"Nooo!" Smart screamed and lost his cool, he pushed Vera away and rushed at Victoria. He grabbed her hair and slammed her hard to the wall repeatedly until her body became lifeless.
"Noooooooooooooooo" Vera screamed in horror.
Smart clenched his fist and began shivering.
"What have you done?"Vera asked in great fear.
"She is not dead, let's rush her to the hospital" Smart said and wobbled round the room.
Vera ran her fingers through the crack on her forehead which blood was oozing out in large quantity.
"She is gone! Smart why can't you control your anger" Vera screamed.
"Keep your voice low, i never intended killing her but she has been a terrible pain in the ass" Smart fidgeted with the door handle.
"You want to run huh?" Vera said.
"No let me confirm if the door is locked".
Smart moved closer to Vera and held her shoulders.
"You will have to make sacrifices for our love" Smart whispered.
"Common get your filthy hands off me, infact I'm living" Vera screamed and made for the door.
"We'll have to clean our mess together" Smart moved closer to her.
"You're a fool to say that, it is your mess, you invited her to your place, bleeped her and then killed her" Vera fired back.

Vera retrieved her phone but in a swift move, Smart grabbed the phone and slammed it against the wall.

Smart rushed into the rest room and returned with a mop and a bucket.
He wiped the blood stains and emptied it into the toilet soon the room had the stench of an abbatoir.
"We need an air freshner" Vera broke the silence after some minutes of inactivity.
"That's my baby, love is a burden we all have to bear" Smart said.
"Let me go get it from the nearby store" Vera got up.
"No, we'll manage" Smart replied.
"Do you think I'll escape, it is our cross" Vera gasped.

The stench the room emitted made Vera nauseate and she vomitted and soon felt weak. The gory face of Victoria made her scared but she had to endure till nightfall. She thought on how she will survive with the mental picture of being an accomplice.
Her knees buckled and she fell to the floor.

Inspector Timi sat under an abandoned ship with thirteen policemen. He had received a call from Vera that Philip was her fiance's friend. The federal university already had his data but he wasn't an active student.

The speed boat stopped and four old men alighted from the boat and the boat sped towards another direction.
With the aid of the telescope, Timi scrutinized the men.
"Check their voyage license" Timi spoke into his receiver.

A sea officer marched forward and approached the aged men.
"Can i see your voyage license?"
"Me no know!" One of the men said.
"Huh?"
"Me no know!" One of the men said.
The sea officer scrutinised them carefully.
"Hausa, fulani?" The sea officer asked.
"Insha Allah" the men chorused in unison.
The sea officer sighed in frustration, he searched their bags and let them go.

"Inspector that is the last ferry for today and it is from Maiduguri, your information is wrong" the sea officer spoke into the receiver.

Darkness sighed "the police knows about our mission".
"We need to visit Oron ferry and receive our consignment quick" Doctor replied and pulled out a skin mask from his breast pocket.

★Harmony lodge, Uyo★

Every circumstance in life reflect your decision. The problems one face reflect the personality of someone, the are state of slough(s) which nature won't let one undergo because his immunity isn't strong enough to battle it. Smart and Vera had been discharged by the doctors but they refused to travel home for the festive celebration, Vera wanted spending the whole day with Smart at his lodge.

1 hour later

Vera had prepared melon soup garnished with chicken, kpomo and fresh fish with pounded yam, rice and vegetable stew with grilled chicken. She put them into different foodflask and stocked the food flask in a bag, she stocked the packs of yoggurt into a pail filled with ice cubes, She breathed in satisfaction.
As she made to 'tidy-up' her paraphernalia.
Her phone ringing tone distracted her, without confirming the ID of the caller she swiped the green icon.

Harry: hello my sweetest sweetheart.
Vera: (in contempt) yea.
Harry: won't you come Eket for xmas?
Vera: Nope! I have an emergency assignment.

"I didn't come here to cook for you instead of you to take me out and spoil me rotten, you are here talking gibberish" Victoria disagreed.
Smart clenched his fist.
"I will pull out your incisors, why are you being unreasonable?" Smart roared.
"I cannot cook for you" Victoria screamed.

Victoria grabbed the money on the bed and left the house to the market.
She felt confused on what to buy. She remembered that there was rice and a few condiments as Smart claimed but she never knew what the few condiments were.

She retrieved her phone and googled 'what are condiments?'
She scanned through the search result and wasn't satisfied.

'List examples of food condiments' She typed, scanned through the results and make a screenshot.

'What is the difference between foodstuffs and food condiments?' She typed into the searchbox.
She wasn't still satisfied with the answer she got.

"Please i need condiments for stew, i have rice at home" Victoria said as she moved into a grocery shop.
The sales girl retrieved some condiments and placed it on a table, the total amount was 1k.
Victoria paid for the condiments and moved to a cool room and bought some frozen parts of turkey.

"I thought you ran away with my money i would have torn you to shreds with my bare hands" Smart said with bloodshot eyes
"I've bought everything for the stew" Victoria said and dropped the contents on the table.
"That's my girl" Smart said and squeezed her boobs.
Victoria moved to the kitchen, she was confused. She searched the foodlocker and brought out every ingredients and scrutinized them carefully.
She retrieved her phone and googled 'what is the difference between condiments, foodstuffs and ingredients'
The search result confused her the more.
'How can one prepare rice and stew' she googled.
most of the ingredients she saw on net contradicted with the ingredients she had.
She sighed in confusion.
She poured a large quantity of rice into the pot and placed it on the fire, she added salt, four maggi cubes and some spices and left it to boil.

Four minutes later
The rice had a yellowish colour and it tasted awful.
" God the rice is supposed to be white, why is it yellow?" She muttered in confusion.
An idea occured to her: 'salt is white, a large quantity of it will change the colour from yellow to white'.
She retrieved the salt jar and emptied large quantity of it into the pot of rice in a bid to change the colour.

Five minutes later
The rice still maintained the yellowish colour and it tasted worse.
She scratched her hair in confusion.
She recalled her grandma's words

Victoria sat on the floor brooding, though she heard the news of Vera's condition but she refused to visit her.Her thoughts were on Smart, she felt the pressing need to go visit him but she suppressed it. She kind of felt utter confusion.
'Did Vera call Harry to come beat up Smart?'
'No' She called Harry herself.
'How could he beat up her man'
She chuckled.
'Vera will pay for that rubbish' she soliloquised.

Philip screamed with a pistol in hands, he was ready to pull the trigger at anybody.
" Philopa! Parambus deh follow us for back, stay low we ko follow up matters later" Doctor tried reasoning him.
"I no fit try dat kind thing! That bastard no fit touch my baby go scotfree" Philip screamed.
"Owo! You too deh high, calm down we ko settle am later, stay low for now" Doctor screamed back at him.
Philip retrieved a phone from the table, he logged into his whatsapp application, clicked on a video and handed the phone to doctor.
"See how the bastard the nack my boy, i ko put one bullet for him skull" Philip said and made to leave.
"I command you as the second fada of the sugar boys say make you jazz down" doctor roared.
Philip pointed the gun at doctor.
"No jazzing down until drybones be drybones!" Philip capped and left the stunned doctor.

Harry and his crew marched into the hospital with hands filled with goodies. Everyone in the hospital believed they were workers from a noodles manufacturing company doing promo for the company as their ID card stood 'proudly' on their chest.
"Which company please?" A nurse asked.
"We wan see Miss Vera" Harry said.
They were led into Vera's ward.
Harry stood transfixed as he stared at Vera who was in a conversation with her friends.
"My baby" Harry said in admiration.
On hearing the voice, Vera gasped in suprise.
"Uncle Harry welcome! Thanks for what you did" Vera said.
"I fit do more now my blood deh your body, equation don balance" Harry said and kissed her right hand.
"Good day all" Lydia, praise, Veronica, Regina and Iniabasi greeted in unison.
"Good day to you, how are we?" Harry replied.
"We are fine" the ladies gigled.
"Vera please accept my condolence for the...."
"Who died?" Vera cut him short.
The ladies laughed their ribs out.
"Who are these guys?" Vera asked.
"There are my brothers from different mothers. That man on black bear-bear looking like a lost fowl is Peter known as Eli, the other one with a stomach of a gorilla is Okon you can call him Goliath, this one that resembles a pregnant man is Udoh you call him Adam while this handsome man that resembles me is James but you can call him Nebuchadnezzar! "Harry introduced.
"You are welcome in Jesus name" The men said waving their hands to the air.
The ladies fell on the floor clutching their stomach in laughter.
Vera laughed till she began coughing. Harry sat on the bed and patted her back. He enjoyed seeing Vera coughed, everything about Vera was beautiful.
He retrieved a bag and handed a beautiful peplet gown to Vera.
"Whoah! This must cost a fortune" Vera gasped.
OMG! the ladies drooled over Harry.
Harry retrieved another bag and removed an envelope which contained the ID cards, he gave the cards to Peter who clipped it on all the ladies.
"What is this?" Vera gasped in horror.
"Babe, i made this ID card to show the whole world that we are dating. Boys no be so?" Harry echoed.
"Very well Garri! " the men echoed.
"I want all of you to hang this card everywhere you go make the whole Uyo know say me and my babe deh together. When they see as una deh clip the card dem players ko run. Nobody ko touch you for this campus, i deh make my own plans for the bastard wey been shoot you! I ko tear am. Ladies in the house!, even if una wan enter baffroom, clip the ID card for your breast". Harry said.
He shared the cartons of noodles, beverages, toiletries, packs of juice, spagetti(s), bread and cookies among the ladies. Everyone had a large share of provisions.
"Whoah! Harry you are the best i won't visit the store again for provisions! Thanks for the xmas gift" Praise said and they all hugged Harry and his crew.
Harry turned to Vera "I'm beginning to begin to love you"

Who on earth could have believed that the playful Harry, the joker, the cajoler could fight that bloody. His friends were suprised. They couldn't come to the realization of the fact that their man almost beat someone to death. So is life! A simpleton when pushed against the wall could transform into a beast. Never underrate an homo sapien, their traits aren't fully recognised some are embedded in the nucleus waiting for the atmospheric and emotional condition to bring it to surface.


"Officer no threaten me, i sabi my right" Harry screamed in an angry tone.
"Wetin be right? You don see constitution before?" An officer asked.
Harry and Udoh were detained behind the counter at the police station.
"Oya criminal, come and write your statement" A female officer barked at Udoh. He moved sluggishly towards
the officer "i no fit write" he said.
The officers barked at him in indignation. "Oya talk, i ko write" a female officer said.
"Officer write wetin i talk no write nonsense" Udoh said and he was given a powerful slap across the face.
"Make i use english or pidgin?"
"You this fool! Start talking" the officer screamed.
"No make this your breast confuse ma spirit" Udoh said.
"What tha Bleep! Bleep you!!" The female officer grabbed a baton and slammed it on Udoh's knee and the latter screamed in agony.
"I'll deal with that your bucket mouth! bastard child!! Now you" She ordered Harry. "Fall out for your statement".
Harry wobbled towards the officer.
He cleared his throat and took a deep breath.
"Madam officer i greet you! Fellow officers i greet you all!! All the forces inside and outside i greet you all.
When all protocols are observed, symetrically i was in a variabastic mood of a simba cabal abasalam. I received a phone call that created a bummer bummy in my stomach even though my soup was inherited by church rats which i share my hard earned stipulated food with. The female officer was stunned and almost afraid of Harry's statement.
"Return to your cells" She ordered, waving her baton.
"Madam you cannot lock me up! I was locked up but you let me out, i am not a child, state my offense, i deh hurry" Harry screamed.

"Officer! You don cripple me and you must marry me" Udoh screamed.
"God will punish you" the female officer screamed. "Common move".

Inspector Timi and his constables marched into the ward in which Vera layed.
Vera gasped in fright on seeing the men on black, she shivered in fear as the scene of how she was shot keep replaying on her mind.
"Hello dear I'm inspector Timi, we are not here to hurt you and we plead for your utmost cooperation and we promise to hunt down the criminals" Inspector Timi paused to let the word sink.
"What's your name?" Timi asked.
"Vera"
"You are a student of the federal university huh?"
Vera nodded.
"Please we want verbal answers" Timi said.
"Do you belong to any group in school?"
"Yes"
"Can i know the groups?"
"Winners chapel fellowship, Student union and Uyo choral union" Vera replied.
"Is that all?"

"It seems you have forgotten to add secret cult" Timi said.

"Easy there! I don't expect you to admit that you belong to any but trust me, the police will leave no stone unturned! So you better spill out the truth" Timi said.

"It is a singing union headed by John Mfon a medical student, we practise every thursday and saturday for the carol festival that would be held on the 20th of this month" Vera said.
"I see! What's your relationship status?"

"Take care lady! I'm not through with the questioning but I'll leave you to rest but mind you, the speed in which our questioning progresses determines the alacrity of our investigations" Timi said.
"I know but i feel terribly weak" Vera replied.
"Ok! but i want to ask for a favour" Timi clasped his palms together.
"What is it? " Vera replied.
"Gather the remains of your strength for just one question and I'll leave and come back someother time when you are certified 'healthy' by the doctor" Timi said.
Vera nodded.
"Who is Harry?" Timi asked.
"A distant friend" Vera replied.
"You aren't dating him?" Timi asked.
"I've exhausted my strength" Vera replied and closed her eyes.
"Thanks! get well soon, I'll be back" Timi turned and made for the door.
"Officer!"
Timi turned round.
"I thought you came to question me on the incident that almost took my life away, why are you pestering me on my relationship?" Vera asked weakly.
Timi chuckled "I'm trained to think as an investigator, i look at things in concatenation, life is a puzzle which i try to fix! everything in life is connected, it depends on how one could find the connection lines, it is like a circuit box! Goodbye beauty" Timi said and left the ward.
Vera lay on the bed with tears streaming down her cheeks, life is really a puzzle, her own life is more than a puzzle. It seems all the demons in hell were concerned about her walfare.

Inspector Timi parked his lexus 2016 model in the garage and alighted from the car. He replied to numerous salutes.
"Bring those fighters to my office" Inspector Timi said to a corporal.

"Officer! I salute" Harry and Udoh greeted.
"Sit" Timi said.
Timi cleared his throat and looked at the two men keenly.
"Who among you is called Harry?" Timi asked.
"I am that i am! I am not only Harry but I'm Garri, my baptism name is Abimelech" Harry said.
The inspector fought hard to maintain a strict demeanor but couldn't and he gave a brief laugh.
"Do you smoke?" Timi asked.
"See question! How can an ordained bishop smoke?" Harry replied.
"You are stupid" Timi said.
"It is an achievement" Harry replied.
Timi regarded them for a while and nodded the men were just carefree men and that made him beleive that they weren't part of the killers but he had to question them. Their behaviour could just be a charade.
"You donated your blood to Vera huh?" Timi asked.
"Yes"
"Ok! Who are you to Vera?"
"I'm her everything, I'm the butter in her bread, the vegetables in her soup, the man of her career and investment, I'm her spiritual and physical husband and boyfriend" Harry replied.
"Is it true?" Timi faced Udoh.
"Yes officer!" Udoh replied.
"Do you stay in Uyo?"
"No, na Eket i base" Harry replied.

I ginger her, i told her that i am the guy that will love her i gat it in me, I'll fix my lens and focus my eyes on her, I'm a photographer for love, i told her that she shouldn't let small boys to ginger her cuz them na apprentice. Oh! Fada lawd they haff jail me for love!" Harry exclaimed.
"Na new one?" Udoh asked.
"You say?" Harry asked.
"I mean your madness! na new one?" Udoh asked.
Inspector Timi stared at Harry keenly and sighed. This is the guy, Vera denied ever being in love with.
"Who was the guy you fought with?" Timi asked.
"An enemy that insulted me and want to steal my babe from me" Harry replied.
"How are you sure that Vera loves you?" Timi asked.
"150% sure" Harry replied.
"You can go"
He retrieved his phone and dialled a number. "Grant them bail".

He heard a knock and the door opened.
"Sorry sir! Excitement couldn't let me" Benjamin saluted.
"Sit"
"Sir I've cracked the security system of the device" Benjamin half screamed.
"Whoah! You are genius" Inspector Philip saluted.
"Look at these pictures sir" Benjamin handed the iphone to Timi.
"God! I know this guy" Timi gasped, "he chased after Vera and was involved in the shootout" Timi said.
"Sir i also went through his chat on whatsapp, it seems he is involved in drug smuggling and he is s gay cuz I've noticed his erotic chat and videos with men" Benjamin said.
Timi nodded slowly. "We are going somewhere".

Love is a powerful feeling of attraction towards a particular person or object. An unbridled love is filled with extreme desire, a desire to protect, preserve. A kind of love that makes on impetuous, one could do anything without reasoning. A kind of love that makes one fastidious in a relationship. It is not a relationship that makes one a lothario or a ladolcevita relationship. An unbridled desire is love.
I mean seraphic love.


Harry moved towards Smart and they both stared at each other in anger. The both felt invidious.
"Harry maintain! no fight abeg" Udoh pleaded.
Smart with blood shot eyes stared at Harry who had a sinister smile dancing round his lips. Without warning, Smart delivered a punch to Harry. Harry bumbled slowly rubbing his cheeks. He stared at Smart in bloodshot eyes and muttered inaudibly. He immediately rushed Smart with a powerful punch to his nose and the latter staggered. Smart threw a straight punch but Harry reflex was faster as he grabbed Smart's wrist midair and twisted it he dragged Smart closer to himself and delivered multiple headbutt on Smart's nose. Smart sent a knee to Harry stomach and Harry staggered and left him. Smart made to deliver an uppercut but Harry ducked low and sent his shoulder crashing against Smart abdominal region, the impact of the 'spear' slammed Smart's back on the ground. Harry sat on Smart stomach, pinned Smart's hand and began ditching heavyweight punches to his face and in just a few seconds, Smart's face was battered.
Udoh began clapping his hands, running round them like a referee "Harry i deh count your punches, if ehn reach seventy i ko seperate una" Udoh said kneeling. The whole hospital was in a state of pandemonium.
"Harry please!" Praise cried but Harry refused to bulge. It seems everyone- Doctors and nurses alike were magically spelled as they stood transfixed, watching the show.

"If anybody move, I'll pull the trigger" a female corporal said pointing her riffle at Harry. Harry reluctantly stoodup and bit his lips in vigour, his cloth was filled with blood.
"Your hands up, you that fool instead of you trying to seperate you became a ref huh? I'll kill you today" She moved forward and handcuffed Udoh and Smart together.
Everyone gasped as the saw Smart's gory figure groaning on the ground. The nurses rushed forward with a stretcher. Smart's eyes were sealed, his face increased twice in size, his mouth formed like kanda lost direction and swerved to the side of his jaw and his nose expanded and let out blood in huge amount.

The IT guy sighed in frustration, this was his sixth time of trying to break the security feature of the phone, he had used different root cracking procedures but couldn't gain access.
Icloud is bae. He picked up his phone and dialled Inspector Timi's number.
"Sir, i can't break the security!
Icloud is a different technological security software that sends electro magnetive waves which fries any cracker!
We have to take the device to the manufacturers!
Ok, but we will need a warrant!
Ok, Sir, Shun sir!"

Inspector Timi scanned through the E-document in his email thoughtfully. The Vice chancellor had given him the 'go-ahead' to raid anywhere in the school in lookout for the criminals.

'Majesty Jacobs' He muttered. He logged into the citizen's library application on his tablet device and typed in the name. It loaded and displayed over five people bearing the same name. He compared the passport on the land document and the pictures on the citizen's app and got the pictures he needed. He clicked on his profile and clicked on a full view pictures. The man was five foot tall, dark and muscular with a strict facial look.

Inspector Timi sighed in frustration, the information might have been tampered on. The case was already given him headache. He rose from his office to the computer room. He felt a beep in his pocket, he retrieved his phone and pressed the answer button.
"Whoah! She is concsious!
That's great news I'll be there in an hour time just don't let anyone see her till i arrive! Ok"
He disconnected and received salute from his juniors. He entered the room and sat close to a desktop computer
"Where is Benjamin?" Timi asked no one in particular and quickly recalled he had to send a copy of a police warrant to his mail so that it could be presented to the device manufacturers.
"Ben is out! any problem sir?" a man said.
"Yes! I want you guys to run a search on this pictures and take notes of the address you find" Timi said and handed his tablet to the man.
"Could we get his contact?" Timi asked.
"Yea! through his social media handle but I'll run a special application that will detect anyother platform that captures his face" The man replied and boot the computer before him.
"Can we get his contact?" Timi asked.
"Yea! but that won't be easy but once we could track his location then we could get his contact, releasing his pix to the service provider will be of help" The man replied.
"Ok! do what you can, i want detailed information about the man by tomorrow! I'll be going somewhere" Timi said and left the computer room. He needed to visit the hospital for questioning.

Philip growled in frustration, every thing were just working against him. He just lost his expensive phone which contains a lot of secrets and if found by the police could fully implicate him and his group as drug smugglers. And he had just discovered from reliable intels that the lady he shot was alive, he felt anger and resentment towards himself. The thought of Smart holding the lady again infuriated him.
"The bitch must die"
He had to finish up what he started and lay low for a while. He suddenly felt like smoking. he made to leave the sitting room when he heard Darkness voice across the adjourning corridor.
"Philopa! yawa don gas" Darkness groaned and slumped on the chair.
"Wetin sup?" Philip asked.
"The PA to the commissioner wey for help us run matters don kpai" Darkness roared.
"Wetin do am?" Philip replied, he was getting sick over the basket full of bad news.
"I been call am he come tell me sat he deh Accra! me sef don weak" Darkness said and retrieved a rizzler from his pocket.
"The kind igboh wey worry me na the one wey be say if i smoke i ko sleep for ninety-seven days" Darkness said.
"Omoh na die deh worry you" Philip muttered inaudibly.
"I wan see that bastard" Darkness roared.
Philip jerked forward "which bastard?"
"The one wey deh Bleep non entity because na him cause me this yawa i wan tear him blockus with my boner" Darkness roared.
"I ko tell am" Philip replied.
"Sharrap dia! Wetin you wan tell am, mount the bastard's area with boys, lock am up carry am come here" Darkness roared he retrieved a wrap of codeine opened it and deposited a large quantity into the rizzler, rolled it and lighted it, he took a long drag and puffed the smoke out.
Philip nodded, he contemplated on telling darkness about Vera miraculous recovery and resolved not to inform him. He made plans to see doctor before the end of the day to inform him about Vera recovery before finishing her. He was in love with Smart and no one was going to change that.
"Philopa! Wetin you deh reason ah been deh call you since" Darkness screamed.
Philip jerked forward "I deh ruggedly! No shaking cuz the master deh dock one ship with me" Smart capped. He retrieved a rizzler from Darkness, inserted the substance and inhaled. He moved to the compact disc and inserted 'burna boy' track and increased the volume.
"I don die! Burna boy song deh sweet with igboh" darkness said.

Inspector Timi moved into the waiting room with two constables.
"I'm inspector Timi from the Nigerian Police force! Can i see Doctor Abbas" Timi displayed his Identity card to a nurse.
"Ok come with me" The nurse said and led them to the doctor's office.
"Oops! Officers you are welcome! Have a seat!! What can i offer you?" Doctor Abbas politely asked.
"Nothing! Thanks!! we wish to maintain a proffessional atmosphere so can you give us a brief but concize run down on the condition of things pertaining to the Lady?" Inspector Timi asked and retrieved his notepad.
"Emmm! Nothing much her girlfriends visited her that was before you gave the order her parents are in the waiting room demanding to see her but i barred them from doing so" Doctor Abbas said.
"Thanks for your cooperation" Timi said.
"Not only that, two men were involved in a very bloody fight here in the hospital both of them claimed to be dating the lady" Doctor Abbas said.
"That's absurd how bloody was the fight?"
"Very bloody! If not for the intervention of the men you sent someone would have died" Abbas said.
"Interesting! Both of them almost killed themselves because of a girl?" Timi asked.
"It wasn't a fight but a bloody beatup" Abbas added.
"And where are the men?" Timi asked.
"One is lying unconscious in the Intensive Care Unit while the other who donated his blood for the lady is in the custody" Abbas said.
"We'll visit that later, can i question the lady?" Timi asked.
"Very well" Abbas replied.

At dawn, Harry limped out of his room with the aid of a walking stick. He sat on the pavement and tried to connect to Vera's number via phone call but it was unsuccessful.
"Harry the rat seeker, i hail you" Udoh greeted and Harry nodded.
"Why your face dey like this na?" Udoh asked.
"Omoh! my babe no gree answer her calls" Harry breathed.
"Maybe she deh occupied" Udoh replied.
"Eh, person been shock my life las nite" Harry said.
"Wetin the person do?" Udoh asked.
"The person tell me say Vera don die, but i no believe" Harry replied shaking his head in an emphatic disagreement.
"How person ko call you yarn dat kind gist?" Udoh asked in disbelief.
"Baba! I deh go Uyo, i gast see things for my self" Harry stood up.
"But if my baby don die, i ko kill
myself" Harry muttered.
"She no fit die" Udoh said.

★Medical Centre, Uyo★

Lydia, praise and other lodgemates sat in the waiting room. Lydia received a call from the police the previous day concerning the condition of Vera. They had to suspend everything to visit the hospital. The girls were sweating severely even in the air conditioned room.
Vera had been taken to the theatre for emergent repairs of her broken ribs but the doctors were aware of the fact that her chances of survival was low.
"Here he comes!" Lydia breathed as they spotted the doctor approaching.
"Doc is my friend allright?" Lydia asked.
"The bullet punctured her ribs and destroyed some of her vitals thereby spilling out some liquid in her abdominal region. We have succeeded in fixing the complication but she is in comatose and in dire need of a blood transfusion" The doctor said.
"Oh! I'll donate, my friends over there will donate, just save my friend she is all I've got" Lydia breathed.
"Ok! meet the lab man upstairs" The doctor said and left.

Harry, Okon, Peter and Udoh arrived Uyo by taxi. Harry paid the cab man and they alighted from the taxi, after asking for directions they boarded a kekenapep and arrived at the hospital.
Harry moved with heavy steps into the hospital. "Maybe they don carry her corpse go motuary" Okon whispered to Harry.
"She no fit die" Harry mumbled.

Lydia and her crew were extremely devastated as non of their blood group matched Vera's own.

In blood transfusion, the donor and the recepient blood group must be compatible to avoid agglutination ( Clumping of the blood). The only blood group that can donate to everyother blood group is blood group 'O'. It is called the universal donor. The blood available in the hospital's blood bank didn't match Vera's own, hope was lost again!

"Talk of the devil! who is that guy approaching" Praise said.
Harry spotted a group of girls sitting and his instinct pushed him further to meet them.
"Hi ladies, i am Harry son of Udeme, but my baptism name is Abimelech! first son of my late mother, a hustler, semi educated, semi handsome, I'm swagg, still a young man, I'm a bachelor but not single"

Harry completed his mouth watering introduction.
"So how can we help you?" Praise asked.
"Yea! I fly all the way from Eket to the capital city to seek someone, cuz the bible says seek and thee shall find! ask it shall be given so i yaff come to seek my girlfriend! As i lay in my room in peace, smiling at my ceiling my phone rang. I thought it was MTN but i saw 11 digits so i picked the call and i was in escalation because of the intensa excomminicator oviagu! The person, a female person told me that the love of my life is dead. I was in a compensidious akarasharwama be..."
The girls despite their dampened mood couldn't help but laugh at Harry. Udoh just folded his arms as he watch his friend wallow in the pit of his stupidity. Harry thought the girls do not know Vera and turned to leave but he heard someone panting and running towards them.
"Non of our blood matches Vera's own" Lydia said at the verge of tears.
"This is serious!" Praise gasped.
"Some good samaritans have decided to donate but still non matches" Lydia sobbed.
"Please! I'm Harry the Garri, Vera's lover i fit see the doctor?" Harry asked.
"You are Harry?" Lydia asked, suprised.
"Yea! Harry Udeme, no! Harry the Garri" Harry gasped. Udoh moved closer and whispered to his ears "eh be like say you wan run mad".

"I hope say she never die because person been call me say she don die!" Harry said moving in quick strides with Lydia.
"She isn't dead and in the first instance, who called you?" Lydia asked.
"I no sabi the person but the person na female" Harry replied.
Lydia sensed a foul play.
"That is the doctor" Lydia directed him.
"Good day gentleman! I'm Harry Vera's husband" Harry introduced himself.
"What took you so long, weren't you aware of the incident?" The doctor asked.
"I no been deh town" Harry replied.
"What is your blood group?" The doctor asked.
"Wetin dat one mean? Blood na blood" Harry replied.
"Hmmmm! Where are you from?" The doctor asked.
"Lafia in Nassarawa" Harry replied.
"Let's move over to the lab" The doctor said.
"I deh fear injection" Harry said.



. ★Crime scene, Uyo campus★

Inspector Timi moved round the uncompleted building where the shootout between the police and the cultist occured in quick strides. He was dazzed at the revelation. he just found out that there building was a hideout for hardened criminals. The building was ransacked by the police and they found out different ammunitions and wraps of different hard drugs. The exhibits was packed silently into the police van. He breezed out of the building in high spirit in determination to nab the criminals who killed most of his men. He had already placed a call to the commissioner of police to begin the paper works for the compensation of the men that died in service.
He scanned the faces of the onlookers who moved round the building and beckoned on a young man.
"Do you stay around here?" Timi asked.
"Yea I'm a pharmaceutical student in my final year" The man replied.

Inspector Timi sighed and dismissed the man.
"Sir we have found another exhibit" a junior said. He moved to the inspector and saluted then handed the phone to him.
Inspector Timi looked at the phone and murmured in frustration. "The phone was Iphone6 with an Icloud security which he knew was difficult to crack. "Put it in the exhibit bag" he ordered. He knew if the lady which was rescued by the police becomes consious, she would be of help during the investigation but he knew he had to tread carefully the enemies weren't ordinary cultist to possess hightech weapons.
He retrieved his phone and dialled a number.
"Yes! You are speaking with Inspector Timi!
I hope I'm speaking with Etop Ime from the ministry of housing!
I need an electronic copy of the document of a two storey building in Ikono, the west part of University of Uyo Campus!
Yea! Send it to my mail" He concluded the call and slipped his phone into his pocket. He signalled to the driver.
"Uniuyo senate building".



★Sugar mountain Crib★

Philip and his crew stood before the regional head of the sugar boys. The regional head of the sugar boys controlled the activities of the sugar boys in Akwaibom state. He was called Darkness. A tall, dark man with a muscular physique. He was a brute enforcer who instilled fear into anyone he comes across.
The atmosphere in the room was tensed. "Who are wa! Who called for the hit" Darkness screamed.
"Boss let me rerun the matter" Philip pleaded.
"Rerun fire! You killed the parambus in my own house and my intel told me that my house has beeb raided! I fit play una tradition" Darkness screamed.

My own boyfriend been deh mate with woman, he no deh gree come meeting so i been yarn our cartel lord Doctor and he anoint me with the power to silence the bitch for it is capped that in the sugar ministry! too much sugar in the sugar of the kariabities will cause diabates"Philip capped.
"Your man sabi say you don silence his woman?" Darkness asked.
"Boss i ko yarn am later" Philip said.
"We gast clear our path as them parambus don enter road now call doctor yarn am say make all boys mellow in peace and hide under the feather!" Darkness said and stood up.
"How we ko take clear matters now with dem parambus?" Philip asked.
"Via reasoning with bar" Darkness coughed as he sniffed in the codeine wrap in his hands.
"Call me any lawrence wey deh outside tell am make him come service me, Bleep deh worry me" Darkness said to one of the men who stood with Philip.
Philip searched for his phone in his pocket but couldn't find it he was alarmed and scared.

He searched around the room but still couldn't find it. The thought of the police with his phone made him sick in the stomach. He thought of what to do but couldn't figure out anything.
"Bleep all parambus" he screamed.


★Medical Centre★

Harry felt like a super hero, the blood transfusion had been successful as Harry blood group was a universal donor. He felt proud of him self as he sang 'Power rangers by Teni'.
"How she deh na?" Harry asked.
"Yea she is responding to treatment" The doctor said and patted Harry.
"Guy how fa your babe?" His friends asked in unison.
Harry made some funny dance moves.

Lydia and other girls rushed and hugged Harry.
"Omoh see ikebe!" Peter screamed.
Harry kept on hugging and hugging, hugging and not wanting to let go.

When Praise hugged him he felt her nipples brushed against his chest.
"Omoh this girl no wear bra!" Harry gasped and refused to disentangle from the hug. He held Praise as if his life depended on her.

"Harry your prick don stand" Peter whispered to Harry.
Harry pressed it in between his legs.
"Awwwwn! You are a real man how i wish i have someone as you to love me unconditionally, you donated tonnes of your blood without thinking twice, you were ready to die for Vera! I admire you" Lydia confessed.
"Ahhhhh! I de blush, stopam i deh blush" Harry said and everyone laughed.
"Make i introduce my brothers, standing by my right is Peter otherwise known as Eli, standing by my left is Okon otherwise known as Goliath and finally, futhermore, with emphasis standing by my bottom is Udoh otherwise known as Adam" Harry introduced. The men flashed their 32(s) as waved. The girls laughed until their 'mouth bled'.
"You guys are weird" Veronica said.
"Ok let's go and catch some drinks" Harry said.
"No let's see Vera first" Praise said and they all marched to meet the doctor.

They were allowed into her ward. Harry moved closer and held her hands and kissed her forehead.
Eventhough, she was pale and unconcious but her ethereal beauty wasn't hidden.
"I promise that any bastard that caused you pains, I'll kill and destroy them, i am here with you as a warrior, a master, a fighter, a killer and a lover! I'll prepare my spear for any enemy! They will haff to kill me before they reach you but before they kill me I'll tear them and eat them. When they blow me I'll stagger, when they blow me again I'll stagger and when they blow me again I'll fall when i stand up again, they will blow me and I'll stagger then I'll bring out my hunting spear and shook every part of their body. I promise they won't touch you again" Harry sobbed. The girls were moved to tears.
"Don't worry Harry! everything will be alright nothing will happen to Vera" Lydia comforted Harry.

"Uncle Harry please lead us in prayers" Praise said.

After the series of arguement lydia prayed because Harry and his crew were bunches of empty skulls.

Smart panted as he jogged into the waiting room. He breezed past the nurses and spotted Lydia.
"How about Vera?" Smart asked but Vera eyed him in contempt.
"You are just arriving now just bundle yourself to the doctor" Lydia said and walked past him.
He ran to Praise "Please tell me that Vera is alive". Smart said.
"Vera is fine" Praise replied.
Smart spotted a man on white overall.
"Please doctor are you in charge of Vera a lady who was shot?" Smart asked.
"Yea! Who are you to her?" The doctor raised his eyebrows and adjusted his sethoscope.
"Her boyfr--- oh! sorry, her fiance" Smart said scratching his head.
"You said you are what?" The doctor raised his brows again.
"I said I'm her fiance" Smart replied.
"Good heavens! Someone came here claiming to be her lover and donated blood for her" The doctor said.
Smart held his head in anger, the hairs on his nape stood still.
"Doctor can you hear yourself a stranger donated blood to my lady" Smart roared.
"Hold your tongue youngman! the lady in question was dying everyone volunteered their blood but it didn't match we were lucky to meet a universal donor. In the medical field we value life first before sentiment" The doctor rapped.
Smart nodded with an evil grin he saw this as a 'world opportunity to give the devil his due'.
"And where is the bastard that claimed to be Vera's lover?" Smart asked with fist folded.
"He is right there" The doctor pointed to Harry who already heard the conversation.
"Na me that boy deh call bastard" Harry said and moved briskly towards Smart with clenched fist.
The doctor jerked in suprise "what did you guys want to do?"
"Make i teach am how to respect him papa" Harry roared.

Chapter 11
★The Ultimate Battle★

Philip and his crew ran for cover as hot water jets splashed in every corner of the building.
"Bleep" Philip muttered. In nitro speed he raced amidst incoming water jets released by the police and hid beside the window. He scrutinised the area and found out that the officers weren't much he knew the officers might call for reinforcement, He had to be quick.
He signalled his men and they raced down the stairs.
He sighted an officer and shot him on the chest. The rest of the police officers opened fire on them. Philip retrieved the dead officer's revolver and retaliated. He and his men hid where they could have a good view of the entrance.The first two men who entered the building was shot dead and Most of the officers were down because Philip was a pro.

Officer Timi an inspector had called for more officers from his unit and wondered what kept them waiting. He tried to guess the number of men in the building but couldn't. He moved closer to the entrance of the building his gun lowered and peeped briefly but couldn't find anybody. He just wished they had come with the teargas, it would have smoked the entire building. He stood with four men at strategic point watching the building keenly.
He heard a vehicle approaching and sighed in relief but was shocked to see a mini bus with no plate number and ten armed men alighted. He tried to look at their faces but all of them were masked.
Four men moved tactically into the building while six stood at strategic points.
Doctor felt a light tap on his back and turned swiftly to see Officer Timi pointing a gun at him.
"Shhh" Timi said and pointing the gun at him but Doctor reflex was sharp, he immediately held the gun muzzle and sent a jab to Timi.
Timi staggered and held a car for support. Other officers were alerted and they stood out from their hideout. Doctor retrieved his pistol and fired at Timi but missed as Timi ducked and rolled over. The officers exchanged fire with the sugar boys but no one was shot as the both parties shot from a safe position. The four men soon came out with Philip and the crew and joined in the gun battle. The police soon stopped shooting as they ran out of bullet.
The sugar men hopped into their bus and drove out in high speed.
"Should we go after them?" One of the men asked Officer Timi.
"Those boys are not ordinary cultist! their expertise in handling the game scared me" Timi said and rubbed his bleeding nose. They froze in alarm as another vehicle drove in.
"Bleep you! What kept you guys?" Timi screamed.
"We were delayed at the station" a corporal replied.
"Let's move in" Timi ordered.

They moved into the building, their eyes scanning every nook and corner of the building.
"Highly sophisticated weapons!" Timi gasped as he examined the bullet shell from a baretta pistol.

"Ahoy sir! you need to see this" An officer said into a walkie talkie.
"Aye! I'll join you in a moment"

"Damn!" Timi gasped as he sighted a pale female in a pool of blood with a bullet hole on the stomach region. He moved closer and examined her.
"Yippee! Her breathing is faint" Timi muttered excitedly. "Call the ambulance! We have a link on this case". Timi said and stood up. "Seal up this building and reach out for the owners!" Timi said and returned his pistol to its hostler.


★Okon Eket★

Harry returned home drained. The day was real bad as he got into quarrel with almost everyone he met on the street. He heaved a sigh and retrieved a flask of soup from the refrigerator. He turned the soup into a pot and placed it on the gas cooker. He whistled continuously as he watched the pot of soup on the fire. After the soup was done he made to boil water for starch but he felt no apetite. He took the pot of soup to his room and placed it on a food locker. A strange feeling of weakness engulfed him and he layed still.
His ringing tone made him jerk and he retrieved the phone and sighed when he couldn't identify the number.
Harry: hello
Strange caller: am i speaking with Harry?

Harry: Yes!
Strange caller: are you the one dating Vera paul.
Harry: Y...es
Strange caller: your girlfriend cheated and used you to her own gain.
Harry: Who you be?
Strange caller: just a concerned friend, you have been sending huge amount of money to her. I just pity you.
Harry felt two creatures feasting on his chest.
Harry: madam if you no get better thing to say, shutup and die.
The call was disconnected.
He felt something warm on his chest and made to touch it. Two rats jumped off his chest.
"Ahhh!" Harry screamed in alarm as the two rats hopped towards the pot of soup. The rats struggled with the pots as it obstructed their passage and was able to fall the small pot of soup which wasn't balanced on the food locker. Harry couldn't bear the shock of his favourite delicacy being messed up. He chased after the rat in anger. He spotted one of it on the locker and launched himself to grab it but missed squarely. The other rat climbed his twelve spring mattress and he flew like a superman to grab it but the rat escaped and he ended up hitting his head against the wall. He started sobbing. The rats ran over the room.
"Na me and una deh pay house rent?"Harry cried. He stood up and grabbed a pestle and chased after the rats, he forget the ogbonno soup that spilled on the floor and he stepped into the soup and fell like a bag of garri.
"Merciful fada! I haff break my bones" Harry cried.

The fall alerted the neighbourhood and his friends ran to his apartment and knocked.
"Harry wetin happen?" Okon asked.
"My enemies haff suceed my life" Harry sobbed.
Okon and Peter unlocked the door and was shocked to see Harry on the floor with a pestle with soup spilled everywhere, they noticed two big rats feasting on a left over bread.
"Harry, na rat you been deh pursue with pestle?" Okon asked.
"You no see as the rat big?" Harry replied clutching his legs.
"Harry, you don break your leg make i ko bring medicine" Peter said as he helped Harry to the bed and left.
Okon bent down and picked the pieces of meat and fish into his mouth.
"Okon you deh mad! Why you deh chop my meat" Harry screamed.
"The soup don contaminate na" Okon replied still munching the meat.
"Okon help me kill the rat na?" Harry begged.
"I be Goliath! I no de battle animals but principals, powers and headmasters in high places, i don't battle flesh and blood because my name is Goliath! Allelujah!!" Okon stated.
"I believe your madness everly!" Harry replied.
"Na your papa mad! Upon say, you don break leg you still deh insult abi? If i pray for you, you ko de waka with crutches" Okon said.
"I rebuke you in Jehovah name" Harry pointed a hand towards him. "Anything you pray shall happen to your family and friends" Harry said.
"So you no be my friend?" Okon mocked.
"I can never be a friend to a black masquerade!" Harry fired.
Peter returned shortly with a tube of aboniki balm.
He applied the balm on Harry's leg and massaged it. Harry on feeling the heat started screaming and shivering.
"Harry respect yaself! no deh cry here like small pikin" Peter warned.
Harry's ringing tone interrupted them, he reached for the phone and cursed the strange caller again.
Harry: i no get your time now! Iwang!!
Strange caller: Vera is dead.
Harry: You deh smoke abi? Why you deh jones me na.
Strange caller: All what i told you earlier is not a lie! Vera is in the hospital dead as we speak.
Harry: Wetin do am?
Strange caller: Come to PENNIEL SPECIALIST HOSPITAL Uyo and find out.
The call was disconnected.
"Your girlfriend don die?" Peter asked shocked.
Harry was shocked beyond measures.
"She no fit die!" He mummured.
"Morrow morning! I ko land Uyo" Harry said, tears rolled down his cheeks.
"No worries! Na us ko follow you go but make i draw your leg so dat you ko fit walka" Peter said and continued the massage session.
"I don die" Harry screamed.
"The thing no deh pain person na" Okon said.
"God ko punish una!!!"
Harry began vibrating, jerking and screaming.
"Hold am na spirit deh possess am" Peter said.
