Brazilian international defender David Luiz has signed for us in a permanent transfer from Chelsea.

The 32-year-old centre back has a wealth of experience and has made 524 club appearances in a career spanning 13 seasons.

Luiz started his career with Vitoria in Brazil, before moving to Portugal where he played for Benfica. He also had two spells with Chelsea and spent two years in France with Paris Saint-Germain, where he played under Unai Emery. He has 56 international appearances for Brazil to his name.

Unai Emery said: "David has huge experience and I look forward to working with him again. He is a well known player and adds to our defensive strength."

David will wear the number 23 shirt.

The transfer is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.

Abuja based model and business man, Theodore Ogbeyi has cried foul play after he was allegedly scammed online, by one Sharon Tjimbunduñ, a Namibian national, who according to her bio on Instagram claims to be a Sports Anchor and Content creator.

Ogbeyi and Tjimbundu have been communicating for a while, and both agreed to pursue a business interest here in Nigeria together.


Upon agreement, the former sent her 1,500 USD for her flight into Nigeria. It started to dawn on the model, that he might have been scammed by the Namibian, who stopped answering calls, and replying emails after she got the money.

Ogbeyi vows to do all within his powers to make the self-styled Sports Anchor pay for this act, and this include, contacting the Immigration to ensure she does not step a foot into Nigeria in the future.

The Justice and Equity Forum (JEF) has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to withdraw its case against Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke, former Attorney-General of the Federation, in the light of new revelations at the ongoing OPL 245/Malabu trials in Milan, Italy.

In a statement signed by the co-conveners, Alhaji Idris Kainji and Comrade Adebowale Peters, the civil rights organisation also said that in the money laundering case filed against Adoke at the Federal High Court, Abuja, by the EFCC, “there is not a single mention of OPL 245 and Malabu in the court papers and this must be considered curious under any circumstance”.

The Forum, however, commended Mr Ibrahim Magu, the EFCC chairman, for the progress Nigeria has recorded in the anti-graft war under his watch but said Magu, like all human beings, is not perfect and should be supported and encouraged by all Nigerians in discharging his duties no matter whose ox is gored.

The group said: “On Wednesday, the 17th of July, in Milan, Italy, Mr. Vincenzo Armanna, the former ENI manager who is standing trial over the Malabu scandal, told the court that Adoke warned ENI officials against discussing kickbacks and threatened them with arrest. This is the same Adoke that is being accused of collecting kickback from the deal. That doesn’t add up at all,” the group said.

“We also note that on Thursday, 27th of June, Mr. Ednan Tofik ogly Agaev, a former Russian diplomat who is also being tried over the scandal, told the Italian court that he was pressured under interrogation by the FBI to mention Adoke’s name as one of the recipients of the bribes reportedly paid to government officials in the deal. In fact, Agaev refused to adopt the FBI interview in court because, according to him, he did not mean for it to be used. He effectively confessed making a false accusation against Adoke. In a court of law, this will certainly kill the case except there is anything else to it.

“We at the Justice and Equity Forum thereafter applied for and got a certified true copy of court papers in the case filed against Adoke by the EFCC at the Federal High Court in Abuja alleging money laundering. We went through the charges line by line and to our utmost surprise, nowhere did the EFCC mention that Adoke collected bribe. Yet what the EFCC continues to tell the public is that Adoke is on trial for collecting $2.2 million bribe from the Malabu deal. Nowhere in the court papers does EFCC make any reference to bribe or Malabu. This is very strange.

“As a human rights body, we cannot close our eyes to these facts. We fully support the EFCC in its Malabu investigations but charges should be based on verifiable facts, not on circumstantial and weak grounds. Adoke has said in several newspaper interviews that the powerful toes he stepped upon when he was in office are the ones now using the EFCC to fight him. Whether or not he stepped on toes, if he has done any wrong, he should not run away. He should come back home and face trial. That is our position. However, he seems justified to cry political vendetta in the Malabu case because the court case does not accuse him of collecting a bribe, yet that is not the impression being given to Nigerians.”

The Forum also commended the EFCC for donating a property forfeited by the late Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh, to the Voice of Nigeria (VON).

“We recommend that all forfeited properties should be taken over by government agencies. That will save us the cost of paying rents every year, which by our calculations run into billions of naira. We, however, urge the EFCC to make sure due process is followed in dealing with forfeited properties. We are not sure the EFCC has the power to take a property belonging to the federation and hand it over to someone else. It is a commendable initiative that must be rooted on legal grounds. If EFCC does not have such powers, then the right thing must be done. If any law has to be amended, then is should be amended,” the Forum said.

The Abuja Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, July 18, 2019 arraigned one Charles Ufuoma Onodavberoh before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja on a 10-count charge, bordering on obtaining by false pretence.

The defendant was arrested by the Bank Fraud Unit of the EFCC following a petition by two complainants, namely: Mrs. Nsikat Edem Udoh and Alhaji Muhammed Idris, (first and second complainants respectively), who alleged that he collected huge sums of money from them and presented them with a purported Irrevocable Bank Commitment for a Standby Letter of Credit with a face value of $150,000,000.00 (One Hundred and Fifty Million United States Dollars), issued by PT Bank Negara, Indonesia (Persero) TBK for the building of a $500,000,000.00 modula refinery in Cross River State.

Onodavberoh was also alleged to have further collected $15,000 (Fifteen Thousand Dollars) and a the sum of N1,600,000 (One Million Six Hundred Thousand Naira) from the first complainant, Mrs. Nsikat Edem Udoh as well as the sum of N3,800,000 (Three Million Eight Hundred Thousand Naira) from the second complainant, Alhaji Muhammed Idris.

One of the count reads: "That you Charles Ufuoma Onodaveroh on or about 13th July, 2017 at Abuja in the Abuja Judicial Division of the Federal High Court, did by false pretence, and with intent to defraud obtained from one Mrs. Nsikat Edem Udoh the sum of $15,000.00 (Fifteen Thounsand United States Dollars) by presenting a purported Irrevocable Bank Commitment for a Standby Letter of Credit with a face value of 150,000,000.00 (One Hundred and Fifty Million United States Dollars) issued by PT. Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) TBK for the building of a $500,000,000.00 (Five Hundred Million USD) Modula Refinery in Cross River State, Nigeria and thereby committedan offence contrary to Section 1 (1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act."

He pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him, prompting the prosecution counsel, Offem I. Uket to ask the court for a trial date and for the defendant to be remanded in prison custody, pending trial.

The defence counsel, however, made a bail application, which the prosecution didn't object to.

Justice Ojukwu granted him bail in the sum of N50,000,000 (Fifty Million naira) and one surety in like sum, who must present evidence of tax payment from 2016 to 2018, two passport photographs and international passport.

He remanded him in Kuje Prisons, Abuja and adjourned the matter to September 25 and 26, 2019 for commencement of trial.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Port Harcourt's Zonal Office have arrested a notorious FaceBook accounts hacker, Okohwan Kelvin; he was arrested recently in Warri, Delta State.

His arrest followed discreet monitoring of his online activities, based on complaints from members of the public alleging that he hacked and took over their FaceBook accounts, after they clicked on a phisting link he sent to them.

Preliminary investigations showed that Kelvin had hacked about one hundred FaceBook accounts using phishing links generated from an online hacking website.

It was also discovered that the suspect was selling hacked FaceBook accounts to other fraudsters who were using them for various nefarious online activities. In some cases, he used many of the accounts himself to defraud friends of his victims.

He would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
