PoliticsPatience Jonathan, Turai Yar’adua To Settle Land Dispute Out Of Court. by nolongtin(op): 9:43am On Jul 25, 2012
A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court Sitting in Bwari Area Council has ordered Hajia Turai Yar’Adua, wife of late President Yar’Adua and the current First lady, Dame Patience Jonathan to report back to court over the out of court settlement on a disputed 1.84 hectares of land in Abuja.

The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister Of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, had informed the presiding judge of the court, Justice Peter Affen, that the Federal Government has made arrangement for an out of court settlement.

The disputed land, plot no. 1347 Cadastral Zone AOO, Central Business District, Abuja, FCT, was initially allocated to Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WAYEF) while Mrs. Yar’adua was First Lady.

The Minister of the FCT, Bala Mohammed revoked the allocation for what he described as “overriding public interest” and reallocated the same land to Mrs. Jonathan for the building of African First Lady Peace Mission Headquarters on the 2nd of November, 2011.

Mrs. Yar’Adua complained that the land allocated to WAYEF on 19 February 2010 was being trespassed upon by Mrs. Jonathan and got a court order dated 5 March 2012 restraining the defendants from affecting WAYEF title and interest over the land.

Those joined as co-defendants in the suit are the Minister of FCT, Federal Capital Administration and the Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS).

Reacting to the plea for an out of court settlement, Mr. Lagi Innocent, Counsel to WAYEF confirmed to the court that his clients have been approached for an out of court settlement but added that this was not the first time the defendants were making such moves.

He mentioned that WAYEF had already began the process of notice of committal to prison on the defendants by filing forms 48 and 49 adding that it was unfortunate that people could no longer trust the government in the country.

While adjourning the case to 24 September 2012 for report of settlement, Justice Affen “advised parties that the nature of the case is such that if parties can reach amicable settlement it would be better for all sides.”

PoliticsRe: Ogun State Local Government Elections-updates by nolongtin(op): 11:42am On Jul 23, 2012
As the state Independent Electoral Commission released the results of the poll, the main opposition parties, the People’s Democratic Party and the People’s Party of Nigeria kicked, rejecting the outcome of the exercise.

The electoral body said the ACN recorded a landslide victory in the council poll winning 19 chairmanship seats out of the 20 in the state.

OGSIEC added that the ruling party won 217 councillorship seats, while the PDP and the PPN won eight and one councillorship seats respectively.

The commission withheld the results of Imeko-Afon Local Government council pending the determination of a court order in respect of the poll in the area.

The OGSIEC Chairman, Alhaji Risikat Ogunfemi, added that Certificates of Return would be presented to the elected council chairmen on Monday.

The conduct of the polls had reportedly been marred by low turnout, irregularities and violence.

The PDP and PPN have however cried foul over the results of the council poll, demanding a cancelation of the election.

Former Senior Special Assistant to former president Olusegun Obasanjo on Political Matters, Dr. Gbolade Osinowo, demanded the cancellation of the results, particularly in Ijebu North Local Government Area.

Osinowo, at a news conference on Sunday in Ijebu Igbo, said the council election was an assault on democracy.

He alleged that rather than declaring the results of the council poll at the ward level as stipulated by the electoral guidelines, “OGSIEC went to Abeokuta and started dishing out fictitious results”.

He said the irregularities would be challenged at the Local Government Election Petitions Tribunal.

In the same vein, the chairman of the state PDP Caretaker Committee, Chief Ireti Oliyide, said the results were unacceptable to his party.

Also, the Bayo Dayo faction of the party in the state described the poll as “elaborate sham”.

The Director of Organisation of the faction, Mr. Segun Sowunmi, alleged in a statement that the election was characterised by massive rigging and other electoral irregularities.

PPN Director of Organisation, Deji Kalejaiye, in a statement said it was “disheartening to witness OGSIEC and other security agencies involved in the election openly declaring support for the ruling Party.”

PoliticsOgun State Local Government Elections-updates by nolongtin(op): 10:37am On Jul 21, 2012
Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission, OGSIEC, is set to conduct local government elections in the state tomorrow.
The OGSIEC has begun preparations ahead of the controversial elections in which one of the opposition parties, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had gone to court to restrain the commission not to exclude its candidate from contesting in the polls.
At the OGSIECs office yesterday, amidst tight security, all the materials needed for the elections were seen taken away by the electoral officers in charge of the 20 Local Government Areas in the state.
A source at the OGSIEC’s office told our correspondent that the state government has provided all the necessary support to the Commission, adding that,”we have no excuse not to organise free and fair elections in the state.
Meanwhile, there are at least 100 mobile policemen stationed around the commission to forestall crisis, restricting movement of people in and out of the premises.
As at this morning, more security agents have been deployed to the state to beef up security to ensure a hitch-free election. Also there is restriction of movement from 8.am to 3.pm tomorrow in the state to forestall any problem during election.
Seventy seven chairmanship candidates would be contesting for the 20 seats while there are at least 500 councillorship candidates for the 236 wards in the state.

Music/RadioRe: D’banj – Oyato by nolongtin(m): 11:25am On Jul 15, 2012
revomind: I'll be real with y'all.

This is Dbanj. Hated and regarded as 'talentless'. We're on the sixth page analysing what he referred to as his first African single. You can make of that whatever you will.

Dbanj's tracks have always been so-so (even though many were phat party tunes). Dbanj was at the height of his powers in the superb (in that sense) Entertainer album and in the Mo' hits compilation album. From there on, his tunes have been sluggish and have even deteriorated from the not-so-great standards he set for himself. It is hypocritical to call this 'Oyato' jam wack and then praise 'Oliver Twist' and 'Mr Endowed'. I'm yet to get over the horror of those songs and to be honest, for the first time since he dropped 'Rundown : Funk You Up', I wasn't looking forward to any of his jams. I thought Don Jazzy and Dbanj had gotten too complacent and what's more the running of the label appeared shoddy to me, there was some sort of rotation which meant the quite talented Wande Coal and the commercial monster Dbanj had to wait for the mediocre DPrince and Dr Sid to drop their own solo joints. But I digress.

The truth is 'Oyato' in consideration of Dbanj's limited lyrical ability is a better joint that his last two major singles I mentioned above. The lyrics made more sense even though I sense he threw some cheap shots at his erstwhile partners and friends. That's understandable though . So if you are so willing to condemn this considerably better effort, we need to know why. You were dickriding the whole mo' hits crew when it was only wande coming close to lyrical maturity. So what changed?

Hate?

Envy?

Ethnic sentiments?

Dbanj will never be a lyrical powerhouse. As long as he stands, only one thing will be expected from him. Make the club move and entertain. I fail to see how this track wouldn't do that.

Big ups to j-sleek, an under-rated producer in my own books. He's been doing some great work with 2face over the years. With another big-name client like this, his stock just has to rise.

Cut Moin Moin

"Ewe eran" leaves (Thaumatococcus daniellii)
Moinmoin or Moyi-Moyi is a Nigerian steamed bean pudding made from a mixture of washed and peeled black-eyed beans, onions and fresh ground peppers (usually a combination of bell peppers and chilli or scotch bonnet). It is a protein-rich food that is a staple in Nigeria. Some adaptations also put apples in MoinMoin. It originates from South-west Nigeria.
Moin moin is prepared by first soaking the beans in cold water until they are soft enough to remove the fine outer covering or peel. Then they are ground or blended (using a blender) until a fine paste is achieved. Salt, bouillon cube, dried crayfish, vegetable oil (or any edible oil such as palm oil) and other seasonings are added to taste. Some add sardines, corned beef, sliced boiled eggs, or a combination of these and other 'garnishes' to liven up moin moin. Such is referred to as having 'x' number of lives, 'x' representing the number of garnishes added. The most touted is "moin moin elemi meje", which translates to moin moin with 7 lives.
Moin moin usually comes in a slanted pyramid shape or a cylindrical shape, owing to the mold it is poured into prior to cooking. The pyramid shape comes from the traditional broad "ewe eran" (Thaumatococcus daniellii) or banana leaves fashioned into a cone in one's palm, then the seasoned and garnished liquid is poured into the leaves, which is then folded.
The cylindrical shapes come from empty cans of tomato sauce used in preparation of other dishes. Once placed in its mold, it is placed in a large pot about a tenth filled with water. The water is the source of steam that cooks the moin moin. Moin moin is eaten alone or with bread as a snack, with rice as a meal or with ogi (corn or millet porridge) for breakfast or supper. it can also be taken with garri in the afternoon.

samuelee1: Ok, blackburn & leeds may av bin relegated, bt dia history certainly isnt, dats wat archives are 4. Dey relegated because dey were mismanaged, and mismanagement can hapn 2 any club, includn ur belovd arsenal. Wat i'm sayin is dat 2 win big trophies in modern futbol, u nid 2 spend, u tel me a club dats wining big trophies dat dint invest in players by spending. See barca 4 example, dey've bin dominating 4 quite a while now, bt it dint cum easy, dey spent big moni on players, r.madrid spent lyk £200m in buyin CR7, kaka & benzema, and dey're now reaping dia benefits. Take mancity as anoda example, 4rm a midtable club, dey started spendin big, buyin d lyks of tevez, silva, aguero, y.toure...and c dem now, dey won d FA Cup and league in 2yrs. C d lyks of nasri, clichy, flamini, fabregas and adebayor who left arsenal after growin tired of being trophyless, goin 2 clubs dat spend big, dey are nw wining trophies 4 fun. D examples can go on and on, im sure u get my point. Arsenal are a great club, dy play gud futbol, bt dy jst av 2 spend 2 start wining trophies again. I stand 2 b corrected.
Man try to understand why,how a big football club should run .leeds ,black burn spent wot they dont have,no big enuffan base to baill them out when they got into trouble ,same with portsmoth, they spent wot they dont have they are in shit. Big clubs like barca, madrid, man u do same but they have the followership ,worldwide appeal to get in funds when needed.do u know how barca n madrid get their funds?is it legal?is it sustainable?spain is a poor country compared to oder countries no resources,no big coydo u know some yrs back spain was a 3rd world country?,all they have in spain is real madrid, barca and holiday spots.so the country allows them to do wot wont be allowed in normal countries, barca n madrid are so much in debt but the country/council bail them out when in trouble, will that be allowed in england?if man u is not as massive as it is do u know they will be a forgoting team with the debt they owe?but big teams with massive fan base n support will always pull tru, small team will crash.man city, chelsea, are small teams living in a transient and Ephemeral glory. The finicial law comes into play soon lets see the clubs that will survive, lets c dos dat will fall by d way side dats when u know whos big or not.in ur economics u no the laws of demand n supply yeah?why is arsenal more expensive to watch in england dan all oder clubs?more expensive dan manu, chelsea, etc.the most expensive in the worldquote me.The reason more peeps want to watch arsenal dan the capacity can take.its 60k stamford bridge is 41k yet not always full why?its in london which is expensive, man u is in manchester and d locals cannot afford to pay top dollar.

Beowulf: So you are knocking Arsenal for buying a striker (Podolski) which they felt they needed at the time instead of Hulk (a midfielder)? This just about sums up your knowledge of footie. Your argument that if Podolski was a class player all Europe top clubs would be queuing for him is fallacious. Pirlo is class but was a free agent last season! Clubs go for players they need not players they want to just stick on their benches. Do you know how many strikers competing at City? So much so that Ade had to go on loan for some game time last season. If City bought Podolski where will he fit in? Let's not even talk about the wage bill. Real Madrid is already maxed out in terms of strikers so where will he fit in? Chelsea is keeping faith with Torres and prolly feels they don't need an additional striker. When Henry went to Arsenal how many clubs were after him? When Fabregas went to Arsenal how many clubs were gunning for him. RVP is arguably the hottest attacker in Europe right now but how many clubs are really interested in him despite his having had a blinding se
ason? Answer: Most top clubs feel they don't need striking additions (so far). The economic situation in Europe is also affecting footie too. Very few clubs in Europe like Man City, United, Chelsea, Real and Barca shop at the high end. The rest shop at the lower reaches of transfer prices. The economic downturn is already affecting Real (sponsored by the Spanish govt) and Barca (who owe banks millions) Negredo and Llorente in Spain had fantastic seasons but how many "top" clubs are lining up for their signatures?

Mind you chelsea bidded for oliver giroud ,but he choose arsenal instead.wenger encouraged the board about moving to a new stadium the y where sceptical @ first because of money and wit agreement agreed to cost cost and tighten der belts to acheive dis.which is a great compliment to wenger cus oder team b4 arsenal in d league dat tried such went straight into relegation.

Beowulf: So according to your logic Henderson of Liverpool (€25M) (I stand to be corrected) Carroll of Liverpool (€30M), David Bently of Spurs (€16M) are all quality players because of their price tags? Everyone knows that the market in football is highly overpriced. Footballers like any merchandise is always subject to bargains. Sometimes you get a basement deal that turn out fantastic and sometimes you get the pricy merchandise that turn out a dud. I disagree that the price tag of a player is directly proportional to his ability, quality or intrinsic worth. Sometimes it is sometimes it is not.

Your argument that Podolski, a German international, one of the first names on the German team sheet, the youngest capped player in Europe is cack because he played in a relegated club doesn't hold water. It is like saying that Lukaku is a better player to Podolski because he played for a team that won the UCL and the FA cup.

Arsenal Football Club (2006–)
Ashburton Grove, known for sponsorship reasons as the Emirates Stadium or simply The Emirates, is an association football stadium located in Islington, North London, England. It is the current home of Arsenal Football Club. At a capacity of 60,361, the Emirates is the third-largest football stadium in England after Wembley and Old Trafford and fourth-largest in the United Kingdom.
In 1997, Arsenal started exploring the possibility of relocating to a new stadium, having been denied planning permission by Islington Council to expand its then home ground of Highbury. After considering various options, the club settled on purchasing an industrial and waste disposal estate in Ashburton Grove and submitted their planning brief to the public in 2000. In spite of opposition to the move by local residents and club shareholders, Arsenal succeeded in winning the council's approval to which manager Arsène Wenger later described as being the "biggest decision in Arsenal's history since the board opted to bring Herbert Chapman to the club in 1925."[3] Estate relocation work began in August 2002 and commenced four months later. Financing for the stadium proved difficult, resulting in the club delaying work until February 2004. Emirates Airline was later announced as the main sponsor for the stadium in October 2004 and work reached completion in July 2006 at a cost of £390 million.
The stadium has undergone a process of 'Arsenalisation' beginning in August 2009, with the aim of restoring the club's heritage and history. The ground has frequently hosted music concerts and several international fixtures featuring the Brazil national football team. The stadium will be a host venue for the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England.
