Let me give you my story, perhaps it could help you. As a fresh graduate, I immediately began my masters in Nigeria and simultaneously got 2 job offers with multinational companies here in Nigeria. Good pay, cozy lifestyle, everything picture perfect. Then I had a scholarship to study somewhere in the Scandinavia. new language, new people new challenges. I was in this same valley of decision you find yourself now. I considered some factors. 1-Age*- was on my side 2- The salary looked big initially, however responsibilities would soon outgrow the salary. In the long run it was not sustainable. 3- I needed some adventure. 4-Delayed Gratification I took study leave from my place of work and left. That was one of the best decisions of my life so far. I transverse from Europe to America. It was worth it cause after I finished my Masters , I had far better job offers and PhD research positions from different companies/Institutions. I was confused on what to do with my life because I loved ALL the offers I got. Funny enough, they all came during the same period. I had to take the harder choice. My Opinion. SOME work space, especially in the Nigerian work settings (Even in multinational companies) can be toxic very. Take that risk. Job no dey finish. I want to assume that for you to get these offers, you are probably a smart dude. Hunger no go kill you even if you dont find a job after graduation. you would have an experience you could treasure for a life time. Its not always about the money. Money would definitely come somehow somwhere. Cheers Disclaimer: The above write-up is strictly the opinion of nonexy11. It should be followed at users risk. |
The last time I checked, B.Sc/B.Eng, HND, ND.2.1 was NOT a criteria |
Its based on your experience,. It is an open, free and fair company in terms of recruitment. Do your best, stand out and get hired. |
I was in the same shoe last year and I asked myself some pertinent questions and I recommend that you do too. 1-How sustainable is your 183k job? 2-are you acquiring a lifetime skill at your current place of job? 3-think of the opportunity costs. Would you make upto 10million naira in your current place of work in the next 4 years? Ptdf scholarship is worth about 13 million average. 5-are you getting international exposure in your current place of work? 6-how old are you? Do you have the age factor on your side? 7-is that 183k job the best job in the whole world?? I would have loved to ask more but let me pause for now. 8-take advantages of study leave from your employer, he will gladly give it to you. I was in a more difficult delima but I answered this questions.. And took a decision of which I believe I would never regret cos it was the best. Last words... Why settle for crumbs when you can have the whole bakery with just a little patience, and hardwork? *Sorry for the typos, I had to do this on transit.. |

Okay okay, its been a while..this thread has been quiet for some time...we no longer share what we are currently reading.i personally have benefitted alot from the short book reviews I get here and I go out searching for books recommended here also. "For men only" is what I am currently reading, its a great book written by a collection of renowned authors. I will strongly recommend this book for young men and for mothers who want to raise boys to be men of "sterling worth" , who could but only command respect where ever morality and excellence of character is required.. |
Please I need the excel Bible. nonexy11@gmail.com Thanks |
dearpreye:That's a book I have never had the patience to complete.. I remember my mum used it to introduce me into the world of literature. Unfortunately I abandoned it and became a James Hardley chase addict. I may have to go and read it again |
It's the kind of book you 'bend down' and select from those second hand book vendors at Rumokoro roundabout , ( those who stay in portharcourt know what I mean). It's not so easy to get. dearpreye: |
Well, I just concluded 'spin this' by an American journalist called Bill Press. It was a nice read. It exposes an individual to the lies and propaganda associated with the mass media. How news are fine tuned to suit the government of the day. |
Currently reading 'the great controversy' by Ellen White. An interesting and inspiring book indeed. |
