Did you say better alternatives? If you followed the rules first by making sure the land you purchased wasn't on a govt right of way, maybe they wouldn't be victims. As difficult this is, this is an important lesson for many. Although I will suggest the govt sort of give some sort of compensation to the tenants to relocate but it's not the govt's responsibility to do so. Heck people need renters insurance to guard against against landlords that are in high risk of their properties being demolished.
So if you think the never paid Govt to acquire it in the first place then u are not a Nigerian... All the will do is bring an old master plan...

I am not against demolition... But it pains me when Govt demolish peoples houses or places of business without giving them better alternatives or adequate compensation... That's the height of wickedness...

SportsArsenal's Rejected Player Theo Walcott Scores Double For Everton. by Nonnyflex(op):
Theo Walcott may be having his breath of fresh air and broken off the "forces" against him in arsenal and will consequently raise fresh questions... After many top sports analysts have written him off as a player with nothing to offer but speed which is useless.. Well he currently proved almost everyone wrong by scoring 2 goals against Leicester City... And may get a hat trick tonight...

EducationNon Academic Staff Of Universities To Continue Strike Over N66bn Arrears by Nonnyflex(op): 11:52am On Jan 29, 2018
The three non-academic staff unions in the universities have insisted on prolonging the current industrial action until their N66billion earned allowances are fully paid.
The General Secretary of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), Peters Adeyemi, stated.
He spoke on behalf of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU). He said the Federal Government is insincere and adopting divisive approach to restore academic activities in the universities.
He said the N66 billion outstanding is not a big amount that cannot be settled within a few days for a serious government that is in a hurry for national development.
He said, “The government should do well by giving what belongs to the non-teaching staff. When government refuses to pay workers entitlements, it unwittingly put the huge national resources in the hands of looters.”
He also said the Federal Government team spear heading the negotiation has not done enough to halt the strike action since it began on the 4th December 2017.
“On the 19th December 2017 when we met the Federal Government, what it said was that they are working silently to get additional money but they did not want that step to be announced. In fact, if they had matched their words with action, we would not have declared the strike in the first place. But government did not come up with any commitment. We expected government to take responsibility for the skewed payment but that did not happen. We declared the strike on the 4th December and government did not call us for a meeting until the 19th
December 2017. That is the first time money is released to the universities and distributed at the level of the ministry under a committee headed by the Permanent Secretary, leaving Bursars out under a government that is fighting corruption, a government that is talking about transparency and believe in due process.”

PoliticsDrama As High Court Judge Orders Samuel To Pay N9 Million Naira To Herdsman by Nonnyflex(op): 7:55am On Jan 29, 2018
Drama In Ilorin As High Court judge Orders Former Chief of Nigerian Navy Retired Vice Admiral Samuel Afolayan To Pay N9 Million Naira To Herdsman For Arresting 42 Cows Brought To Destroy His Farms
An Ilorin High Court has ordered a retired navy chief, Vice- Admiral Samuel Olajide Afolayan, to pay N9 million being the cost of damages and for detaining 42 cows belonging to a Fulani herdsman, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi, illegally and unconstitutionally.
The verdict, delivered on January 9, 2018, indicated that the retired admiral was also ordered to pay N500,000 for each day of default of the judgement debt.
Justice Adeyinka Sikiru Oyinloye gave the judgment in suit NO.KWS/83M/2017.
The herdsman, Abdullahi, had sought the declaration of the court that the seizure and/or detention of his 60 cows by the respondent was bizarre, unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional.
He also sought the respondent’s unconditionally release of the cows with immediate effect, and another order that the respondent should tender unreserved apology to be published in two national dailies within two weeks of the judgment..
N10m was demanded by the applicant.
According to him, security guards attached to Afolayan had accosted his son outside the farm of the respondent in Obo-Ile in Ekiti local government area of Kwara State and pointed gun at him while he was rearing his cows on May 17 2017 and seized the 60 cows.
According to him, despite frantic efforts to get the cows back, the respondent held on to them, insisting that N5m had to be paid to get them back.
Afolayan in his defence, told the court that the cows were led into his farm on the said day and destroyed his cassava and maize farm worth N2.5m while the applicant burnt his cassava processing plant which made him to insist that he must pay for the losses estimated at N15m, which was later reduced to N5m after pleas.
While delivering his judgment, Justice Oyinloye said though the applicant claimed 60 cows were involved, the respondent admitted seizing only 42.

PoliticsStop Drinking Garri – Governor Okorocha Warns Imo Residents Over Lassa Fever by Nonnyflex(op): 7:02am On Jan 26, 2018
The Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, has warned residents to stop drinking ‘raw garri’ as three persons were confirmed dead in the state as a result of Lassa fever.

The killer disease is rapidly spreading across many parts of the country.

Seven cases of Lassa fever patients were also confirmed in the state.

Mr. Okorocha, who gave the confirmation in a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES through his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, advised indigenes of the state to stop drinking raw garri (cassava flakes) as well as avoid crowded areas.

“This is not the period for people to drink raw garri because you know garri is not cooked and people just pour water on garri and drink and when rat has urinated on the garri. So people are advised as much as possible to ensure that their food is properly cooked,” the governor said.

He said the cases were recorded in some hospitals, “somewhere in Orlu and some other parts of the State.”

The first Lassa fever case this year was confirmed in Ebonyi state more than a week ago.

Four people including three health workers died from the infection in the state.

The disease have further spread to Kogi, Ondo and some other parts of the contry leaving death tolls.

According to Mr. Okorocha, the speed at which the disease is spreading is worrisome.

“This morning we woke up to hear that Lassa fever has killed three persons and we also have seven cases of Lassa fever patients and this number is too large for a State. And we are concerned about the speed of spread.

“These cases were recorded in some hospitals, somewhere in Orlu and some other parts of the State. For this reason, we kindly advise that people should avoid over crowded areas, lessen the shaking of hands, and body contacts at this period,” the governor said.

“The State is on it. The Ministry of Health has been adequately informed to take all necessary steps to curtail the spread.

“We will do everything humanly possible to make sure that this spread is curtailed. While government is taking this action, people should keep a clean and healthy environment at this time, avoid so many children staying in one place while government should handle the burial of those that died of Lassa fever. As you know, Lassa fever is deadly but if any discovery is made, lives can be saved,” he added.

Mr. Okorocha said all the confirmed cases have been put in isolation.

“All the identified cases especially in Orlu, have been isolated and we have told the doctors not to take any more patients and even those in the hospital would be quarantined until such a time we have confirmed they are now positive in any form or shape.”

Lassa fever is a viral infection carried by the multimammate rat (Mastomys natalensis), one of the most common mice in equatorial Africa found across much of sub-Saharan Africa.

The disease is commonly caused by contact with food or household items contaminated with rodent urine or faeces.
