Prudent5217: Hello Ugo4u just a quick question. You know your wisdom always gives me great joy. So for example if a Computer Science graduate chose Ordinance Corp for DSSC during registration, does it mean if he is lucky to be selected the army will assign him to signals Corp. What about business Administration accountancy, banking&finance |

intergral: For those of you applying SSC... Hope you know what it means... Your job is to fight war and the war in Nigeria is real... In the North East every month nothing less than 50 soldiers are being killed every month... So if you are applying SSC and you know what it means (Short Service Combatants) and you're determined to die for your country in war then you're good to go... But if you're applying for the sake of the uniform and looking rugged in the eyes of civilians then my advice is forget about it..... Officer na officer dss/ssc they all go to war, infact all the dss commissioned officers I know had at some point been to the north east for some years or more, while some ssc are still here in their various units SSC screening and training is difficult no doubt.... Just from screening alone you're gonna start having a second thought... As for DSSC it's more of professional work or administrative work.... That doesn't mean you can't fight war ooo, but it is not likely... I wish y'ol the best of luck, I applied for DSSC this year unlike SSC I applied for last year... Before you join anything know what you're getting into... I wish I could secure a good job of 100k+ or even one of the paramilitary like Customs, Civil Defense or Immigration... Which safer for you and me... Disclaimer: I'm not discouraging anybody, am just telling you guys the truth, they will also tell you thesame when you've made the list for the screening.... officer na officer dss/ssc you will taste battle at some point in your career, I have seen dss officer who has been to the north east while ssc are seen in their various units |

sikowitz17: There is something you guys aren't factoring...according to the 2017 hatcos of the military, I believe promotion to different ranking is now 5 years...for rc, SSC and dssc.. Course 44 guys are still 2nd lieutenants oooo...and its almost been 3 years since they passed out..if they get their promotion now, it should be 5 years interval now...which means majority will be retired as majors.. Upon conversion ehn ehn.. We can now talk lieutenant colonel/colonels...some lucky village men will.make brig.. are you serious this is too bad o! Promotion is getting slimmer each year |

ugo4u: Upon commissioning you're incharge of 30 soldiers, the welfare of this men rests on you. You get allowances for operations etc In summary
1) SSC officers are combatants, while dssc officers are not. 2) SSC officers command men, while dssc don't. 3) SSC are to write exams for promotions, dssc don't.. SSC can convert to become RC but dssc convert to become DRC. In terms of making money. Since dssc cannot command, they can never head a unit, platoon, company, battalion, brigade and can never be a GOC. In my own assessment, ladies are better suited for DSSC than SSC because na unnecessary suffer head you won't be posted to a fighting unit at the end most likely you will be posted to other supporting unit according to your course of study, where you will still jam DSSC guys. bros Ugo you will live long for this insight you are too much bro |

What's even the advantage of being an SSC officers over dss cos to me I feel there is non cos the shortchanging starts upon commissioning, imagine your fellow graduates becoming a full fledged lieutenant upon commissioning and you as an ssc will struggle so hard to hang lieutenant someone has already hang |

A DSS commissioned officer of course 17 once told me SSC officers are shortchanged I wondered why she said so, I will appreciate if anyone can support or oppose the clause "shortchanged" in respect to the entire army's type of commissioning |

My dad was a military man,I can't count the number of times he flogged me with his army's belt, kicks me with his boot, chain my hands and legs and trow me under his bed to sleep as guardroom. The worst of it all is the day he asked me to sit on the wet ground under the rain, my spirit left my body because of how cold I felt that day. My dad gets things heated up with his presence, I run when I sight him from a distance, I always prayed for him to be on duty because thats the only time am free like a bird. I love him though, because he taught me how to be independent, I promise not to treat my children the way he treated me. |

ugo4u: They believe they own the military because according to some of them, when SSC guys were flexing in uni/poly they where suffering in NDA. This current set of SSC in training are mates with termer 3 NDA guys upon commissioning, na so them take program am... Prolly to compensate regulars for the 5yrs chawusing.... wow life is so unfair even in the military anyways to whom much is expected (RC) much is given(CHAWUSING) vice versa. |

ugo4u: An officer is an officer just like someone said, the reason the officer that told you about short service guys being short changed might not be unconnected to appointments. Whether you're an SSC or DSSC just serve your fatherland kawaii!! if you join with the expectation to go and be dragging juicy positions you might be frustrated do your soldier work in peace and accumulate positive PR the sky will be ur starting point. you are right an officer is an officer but i feel the promotion system don't favour the ssc guys. A rc officer become a full fledged lieutenant 6 months after pop or even before then, the ssc guys ain't that way why? |

I wont lie to u if am advising anyone it will be ssc if the age is within reach. To me a soldier is a soldier be it ssc or dssc and again when guys and doing 10 things ladies will be doing 6. Although see der some soft landing for dssc but ssc is cool for me. Las las all of us we die der. a serving military officer once said short service officers are shortchanged I still wonder why he said so? |

Prospect048: And to those saying that an RC captain can control a coluto major, one thing I want you to know is that junior officer can't dish out order to a senior officer in the military regardless the form of commissioning. The RCs got more favoured interm of appointments because their colleague RCs are at the helms of affairs and these RCs are one way or the other connected even pass some current generals. Once you are an officer, no discrimination on how order would be dished out, officer na officer no matter the mode of commissioning. Let me chip in to this, the issue of discrimination usually come up between RCs and SSCs because they both meet at same unit, but in d case of dssc, they have no issue together because about rc can't be in the same unit with DSSC. Thanks and remain blessed and hopeful for the form to be released. wow am marveled at your level of military exposure, something tells me you are a military personnel. |
