I had an heart attack out of blues while treating typhoid. And I was the only one at home. My body was stone cold. Just one phone call to my Pastor who stays far away from me but through his prayer emanating from my phone speaker, he was praying and decreeing, my heart came back to life and started throbbing softly, instead hardening up. Cos that's exactly what was happening few minutes before I called him, as I held onto my chest with pepperish pain, and the heart about to become rock solid.
As soon as his prayers were going on thru phone, heat penetrated my body and heart.
I began to feel warmth seep into me. The pain disappeared, my heart felt light, no more dizzy spells. I became OK . After 10mins I could stand up straight and I went for checkup at my hospital.
My doctor did some checkups on me and said its a miracle am alive today .
I smiled weakly and I said it God. He gave me a second chance.
Then he prescribed some drugs for me.

Am better, stronger, healthy and very OK.

That's God's power.

Hi,

I am a London based Nigerian and recently had a baby. With day care being so expensive in London i've found that most of my salary would go on paying nursery fees for my child. In other words, i might as well stay at home and look after the baby myself. My husband works but it would be nice to have some income coming in from my end. As a result, i have considered bringing a nanny/househelp from Nigeria to look after my baby whilst I go back to work, (as a cheaper and more convenient option- Obviously, i plan to give the help a good life here and occasional trips to Nija to see her family!).

Has anyone on here done this? I've occasionally seen Nigerians settling with house helps here calling them cousins, or one relative or another. What are the tricks of the game? any advice would be really helpful. Obviously, i know of the risks i.e running away, social services e.t.c but are there success stories? how would they move from visit visa to permanent residency? I'd be most grateful for your views.

I'd like to know what it takes to be a freelance travel agent.

I usually have some spare time at work and have built a small network of friends that usually require me to help book flights intermittently for them. This network has grown a bit and it got me wondering if I can make some extra income from this venture by getting discounted rates from the airlines on their behalf whilst I get some commission or something.

Any information will be helpful.

You have been really helpful.. To add to it, sabre and amadeus training are free if you apply through a travel agency. So your best option is to go for IT, the agency will send you to be trained by amadeus or sabre.. It's free and the meal is great. It's a week training and you get a certificate after the training. I worked and still a staff of ibat travels and believe me despite the increasing popularity of online booking many people still prefer using agents. They feel secure and insured when you handle their bookings. You just have to start somewhere and your customer base will keep expanding for instance at ibat, their a many of our customers that won't allow anyone handle their booking except ibat. In conclusion go for IT by walking into the office of any travel agent and request that you want to learn ticketing with them. They may not pay you as someone suggested because you will be competing with others that actually went to aviation school.

My sister, do not rent a shop just for selling tickets. Its dead on arrival. People are now buying tickets directly online themselves, airlines are doing away with their ticketing and reservation staff and implementing a a user do-it-yourself interface and sites like wakanow. Com, cheaptickets etc, there is no "wow" factor anymore in the travel agent business.

My advice: get your GDS, source for clients starting from close family and friends(that can trust you with their money) and issue tickets from home.

2. If you must get/use a shop, remember you have to register with the travel agency association, get an IATA certified staff. Once that is settled,you are good to go. You can add courier service (TNT, DHL) by the side. It brings in daily sure income with no risks that would be used for petty expensis.

Cruising , tour packaging and car hire are other areas to be explored.

Long story short : its not a quick money business, takes a lot of patience and dedication. Not a venture for someone without an alternative source of income.

PS: airlines are reducing the commission they give to agents, some don't even give anymore.
