i just remember programmes that i watched when i was little kid that was interesting and i couldn't help but wish i could bring back old time.these are my favorite ones:
Radio: Ogun State Radio(ogbc) every Friday 8 pm: iriri aye by Kola Olawuyi(RIP) ,even though the programme scared me like hell i never missed it, with its scaring underground music.
Television: i can never forget NTA then, when it was still bubbling,i always look forward to tales by moon light every Sunday by 6pm.
'ROYCO LADUN',also a Sunday programme on NTA every evening was a bomb then.
Also,Cyrils Stober and Tokunbo Ajai (RIP) casting the news plus news line that everybody always wanted to watch, also 'telly match' that is mostly shown on public holidays was always what i looked forward to.
Pls you guys can share your favorite and interesting TV and radio programmes when growing up.

Politics / Don’t Admonish Me Like A Schoolchild – Jonathan by not2long(m): 10:13am On Apr 25, 2012
President Goodluck Jonathan says he does not want to be admonished like a schoolchild.

Speaking at a dinner in honour of the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abuja on Monday, Jonathan however told the PDP executives despite being president he was not above the party.

He said he and other members of the Executive arm of government as well as the legislature were ready to respect party supremacy.

Jonathan said, “The President cannot be a king or maximum ruler, the President is elected by the party and must serve the party not the party serving the President. So, if he is deviating, the President must be cautioned so that all will know that the party is supreme and all must all follow the dictates of the party.

“I am not saying the President should be admonished like a primary schoolchild. Nobody in the party from the President to the least person at the ward will be superior to the party. So, you have a lot of challenges in this direction to make sure that you instil that kind of discipline. We will give you maximum cooperation.”

“The PDP is a political party and as a party, we must have guidelines and no matter the office you are holding, the party must be in a position to discipline or admonish Mr. President if he deviates.

“In South Africa, the African National Congress can admonish the President because the party is superior. And that is why in the gathering of the party, the party chairman takes precedence in order of protocol. It shows that the President himself is under the chairman.

Jonathan said he would not take issue with those criticising his administration, saying, “when you are in the ruling party, you must show more maturity”.

The President said, “We must all work to create an avenue where the party will source funding so that if you are the chairman of the party, members of the working committee, you can manage the party without excessive influence of people.

“Even though we expect all moneybags to be in PDP, but we don’t want the moneybags to influence the activities of the party and to stop that of course, we must come up with programmes that will make the party self-sustaining in terms of financing.”

The PDP Chairman, Alhaji Bamagar Tukur, said the party could not be repositioned without internal democracy and discipline.

He urged all party faithful to ensure that they do not work in cross purpose with the government.

not2long: A bomb blast on Saturday night allegedly killed many people watching a football match at a viewing centre in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.

But the Yobe State Police Commissioner Moses Onariti told our correspondent that nobody died in the explosion.

The bomb blast occurred at Nayi-Nawa, a suburb of Damaturu, during a match between two Spanish football clubs, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

An eyewitness said the victims were burnt beyond recognition.

Some of the fans who were not affected by the bomb blast reportedly ran away midway into the game, leaving their shoes behind.

Commissioner of Police Onariti said the bomb blast would teach people a lesson that it is wise to avoid large gathering because of the insecurity in the North.

Politics / I Won’t Collect Salary As Governor, Says Ondo Aspirant by not2long(m): 2:04pm On Apr 23, 2012
A governorship aspirant of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Ondo State, Mr. Segun Abraham, yesterday said the party would lead the Sunshine state to the Promised Land.

The aspirant said he would not collect salary from the state, if elected governor. He said his goal is selfless service.

Abraham said: “ACN will turn around this potentially great state into an industrial hub in accordance with the vision of the founding fathers. Ondo has been slow in development, despite its huge potentials. Ondo must bounce back. An ACN government will develop the state’s agricultural resources and create jobs. Ondo has for long been retarded by bad governance and the time to rescue it by ACN is now.”

Another aspirant, Mr. Felix Rawa, the only aspirant from Ilaje, stressed the need to build the party’s structures across the 18 local governments.

Speaking with reporters in Lagos at the weekend, Rawa said: “It is important for the ACN leadership to give consideration to the fact that Ondo’s strength lies in Ilaje, where the oil comes from. And since no Ilaje has occupied the Alagbaka House before, it is the turn of the oil-rich sub-zone. Ondo State cannot be left behind as the wind of change is blowing across the Southwest. “

Other ACN aspirants are Dr. Olu Agunloye; Senator Robert Boroffice; Mr. Segun Ojo; Dr. Tunji Abayomi; Comrade Sola Iji; Mr. Saka Lawal; Chief Jamiu Ekungba; Dr. Joseph Ajatta; Mrs. Jumoke Anifowose; Chief Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN); Mr. Wale Akinterinwa; Chief Awodeyi Akinsehinwa-Apata; Senator Olorunnimbe Farunkanmi; Mr. Tayo Alasoadura; and Mr. Aribo.

Crime / Five Nigerian Drug Traffickers Arrested In India, Malaysia by not2long(m): 11:01am On Apr 23, 2012
Five Nigerians have been arrested for allegedly trafficking in drugs in India and Malaysia.

A 35-year-old Nigerian, Uche Sylvester, who used to traffic drugs between Mumbai and Delhi, was arrested in the capital and 100 grams of cocaine was recovered from him, the Times of India reported on Sunday.

Sylvester was arrested near the Delhi airport on Thursday while returning from Mumbai, police said on Friday.

Indian Narcotics Control Bureau had earlier arrested three Nigerians for allegedly trying to smuggle out heroin worth Rs 2.50 crore from the Asian country.

Ude Chidi and Obumuneme Nwachukwu
were arrested in New Delhi in separate alleged drug smuggling attempts.

Also, Ikechukuri Otuata, (32) was arrested after he was found in possession of 64g of cannabis.

He was arrested on Friday at the Saligao junction during routine late-night patrol by police sub-inspector Akshay Amonkar.

Since he was behaving suspiciously, the police team detained him for questioning and a search resulted in the discovery of 64g of cannabis from him.

Otuata was later detained in police custody for further investigation.

Meanwhile, a 27-year-old Nigerian registered as a student of a private college in Kuala Lumpur since June last year, was found with 0.85kg of methamphetamine concealed in a special compartment in his laptop bag, New Straits Times reported on Sunday.

Malaysian custom chief Siti Baya said the man was detained by Customs when his laptop bag showed a suspicious image when it was scanned on his arrival from Lagos.

Politics / Bianca Hires Private Guards For Ojukwu’s House by not2long(m): 5:55pm On Mar 28, 2012
Bianca hires private guards for Ojukwu’s house

Bianca, widow of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has hired the services of private security personnel to guard the GRA, Enugu home of her husband, where she also resides.

Aside from guarding the house, THE PUNCH learnt that Bianca might have taken the decision in order to prevent warring family members, who want their share of Ojukwu’s property, from gaining entry into the compound.

When our correspondent visited the house on Tuesday, the gun-wielding men moved round the compound with Rottweiler dogs.

One of them said, “If you must gain entry, you must identify yourself and madam must give us the approval before we allow you in.”

A prominent member of the Ojukwu family last week alleged that some of the ex-Biafra warlord’s family members were targeting the property he left behind.

He said, “This is very disturbing because it has led to accusations and counter-accusations and then the hatred that was already in the family is even getting worse by the day.”

Meanwhile, attempts made by our correspondent to speak with Bianca were not successful. She did not pick her calls, neither did she reply the text messages that were sent to her mobile telephone line.

However, Debe, the eldest child of the late Ikemba, restated again on Tuesday that he would open up soon on the “issues in the family”.

He said, “Whenever it would be convenient for me, I will speak in details about the issues in the family and several other matters.”

Mr. Azuka Okwuosa, who was Ojukwu’s closest aide from 1982 after he returned from exile till 2011 when he died, said it would not be proper for him to comments on the matter because Igbo tradition forbides him from doing so.

“In Igbo tradition, when a man like Ikemba dies, you wait for 30 days to say anything about his life and family. Under such condition, we are not supposed to be talking about his life unless we would be negating the Igbo tradition,” Okwuosa said.

He, however, said what was happening in Ojukwu’s family was not new. “It happens everywhere. People agree and disagree,” he said.

He called on the family members to be patient pending when Ojukwu’s Will would be read.

When asked if he was in support of Bianca hiring private security men to prevent other family members from visiting house. Okwuosa said, “Bianca’s decision is basically out of choice. The few times I have been to the house to see her; those security men were not rude to anybody. They would attend to you in so far your mission there is genuine and legitimate.”

On the other hand, Mr. Bismack Oji, former national chairman, Ohanaeze Youth Wing, berated the family for the act, describing their action as “a disservice to Ezeigbo (Ojukwu)”.

Oji, said, “When a king dies in Igboland, it is only proper that we give one year interlude before one begins to put up claims over his property or begin to cause problems that may not allow for the peaceful repose of his soul.

“It is needless fighting over his property and assets when there is obviously a Will that would assign any property to any member of the family.”

He added, “Even before Ikemba was buried, his children and other family members had even started the fight. Now that he has been buried and his wife has gone to seek protection by employing security men, one may not really blame her for such an action.”

One of Ojukwu’s aide, who is now a pastor in Enugu and didn’t want his name in print, blamed the crisis on Ralph Uwazuruike, whom he said had already proclaimed himself the Ezeigbo II and the new Igbo leader even before Ojukwu was buried.

He said, “His (Ojukwu) family members began to jostle for his property when they saw the way Uwazuruike was also jostling for his titles and positions even before the burial plans were concluded.”
