PhonesReview: OPPO F11 Pro, Maintaining Its Market Push by notsochefchi(op): 1:26pm On May 23, 2019
OPPO F11 Pro comes with a dual camera setup featuring a 48-megapixel main shooter plus a 5-megapixel lens for sensing depth. While the phone is equipped with a 16-megapixel front camera, some of the features include a night mode tilting the device towards focusing on smartphone photography. The smartphone is equipped with a 4,000 mAh battery pack which is 500 mAh higher than its previous generation. There is also a brand new VOOC fast charging technology.

For the last two weeks, I have taken the phone on a spin and here is a breakdown of everything you need to know; unboxing and an experiential review from my time with it.

Android 9.0 Pie
6.5” FHD Display
Octa Core Processor
6GB RAM
128GB internal expandable memory
Dual SIM capability- Nano SIM cards with an extra slot for memory card
Dual Primary Camera(s) – 48 MP and f/1.8, 5 MP and f/2.4.
16 MP front-facing camera with flash
4,000mAh non-removable battery
4G LTE
Fingerprint Scanner
Face ID

The F11 Pro is powered by an octa-core (8 core) processors; 4 are running at 2.1 GHz and another 4 at 2.0 GHz. All these mean the phone is running at an amazing speed that is devoid of lags and freezing.

All through my test time, there was never any case of less than optimal performance.

Honestly, I am not sure anyone needs as much as 6GB RAM, but the prospect of a totally hitch-free and properly optimised experience is enough for peace of mind. The most exciting aspect of storage for me is the 128 GB internal memory with options to expand.

It doesn’t get better than 4,000 mAh, really.

The battery in the F11 Pro is a monster, performance-wise and literally; check the weight.

It went from zero by 10:08 to a full charge; 100% by 11:38, that is a 1 hour and 30 minutes. It went so fast that I am sure I missed out a few minutes in estimating the charge time.

This is quite impressive for a 4,000 mAh battery and the super fast charge is all thanks to Oppo’s Voltage Open Loop Multi-step Constant-Current Charging or VOOC; a proprietary flash charge technology exclusive to some Oppo devices.

Before second charge test, a 1% charge lasted me for 30 minutes playing music and WhatsApping on WiFi the whole time.

The Oppo F11 Pro is currently officially retailing at Pointek and Slot outlets across Nigeria for ₦139,000 ($385.5).

notsochefchi:
With the announcement of the F11 Pro, Oppo looks to carry the momentum they built in 2018 into 2019. Oppo made waves last year with phones such as the Find X and R17 Pro, and the F11 Pro looks to be its next attention-grabber. The Oppo F11 Pro is equipped with a 48-megapixel camera, a large 4,000 mAh battery, a pop-up selfie camera, and a near bezel-less screen with no notch.

The phone sounds impressive on the hardware front, but how does it function in the day-to-day? This is our Oppo F11 Pro review.

1. Design
Oppo has done some amazing work with gradient colors in many of their previous devices and Thunder Black is another stunning combination of colors.
If you’ve been paying attention to Oppo’s recent portfolio of smartphones, there’s no denying that they’ve been making some of the most attractive smartphones on the market; the F11 Pro is no exception. The Oppo F11 Pro has the all too familiar glass sandwich design, with a metallic frame. What makes the F11 Pro gorgeous to look at is the gradient colored backing. The phone comes in two color options: Thunder Black and Aurora Green.

Our Oppo F11 Pro review unit is the eye-catching Thunder Black and photos don’t truly showcase how amazing this color looks. It’s a triple-color gradient that beautifully fades from a purplish red to black and then to blue. Oppo has done some amazing work with gradient colors in many of their previous devices and Thunder Black is another stunning example.

2.Display
The display exhibits good qualities overall with fantastic colors, great viewing angles, and good brightness.

In large part to the pop-up camera, the Oppo F11 Pro has a notch-free, bezel-less display. This results in an impressively high 90.9% screen-to-body ratio. The 6.53-inch full HD+ LCD display (2,340 x 1,080) won’t be quite as stunning as some of the higher resolution AMOLED displays found on top-tier flagships, but it still looks great. The nearly all-screen front is a joy to use for games, videos, and all sorts of other content. The display exhibits good qualities overall, with fantastic colors, great viewing angles, and good brightness.

3. Performance
The Oppo F11 Pro is equipped with the Helio P70 processor, MediaTek‘s latest mid-range chipset and 6GB of RAM. It’s not the most powerful set of internals, but the Helio P70 is a more than adequate chipset and offers a 13% performance boost over the previous generation P60. In everyday use, our Oppo F11 Pro review unit has offered a fluid experience. Apps are quick to load, navigating through the interface is smooth and responsive, and multitasking between apps poses no issues. Gaming on the F11 Pro is also a great experience. Graphically demanding games run very smoothly with no signs of stuttering or lag.

Oppo has developed its own performance acceleration engine called Hyper Boost for more responsive performance in daily operation and in gaming. It can intelligently allocate system resources for an improved gaming experience. Currently, there are 11 popular games, including PUBG and Arena of Valor, that are specifically optimized for Hyper Boost.

4. Hardware
Hardware wise, the Oppo F11 Pro doesn’t come with too many bells and whistles. Storage comes in 64 and 128GB options, but there’s no microSD slot for expandability. There’s also no wireless charging, despite the phone having a glass back. A single speaker is on the bottom edge of the phone; it sounds fine and gets loud enough for YouTube or music, but it’s not anything special. The fingerprint sensor is on the backside, and again is nothing to write home about, but it’s very fast and accurate to unlock.

5. Camera
The rear camera has an Ultra Night Mode for improved low light and AI scene recognition that can recognize a total of 23 scenes and 864 combinations.
The cameras on the Oppo F11 Pro are probably the most eye-catching pieces of hardware because of the pop-up mechanism and the sheer number of megapixels. The front-facing camera is 16MP with f/2.0 aperture and the primary rear camera is a 48MP shooter that’s paired with a 5MP depth sensor. Both front and rear cameras support portrait mode. The rear camera also has an Ultra Night Mode for improved low light performance and AI scene recognition that can discern between a total of 23 scenes and 864 combinations.

6. Software
The Oppo F11 Pro ships with Android 9.0 Pie and ColorOS 6 software. Having the latest version of Android out of the box is always great, and aesthetically ColorOS is not very offensive. Oppo makes good use of colors without being overly bright or cartoony and the app icons blend in well with regular everyday Android apps. I also like that the shortcuts and the brightness slider in the notification shade are nice and large, which makes them easy to press.

A few weeks after veteran comedian, Baba Suwe sought public help on his failing health, a video of another veteran Yoruba actor, Ojo Arowosoge popularly known as Fadeyi Oloro, who is critically ill has surfaced online.

PhonesOPPO Shows Off Its Own Foldable Phone by notsochefchi(op): 10:32am On Feb 26, 2019
Oppo VP Brian Shen has revealed images of his company’s own take on a foldable phone. Shen makes it clear in his Weibo post that Oppo isn’t yet planning to ship the prototype device unless it sees a lot of demand.

That’s to say there’s a single large OLED panel that wraps around both sides of the phone when it’s folded, rather than being folded away on the inside. There’s also a thicker bar on one side that houses cameras and other components.

Whether Oppo decides to ship this phone or not, it’s clear that we’re approaching the point where similar phones become relatively commonplace. Sure, Samsung and Huawei can charge $2,000 and up for their first flagship foldables as halo devices. But the tech is out of the bag now, and you can expect a lot more to come soon from these phone makers in particular.

Celebrities'sick Baby Benaiah Story Is Scam' – Kemi Olunloyo Says by notsochefchi(op): 5:09pm On Feb 05, 2019
Controversial Nigerian journalist Kemi Olunloyo has claimed the Sick Baby Benaiah story is a scam orchestrated by a syndicate to swindle Nigerians of their hard-earned money.

According to her, the video of the man with the sick child is an unauthenticated video that is not certain was shot recently and she also claimed that the man behind the viral video was an ex-convict she met in Prison in Port-Harcourt.

Read the thread as posted via her Twitter page:

What I found in the most elaborate N90M scam in Nigeria. One sick looking baby, a fake father and mother, an elaborate FB syndicate, questionable foundation, unauthenticated videos, a carefully designed media blackout and millions of Nigerians home and abroad donated cash.

THREAD My findings on #BabyBenaiah As a reputable investigative journalist of 25 yrs, I concluded the case as a well orchestrated scam with N90M raised. Our people are constantly mentally enslaved doling out their life’s savings to a questionable unverified claim of a sick baby.

Nigerians saw #BabyBeniah in an unauthenticated viral video with no date or specific location and it got their attention and compassion to donate for this allegedly sick boy. They accepted an unverified diagnosis and started donating into a Go Fund Me and a Diamond bank account

I called several colleagues at TV, Radio and print media houses on why there was a media blackout on the story. Many told me that it appeared to be an unverifiable story as the first line party in the story refused to respond to media. KBK’s online avoidance of media

KBK online according to a US govt Spokeswoman is among several NGO’s that don’t register under 501c3 to get tax exempt status because they may be serving Communities outside the US and many tend to prey on people needing funds raised. They do it as a contingency fee.

A Diamond Bank source told me the account has seen close to N100M deposited in it in the last 7 days including an amount disbursed from the @gofundme fundraiser. The amount KBK Online raised did not all enter Diamond bank. There was a disagreement with parties.

OAP Daddy Freeze has no idea how everyone was hired to take a role in this syndicate called an elaborate scam. He helped them raise money, made a call to Monday. Freeze used antipastor sentiments to raise them money after man said Salvation Ministries gave only 20k

Lexy is a prisoner I met in #PHMax in the case of Chioma (Facebook Girl) an inmate on my side. That is NOT his real name. They have all gone into hiding now possibly out of the country with your N100M. He posted this fake picture yesterday and fake records.

How could have gone to jail and still he wasn't deported at that time? and they still didn't find out that he was British, not American?

CelebritiesSoundcity Alleges Davido’s O2 Arena Concert Wasn’t Sold Out by notsochefchi(op): 11:26am On Jan 31, 2019
Music channel, Soundcity has revealed that the concert Davido held in O2 Arena wasn’t a sold out one has claimed by the singer.
This was revealed via their Twitter handle where they also stated that the singer has now set his sight on replicating what he did in London in America.

The Davido O2 Arena concert which saw the appearance of star actor Idris Elba and supermodel Naomi Campbell was also exposed to have not been a sold-out concert by Russ Millions, an American rapper who performed at the event. According to Russ Millions, the 20k capacity arena only got 17k guests.

An international publishing house, The Guardian, had also published a review of the music concert in which they had said the singer nearly sold out the popular music arena. See excerpts from the review below:

"Considering the anticipation attached to this gig, which has been talked up as a significant event for Davido – he’s nearly sold out the O2, a considerable leap toward the mainstream – and for Afrobeats itself, it’s poor form for the Lagos-based singer to turn up 65 minutes late."
