Nairaland / General / Re: Is It Not Insanity? ........... What Is Your Thought About Gun(s)? by novicali: 2:37pm On Sep 29, 2013
I wish to say that the world without the military will be pleasant and the world without guns and other ammunition or weapons will be a peaceful place to be. And I think the man who made gun committed a serious crime against humanity.
Nairaland / General / Is It Not Insanity? ........... What Is Your Thought About Gun(s)? by novicali: 2:34pm On Sep 29, 2013
I have been brooding over this issue for some time now, I decided to share my thought with you. The question I have to ask is this, who made gun? And what was on his mind when he made it? Destruction I guess. And again why has this product gained so much popularity and patronage over the years? It is very mystifying to me that weapons of war sales more and costs more than any other thing human beings can consume on this planet earth. The most annoying thing is that many countries whose citizens cannot have sound meals on their tables spends fortune to acquire these weapons in their Arsenal . And often times people who die in these human erroneously motivated wars are people who do not have any share in the born of contention.
Don’t you think human beings are "Animalistic" somehow? When human beings pick up guns and weapons to shoot at each other, at the end one part will declare victory just because they have gone to destroy life. This is insanity to the highest level and is very demeaning to the essence of human life. What do we gain when we kill each other? Properties and wealth or the mineral resources on the ground? But these things are not yours, you came to meet them here and soon you will leave without them.
Why can't we learn lessons from what has happened to people in the past? where are those strong and evil leaders in the past that drag and fought because of these things ? They have gone and left these things behind. Some lost their lineage and left no legacy behind. They killed and destroyed lives because of these material things and yet people of this present age cannot learn, it is really insanity on parade.
Nairaland / General / Re: How To Tackle The Mountains Of This Life by novicali: 6:59am On Sep 29, 2013
We all at different times encounter mountains in our lives. In as much as we live under the sun there is no way we can avert facing mountains, but what matters is our manner of approach in facing them. For this reason people may encounter similar situations in their lives but at the end they have different results, so many situations or conditions that some people think are serious, to some people such situations are nothing to perturb them. So we have people who receive the news from a doctor that they have cancer and the refused to die and on the other hand we have people who hear the news of a slight illness in their life and they get carried away and die as a result of that.
Nairaland / General / How To Tackle The Mountains Of This Life by novicali: 1:43pm On Sep 24, 2013
Mountains are situations and problems that confront you in your every day life activities. They cause a sense of concern that you can not probably stay without thinking in their directions on how to solve them. They are yokes and bondage hanging on your neck and shoulders. As they are hanging, they make you not to walk your ways with easy, you often felt obstructed by their presence in your life.
By and large they are things that you have to deal with, if not they will take over your life and your ambitions in life will dash into the sea. Therefore, they must be removed from your ways, for you to make ahead way.

The bible said "if you can say to this mountain be thou removed and be cast into the sea without having doubt in your mind, it shall be removed". It is important to know that these words are faithful words that one has to trust. But they don’t just work like that; there are things that one has to put in place before saying to any mountain "be thou removed". Each and every mountain is unique and has different roots, taproots and routes in formation.

Firstly, it is imperative for you to understand, what caused the formation of the mountain, the route of the mountain and what has maintain its existence in your life. For each mountain has a cause, a route through which it came to you and also there is a particular thing that is sustaining the mountain to remain in your life.
Here, the cause might be from you, your parents or from your linage and also from friends. The route might be from you, your parents or family members and even from your friends.

The "sustainer" of this mountain is you, because you have allowed it to stay, you have the right to say no to it. The decision is all yours to make, no matter the cause, the route, the survival of the mountain in your life lies in your hand.
When you have taken recognition of these facts, that you are the one to tackle the mountain without laying blame on any person, you mediate on them and ask God for the rightful words to use to cast the mountain to the sea, God will direct your thoughts and ideas on what to say to the mountains and they will obey you.

Note, that mountains do not have the same itinerary, some are spiritual and some physical in nature, the ones that are spiritual has to be tackled spiritually in order to achieve the maximum result you desire against them. The ones that are spiritual you can only use to the words of God to attack them, which is done by your oral spiritual action on them. Notice that the Bible says “You shall make a decree concerning a thing and it shall come to pass and light will shine on your way.” (Paraphrased)

It is important to note that why most mountains still linger around because one has not make a decree concerning them, (here the decree is not just an empty words, they should be faithful words buttress by the word of God) and once the decree is made, it must surely come to pass, the result of this is light which symbolizes victory.

Some mountains do not need words from you. They just need that you should carry out actions on them and they will dissolve away from your way, you can do that by carrying them away to the sea, or pushing them away to the sea, the good news is that they cannot withstand you when you are carrying and pushing them away. Suffice it to say then that many of the mountains that are in existence in the life of so many individuals today are as a result of characters and behaviors they have indulged. It is obvious that many people cannot stay in one job for a long time not because they are not qualified but because of their characters and behaviors. Some of these factors are routed in one’s life and some are external as a result of probably friendship and relationship with others.

For you to be able to deal with these characters, you must be honest with yourself and avoiding shifting blame(s), own your fault. This is the first step, and then you pray about the character, what you should pray for here is nothing but the wisdom to handle the character and thereafter you carry out the required action on the character, which implies that you have to change your ways.

This is what you do to some mountains that exist as a result of friendship with some people, if you talk to them to stop their characters so that the mountains which such characters have been generating will vanished and they refuse, you back off from them and refuse to be part of their friendship in life. (Remember it is not good for you to short change your standard or future with mere friendship that will lead you to doom). It does not mean that you hate them, but the characters in them; though you still have a job to do concerning them, do not cease to pray for them, and also forgive them, only when you must have done this that the mountain will certainly be removed.

GOD BLESS YOU!

I want to correct a notion here, the world beauty pageant is a worldly thing organized by worldly people trying to make their money through the world system. Funny enough there has never been any beauty pageant tagged "Christian beauty pageant" the earlier you have this in mind the better you understand how to differentiate the world and Christianity.
Islam for Muslims / Re: An Islamic Perspective Of The World Muslim Beauty Pageant Innovation by novicali: 9:17am On Sep 21, 2013
You should know how to differentiate Christianity from the World System. Christianity Never encourage Nudity and will Never encourage it. On the contrary Muslims should not be follow follow to the World system of things.

His argument is really valid. Things don't just fall into places the way they are without one organizing them. The Sun and the Moon cannot play the role they are playing without being regulated and put in place by someone. The seasons shouldn't be there at all if one has not organized them. The mountains and the hills, the oceans and the rivers cannot come into being without the rightful thought of someone who made them possible. Evidence has shown that nothing can be without a cause... and that cause is the originator.... God is the origin all the visible and invisible features on this planet and beyond. However, whether we agree that God exist or not, our acceptance or denial does not in any way make any difference in His existence. Therefore, the reality of His existence does not depend on our approval period!

Religion / Re: A different View on COZA Sex Scandal by novicali: 6:41am On Aug 27, 2013
"In case I am delayed, to let you know how people ought to conduct themselves in the household of God, because it is the church of the living God, the support and bulwark of the truth."(1Tim 3:15)This was a humble advise Apostle Paul gave to his spiritual son Timothy. The problem with most nowadays churches is that it is privately owned and managed as a private business. The truth is that the church do not belong to the leaders of the Church rather the leaders are owned by the church and are accountable to the Church. But here we are seeing the opposite, the church accounts to their leaders and so their leaders can do anything and get away with it, therefore evil continue to hibernate in the Church. The truth is that COZA or whatever the name is, is the property of the pastor, if you are tired of worshiping there you can make a u turn and face another Church if you like. Before, I forget, let me say it loud and clear that no soul is special or highly valued than the other in the sight of God. Again the positions we occupy in the Church does not make us better then the other person in the sight of God.
However, the only thing that makes the difference is our faithfulness to God in service and discharging our duties, no matter how small or big the assignment maybe. Therefore, God is faithful to as many that are faithful to Him, not because of positions that we are occupying, if the so called in COZA did not carry out his duties well as a pastor in the Church, he is less valued in the sight of God than an usher in that particular Church.
Again if the Christians who are there in the Church do not speak the truth about the situation and judge rightly (as in rightly dividing the word of truth) and allowed everything pass under their nose, they will be held accountable for the pollution in the Church.
Lastly if we are looking for the truth in this world we should locate it in the church and any church where truth is not residing is no longer a Church rather a gathering place. This implies that Jesus Christ is not there.... because Jesus Christ is The Truth, it doesn't matter the population of people gathering there.
Business / Re: Tycoons Who Won't Leave Their Fortunes To Their Kids by novicali: 7:05am On Aug 22, 2013
The world will be a better place when we learn to think about the well-being of others. Thinking about self or being selfish is the worst enemy of humanity, because it makes one to be wicked, arrogant and less concerned about the feelings of others.
In any society where the rich and leaders think so much about other or citizens and how to better their lives, such society knows greater peace and stability. In any society where their leaders think only about themselves and their immediate families and may be close friends what you see in such a society is chaos, poverty, crimes of all kinds.
This is the main reason why Africa and so many countries that have such leaders are the way they are. Their leaders think only about themselves and how to amass wealth for their children, children and children childen to infinite. Their religious leaders are thinking about how to establish a religious center that will be bequeathed to their families as an inheritance.
But they forgot one thing that all humans lose everything they have at death; the only thing they will be remembered for is their character or say soul that will be judged at the end. Whether we like it or not the day of reckoning must sure come!
TV/Movies / Re: Big Brother Africa: How Multichoice/dstv Is Under-developing Africa by novicali: 7:58am On Aug 21, 2013
armadeo: I don't watch big brother but if an adult decides to watch it then that's his prob. As for exposure to kids there's a code that stops viewing programs specified beneath the age range.

I could also ask the same of premier league what do u gain from watching it?? Following players lives what sch their kids go to etc.

Pls big brother is not our problem but intrinsic nigerian issues like bad leadership for one.
I have read with keen interest about commentaries on the activities of the participants in the program called Big Brother Africa (BBA). Though, I have been blessed not to have watched any of the episodes live, it is interesting to read about some of the rotten activities taking place among the participants. Things that is shameful to mention what more when it done and aired for people’s consumption and we see people applauding and promoting such program with huge resources that should have been directed to some meaningful activities that will help humanity.
Actually if we have good leaders such useless, vulgar and anti cultural programs should on no account filter the screen of our electronic media. Let me say this, that there is “freedom and there is freedom to bondage”. What most people are fighting to gain nowadays is freedom to bondage not really freedom. Yes everybody should be free to watch whatever h/she deem fit in his/ her bed room, but one fact we are trying to ignore is that after watching such things they translate in the public life of such individuals, thereby in one way or the other causing moral pollution in the society.
Such vile programs does not in any way help in promoting the real freedom rather directly and indirectly dragging humanity into more shackles of moral dilapidation. Yet we and even our so called leaders celebrate these insanities in the name of modern mores. I was shocked by the gesture of President Jonathan to congratulate a onetime Nigerian winner of this debased program called BBA. Why? Just because he wanted to identify himself with the youths or probably with the current modernization vehicle that is moving in the wrong direction, of which many whose eyes are open but their minds or spirits are in the darkness are promoting.
My people we are fast losing ourselves to these immoral programs and activities surging up here and there in our society today. Our children no longer have their rights as supposed, we no longer respect them as children, and we treat them as adult. It is too bad to see on the walk ways of the major cities in Nigeria that traders and vendors display pornographic movies and magazines while children coming back from school and certain errands watch. Why is there such a sharp decline in our moral life? Where are those norms and societal values that bond our integrity as a people? We are no longer who we are, we are fast becoming other people, which mean that we have lost ourselves…… this is too bad to know.

I suggest that the Nigerian Embassy in Libya should make a swift move in order to investigate this guy called Solomon Okoduwa before things run out of hands. They should confirm his identity and if they are aware of what he is doing and the illegal organization he is floating. They should investigate how he got the information about the 300 girls and who are these agents demanding for money from him. Solomon Okoduwa is a fraud and his organization is a very big con and should be stopped.
Politics / Re: 300 Nigerian Girls Languish In Libyan Prisons – YAMIDR by novicali: 1:20pm On Aug 17, 2013
Calls like this must be properly verified before one can jump into conclusion. In the past and also now, many 419s establish fake NGOs with which they dupe both the International and Local communities of money which could be used judiciously here at home. Some fraudulent politicians hide under these fake groups to syphoned our resources. For example, many NGOs, such as this, have been shown the way out of many countries around the World for engaging in fraudulent claims, many of them Nigerian entrepreneurs.
Firstly, let's see who this man really is: (a) he said he escaped from Libya in 2011, during the war. How did he get there? (b) was he having proper Resident Permit of Libya while he was there?, and (c) did he go there through illegal route himself and started encouraging human trafficking which incidentally led these girls there for onward trans-shipment to Europe?,
And secondly, he said he has acquired several acres of land for palm plantation: (a) in whose name did he purchase the acres of land he's trying to raise money to farm? (b) of what use will the farm be to these people once they are retrieved to Nigeria?, and (c) Who are the Board of Directors of this group, members of his family and co-adventurers?
This might be a second version of church operations, where poor people are deceived to give up 10% of their incomes for the Lord, and the rich (thieves) are encouraged to donate huge some of their stolen money to the Lord, only for the Presiding Overseers or Bishops to end up spending the money to build empires for themselves, their children and their family, and buying Jets for themselves while the poor remain poor with their heads high up in the sky looking for when God will come and deliver them from misery.
The business of the churches all over the World is to provide humanitarian services to the needs in their host communities and beyond. That's why they are exempted from paying taxes. But the Nigerian syndrome is to grab and keep to build heaven on earth, build schools with fees unreachable for the very poor whose tithes make things happen for them, and to send heir wards to schools Overseas, preparing them for the hefty inheritance.
NGOs is the latest in town, especially when you have some Commissioner in Government that can help you promote your group in he government circles. All you may need is some little capital to register with Corporate Affairs Commission who doesn't bother to investigate the genuineness of any application before it. Sometimes the capital will be provided by those in government whose idea it could be to take advantage of their proximity to Government in power.

I think Mr Solomon Okoduwa should go find something else to do, he is just using this illegal and unregistered organization to extract money from the government purse. He is not better than a thief. People should ask him what happened to the former organization (United Returnees foundation) which he was heading. The Edo state government gave some soft job allocations to this group Mr. Solomon Okoduwa took the allocation to his girl friends and family members. The government should go investigate his claims of land acquisition, all these have no foundation they are make up stories people like Solomon should not be allowed to lead any group in Nigeria. Nigerians should beware of this guy parading himself as a representative for the Libyan returnees he is nothing but a thief. There are no facts in what he is saying, these are just stories to draw attention, the Nigerian Embassy in Libya is not backing him up. Sooner than later the Nigerian Embassy in Libya will issue a disclaimer on him. Funds collected from well meaning Nigerians who were eager to support the URF what did he do with it? All went to his personal purse and those close to him. When he was accosted by the members of the organization for accountability,he left the organization to form this present organization with virtually no Libyan returnees as an inside. Nigerians this organization is hoax and the Edo state and federal government should beware of it.

lastpage: While we are at this "DOCTRINE/TRADITION MATTER", l will like anyone who has sound "spiritual/Biblical knowledge" (not fanatical please) grin to explain one thing to me:

Why are "MEN" required to remove their CAP, when they enter church?

*How does donning a CAP stops one from worshiping God?

*Is it a sign of respect for God?

*Does the CAP prevent God from answering the men's prayer? (I notice that women wear their own head-gear without problem)

*DOes it conform to modern-day Christianity (I know Christ has "fulfilled" some aspect of the "Moses Doctrine" which Jesus himself once referred to as "given to you because of the hardness of your heart"; e.h 'An eye for an Eye'.)

*I like to wear my CAP from house and leave it on throughout till l come back home but l dont like to offend others in church or make them think maybe l am just arrogant.
If it has no "sound Biblical backing" or if it is just "Tradition of men", l will like to discuss it with a few associates and see how we can enlighten ourselves, to the glory of God.

*But if it is a "spiritual requirement of God", then it has to be respected and obeyed.

What is your take, from a Biblical and spiritual perspective?

What l want:
*someone to point out the Biblical backing to this practice, both in CONTEXT and APPLICATION.

Thanks.

Lastpage!
I will like to sum it up like this: God is not looking at our outward appearance before answering or accepting our prayer or worship as the case may be. In that case whether you put on Cap of not God is looking at the heart of the person speaking or conducting the activity. On the other hand there is nothing wrong in a Christian eating food that is served to an Idol, ( cos the Bible says in reality there is no Idol, which of course nullifies whatever respect or fear accorded to an Idol)but because of the brother or sister whose faith is little one should not eat the food that is served to an Idol. Because most people have been indoctrinated with this idea (as a result they have grown up in their Christian faith with it) and because they have not come up to the level where you are, therefore, for their sake putting on cap while praying is not encouraging. In conclusion, he that is having his cap on his head while praying has done no wrong and he that is without his cap on his head while praying has done no wrong!

Car Talk / Re: Death Of The Z-600 Made-In-Nigeria Car by novicali: 8:41am On Jun 27, 2013
samkoro: The story behind the Z-6oo is one that I'm very conversant with.I personaly saw the car driven around Owerri on the day of its launch depicts.I also knew the lecturer behind it years before he built that car in his workshop at Orji ,Owerri.Izuogu's passion for science and technology is one that makes a man cry in a nation that desires to move backwards rather than forward.

The Z-600 is a story that reveals a certain part of the Nigerian spirit of retrogression rather than progress. It was an epitome of it.Its a story of tears. Its a story all well meaning Nigerian should learn from.I will summarise what and why it happened.

Z-600 was a product of yrs of research/hardwork by this quitessential engr. In his laboratory(Radio Lab ltd /Izuogu motors ltd). The prototype was then launched by Gen. Oladipo Diya in 1997.The propsed a budget of 100million naira to the federal and state gov.(Millitary) for the building of the plant than can competively produce considerable numbers monthly. But no one cared.

Thabo Mbeki of south Africa and senegalese gov sent delegations to him to lure him to south Africa and senegal respectively.

Sam Momoh(then science minister) lead a high powered delegation to his workshop to probe his work for three days.He was given a good letter of reccommendation after the visit.

On march 2006 his workshop was raided by heavily armed men who carted away machinery, tools, design history, mass production plan, moulds for car parts, engine block mould, crank shaft moulds and all files pertaining to his 18yrs of work towards Z-600.Some of the mould took him 10yrs to design.

Izuogu attributed these misfortune to ethnic politic--because Abacha's government questioned
--"why must it be Igbo". The same way Gowon narrow mindedly frustrated PRODA by taking it over and refusing to finance many patents that were developed there.

After the civil war also,Major Samuel Ogbemudia(former administrator of the then Bendel state) gathered former Biafran scientist that worked in the Biafran RAP -research and production and took them to UNIBEN to perform wonders for the state in the area of remote sensing, gas refining, oil refining etc.Gowon quickly gave him an ultimatum to disband the group or be recalled to the barracks.Gowon told Ogbemudia "that the war continues.

Ironicaly U.S and Russia are great today because they used captured German scientists to build their nuclear Arsenal, rockets and space programme.America used captured German nuclear scientist to speed up the developement of the bomb they used on Japan.

Von Braun, the man that built V-rockets for Hitler became the first to head NASA.

Today "every" Nigerian has a mobile phone-the benefit of satelite communication made possible by space travel acheived by NASA,that was headed by Von Braun.

What a benefit it would have been for everyone if Nigeria did likewise

Obama once said :"there is no limit to what one can achieve if one doesn't care about who benefits.

We should understand that a factory in Sokoto possess a multiplier effect that could reach Port Harcourt.

Evidence has shown that the backwardness of Nigerian people started with the kind of policies that Gowon initiated, in Nigeria, and such policies are indelible as it has helped to construe the mentality of Nigerians along tribal lines in everything they do. However, it has been enshrine into the blood stream of Nigerians not to commend, recognize and value their own, we can fight and die for what is made in abroad even their second hand products. We can stoop very low to drag and fight for their second hand bras and pants, but those new bras and pants made in Aba or anywhere in Nigeria is less patronized what a shame? I live in a country where if go to a shop to ask for a brand of any product the seller or shop owner will immediately bring their locally made brand and try to pipe it down your throat to accept it as good quality, even as you know that the quality is nothing to compare to your desire. Because in this country they believed in themselves more no matter how stupid their ideology and philosophy about life looks, they will sale it to you to buy. If you come to their country to play against their national team and eventually win them your team is trouble, they will beat your team for winning their team, that tells you how much they value their things. How many Nigerian are wasting their lives because of Arsenal and Man U, Chelsea and real Madrid? I was home, I went to watch the match between Bendel Insurance and Warri wolves no nobody came, I was surprise that we can not support our own, but we can die for what others made.... this depicts that we cannot really give a definition of who we are, is a shame you know. If you asked a German man to speak English, he feels that you have insulted him, because he believed that English is no way superior to his language. How many children of Nigerians elites speaks their local language, our languages are going into extinction. I found many of our youths dressing like those in the western nations, if you dare cross the border of Nigeria and come to the west, racism will make you hate yourself, probably you will begin to like to dress up in yoruba attire. We need to wake!

No offense, but your take on the picture is wrong! Who told you these Christians were pledging support for homosexuality?! Or is it so hard for you to understand the spirit of outreach that would make them want to draw near to such people wasting away in such perversion? These Christians weren't supporting the sin; rather they were apologising to these people for the continual self-righteousness and aloofness of church people who have lost their humility and love for their fellow man, and who easily dismiss people who Jesus also died for. Jesus associated with tax-collectors and other sinners, including the sexually immoral, even wining and dining with them - would you dare go as far to say that He was one of them, or that he approved of their lifestyles? He did say it wasthe sick who needed a doctor, & he came for the sinners, not those who think they're better than anyone else - that's why He & the holier-than-thou Pharisees hardly got along. We need to be made to understand as Christians: as much as we frown on sin, we must not frown on sinners - they need to know that they'r always welcome to the One who can set them free. All such talk about hating homosexuals is evidence of false morality and self-righteousness, which to God is just as bad - if not even worse - than homosexuality.
But the idea of putting homosexuals in leading positions in the church should be discouraged.

Then you got me wrong! I am not saying that we should pamper sin in the Church, Jesus did what He did because He knew those people know what there were doing, from the scripture it was written and they are doing the contrary. And moreover, these people had the support of the Pharisees who are the teachers of the law, indirectly, the massage is not for the traders but for the people supporting the trading activities in the House God. You can see from the passage that they were the people that came to respond to the action of Jesus.

What Is The Gain Of All These Tussling? (From the page of "What is your take on this?"

There are lots of things that are still beyond the scope of man's knowledge and there are lots man knows about but are still incomprehensible to him. No man can say for sure that he was aware of the period his mother conceived him, one cannot give account of things that happened during the period one was crawling around, looking miserable and sometimes helpless. During these period, life is actually real, but real in abstract, because it is not possible to grasp anything that happened, life in that stage is better described as life in the dream.
At a point in time, one starts acquainting oneself with the realities of life by acknowledging the material and physical existence of things around oneself. Therefore, one cannot help but ask the all vital question of "How come this world or who brought it into existence? Well, notwithstanding, the truth remains that every human being that has existed and they that are existing now and also, those that will exist in the future have a common unique destiny. On the day a child is born, that child starts his or her journey towards the completion of this destiny, though the time of arrival differs for each and every individual; but everyone will someday, sometime get there. This destiny is unavoidable, because the principle of beginning and ending must take its course.
This destiny ends the course of man on this planet earth, and in a little while all his activities will be remembered no more, whatever he must have achieved or established will be trampled upon or discarded. In retrospect of his journey to this unique destiny, he must have tussled a lot to be one thing or the other, and along the line, he must have achieved that on the detriment of others, by crushing, bulling, eliminating people and by any means or device available.
So, what is the essence of these horrific crimes against fellow men? Since such individuals will someday give up their ghosts, and leave everything behind. If we can come to terms with this reality, the need for war, brutality, and every vile and vices against fellow men will not be at all.
We came into this world with nothing, we will leave thing world with nothing, and worse still, there is a day of reckoning which one cannot avert beware!

Egba girl:

When Jesus kicked those guys out , it's because they were disrespecting Gods house and had turned it to a business center instead of a house of prayer. I'm not saying that the church should encourage homosexuality but don't discriminate against homosexuals. We need to stop this holier than thou attitude. The bible is also against lying stealing fornication etc yet many Christians engage in these acts. Yet in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Not all church goers are Christians, we all know that. Not everyone that call Him Lord will enter the kingdom of God.
And in response to your last statement, "Let anyone who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall"

The homosexuals can come to Church in order for them to listen to sermons that reflects the sound doctrines of Christ and got repented from their ways, The homosexuals should be loved by Christians, and the only way to love a homosexual is to love him or her with the love of Christ by giving him or her the right gospel and nurture him or her in the faith to grow out of the habit of homosexualism. However, giving homosexuals position or ordaining them into positions in the Church is as wrong as ordaining a liar, a fornicator, an armed robber, and every other things the Bible condemned in the Church.

Uyi Iredia: There are always two sides to a coin.

Indeed I think Islam has noble objectives in calling adherents to a higher living. The unity (despite schisms as evident in the Shia, Sunni and Suffi split) is not in doubt. Islam redefined the geo-political boundaries of the Middle-East, Europe, Africa and Asia. That it spread quickly to Syria, Jordan etc after being birthed is not in doubt. The common religion became a rallying point for otherwise feuding tribes and their lords. This established Islamic hegemonies as well typified by the United Arab Emirates. I once stated to someone (who believed there was nothing good in Islam for obvious reasons) that some modern-day Islamic states are in fact a counter-point to that. Malaysia and Kuwait are examples that come to mind. There is an interesting video, here, wherein which the speaker talks about the role Islam is playing in building successful democracies. A quote from the author is worth considering:

You cannot change the crux or cores of Islam by modernizing it to align with the western kind of life, in that case, the essence and value or Islam has been altered. Micheal Jackson changed his colour from black to white, but the truth is that Micheal Jackson was and is a black pop star. The physical changes does not matter, weather moderate or modernized muslims, the doctrine of Islam makes muslims what they are.

“Many Muslims in Saudi Arabia believe that the core values of Islam, namely acknowledgement of God’s sovereignty and basic human equality before God, are themselves compatible with liberty, equality and free political choice.”
- Noah Feldman

As for negatives, well there is the case of persecution of atheists (as with Christians) killing of homo$exuals, and Islamic fanaticism, as commonly portrayed (possibly to the point of being over-stated) in the media. Of course, female emancipation is another woe that bedevils the religion. These negatives together constitutes the quandary the modern Muslim faces: how to keep core tenets whilst co-opting cultural elements of a world that is gravitating towards liberalism and secularism. Personally, I think Dubai is a good social experiment in this direction.

BetaThings:

And the infidel in the Bible (corithinans) "don't be yoked wit the infidel, What has darkness got to do with light" means what?
It means that you should not short-change your spiritual standard to that of an unbeliever. It does not mean that you should hate the unbeliever, no you should love the unbeliever but never live the kind of life the unbeliever lives. The statement does not in any way suggest that one should carry out suicide attack or any act of violence against the unbeliever. No one has the right to eliminate any soul for no one created any soul.
