TheKingIsHere: Calm down.
It is obvious you don't know politics.
Buhari is a tyrant who is fund of attacking his opponents.
So, why release the name of his opponent now? Do you want Buhari to set him up and accuse him of stealing? be deceiving yourself. election is in few months, let's watch and see. |

Nigerians are unserious people. Few months to general election and no strong opposition.
Buhari will unfortunately have a landslide victory.
It seems most people like him secretly |

Organs: Nope, youre not getting the point. That is what it became. Yes the man was drinking all right but he was serious, he knew what he was talking about and i believe some others agreed with him as well. I think it might be itsekiri. i will find out and let you know. Its in one of the Delta languages. Now, think about it, how will your grandma exclaim if she sees a woman going about half naked? You can imagine if she screams "aye".... implying, oh my God is this what "womanhood" has turned into?? then, you can imagine if this continues on and on over time. Now, imagine this, maybe in one remote Urhobo villages, there was a big project in the village organised by Italians who now came to live in the village. Now italians are forever Hot and likes sex a lot. Now, imagine that they cannot speak english and when they are Hot, they tell their Nigerian friends hey any "aye" for me? and on and on and on.... over time, prostitution might become known as "Aye". That is what i think, im not sure, i just checked it now online and some say, "ashewo" is a twi word from Ghana, which means loose, prostitute etc, some say, "Ashawo" is a yoruba word from the word Ashe "owo" a money changer and it now referred to prostitution since they change money ... That doesn't sound right. Research it yourself, Omote".. . sorry for late response, I have hard a hectic 24hours back to the question I understand what you are trying to portray. I have lived my whole life in Delta, though school and some other things have taken me out of the state at some point, so I understand the general language here with its connotative and denotative meanings(to some extent) atleast in warri metropolis. I have never heard ashawo being used on female other than professional girls. ashawo is basically used with broken English. I doubt if it has meaning or linked worry any local language here. But I think it's origin might be from Cameroon or maybe Ghana as you said. |

Organs: Thank you so very much for this. I appreciate it. Now coming to think of it, is "ashawo" an Urhobo word? I rem attending a naming ceremony and an old man had asked what the "sex" of the baby was by saying na "ashawo abi soldier", I was stunned and asked him why he will refer to a new born in that manner and he corrected me and said ashawo actually means "female", or woman.....So, i believe, it stemmed from surprise, exclamation, maybe if an older woman should see a lady not sitting properly maybe with her legs open she might scream "ashawo" implying, how can a female sit in this manner, and same goes with dressing... then lifestyle......... please when and where did this happen. what town/village. ashawo is not an urhobo word. ashawo is a derogatory word, and the fact it was used on a baby is alarming. I will not condone rubbish. the man was probably drunk or plain stup..id , because I can't fathom why such word will be used on a child. pathetic. in urhobo this is what is used to address female; omote = girl aye = woman oni = mother |
