Adventure...
Maybe adaptation of a forest of thousand demons.( waiting for someone to adapt this for a big screen)
On Ps4/Xbox/PC
The book is rich culturally.

I had never heard of that book till now. I just googled it. Apparently it's very rich in material, ideal for a "God of War" type game.

Sports / Super Eagles '94 Or Super Eagles 2013? by nprime(m): 1:43pm On Oct 29, 2013
The Super Eagles of 94 definitely made us proud in the USA '94 World Cup. There Rashidi Yekini scored Nigeria's first ever World Cup Finals goal. I'm sure most of you remember his goal net celebration, lol. However this current team hasn't done too badly, delivering an African Nations Cup Trophy we have been sorely in need of for quite some time.

It's hard to say which team made us more proud, the debate can go on and on. So let's simply put it to a vote: download the app and make your vote count!

Every week we bring you multiple contests in which you choose the best contestant in various categories. Thanks to your votes, the winning contestant rises to the Top!

lol, i feel your pain. Ottawa is quite slow when it comes to socializing; you really have to go out of your way in order to have a social life. I've been living in Ottawa for a while and just started a graduate program at the University of Ottawa. If you want to meet up with a group of friends to hang out just let me know. it's all about getting connected to the community.
Politics / Best Thing For Nigeria: Super Eagles Crashing Out Of The African Nations Cup by nprime(m): 3:08pm On Jan 14, 2010
In my humble opinion, the best thing that can happen to Nigeria in this new decade is for Nigeria to crash out of the tournament early, and not win it.
That would cause intense dissatisfaction in the Nigerian populace that could hopefully lead to the President's antics not being tolerated anymore,
as well as Ahmodu Shuaibu, the coach, being fired.

On the flip side, the worst thing that could happen to Nigeria is to win the cup, causing a wave of euphoria that would cause the people to forget the current hardships they're enduring, and to continue to allow themselves to be short-changed and basically 'raped' by corrupt politicans.

Business / Re: Google Acquires Youtube by nprime(m): 10:46pm On Oct 11, 2006
Needless to say Google's acquisition of YouTube is an inspiration to all aspiring entrepreneurs. I really would like to see an internet company built by Nigerians selling for hundreds of millions of dollars, if not a couple billion. We're very talented and gifted individuals (giant of Africa!) so there's not reason why we too can't cash in on technology and make these millions, if we put our minds to it.

@kazey:
You're very right. The north american model is all about 'projected revenue' and expectations. If you can convince shareholders that there will be a market for your product a few years down the road, you're cashing in right now, as opposed to when the market actually does present itself.
Webmasters / Re: Your Favorite Nigerian Website(s)? by nprime(m): 10:48pm On Sep 20, 2006
I would have to say www.africamediaweb.com since I maintain the site. We just launched it but the feedback I have been getting has been quite good. To the best of my knowledge it's the only nigerian/african site that allows surfers to discuss different topics by calling in with a telephone and speaking their mind. Pretty cool.

Computers / U.k. Residents, Please Help Me Test My Phone-in Web Application! by nprime(m): 3:24pm On Sep 17, 2006
Hey Guys,

I just finished writing a web application that accepts phone calls and streams them online for free. The best way to describe it is "a voice enabled forum". Currently I have call-in numbers for the U.K., Canada and the U.S. I've tested the North American numbers but I need volunteers in the U.K. to test the U.K. call-in number.
The link to the website is here: www.africamediaweb.com

I would also really appreciate it if you guys could rate the site; all feedback would be appreciated, especially constructive criticism!

baby4u2:

u have your choice to go or not to go to church, to give or not to give, u're a sane human being like myself, no bi by force its by choice.

baby4u2, I agree with the fact that God is faithful, and when giving to His work he always replenishes you. But I have to raise a point here; when u're living in Nigeria and life is hard, it is HARD. I have gone through tough times and good times; and believe me your state of mind in periods of extreme poverty would shock you when looking back after being delivered from said poverty. So you're not necessarily a 'sane' human being, able to make 'sane' choices when afflicted by poverty. Most times out of desperation to change one's plight, one sees that the only avenue of change is to do whatever a Hummer-riding, sweet-mouthed "man of God" tells you do to because you believe he is "anointed of God" to "loose people from the bondage of poverty". Whatever happened to teaching people to be satisfied with God, and desiring Him more than even gold, knowing that if God is truly by your side he will never let you suffer in any way. Hence whatever hardships you're going through would pale in comparison to enjoying fellowship with God. Truly, our Pastors have a responsibility to teach us to focus on the face of God, and not on his Hand!

Have you thought about providing an RSS feed for nairaland? I believe it would be very advantageous to your site, plus I could include it in my site when I'm done building it smiley !
Programming / Re: Java Has Failed! by nprime(m): 12:48am On Feb 09, 2006
I learned Java in an Object Oriented (OO) programming course I took in my 2nd year of University. It was challenging to learn some OO principles, but after the initial hurdle I found Java to be quite simple, actually. In my opinion, compared to C++ Java is much easier to program in, but with ease of use you do sacrifice some performance. It all depends on what task you want to achieve; there are lots of different programming languages, each optimized for specific problem domains.
Programming / Re: Who Wants to Start an Electronic Game Development Company? by nprime(m): 4:53am On Feb 01, 2006
The reason I stressed having more artists than programmers is because with the more mature game development libraries (like ogre and ode) it would take a fair bit of time to put things together and get a working game. I agree that the job is not trivial, but for your game to actually stand out instantly, and to have a certain 'mood' or 'look and feel', you would need to invest heavily in your art department. If you look at most indie games, they tend to look the same, mainly because indie teams are composed of lots of programmers and few artists, hence a low art budget, hence bland looking games!

Hey guys,

This is my first post on this forum; it's nice to see other Nigerians so knowledgeable about technology. Keep it up guys! And now to the business at hand: Game Development! I have spent almost 2 years now reading up on game development in my spare time, from the art of Game Design (ah, Shigeru Miyamoto, you're a genius!) to 3D graphics, Physics, Sound and Networking. After 2 years of research, here are my conclusions about Independent (Indie) Game Development:

1. Serious Game Development is not child's play. It require's lots of time and effort, both of which are in short supply if you're doing it in your free time. Hence the need to be extremely disciplined.
2.There are tonnes of resources on the internet which will teach you how to go about developing a complete game, but as always you would never find the time to read this wealth of information.
3. If you thought time was in short supply, skilled artists are even more difficult to come by!
4. Commercial game engines and tools (3DSMAX, Maya) are unreasonably expensive. Best to go open source; although not cutting edge, they exhibit good quality and decent forum support. Examples are Ogre for graphics (www.ogre3d.org), ODE for physics (http://www.ode.org), OpenAL for audio (www.openal.org), etc, etc. You get the picture.
5. Although point 1 above is true, nevertheless with a strategic team leader, and a motivated team, it is possible to complete a decent and fun game as an Indie, and make lots of profit from it! Just don't forget that to build a high quality game with lots of polish you would need more artists than programmers, and be prepared to go for months on little sleep!
6. Yeah, before I forget. It IS better to publish your first game on the PC. You don't have to pay royalties to Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft to publish your game on their machine, plus there's a whole lotta stuff u have to do to even consider wanting to go the console route. With the PC u can self publish on the internet, and you wouldn't have to shell out loads of cash just to get a development kit! As long as you have a reasonably powerful computer, and a solid internet connection, you're in business.
