I gave passwords to lot of my neighbors and don’t really keep track of my data usage.

But I’m sure I regularly hit 1tb and above on both mtn and Airtel.

This corroborates what someone I trust told me as well.

I don't know why they have not brought this Huawei in my area. I will contact my contact.

Airtel i got three weeks ago was giving me issues, the network keeps breaking up intermittently and the battery packed up after a week, it was replaced and the new one does not even last more than 2hrs.

Out of frustration, I went to MTN office, Idi Ape Service center in Ibadan and I requested for the ODU I didn't spend 1hr. I was told to pay online and choose the center i went to (idi Ape Service Center), I paid 30k on the MTN flyx portal and generated reference number. Within 20mins, I was called and it registered immediately. The lady said Installer will come, i told her i am taking it far, so she gave me indemnity form and said if anything happens, MTN will not be hold responsible for the product, i filled the form and she handed over the product and told me to test it, I did immediately and it starts working, it came with the 100mbps one month unlimited plan. I used like 30mins at the center to test it well before leaving.

When i got home I placed the ODU besides the airtel own, that is where i know i have been suffering myself for that past three weeks.


I compare both ODUs side by side and MTN is far ahead. Both network are good and 5G in my area. But MTN is far ahead. I have not had single interruptions since i started using it, not like Airtel own that the installer even struggle to get network during activation when he came for the installations

Once the Airtel sub expires, I am packing it up. I can't stress myself because of 5k added to MTN own, the stress does not worth it.

You really have very good network in your area for both networks. MTN is the clear winner here with the latency I'm seeing. Airtel is not terrible there as well.

Yes, the Airtel box accept Internet via a WAN/USB Ethernet Cable. The LAN on it only supplies, doesn't receive.

If it did ( or you have a router or Mifi with a Ethernet port), you'd have to buy an Ethernet to USB cable to route your Internet from the router to the box.

That's what I'm using.

Boss airtel is good in my area but mtn is gooder. I got the mtn flyx with 1week left on my airtel odu. The difference is clear.

When I tested a broadband MTN SIM in my X25 pro when they gave free 25GB for their anniversary, it was really good as well. All the bands I could see, run on 20MHz bandwidth. This means that on paper, MTN has the capacity to accommodate and handle more traffic with most of its bands.

But then that experience could be in isolation. Others may have bands of lower bandwidth in their locations. What it does mean is that MTN might be good if I try using their FlyX here. But Airtel hasn't given me a reason to dump them.

I'll not advise anyone to get airtel ODU as a first timer, unless mtn is bad in your location. People keep complaining even in this thread, my last subscription ended on the 23rd, first 2 weeks was okay, after that it was nothing to write home about, spent another 6k buying mtn sub just so I can browse.

This is not location issue, airtel is very good in my area, I subscribe on normal airtel sim and it works fine, just the odu that has issues. I called cc tire, spoke with the guy that helped me register, no proper resolution till the thing expired. I'm going back to mtn for my peace of mind, the 7,500 difference is worth it like mad.

I would like to say, with all due respect, that it's location issue sir. I mean, the ODU infrastructure in your area apparently need some upgrade

I'm saying this as someone who also suffered the untold fluctuations of the Airtel ODU in the early days.

It should be noted that I also advise people to get MTN FlyX these days instead of Airtel ODU. That said, I use the Airtel ODU at its most reliable state for the best part of several months now.

It should be unlimited for the three months, ideally. If they cap it at 1TB, then it has to be 3TB for the three months.

I have been using and not taking a count. Airtel has been really good, great I should say.

Third party say, unlocked MTN ODU is 65k, while the unlocked Airtel ODU is 45k.

Do you have a way of getting the ODU SIM Cards without buying both Airtel and MTN? If yes, then you should get the SIM cards and buy any of the unlocked ODUs if and only if it's guaranteed to work with the other sim when unlocked. If not, you may buy X25 pro and unlock it via paragon and be particular about the firmware that has the feature to tweak IMEI.

It's noteworthy that being unlocked is not a guarantee that it's going to work with the other ODU SIM Card.

My advice is that you buy the two ODUs. Buy one and use for one month. Buy the other one and use for the next month and then decide for yourself. Based on current testimonies, if you want to buy only one, you may buy MTN as people say it's more stable. Complaints exist but very few for now.

I heard rumours about that X17U being unlocked by third parties these days. You'd need to verify before buying if unlocking is important to you. To me, since they are stationary devices and you can get them cheaply from ISPs, unlocking is probably not critical at this point. What should be more important is knowing which of the networks is better in your area. You will know by asking friends in your area. Your neighbours.

Device for device, X17U (MTN) arguably has a slightly better ODU but X17M (Airtel) has a superior IDU. Airtel, meanwhile, has both devices and more in their arsenal.

There is no movie you cannot find on CloudStream with the correct extensions/add-ons. Same with Stremio, Nuvio and then, the father of them all, PlayTorrio.

It was working but I'm not sure it still does. The router in the message you quoted, however, still works.
