henryutd: This is the same device when you choose either 4g or 5GNSA. The sim is still inside Your Sim is suffering from one of the other problems I mentioned To rule out your ODU being the problem, you should actually try to use the sim in another compatible device. |

4litres: Uptil now, most of u don't yet want to admit to the fact that airtel unlimited has been a gimmick and selling strategy to get ppl onboard the airtel network. The problem is never about devices(their devices are actually good) nor network as i here a lot of u like to say, "make sure airtel network is good in ur area', airtel network is actually good in over 70% of locations across this country. The problem is, they have no intention of giving people the unlimited data they advertised, therefore they just throttle down those using the plan at random or collectively, if u doubt me, just purchase any other normal airtel plan on the same sim or device and watch how usable ur data becomes. You didn't take into consideration that he tried at work place, the same ODU sim, and it worked over there. How do you explain that? We have deduced that it's not actually unlimited but capped at 1TB, which, if it works well until that time, is fair. But there are inexplicable issues with the plan including but not limited to what he's experiencing. |

gambus007: of course problem is from airtel Yea, you know you were saying the ZTE is not plug and play. It actually is, but apparently not in all scenarios. |
Phones › Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by NSEstudent: 8:02pm On Mar 24 |
gambus007: Gbam. Band locking and 5G frequency locking are best for 5G NSA; otherwise, you will experience signal drops. It’s not plug-and-play because 5G NSA depends on a stable 4G anchor band. If the device keeps switching bands automatically, it can cause instability and drops. When my ODU was on 4G, I had no issues using it that way, but once on 5G NSA, proper band and frequency locking became necessary for a stable connection. You can choose 4G only and leave the bands all active. It's not ZTE problem but Airtel/Nigeria problem. Every other router would have done the same. We don't have standalone 5G yet. |

henryutd: My sim is active. It's my ODU that is giving me problems. I have changed the esim to physical SIM. The ODU can't connect to 4g nor the 5GNSA network. It's only connecting the 3g network and it started after 2 weeks of purchase. It didn't connect till the sub expired. The physical SIM is active and can check balance. I have strong Airtel coverage in my area because my phone sim is Airtel and it's working perfectly well. Just the ODU device. Your ODU sim is not active. It was, but not anymore. You need to fix it yet with Airtel, which you have started. If you put the Sim in X25, it will still not work. I have seen that type of problem before. |

henryutd: Available in their office is the 4g smart box. I hope the sim will work in it. I think it's the ZLT S25. You can get the X25 Max 2. If it's anything like X25 or X25 pro, you should be good. |

saint2ace: If you have a physical sim that's still active, just throw it into any Airtel router or universal router and it should work. Please note i said router not mifi. His ODU sim is currently not active. |
Phones › Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by NSEstudent: 1:38pm On Mar 24 |
gambus007: Talking from my experience and from people around my area, it does not work well without locking the band, especially if you have a 5G signal. Do you have 5G in your area? I see. This is a different scenario. I have no 5G signal in my place. Apparently the router is giving preference to 5G, which is probably unstable in your place. |

gambus007: I did a write-up for him/her, but I don’t think he/she even read it. A lot of people don’t understand that the ZTE ODU is not plug-and-play.You need to lock the band. The person refused to listen and kept complaining, even though the explanation was already in the topic. Even before my write-up, someone else had explained the same thing too. Not plug and play as how? Band locking is optional. That router is very good at choosing the best cells. I use it and no band is locked for the most part. I only play with band locking when I want and or when network is misbehaving really badly. Even then, I still end up leaving the bands unlocked. |

nurez305: I uncheck all and only check band 3 Wonders of the world Anyway, with what happened in my area with band 7, which at one point, had its best performing cell become useless, I think what's happening in your place can be explained. Apparently Airtel newly installed stable and quality cells on band 3 in your area. |
Phones › Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by NSEstudent: 10:36pm On Mar 23 |
Unfaized: Funny for me Band 3 is the most useless among all bands. When Band 7 is down then it’s pointless coz band 1 is basically as useless as 3. What I usually do is swap between these bands, unlock all bands then lock back.
Between doing all these it will start working. But when nothing works, then it's a general downtime. Band 3 wey I no wan to dey see any cell or frequency from. |

nurez305: This is exactly the issue I was facing late last month. Exactly the same issue until someone recommend I lock just a single band, immediately I unlock all bands and lock only band 3, I have never experienced single downtime since then and the speed has never went below 40mbps... Speed want to wound me. Maybe you can try that as well of that will solve the problem. Can you explain what you mean by locking and unlocking? Which bands did you mark and unmark? I am talking about the check boxes. Which ones did you uncheck and which ones did you check? |

Hullabaloon: I just discovered this night that using Ethernet cable ( router to PC ) instead of WiFi connection improves streaming speed significantly.
I'm watching The Madrid derby in full HD and it has minimal buffering. Never thought it's possible.
Mind you my speed is 13mbps this night. My TV has always connected via ethernet. It is the best connection, followed by 5GHz. |

mrboluu: Can u help with a link to the IPTV and codes You can generate with IPTV generator apps. I generated that one last year and I think it's counterintuitive to share the specific code because I think they get unstable when multiple devices connect to them at the same time. What I will share is that I generated it using IPTV generators. You need to be really patient and try many codes until you find a stable one. You can find generators on Play Store. They will show video advert and generate a code. You then try and generate more. It's tedious but you can get lucky. |

I get signal on 3g but it can't browse
No Service since Friday morning and today is Sunday
Picture 1: The Problem Picture 2: The indoor unit Picture 3: The outdoor unit.
I think something is wrong with the outdoor unit and it's esim 🫠 The devices look abused If the ODU does not have internal faults, consider resetting it if you haven't done so. You might also consider buying a new one. |

ernxto: Still like this See if you locked to a cell that is no longer active. I wrote extensively about this some days ago. It is probably better to leave all bands and cells active if you don't mind toggling through them every once in a while, because some of the cells deteriorate in signal. In my place, cell 491 on band 7 at 3256 frequency was the best of them all. But right now, if I lock to it, my router will not show 4G signal but fall back to 3G. It may browse or not, depending on what's happening with 3G at the moment. Having left everything on (except band 3, I so much hate that band ), new cells have emerged that are much better than the old ones. If you use ZTE G5F, just leave cells and bands alone. That router is more than capable of taking care of itself, and, by extension, taking care of you |

femarse: My pick is that the ODU/IDU itself is the main problem there is once a while Airtel downtime experience by most Airtel but the one experience by the ODU is just unimaginable
Putting the same exact ODU sim in any other Airtel router that is not ODU remove you from 90% of the downtime problem , since the ODU , I have only experience downtime or no network like 3 times that lasted maximum of 2 days, I don't use the ODU device , I use Normal Airtel 4G smartbox with the ODU sim , sometimes I ask if it's the same Airtel I am using everyone is complaining about like this ....I think those using the Normal 5G router with the ODU sim too don't experience downtime like that You go come one day tell us how bad it has become Not cursing you oh, but Airtel always goes round. I use all kinds of routers tweaked or not, that work with the ODU sim. The issue is always location dependent and largely from Airtel. So apparently your location has been having stable network. Maybe they have good quality bands and cells serving that location and have not tinkered anything there yet. But don't celebrate much because except if they keep that energy, one day you'd see what we are seeing and not even the specific router you're using now can help. I hope this doesn't happen sha, just context |

gambus007: You are very right. Unfortunately, I was given the ZTE router and I am unable to play FC26 online. It is not playable at all, and I don’t think I’m interested in doing a separate subscription just for online gaming. I just don’t know what to do about the issue. The 5G router was not like this though. Please, do you have any recommendation on how to improve gaming with the ZTE router? Curious to know if anyone has tried subbing that 20mbs recently and seeing how it performs. Airtel has been fine in my location for the past few weeks but they have visited me with the bad network everyone has been complaining about recently today. It's frustrating to say the least. |
