Sage7: It was stated in several articles I read that immigrants with visas before the effective date on travel ban won’t be affected.
I guess the only challenge they’d face while adjusting status is the public charge rule. Toh, at least I’m not the only one that saw it. |

eyinola: its from first hand info my sis application is pending atm cos of d ban and if by chance u enter us now with b1b2 and decided to jappa u can't adjust status When you say pending what do you mean? Every AOS application is going to pend before it’s approved. There are people on this forum who have and some still are adjusting their status at the moment. Surely it will be harder to adjust ur status now with a b1/b2. Did your sister go to the US on a fiancé visa? |

kiahrt: Please I need clear info on this; if d present ban on immigrant visa affects CR1 (spouser visa). Wanna know before I decide which one to go for CR1 OR K1 (fiance visa). Thanks Are you married? If you are married you have to apply for the spousal visa if you are engaged and want to get married in the US then you apply for the fiancé visa |

folarinstr: Im sorry for disturbing your peace. My understanding to K1 is that the intending couples are just to meet in person while the foreign spouse goes back to file for the spouse here and all this lasts between 5 to 7months
But what about the package that the couples marries when the foreign spouse visits? No, the foreigner goes to the US to marry their fiancé the US petitioner and stays there and adjusts their status to become a permanent resident. I don’t know if you can leave after the marriage but I don’t think that’s the idea. |

paosca20: Yessoh! Some guys like to smart! They better heed my warning and abstain LOL! This goes for the girls too! Another important thing, when the doctor asks you during medical whether you smoke weed, shisha or any hard drug! You must say NO! If you go and accept that you smoke weed, just kiss goodbye to your visa! Yh, I read on Vj that if you smoke weed it’s a one year ban, then you will redo your Medicals to prove you aren’t smoking again but this was another country I don’t know if they will give anyone that chance in Nigeria. |

paosca20: This group is now active! Thank God the ban doesn’t affect k-1! Y’all shouldn’t get over excited because you’ve not crossed the finish line yet! Be humble and prepare form your interview! I can assure you that you’ll be extremely nervous on the morning of the interview For those of you filling your DS-160, make sure everything you fill tallies with what your fiancé stated on the I-129f petition. Don’t contradict anything, and for guys, don’t go and sleep with any girl without CD oo! If Gono catch you before medical day, na OYO o! Enjoy guys
Me, I’m just stress-free for now! Passport with k-1 visa is cooling in my wardrope Nervous is an understatement that Gono part Lmaoo don’t kill me Abeg |

molybdenum0012: I doubt if it is possible to do adjustment of K1 visa to Immigrant one since the ban says no issuance of immigrant visa to Nigerians. Hey God!!! Pls have you read the proclamation document at all? To the best of my understanding the ban does not affect those in the US that are adjusting status. When you adjust status you don’t get an immigrant visa you get a green card....Abi? Pls elders correct me let’s know what we are doing. Someone pls clarify this. |

folarinstr: Bro, this is what i mean. Let me use myself as example, in my last B1/B2 interview appearance, thats 2years ago, i filled in my DS-160 that im married but to a Nigerian. Now, ive met a new love from US after i and my nigerian wife has gone our separate ways 6months ago So, my question is, if i apply for K1 visa with a divorce certificate of my Nigerian ex, will i be denied? As long as you’re saying the truth I don’t see any issues. But I’m not a consular Officer. |

folarinstr: Even if he has said hes at the previous application but came with a divorce certificate or letter, will he be granted? Yh. The problem is when you lie on a previous application that you’re married and can’t provide a divorce certificate for the previous marriage obviously because it was a lie. |

Those of us on VJ pls have you noticed it’s the people from other countries that are more interested in the travel ban, saying there’s no way we are not affected and now are wondering why it doesn’t affect K1 applicants. Like they really want it to affect us. I’ve never seen such in my life! The comments are just negative but God will prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies! |

Treasureprince1: I heard I have 30 days to pay for visa fee and schedule interview appointment once I fill ds160 form, please how true is this? You have 30days to complete the ds160 but I doubt you need 30days. Everything can be done in a day. |
Travel › Re: USA Fiancee (K1) Visa Thread by NTUk1: 12:01pm On Feb 25, 2020 |
Treasureprince1: Please can you guide me a little? Start filling the Ds160 form, while you’re at it you can go to any Gtbank branch with a copy of your passport data page and visa fee of 98,050. Tell them you want to pay for the K1 visa category. They will give you a payment confirmation that contains your payment reference number. Go to ustraveldocs.com create an account and schedule your appointment. Make sure the confirmation number on your appointment letter tallies with that of your ds160 confirmation number. If not call the customer care line and they will fix that for you. |

paosca20: Sis, it is crystal clear that k-1 visa isn’t affected, and I want to believe they will do the right thing! For those with NVC approvals, you guys should schedule your interviews and do the needful! K-1 visa is a non-immigrant visa! I really pray they do. Thanks a lot for your encouragement and support, we shall all testify. |

paosca20: I sent an email to US Embassy in Krygystan, concerning the k-1 visa and they just confirmed that it is not affected! Krygystan has the same ban as Nigeria, so I wonder why US embassy in Nigeria is acting shady and withholding information. It is clear that k-1 visa is not affected. God bless you for going out of your way to do this. I was thinking about why they were being shady before and the only thought that came to my mind is that they might want to deny more K1 applicants and hide under this travel ban saga. But God dey. So now 2 countries have confirmed that the K1 is exempt from the ban. |

sandraigho: Thanks much.
Ive learnt from here that all you need to ensure is to book the interview before the expiration date. It doesn't matter if you get a date afterwards. I’ve actually heard of people getting denied because their interview date was after the expiry of their petition and the consular officer didn’t extend their petition. I think you should fix a date to avoid any complications. |

But could you explain better, what kind of waiver? I don’t know much about the waivers for now. It’s supposed to be given based on individual circumstances by the consular officer. I don’t know much about it.

kentoski: Guys please could you spare a minute to help me out here.
My cousin just called me to say she's just being invited for her visa interview, she got married in late 2018 (her hubby is a US citizen), and they've been in the process of processing her visa so she could join him...the the IR1 visa. Please is there anything she needs to know? What to expect and pitfalls to avoid?
Secondly, she was also instructed to book a medical at Qlife or IOM, which of this is better option? and importantly, she's currently pregnant, her hubby spent quite a holiday last Xmas & new yr in naija, ...would this affect the medical or outcome of the interview in anyway?
Any clarifications and responses will be deeply appreciated. Thank you. She should book her medical and attend. But she has to disclose to them that she’s pregnant so she can be given a double shield during the chest X-ray to protect her baby. The pregnancy may help the outcome of the interview and help her get a waiver. But don’t quote me. |

BENSU: I just called customer service agent, the lady said she can't say if K1 visa is affected by the visa ban because K1 is not an immigrant visa neither is it a full non-immigrant visa, but what she called "Special Non- Immigrant Visa", she said that i should visit the US Embassy in Lagos for clarification Thanks for calling!! Hmmm what sort of confusion is this. It’s like we are in limbo, Well till someone attends an interview. God help us. |
