Any news about some of us still owed third year fees? |

EfeJay: I would say this is a good place to start. go through this and similar threads. if possible follow links that show you the final list of previous scholars, so you can tell what kind of msc courses are acceptable and start seeking admision as soon as you identify an acceptable course that interest you. Then wait for the advert, apply, prepare, get your documentation ready, get a recommendation letter from one of the appropriate persons, take the CBT, do well above average, then go for the oral interview but this time you need to be excellent as it is responsible for 60% of the final score. Then Pray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would also advice that you get a January start date instead of a September, October or early November start date. |

Guys, I have been paid. It just came in this afternoon. However this is the lowest I've ever been paid, a decrease of about £3500, or 2500 using the current exchange rate. Wow. By some divine magic £21300 = $30000 I.e an exchange rate of 0.71 instead of 0.76. It's good news all the same. 2 Likes |

irahub: I don't think so. I wasn't paid in January and I have evidence that my name is on the list; and as we speak I haven't received payment even though my name is on the list prepared in February (not January). I guess those in USA got paid first as there was no need for any currency conversions since the scholarship is in US dollars. Hopefully people in other countries would get paid this week. |

I just heard some people in USA received payment yesterday. Obviously the NDDC scholarship is in dollars, so maybe we’ll start hearing UK payments next week. But NDDC can't be trusted. I'm still waiting to hear news of a UK payment. |

Well two good news. 1) that Mrs Seledi Email is now working, as the lady has done her best to manage a bad situation. 2) That the file has finally left NDDC office for CBN. Until someone gets paid, we can't really tell. I was expecting news of payments to start filtering in this Friday. Let's see how next week goes. |

ladybug2: Well this is the latest from the most reliable source I have. Our payments have been approved by the MD for about two months now (early last month). In the federal civil service it is not just the signature of the MD that is required but also that of the executive director of Admin and/or finance. So the story is that MD has signed and has forwarded the file to the EDFA office, who is supposed to sign, forward the file to the relevant payment authority (CBN) and pursue/follow-up the payment. But as at two weeks ago, the file has not left his office. This is consistent with the behaviour of this EDFA since 2015, this is not the first time he is doing it. The British Prime Minister would be in Nigeria either today or tomorrow and we want to pass this info (about non-payment of NDDC scholars) to the British high commissioner, so that they bring it up, but have so far been unsuccessful. With regards to Mrs Seledi, she hasn't been replying since the file left the MD’s office, I don't know if it is a coincidence or if she has been moved elsewhere or if she has left NDDC. In any case, the EDFA is the one we should be concerned about now. Those of you that have his contact should start bombarding him. As for me, I want him removed, besides the MD might not know the actions of this man is giving him a bad name. |

mikelhunch: Everything about NDDC has become so quiet. This happens when you put politicians in charge of something as sensitive as NDDC. Don't worry they would remember you after they've sorted out their fate in upcoming primary elections. It's shameful to say the least, but this kind of behaviour is expected. |

Luck2016: I believe their decision would be communicated to us ”when they feel like” We think it would be this month, that is this week or before the end of next week. Anyone can believe whatever they want at their own expense. There are 1000 reasons why the scholarship cannot be cancelled, one of which includes an upturn in oil prices. I don't want to join issues with anyone. It would be easier to continue with the process, as you would have to provide good reasons for its cancellation, and at this point, we can rule out lack of funds. Cancellation would also lead to a backlash, irrespective of the reasons. Why wait this long if you are going to cancel it? Why continue with the scholarship scheme after this cancellation? As I said before, we know the meeting held over the weekend with the president (represented by vice president Osibanjo) in attendance. We don't know the full details of what was discussed, we don't even know if a decision has been made. I guess we would know in time. 5 Likes |

Luck2016: Not every scholar was paid in January, quite a few haven't received a single payment. I am one of them. Some scholars that were paid in January still have a second outstanding fee. This delay is exceptional, there has been none like this in NDDC history. Even for NDDC this delay is unusual. However, there is no indication that the process would be cancelled. It looks like payments of the remaining scholars and those that have a second outstanding few and the release of the list would be concluded this month. There seems to be an aoura of confidence in NDDC’s communications that was absent before last month. I guess we would have a clearer picture by next week. |

The ease with which a lot of Nigerian Youths loose focus is beginning to make me reconsider their lazy president unguarded utterance. The truth is that giving up is expensive, yes it can cost you a lot. So before anyone of you give up, you need to ask yourself if you can afford it. As bad as it is, it is still an opportunity to get much needed ”proper” education and despite all the ”challenges” (like late payment of fees), I would still look back one day and say it was worth it. So if you think it's no longer worth it, there is no point to keep pushing, you can continue discussing the history and evolution of various races. However, if you still think it's worth it, you need to keep your focus and continue pushing. I am very proud of ladybug. There was a similar lady in the bible who kept on pushing until an ”ungodly” Judge avenged her of her enemies. No matter how stubborn, corrupt, insensitive, etc. you perceive the current NDDC set up is, if we keep pushing, they would bend. I didn't say it, it's in the bible. 3 Likes |

Jaybadestboy: You misunderstand me. Jaybadestboy: My understanding of your theory is that If you reciecve two mails then it's an unofficial confirmation you've gotten the scholarship. You are paid for attending interview You are paid for attending the induction However dont you start building castles in the air, the stress (collecting account details twice) seem totally unnecessary. You can collect bank details once for both purposes. But if we are to dwell in your hypothetical construction for a minute, it can only hold water ”IF there are people who only received one mail”. If not then it's more likely that there was a mistake in the first mail. |

Panda9909: Just that you have not told us anything. The person you talk about is most likely a previous year scholar that differed his admission. When you do that they give you a new letter. So yes, he wouldn't need to write last year exams because he already did in the previous year. 1 Like |

irahub:NDDC contacted me during the week asking me to verify if I had recieved payment, I said No. The next day they asked me to forward my invoice immidately, on or before the 31st of Jan. The school forwarded an invoice to the officer in charge of payment on the 1st of Febuary. However on the night of the 31st NDDC MD claimed to have cleared all outstanding debt on TV. So I am guesing they already have the money to pay me. But as i said before, i was among the 12 UK students that got paid in April last year. Wasn't paid among the current batch. At first I tot it was because they wanted to first settle others outside the initial 12, but now i know its because they didn’t recieve my invoice. In summary it is very unusual for NDDC to ask for feedback from scholars. The fact they did that shows some seriousness on their part to clear the debt (say by the end of January). I beleive they would have gotten feedback from all those who haven't been paid or are being owed 2nd or 3rd year fee, and will pay them. This should bring the payment process to an end. I will keep the house updated, however, I think NDDC will release the 2017/2018 list this month and also commence the 2018/2019 application process by month end or early march. |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 2017 NDDC Foreign Msc And PhD Scholarship by Nuel1647: 7:54am On Jan 31, 2018 |
I believe NDDC sent out a mail yesterday asking scholars to confirm they had received their fees and upkeep allowance. So It seems that they are rounding up the payment process. Hopefully that would mean paying the second/third year tuition fees of scholars still owed. More importantly, it would mean they can now transfer their attention to the release of the scholarship list and also start a new application process. 1 Like |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 2017 NDDC Foreign Msc And PhD Scholarship by Nuel1647: 9:00am On Jan 23, 2018 |
It’s kind of tricky, as the minister and NDDC can have very different definition of “outstanding debt”. For instance the last time I was paid was april last year. I’ve not received any payment recently even though my fees is due and nddc received the invoice since last year. However, I think (based on everyone I know) that everyone who has been owed for about a year has been paid once. There are people whose second or third year fee is also due but haven’t received a second payment. In the interest of 2017 scholars, I think we should start focusing on release of the new list, so people can start planning towards April or September. |
