The funny thing about the WhatsApp group, is that only current scholars are on it. It’s possible that some of these scholars are already in the UK (like me) and might offer useful advice for settling down in the UK or maybe ptdf offers them some assistance. But believe me, there is safety in the multitude of advice and this forum offers that. Anyone with reasonable information (previous scholars etc) can offer useful information here. And this forum is anonymous. 2 Likes |

Nigerdcritics: Guy chill. I am also from the Nigerdelta and also have oyel well in my community. There are many people like you in this forum, no be only you. Please the insults are totally uncalled for. Express yourself without picking on anyone, any tribe or any region. People will be more receptive when you remove the insults, accusations and allegations. It is wrong to hold this generation responsible for sins of the previous ones. 2 Likes |

Werk: It will be nice if you can also take your own advise. What we have here is the typical northerner arrogance (aka arewa youths) and ingratitude. We also have the typical Nigerdeltan sense of entitlement as well as the theory that the North is the only source of their problem and hence the annoyance. They are both WRONG, every party is skilled at pointing out the flaw in the other, but not themselves. If this generation continue with this sectionalism handed down to us by Amadu Bello, Awolowo, Ojukwu and other strong regional leaders like them, we would build a Nigeria far worst than the one we currently have. Yeah you guessed right, we would always lay the blame on the other party. Even though "people like me" feel the current ruling party has exacerbated the unfriendly tension in the polity, by being insensitive to the plurality and diversity of our interest as a nation; any damage they create will be felt by everyone, no one is immune. Therefore we should remember that we are first and foremost Nigerians, good citizens of a great Nation with so much untapped potentials. It is our responsibility to bring into reality the Nigeria of our dreams by believing that the Nigeria of the future will be better than anything we ever had in the past. Building unhealthy tension is bad for everyone, there can be no winners, only loosers. It's time we start rethinking the way we see each other so that we can forge a common progressive front for the betterment of everyone. It is my belief that "THE LIST" will be released before the week runs out. However, the hatred I am sensing here has nothing to do with the list. 2 Likes |

jerrykings1: There are a lot of things not coherent about this. 1) The admission letter is a prerequisite. 2) For lss msc there was no verification, but for Phd, all the required documents were verified. 3) I also knew people who had their admission letter verified but also got the mail. However, the authentic inventory of scholars is "THE LIST" and it might contain people who did not receive the mail. 2 Likes |

Genuine complain, very good, very helpful, etc. But the childish, insultive, impatient, revolutionist, hypertensive, premature activism, all these were totally uncalled for. It's existence on this forum meant some emotional members did not know when they crossed the line and started acting against their own interest. |

Kh001: I remembered warning that the immature and impatient attitude on this forum will scare people from sharing valuable information here. Maybe next year scholars will learn from this mistake. So for as many that will have one issue or the other after the list has been realeased, to the time they conclude their studies; you just lost someone that could save you the stress of unnecessary visits to ptdf office in Abuja. It's not just him but everyone also harbouring his intentions. |

AUST has a centre of excellence in Material Science (PAMI which has taken off) and Petroleum Engineering (which hasn't started). They also have the Gulf of gunea energy research institute that is almost completed. So if you are interested in Material Science or Petroleum Engineering you can choose AUST. Unlike many other specialised institutes in Nigeria (masters and PhD only), AUST is an international institution (with students from many African countries) and works with the very best lecturers in various fields from different African and non-African nationalities, some of the lectures you'll meet here also teach in IPS and other specialised institutes. All masters programs are 18 months (Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Material Science/Engineering and Petroleum Engineering), PhD is three to four years. No placements, because it will be unfair to the international students who make up over 60%. However there are field trips within and outside Nigeria as it has close ties and even memorandum of understanding with Total, Snepco and Mobil (exon-mobil). You will have to apply for admission and write an exam to gain entrance for MSc or go through an interview for PhD for any of those five courses. You will also need to get the ptdf scholarship on your own. I think the school fees is still $15,000 per year. The school is properly organised, no strikes, you get your certificate before you leave, before the end of the 18 months period, there is accommodation on campus for everyone, akin to that of foreign universities (a day student option is possible for those living in abuja). The school also takes care of your feeding, laundry, etc; it also has sporting facilities, a gym and a swimming pool. All you just have to do is simply read your books. Finally if you participated in the Engineering PhD interviews this year, then you most likely have met an Aust lecturer. The three groups were headed by Lectures who teach or have taught in Aust, and you will find this to be a common occurrence especially for Petroleum engineers applying to IOC's (very important side benefits). The current head of SPE in Nigeria also lectures in AUST. I did a masters in Petroleum at AUST btw 2013 July to 2014 December. Application, entry exams, etc is usually from September to November for January Starts. Check news papers or visit them at Km 10 Umaru Musa Yar'adua road (Airport Road) Galadimawa Abuja. 07042049739 07044369498 (I just copied this numbers from my admission letter, I don't know if they still work). I think it's visa phone, I don't know, since I'm not in Nigeria ATM, I didn't try them. I think you can also differ your admission until the next session in AUST, if you secure admission but not scholarship, while you are applying for scholarships; some of which are tied to AUST but also others like PTDF. If you get ptdf local scholarship, then you can differ until you get Aust admission. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Some of us have evidence that the list will be out by early September (as Kh001 has said). I wonder why no one is talking. I personally feel the explanations he gave were coherent; and though we all feel the process can be improved, we have no idea what it takes to improve the process, neither can we take away the experience ptdf staffs have acquired over the years. The only frustrating part of the process is that since we don't know what goes on behind the scene (a problem with every foreign and local scholarships body) we hold on to signs (like time tables, length of the process, etc.) as evidence of credibility. I think ptdf should adopt the same strategy, it is not sufficient to just advertise dates for exams, they should also advertise dates on which the results will be realeased from the onset. It is the civilised thing to do and they can always apologise if they have any hiccups that prevents release of the results on the advertised date. |

Am I the only one here that thinks some people who played with their emotions, on their own, are blaming it on PTDF. The scholarship is a previllage not a right, it is suppose to be for the best of the best (academically, mentally, emotionally and in character). If this forum is reflective of the best my country has to offer, then we are in serious problem. Many people need to learn the art of holding their cool until the right moment. All the outburst against PTDF and Flexistaff is premature to say the least. I have previously processed a study visa to the U.K. in three days, without priority service. I personally feel the amount of hatred and frustration on this thread can even scare people with reasonable information regarding the list. Don't worry, I have prepared my cross and will happily crucify myself. 1 Like |

The list will be released when it will be released. Please you guys should stop acting like you are foreigners. We all knew that this would happen. I would suggest that people start making plans to differ their admissions till January or if it's not possible, next year. People should learn that the attitude to adjust to changes makes them a better person especially in this era of Changji. We will not always get what we want so we have to make do with what we've got. While we all agree that the conditions are unacceptable, it is also unacceptable if you fail to prepare for unfavourable conditions. Use your head, plan for the future, find things you can do to accommodate this unfortunate situation. Best of Luck. 3 Likes |

I also got an incomplete message which became complete after some minutes. The incomplete message was because the message exceeded 163 words which is the limit for a single text message. If your message is still incomplete, depending on your type of phone, delete at least two old sms, switch off your phone and put it on again. you will then either receive the remaining part or the full message over again. I'm from delta state so if its by state, then delta will write on the fourth of april. however i strongly feel this time its done alphabetically as the scholarship will be based solely on merit and not a quota system, where every state must necessarily have a scholar. what more, the first message i got carried 28/03/2013 and the second message carried 04/04/2013. I feel this would also mean those whose first message read 27/03/2013 will now be writing their exam on 03/04/2013. So until we hear someone who said his first message read 27/03/2013 and he or she got a second message saying he will now write on the 04/04/2013, we can assume this assumption is valid, as only two days has been slated for the exams. my assumption is based on the fact that those who were wrongfully / previously invited to write on the first day (27/03/2013) will now be writing on the new first day (03/04/2013) and similarly those to write on 28/03/2013 will now write on 04/04/2013. This is because i assume the same criteria was used in sending the first invite and it was just unfortunate that the name and local government were those of some other person. Please House is there anybody who was to write on the first day and is now writing on the second? or vise versa?, if yes, then he or she should inform the house. lastly if i had an incomplete text message and am afar of i might rely on this assumption which is logical enough can be explained to officials on the second day (if you were to write on the first), what am saying is that they might understand. However if I am close by and by close i mean leaving in the south south with exception of people from cross river, its advisable you go there on the first day (prepared to write the exams) to clarify issues, just in case. this also applies to people from other none south south states. finally the message i received also contained an email address to direct any inquires to its info@nddc.gov.ng NUEL1648 ORDER OF THE ANCIENTS |
