Culture / Re: 7 Facts About The North by numiko(m): 4:18pm On Feb 10, 2013
Mavrick2012: (1) Their are about 73 DIFFERENT languages in Taraba state alone,48 in Plateau,60 in Bauchi,58 in Adamawa,57 in Kaduna,38 in Niger,29 in Nasarawa and 28 in Borno.

(2) Apart from Sokoto and Zamfara state, EVERY other state in the north has indigenous Christian population.

(3) Except Benue, kogi, plateau,Niger and Borno, the remaining 14 state's heads of traditional councils are all Fulanis.

(4) The sultan of sokoto is the only traditional leader that occupy's the highest number of offices in Nigeria:head of sokoto state traditional council, head of northern traditional council, chairman of the traditional council of Nigeria, head of Nigeria's muslim umma(congregation) and co-chairman of Nigeria's interfaith council. He also functions in various offices common with Nigerian traditional and religious leaders.

(5) A traditional Tiv man allows his "special" visitor or relation to make love to his wife.

(6) After "sekin uku",i.e third divorce,a northern muslim can remarry his divorced wife only if she (a) marry's another man,(b)have sex with him atleast once and (c)get a divorce from that man.

(7) Boko haram was founded and being run by Kanuris (not Hausa/Fulanis)

First of all there is no such thing as Fulani-Nupe, any more than there is Yoruba-Igbo. Secondly, there is no hausa word "sekin" or "seki". I find it quite amazing how our young people are going to school the more but turning out quite uneducated; you should stop peddling negative local stereotypes. And since you seem to be interested in conquered territories, you could perhaps explore how white prisoners from the UK were sent to Australia and ended up wiping out almost the entire local aborigines - white people are not native to Australia. Neither are they native to the US - there too they almost wiped out the local Indian population. Nigerians spreading negative stereotypes about their own people ultimately make the country weaker.

So what is your beef with the conquering fulanis, exactly.

Politics / Political Christianity And Islam by numiko(m): 12:26am On Jan 15, 2011
Does religion actually serve any purpose in the life of the Nigerian? I find no difference between those who worship in their churches and those who worship in their mosques. A muslim man stole N 8 billion, and a christian woman stole about N 100 billion; a Christian in a position of authority will steal just as his Muslim counterpart would; you find Muslim armed robbers just as you would find a Christian one; Muslims and Christians commit fornication and would equally be comfortable murdering their kin. If the two religions were products on a shelf, how would you differentiate between them. Save to be used as a political tool, what is the purpose of religion in the life of a Nigerian.

I find it quite amusing that some Christians will be jubilating Goodluck's win only because he is a Christian - does it mean that all Christian unemployed will suddenly find jobs, will pilgrimage be free, will the road to all Christian homes be tarred, will all Christian homes finally have electricity and 24hr water supply. I would have asked the same set of questions were the winner of the primaries to be a Muslim. So going back again to my question, what is the purpose of religion in our lives if it is not making us better citizens.

As a sign of our lack of social and political sophistication, there is no state in Nigeria today that you can not tear apart with the use of religion. Just point out, for example at an accident scene, how one person who professes one religion knocked down another who professes a different religion!
Politics / Re: The North Finally Loses Power by numiko(m): 12:02am On Jan 15, 2011
The North never had any real power in the first place. Economic power lies in the south and that is what power means to me. A northern president doesn't make a difference in the north because it is the southerners that he empowers economically. Just look around you critically and you'll see.
Politics / Re: Nigerian Muslims Lets Wake Up Before Boko Haram Hijacks Our Religion by numiko(m): 10:05pm On Jan 03, 2011
@auwal87, u obviously don`t know much about Islamic history and present day World affairs. Talk is cheap, action speaks louder than words. If Islam was truly a religion of peace we wouldn`t have Muslims from all the four corners of the World killing and bombing innocent people, for Allah and his messenger. Islam was founded on violence and it`s followers have carried on the tradition. Tell me, how did Usman Danfodio spread Islam in Nigeria? How many raids and wars did Mohamed(PBUH) personally waged on the unbelievers? Read the hadith and Koran with an open mind and u will see that it`s filled with nothing but violence and vengeance. Islam is called imole in Yoruba, meaning forced knowledge.

For your information the Popes have fought very bloody wars over time, and that is just for starters. Most online commentators in the country are quite ignorant about their own country and it's people and that is why most people would rather stay off, just to maintain their sanity. Nigerians have lost the ability to ask simple fundamentals questions - such as why now in Jos, and why at this time in Maiduguri. We have simply lost it, just as we have lost our ability to provide leadership in the country.
Politics / Re: Madam Jonathan And Her English by numiko(m): 11:39pm On Dec 27, 2010

I don't know about altering a word but I do know about uttering a word. You must be a malo yourself.
Politics / Sanusi And The One-sentence Members by numiko(m): 9:51pm On Dec 14, 2010
If the CBN governor spoke for almost three hours on the way forward for Nigeria, and the national assembly members only understood one sentence then we definitely are in deep trouble. None has commended the CBN chief for his visionary speech! The whole episode has shown that Nigerians truly appreciate good men.
