sonyc00: Hey guys, i have a question. Newbies on QAworld need to have their initial transcriptions reviewed before they can begin fully right? I transcribed two audios yesterday, the first was rated 2, while the other has yet to be reviewed. Does the review normally take this long. Yes |

PattyMike: I've not been transcribing for the past 5 months but I got accepted on the same platform as samsad. I wrote the test first time last year December and failed woefully, I tried again by early March and passed. They said I can try again after 45 days or so if I failed before. But then like I said, if I didn't shut out QA I would never have seen a new opportunity and utilised it. It's a different hustle from transcribing and I did it from late March to Mid June and made X8 my entire income on QA since I started which I saved up and got back to trading BTC and gift cards etc. So now I'm back to my old business . Which would not have been possible if I didn't look outside. My message is not for everybody tho, only those that wish to grow. Chief Nwa, pls don't lick anybody's arse especially someone u know is a horrible human being just cus u want to make a living. Before QA u have been surviving and after QA u will still survive. Even on slack people still post screenshots and they are only told to bring it down, slap on the wrists. We broke the rule, we apologize and it won't happen again but why threaten to shut everyone from the country out, dehumanize ur "employees", insult the whole country, insinuate that we are being illegal with PayPal (indirectly calling us fraudulent). I complained severally that nobody should post answers for QA tests to the Newbies, it's just stupid to give out answers to prospective workers. The threats and derogatory comments are what I have issues with, QA is the ONLY platform that treats workers like this. Even those who didn't break rules on slack are still treated like dirt. It's unfortunate really. I'm sure you've made your point. Forget about this issue, please. |

Pattymike.. All this ain't necessary.. If you've gotten another gig that's giving you money, just help by telling the family. No matter what, we broke rules and we need to be greatful for what we have... We were happy when everything was going smoothly before Covid... If you have a better platform, those who will switch will do so while others will stay if they wish to. Don't make things difficult for us all and at the end of the day, you won't share the new website. |

Jdhdgejio: you say "whoever is the culprit" like we were not all wrong by breaking the rules of QA World in the first place. I've been on this thread for over 9 months and I know the older guys (samsard, nwafresh) and a few others I can't remember reading tried to make sure we didn't break the rules, they even used pseudo names to mask the names of companies. But somehow, the rest of us started calling the company names in full, even started teaching people how to download QA audio from their browsers. I think we should blame ourselves first for not keeping to the rules and giving QA World more reasons to not trust people from our region. Well, the deed has been done. Let's maintain the privacy of QAW and hopefully when the slack channel is created, we'll all move over there while this thread will remain and guild our country people to know that there's actually a place to earn as a transcriber. |

Slack is the work place community where you can get to connect with other transcribers and moderators who can help you resolve any issues or questions. Just sign-up and the bot will put you through.
For the PayPal, you can ask for the link to learn how to do that. After opening the PayPal account, go to your nearest UBA branch and tell them you want the international Africard. That's the card you'll use to get your funds directly from PayPal. Please note that you must always log into the Lesotho PayPal using the link provided in the document.
Take some time to read the FAQ and help before you start your first job. It is extremely important |

Yes you can be self employed anywhere you are in the country transcribing for a living.
This thread will teach you everything you need to know to start up and the tools needed to deliver the goods.
You would need
1. A PC or Laptop 2. Affordable internet connection 3. Good head phones 4 Good command of English
Everything else can be learned on this thread. For those of us who have already started transcribing, we're welcome to share our ideas here so that this can be our online community.
To avoid this thread being banned, kindly let us adhere to all the rules of Nairaland.
Should we want to share screenshots, kindly let's block the company and important call info.
Also all forms of advertising is prohibited and will be reported.
Edited 9/7/2019 posted by samsard for newbies. Once you master these, the rest go easy
E.g Rep: I was gonna, uhmmm, I was gonna tell ya about, about the new product we launched. What they need: I was going to tell you about the new product we launched.
Punctuation: Hello, Philip. It's Emily calling from CLH Group. How're you doing today? Cust: I'm fine, thank you. And how are you?
Longer calls will be more complex in terms of punctuation but for a start A comma before and after a name in mid sentence. A comma before or after a name in salutation. You're also allowed MINOR corrections for making clear transcripts. Anyway, read through the FAQ and regularly Consult it while working at least till you acquaint yourself with it's detail
All full company names, PayPal email addresses and screenshots that include confidential company information must not be shared on this thread and will be reported |

SUPERPACK: There is nothing to negotiate again. The thread can go down if you ask me. Using a slack channel will not work because they use the free bandwidth package with limited storage so info can only stay for only a month Maximum before auto-porge. That's why she said it'll be monitored by two people who'll keep answering questions for newbies just like the SCC |

SUPERPACK: I suggested we move to Whatsapp or Telegram as at October last year but everybody objected to that claiming that it is not necessary. Hope we can see my reason now, nothing like secret on the open internet/Google space. The deed have been done but a stitch in time would have saved us all this stress. You wouldn't want to wake up and see 1k unnecessary chat + ads... The deed has been done. We just have to make things transparent in order to get banned. I've provided some options and we should provide solutions based on that |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Self Employment Opportunity: Transcribing For A Living In Nigeria Part 1 by nwafresh(m): 4:15pm On Sep 05, 2020 |
Good day everybody. I just want to bring this to your notice that this thread has gotten to Arlen. On how she got to know, I'm as surprised as you are. She invited Samsard and myself for a private conversation with her on Slack and she complained bitterly because we broke a lot of rules here which we all know and she pointed out some of it. According to her, these are what she saw.
What red flags I saw on there that concerns me are: • declarations of downloading QAW audios (complete with steps on how people do it to encourage others) • openly sharing answers to our test clips (this promotes laziness and I hate it because we have a ton of lazy people already) • I now understand why a lot of your fellows are having PayPal issues - because the process is unconventional and makes it prone to eventual issues with PayPal and then you guys have the audacity to complain when payment problems arise. This, despite us providing clear guidelines on PayPal payment requirement. :weary: • sharing screenshots of the QAW platform and our Slack workspace in a public forum. • encouraging people to work using phones :duh: when again, the rules are crystal clear. If you prefer to be hardheaded about this because you're confident it works for you, then fine. But zip it and don't encourage other people to do it. Do you want us to make it so that the platform will be exclusively compatible with a laptop or desktop computer like most transcription platforms? Where would that take you then (when I realize you have problems with electricity that's why you try to use phones instead)?
Those are her words. So we came to a conclusion that in order not to have issues with the company or have difficulties working on the platform due to what she mentioned above, we've decided for the thread to go down or we delete every sensitive information [which is not possible looking at how far the thread has gone] that is against the rules and regulations of the company examples; screenshots, answers to text clips, encouraging people to use phone for the job, etc. She also proposed that she's willing to open a slack channel solely for us where we can help our country men and women without violating the rules. The Slack channel will be handled by 2 people among us that will be responding to newbies from our country who'll be joining base on invitation.
This are my suggestions: 1. If we can agree on bringing the thread down, fine. OR 2. Can we delete all sensitive posts like screenshots, answers to test clips, encouraging others working with phone? [is this possible considering the length of the thread]?, if yes, fine. 3. If option 2 is achievable, any newbie from our country will be invited to the Slack channel where all questions and answers will be provided to him/her by the 2 selected people who will be handling the Slack channel.
Your suggestions are welcome. NOTE: She also saw our insults and if you're willing to insult her again, she'll also be seeing it. Let's be civil and provide the way forward. To most of us, this has been a source of income even though the pay is low, but we're still earning... Let's make our decision because thread don cast!!! ... |
