Politics › Orji Kalu: Even Obasanjo Went To Prison; I’m Not Ashamed Of My Experience by NwaNimo1(op): 5:15pm On Mar 23, 2021
Chief Whip of the Senate and former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, on Monday night said he was thankful to God to have been imprisoned for six months.

He revealed that God allowed the conspiracy of his enemies because it is part of his life’s script.

Speaking in Aba North Ward 1 during his ward-to-ward campaign for All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, for the Aba North/South Federal Constituency by-election scheduled to hold on Saturday, March 27, the former governor in response to statements by Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu and Senator representing Abia South Senatorial zone, Enyinnaya Abaribe alleging that he had not recovered from Kuje prison experience, Kalu said he was not ashamed of having gone to prison, which afforded him the opportunity of experiencing the other side of life.

Ikpeazu and Abaribe had stated that Kalu’s suggestion that road projects in Aba were funded by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the federal government was a clear pointer that something is wrong with him.

“It is either he is yet to fully recover from the effects of his several months of incarceration at the Kuje prisons or he is just plain ignorant,” the governor’s press statement read.

In his response, Kalu told a mammoth crowd in Aba that Abaribe was little minded to think he was ashamed of his prison experience.

He said Abaribe, who he picked from the gutters and made him deputy when he was Abia State governor, was busy supplying petitions to his conspirators because they were afraid he could be President in 2023.

Kalu said: “My conspirators thought I would be President in 2023 , so they decided to cut my journey short at all cost. Abaribe continued to supply petitions, but you see, these people are not God. They think I am ashamed to have gone to prison. I am not and I don’t blame them because they don’t know my relationship with God. They are little minds and wicked people who have refused to do any project for their own people. They have kept a centre table for you and called it bridge.

“You can’t even pay Common salaries and you are here swearing true to God, ‘na me build this road.’ The only road the state is constructing is the 600 meters road in Eziukwu which they have been building since last six years; that’s one year 100 meters. Compare my village and these people’s village and you will see how shameless they are. If you can’t build your own village, is it my own you will build?”

To his question, the crowd responded with a thunderous “Nooo.”

Continuing, Kalu said: “This is 10pm and I am here with you; can the governor or Abaribe come here? That is why in leadership you have to be with the people you are leading. They don’t understand this simple technique; all the projects they claim to be doing are all on radio, nothing on ground. Joseph went to prison; even Obasanjo went to prison. My going to prison is part of my life’s script and I am thankful God allowed it.”

Kalu last weekend lambasted the Abia State government for laying claims to World Bank NEMAP projects, NNDC and Federal government sponsored projects in Abia as state government funded projects.

He told a crowd in Igwebuike Hall in Aba South that he federal government of Nigeria was responsible for the N27 billion Ngwa road project and not the state government, saying: “a government that is owing over 23 months to Abia Polytechnic, 22 months to Abia Teaching hospital, 18 months to Health Management Board , 27 months to Technical School, Arochukwu, amounting over N29 billion as arrears of salaries, excluding pension, cannnot embark on a N27 billion road job. You cannot give what you don’t have .

“The senator representing you in the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has been in the Senate for 16 years and has done no single project in Abia South. He is busy speaking English as if English is what you need. You need infrastructure, you need good roads; you need schools and hospitals. Go to Abia North, just a year in the Senate, I have given them 19 roads, renovated schools, built hospitals, with many empowerment programme. Abaribe is so shameless that he doesn’t even have a road leading to his village in Umuekwensu.”

Politics › APC To Stay Beyond 32 Years In Office- Buni by NwaNimo1(op): 5:06pm On Mar 23, 2021
Governor Mai Mala Buni, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has envisioned an APC administration that will remain in office beyond eight terms, ensure unfettered implementation of the party’s manifesto and improve the welfare of the people.

The Yobe State governor and Chairman APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Committee (CECPC) stated the party’s vision while inaugurating the 61-member Strategy and Contact Committee headed by Jigawa State governor, Abubakar Badaru.

Buni said Strategy and Contact committee is constituted to “consolidate the achievements” made by the CECPC towards building a strong party with solid structures that would help the party 1 stand the test of time.

To this end he said the committee would serve a transition body toward the coming congresses of the party.

He noted that stakeholders have made “collective drive to recover, rebuild and reposition our party” stressing that members of present committee where picked based on merit and not on state by state basis.

Mar 23, 2021
Thumbing up the CECPC, Gov Buni boasted that the committee he leads has performed satisfactorily in managing the crisis the threatened the APC. He observed that APC is now running an inclusive administration.

“I am glad to state with sense of satisfaction that, the committee has within this period made tremendous achievements by recording genuine reconciliations and settling irreconcilable differences among critical stakeholders of the party.

“I am happy to say that the committee is running an all inclusive administration, giving all stakeholders and indeed our members the opportunity to contribute in the onerous task of rebuilding the party.

“The Caretaker/Extraordinary committee has continuously engaged our members to serve in various committees thereby supporting us to effectively manage the crises within the party.

“The achievements recorded within this period of time were made possible with the generous support and cooperation the committee is enjoying from every member of the party.

“This has translated into massive return of stakeholders and their supporters who had earlier jettisoned the party. On the other hand, our efforts in wooing members of other political parties into APC, has recorded remarkable and unprecedented successes.

“Another major milestone we have recorded as a party is the membership registration and revalidation exercise which has given every member of our party a true sense of belonging. The membership registration would provide us with the numerical strength of the party and to serve as a guide towards planning.

He said that the ongoing review of the party’s constitution would take care of “ambiguous positions and loopholes that have caused confusion and controversies over the years”, as he expressed confidence APC will emerge a dynamic party

“The constitution of the Strategy and Contact committee therefore, is to consolidate the achievements we are making in building a strong party with a solid structure that would accomplish APC to stand the test of time.

“Our vision is to provide a wheel that will drive the party to go beyond 6th, 7th and even 8th term of office to effectively implement the party manifesto, improve the lives of Nigerians and, to remain Nigeria’s leading political party.

“This committee is therefore very key to our process of transition towards successful congresses and national convention and, to establish a very solid, reputable and reliable future for the party.”

A seven point term of reference was given the committee viz:

*To establish constructive engagements between critical stakeholders at various levels of the party with a view to reviving confidence and trust among party leaders.

To conduct a need assessment survey from party members and the general public.
*To create statement of vision, mission and core values of the party that will foster unity.

*Develop strategies that will reposition the party in an advantaged position in the public domain

*Develop a timeline and framework for the implementation of the recommendations of the committee.

*Co-opt such members as may be deemed most suitable.

*Submit periodic report to the National chairman.

Meanwhile Governor Badaru has allayed fears the drive for more people to join APC will push the country into a one party state.

Politics › Biafra: I Want Peace Not War – Nnamdi Kanu by NwaNimo1(op): 1:46pm On Mar 23, 2021
Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Tuesday declared that he’s out for peace and not for war.

Kanu said his mission of actualizing Biafra would be done through a non-violent agitation.

In a series of tweets, the IPOB leader said the Estern Security Network, ESN, was to ensure self-defense and not to cause violence.

Kanu maintained that his mission of actualizing Biafra would be achieved “sooner or later.”

He wrote: “Let these be clear: I come in peace, not war. #IPOB is committed to non-violence, but will never be cowardly. #ESN is about self-defense, not offense. My abiding mission is to restore #Biafra peacefully but if you want war, you will surely get it, sooner than later. THANK YOU.”

Kanu also accused President Muhammadu Buhari of aiding what he termed “irredentist Fulani elements.”

“What is happening in Nigeria today is pure necolonization by irredentist Fulani elements, aided and abetted by @NGRPresident and @HQNigerianArmy. They will succeed if the South and the indigenous people of the North don’t unite to stop them. Separation is the only way to stop them,” he added.

Politics › Fayose: Nigerians Want Solutions, Not Buhari’s Meetings With Political Wanderers by NwaNimo1(op): 10:33pm On Mar 22, 2021
Defection: Nigerians want solutions, not Buhari’s meetings with political wanderers

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, says Nigerians are interested in workable solutions to the country’s socio-economic challenges and not the several meetings of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), with “political wanderers” and “recycled politicians”.

Fayose, who stated this via his verified Twitter handle on Monday evening, made a veiled reference to a meeting the President had with former Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel; and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole.

The PUNCH had reported that Buhari met the two politicians in Aso Villa, Abuja this afternoon. Daniel and Bankole, both from Ogun State, recently defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Reacting, Fayose, who is a chieftain of opposition Peoples Democratic Party, said, “Nigerians are not interested in the president receiving political wanderers in the Villa. They are more interested in their well-being, especially security. They want to see a president who is proactive in handling affairs of the country, rather than receiving recycled politicians.

“Most importantly, Nigerians are not interested in how many politicians that decamp to APC, which is already a dead party. The president should rather make himself available to Nigerians who can help solve our unending financial and security challenges amongst others.

“Above all, I wish the president knows how disappointed Nigerians are about him and his failed promises.”
