******* Thelma thought of her life as she paced up and down the hospital waiting room, waiting anxiously for her lab result, she remembered how she had lived a life of pretence, she had lost her virginity when she was in JSS2, But she kept it a secret to herself, she loves dating older men, she tried her best to love George but couldn't, she always feel happy when she's with the older men, she decided to let go of George and focus on her life since she can't see herself marrying him, she just can't understand why she has been faking to be a virtuous girl when she's not, the nurse's voice jerked her off her thoughts,
"Your result is out and the doctor is waiting for you"the nurse said to her
Her heart skipped, she walked into the doctor's office and he beckoned on her to sit down,
" You're not pregnant Thelma, you have acute malaria and typhoid, i have prescribed some drugs for you"
She couldn't believe her ears, she was so happy to hear that she wasn't pregnant
"Doctor, did you just say that i'm not pregnant" she asked him
"Off course you're not"
"Thank you so much doc, i will buy the drugs on my way out,"
"Make sure you report here next week Tuesday for your check up, have a nice day"
She was all smiles when she left the hospital, she was determined to quit her life of pretence and move on with her life, she would let George go.
******* George had kept to himself, Mirabel avoids him like a plague, he goes out with his uncle and return late in the evening, he had returned one evening and gone to his room to shower, he opened the door to his room and saw Elvis sitting on his bed, at first he was filled with anger, he walked gently towards him,
"What are you doing in my room? " he threw at Elvis
"I came to see you, we need to talk,"
George calmed down after seeing how sorry his friend was, he sat down close to him
"George i'm sorry for not telling you about your sister and i, i was only scared, you can punish me as much as you want but don't blame Mirabel for this, i really love her, all i need is just a chance for you to see how much i love her,"
"I was angry because i felt betrayed, you should have confided in me,i'm sorry about the fight bro, i have forgiven you, just don't mess with my sister's heart,"
"And i hope you have forgiven me too, big bro" Mirabel chipped in standing by the door
"Come over here, stubborn girl" George beckoned on her
He hugged and pecked her on the forehead, they later went out together to have dinner in a nearby restaurant.
MONTHS LATER
*********** Noel left the doctor's office devastated, he was angry with the doctor and doesn't understand why he doesn't want to give out Debbie's contact to him after he explained all that happened to him, he walked to his car dejectedly and drove away angrily.
***********George was done with his service and was making arrangements for his travel abroad for his masters, Thelma had neither called nor texted him, it was not easy to forget her but with time he was able to forget her and move on with his life, Whitney has been hovering around him but he doesn't need a girl in his life for now, his uncle's wedding was fast approaching and they have all been running around for it, Debbie called him and informed him of her return to Nigeria to celebrate her son's first birthday, he had missed her so much, she felt bad when she heard of his break up with Thelma.
Gift had gotten admission into LASU, she left the house months ago, she visits them once in a while, George ran into her on his way to the restaurant to have lunch, he had just packed his car and was about entering the restaurant when he saw a familiar figure entering the restaurant, he called her and she turned immediately, he walked up to her
"I'm so happy to see you Gift, what are you doing here?"
"You're asking what i'm doing in a restaurant, i came to make my hair" she teased him
"Oooh, i'm sorry about that, i was just carried away by your beauty, i'm here to have lunch, let's go in and talk, it's been awhile"
They walked into the restaurant together, he was so happy to see her, he had really missed her, they settled down and called the waiter to get their order, their food was brought and they got busy eating,
"So what has been happening in your life? ," George asked her
"Nothing much, just studies, and my sister's wedding preparations, why didn't you attend her traditional marriage? , i was expecting you"
"I'm sorry about that, i was not in the country, i forgot to tell you about it, but i will be around for their wedding, "
" I hope so, how's mummy and everyone,?, Mirabel called last week, she will be home this weekend, i will come and visit her, we haven't seen each other for a long time"
"I'm jealous here "
"So, how's Elvis?" she asked him
"He travelled to Japan with his dad"
"I miss everyone, especially Ruth and Dorothy, they were like sisters to me"
"We miss you too, So tell me about your love life" he chipped in
"Love?, i can't talk about that right now, talking about love, how's Thelma?" she asked him shyly
"I broke up with her after the incident" he replied bluntly
"Oooh i'm sorry about that"
There was silence as they concentrated on their food, Gift was afraid to talk about Thelma again, she tried to convince him to forgive her and bring her back into his life but he wouldn't hear of it. She thought about how he loved and always talked about Thelma, she was jerked out of her thought by someone
"George, what are you doing here with your house girl? " Whitney asked rudely
They both looked up to see her standing with her two friends,
"Whitney, please i'm not in for this today, why do you keep on stalking me, are you this jobless?, are you not ashamed of yourself, i don't love you and will never love you" George threw at her
"You're saying all these because of this girl, i knew you had feelings for her,can't you see that i love you so much, i have refused to return to the states just because of you, i'm ready to do anything you ask of me, this girl here is just a gold digger, she's running after you because of your money"
"I have had enough of you today, it's time i report you to your brother, Gift let's get out of here"
They both walked out of the restaurant, Whitney couldn't believe George will ignore her because of Gift, she watched them walk to the car and drove off.
"I will teach that brat lesson she will never forget in her life" she muttered to herself
George dropped Gift and headed home, he was tired of Whitney, his love life was messed up, he packed his car and was about alighting from it when his phone beeped, it was a message from an unsaved number, and it read
"I'm sorry for everything that happened between, guess we weren't meant for each other, i tried to love you but i couldn't, i've found love elsewhere, you're too naive for my liking, you were boring and i couldn't take it anymore, you made a mistake by saying we won't have sex till after marriage, i'm sorry, i'm not whom you thought i was, i pretended to be a good girl, i'm sorry for deceiving you, tomorrow is my introduction ceremony, i want you to search for your love or you can as well marry Whitney.My wedding is coming up soon. Bye, Thelma"
"This girl has no shame, she's so shameless, i wonder how i fell inlove with her at first" he muttered and angrily went up to his room, he was tired of girls.

"Thelma, i'm not comfortable with this your marriage, i have never met or heard anything about that man, moreover, is that man not old enough to be your father?" her mother asked her
"Mummy, you don't know who you are referring to, that man there can buy the entire Nigeria, i know he is old but i love him, he is the one i love, please forget his age"
"I brought you up here to my room to be sure you really want to marry that man, look at the convoy that he brought here just for introduction ceremony, you said you met him in Dubai few months ago and now you're talking about marriage, you refused to do your NYSC and you ended up bringing an old man to my house"
"If you don't accept him, then we will go back to Dubai and wed, stop this your preaching and go downstairs and attend to my husband, he has a meeting to attend in two hours time" Thelma retorted and walked out on her mother
Mrs Obasi was embittered, she had prayed for her daughters to marry but not this kind of marriage, she was scared for her daughter's life, she went downstairs to meet her inlaw to be, traditional wedding and white wedding was fixed.
*************** George called Debbie and told her about the text her sister sent to him, she only laughed, she promised to make things right when she returns,he was a bit relieved after talking to her.
All preparations were made ready for Debbie and her baby's return, her mother's friend that sheltered her in the states was returning home too with her, George would be in Abuja with his Mother for a conference and they would visit Debbie and her baby,
He laid on the bed thinking about the two sisters, he still doesn't know why Thelma was rushing her marriage, traditional and white wedding was in two weeks time, he wished her well.
FIVE MONTHS LATER
Uncle Gabriel 's wedding had come and gone, he had moved in with his new wife, George's visa to Canada was out, he was finally leaving the country for good, Debbie had returned with her baby, No one had heard from Thelma after her marriage, mrs Obasi was so happy to see her daughter and grand child, she single handedly organized his birthday party, she invited friends and well wishers.
It's been two weeks Debbie returned to the country and Noel have been visiting her begging for forgiveness, she forgave him finally and promised to always allow him visit his son, life has taught her alot, she was so full of life, she was looking so beautiful and breathtaking, Noel decided to take things one after the other, his parents were pushing him to hurry up and propose to Debbie, but he decided to win her love back slowly,
He called Debbie late at night and promised to take her and their son out to shop for his forth coming birthday party.
George was happy he would meet Debbie and her son, her mum insisted on following him in order to see her long time neighbour, they were both in Abuja for a conference meeting, they went out later in the evening to shop for the baby's birthday present.
Noel bought all Debbie and the baby needed, he was happy he was making her fall in love with him again, he secretly got an engagement ring for her, he would propose her on their son's birthday.
Kids were running up and down playing, the compound was filled with guests, George and his mother was a bit late, Debbie was so happy to see them, she greeted mrs Ufomba and took them in to see his mother and also introduce her mother's friend to them, they walked into the sitting room and met few guests inside, they exchanged greetings with everyone and settled down on the couch, Debbie excused herself and soon returned with her mother's friend,
"George meet aunty Maureen, my mother's friend in the states that took care of me, she and her children were very kind to me, she came back in search of her long lost twin sister" Debbie introduced them
Mrs Ufomba turned to see her twin sister standing before her, she wiped her face with hands and screamed
"Maureen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, is this you?" she screamed amidst tears
"What?, Adanne!!!!!!!!" she called her sister, she was the only one that called her by that name, she loved her sister so much and was heartbroken when she caught her on the bed with her fiance, George was shocked and happy, he had finally met his long lost aunt
They hugged each other and refused to let go, the guests stood still watching the small drama, mrs Obasi took the sisters to her room upstairs, Debbie and George followed them.
"Sister, i'm so sorry for What happened, it was the devil's handwork, i'm now a changed person, thank God for my husband "she begged her sister kneeling down
" I forgave you long time ago, i've been searching for you, i lost contact with your husband, i would've visited long time ago with my kids and husband, they want to see you"aunty Maureen said
"I'm now the happiest person on earth, i will call my husband immediately and tell him about this, how did you know the Obasi 's?"
" I was duped and deported to Nigeria after spending four years abroad, i had nothing on me, then i met her,she was newly married then, she complained to me about how she was forced to marry, and i also told her my own ordeal, we became friends, she singlehandedly helped me to travel out again, when she called me and told me about her daughter i didnt hesitate in helping her, "
"George come over here, this is my twin sister, your aunt" his mother said
"Oh my God, my nephew is so handsome," she hugged George
"welcome home aunt," he said wiping the tears in his eyes
"Your cousins will be so happy to see you, you look so much like your dad, Is he your only child?"
"He has a sister, she is in school but will be home this weekend"
"I can't wait to meet her, so you and mrs Obasi were neighbours?"
"We were neighbours before they relocated to Abuja after the death of her husband"
"Oooooh my God, finally i meet my twin sister, Debbie sweetie, i always told you that you are a child of luck, you always bring in happiness anywhere you are, where's my godson, i need to introduce him to my family, "
" Noel is with him, let's go outside and join the guests "Debbie said, her phone rang on their way downstairs and she ran out to receive her visitor
Noel saw Debbie hugging a handsome guy, she pecked him and they both walked towards him hand in hand,
" Noel, meet my fiance, Robert Adams, i met him in the states, he helped me pick up the pieces of my life, he took care of me and my unborn baby when i was pregnant, Noel i'm not a fool, you wouldn't have returned to me if Whitney didn't dump you, you ran after me because Whitney left you, i'm sorry i can't marry you, our traditional marriage is coming up soon"Debbie told him
Noel was so ashamed of himself, he didn't know how he managed to get into his car and drove home, he has lost the only girl that truly loved him, he got home and slumped on the couch in the sitting room.
