CHAPTER 12


******** Thelma searched for George but couldn't find him , she heard the Mc inviting Mirabel's family and close friends to come up the stage and join her in the cutting the cake, she then saw George walked up the stage hand in hand with a familiar figure, Elvis stood beside them, she was confused, she believed the girl must be Elvis' girlfriend, she quickly joined them, few seconds later, the cake was cut and everyone got busy dancing, gifts were presented to Mirabel, her parents gave her a car key to a new Venza as her birthday gift, she was over excited, she was the envy of her friends, someone dragged her out of the crowd to a quiet corner, she opened her eyes and Lo and behold, it was her secret lover, she hugged him excitedly.


Gift was so excited her sister made it to the party, sister Chinwe was looking flawless in her outfit, she was glowing in her newly made hair and the diamond neckless she wore shone in the dark, she was surprised when uncle Gabriel walked up to her and pecked her on the cheek, she stared from her sister to uncle Gabriel, then George walked in,

"Sister Chinwe?, Is she the lady you've been talking about?" George asked his uncle with a surprised look

"Sure she is, she is the mother of my unborn babies" uncle Gabriel said

"Sister, you never told me you have someone important in your life," Gift said pretending to be annoyed

"I never planned for this, it just happened" sister Chinwe chuckled

"I'm the happiest guy on earth today, mummy will be so happy to hear this"

"I already told your mum about it, and she gave us a go ahead, "sister Chinwe said

" Oh my God, you're looking so beautiful, please let's go and meet mum and dad"

George led the way to where his parents were seated with their friends, they were so happy when Gabriel engaged sister Chinwe infront of them, He searched for Mirabel to witness the engagement, but she was nowhere to be found, he asked her friends around for her but they don't know her where about, he went behind the compound to search for her, then he heard her voice, she was talking to someone in a low tone, everywhere was dark, so he couldn't see the person she was talking to, he tiptoed closer to eavesdrop on their conversation.

"Baby, i will miss you so much, just be serious with your studies, i will visit you in school soon" the male voice said

The voice sounded familiar,

"I love you so much, i don't want any of your sister's wild friends to take you away from me"

"You're the one for me, once you're done with school, i will quickly do the needful, i think it's time i tell your brother about us, he won't be happy to hear it from an outsider, i feel guilty anytime i'm with him"

"i think i know this person, let it not be what i'm thinking" George thought to himself

He picked his phone and moved closer to them

"Mirabel, what are you doing there?! " he asked her authoritatively

He switched on his phone torch and was shocked to see his best friend standing and holding his sister

Elvis!!!!!!!!!, what is going on here? "George asked in bewilderment

" George i'm sorry you found out this way, but i'm serious with your sister, it's not like my other relationships, i love your sister so much"Elvis stuttered

"Mirabel, When did this start,?

" Ermmmm, it started few months ago, when i was preparing for my exams, "she said shivering in fear

George rushed at her to slap her, but Elvis stopped him,

" Elvis let go of my hand!!!! "he yelled at his friend

" I'm sorry but i can't, i can't watch you hit your sister, if you want to hit anyone, then it should be me"Elvis told him

He punched Elvis twice on the face before letting him go

"Stay away from my family, leave my house right now!!!!!!" He fired at Elvis and ran off into the house

Mirabel helped him to his feet and took him to his car parked outside, in order to avoid unnecessary questioning, she took the back gate.


*********** " I meet you again, miss? "Whitney said to Thelma

" What are you doing here? "Thelma asked her in shock

" Ooops, are you scared?, i told you i will get back at you, So tell me what you're doing with George "Whitney said sipping her drink

" George is my fiance, stay away from us"

"You're a joker, you mean you have someone like George and you jump from one club to another in Abuja, i will gladly tell your man the kind of girl you are"

"please i beg you in the name of God, don't do this to me"

"My name is Princess Whitney, incase you don't know me"
"Are you Noel's fiancee?" Thelma asked her

"Ex fiancee, the idiot is off my hook, now listen, if you don't want me exposing you, you must play along with me, i love George so much and won't like sharing him with any bitch, so stay away from him, if not i will tell him how you fight in clubs because of men and how you smoke your life out with your useless friends, you don't deserve George, he deserves someone better"Whitney threatened her

George had heard enough, he clapped his two hands together as he entered the kitchen

"Well done, i have seen a lot of surprises today, i don't want to hear either of you speak, i want you to pick your things and leave this house, As for you Thelma, it's over between us, i should have listened to my uncle, you're nothing but a disgrace, you made a fool out of me, you can't fool me again, Leave my house now!!!!!!! "he thundered at her

She ran up the stairs immediately, Gift, Ruth and Dorothy were standing watching the little drama going on in the kitchen,

" Get Lost!!!!!!!!!!!"He yelled at them

He went to the bar and picked a bottle of alcohol and went to his room, he sent his mum message not to disturb him, as he was tired and had gone to bed, he locked his door, and for the first time in his life, he drank himself to stupor, his world came crashing before him, he loved Thelma and would do anything for her, he never expected her to be living a wayward life behind his back. He wished one person was around to Console him, he missed her so much, she was the only friend that doesn't hide anything from me. His best friend betrayed him by dating his sister and now his girlfriend has also betrayed him.

Minutes later, he was snoring, he slept off forgetting all his worries.




********* "Noel, you need to abstain from alcohol, you are not helping yourself at all" the doctor told him

"Thank you doc,I will try and do as you said" Noel thanked him

"Go to the dispensary and get the drugs i prescribed for you, make sure you eat well"

The doctor's phone rang and he waited for him to finish answering it,he promised to call back the caller and ended the call.

"I'm sorry, i was talking to my favourite patient, though she travelled to the States to put to bed, she was really nice and sweet" the doc said

"You're really fond of this your patient, i would have loved to meet her"

"You will fall in love with her if you meet her, Debbie is such a nice woman , i still don't know why her boyfriend treated her the way he did, she left the country just to stay away from him, i'm happy she will soon put to bed, she is a strong woman"

Noel couldn't believe his ears, he was filled with guilt and shame, he knew the doctor was talking about Debbie, he remembered he was working in a clinic close to Debbie's close before he was transferred to his present workplace, in order to be sure, he decided to ask him more about Debbie

"I have a friend by that name too, but she disappeared all Of a sudden, i've searched for her everywhere and still can't find her, i really miss her, she is nice too"Noel said


"Ooooh, i have her pictures here, she sent them to me when i requested for her recent pictures, check if she's your lost friend"

"You two must be really close"

"yeah, we became close when she was impregnated and abandoned by her useless boyfriend, though she has refused to tell me anything about him, that guy deserves to be castrated"

Noel was ashamed of his actions,

The doctor scrolled down his phone and showed him the pictures, he saw her filled with smiles in her pregnancy, she was really glowing, he decided not to bother the doctor with the story of his life, as he had already wasted enough time in his office, he thanked the doctor and lied to him that it wasn't the Debbie he was talking about, he left the office and promised to be back.




********** She woke up and remembered she was in a hotel room, she remembered how her secrets were exposed in front of her boyfriend the previous night, she couldn't even defend herself because she wasn't expecting it, she couldn't stop throwing up, she had been throwing up since morning, she had noticed that there are some changes in her body for the past one month, she was scared of what her mind has been telling her, she already has George to battle with, she has been calling him but his phone was switched off, she bathed and left for the airport, she was determined to do the needful if really she was pregnant, she wasn't ready to be tied down with pregnancy, she doesn't want to end up like her sister, but Debbie is better than her because she knows the father of her baby.

She checked out of the hotel and headed straight to the airport, she needs to tackle the problem before her before returning to fight for George.
